Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Chelsea returned to mediate a battle brewing between Summer & Chloe at Marchetti, while Victor continued with his plan to uncover the traitor at Newman.
Chancellor Park
Christine wanders into the park, deep in thought. She sits down and thinks back to her conversation with Danny last night, where she’d told him it was over between her and Paul.
Phyllis walks by and takes a seat on a nearby park bench. She says hello to Christine.
Christine asks if there’s something she wants.
Phyllis says she’s just there to enjoy the day. She offers her sympathies since Daniel told her that Christine’s relationship with Paul is over.
Christine tells Phyllis that her marriage is none of her business.
Phyllis smiles and says it’s been a while since Christine was single… Maybe she needs some dating tips.
Christine laughs… Is she serious? Phyllis’s last romantic partner was a known felon who ended up dead! She’s not going to come to Phyllis for dating advice.
Phyllis mentions that Danny is in town.
Christine knows; she saw him last night.
Phyllis says it’s pretty wild that Christine ended things with Paul, and her ex happens to be in town. She asks if Christine is trying to rekindle things with Danny now that she’s called it quits with Paul.
Christine stands up and crosses her arms. She says she and Phyllis aren’t friends; they’re not going to talk about her personal life.
Phyllis says she’s trying to be a friend by letting Christine know she shouldn’t chase after Danny again.
Christine says she’s not chasing after Danny; Daniel is her godson, and they’ve always been close. She says Phyllis has been hanging out with Danny, and she should take her own advice… Nothing’s going to come from it! She tells Phyllis that her priority should be getting her “miserable life” back on track. She leaves the park.
Phyllis thinks back to a time she had fought with Christine.
Flashback.
Phyllis accuses Christine of taking her son away from her.
Christine tells Phyllis that it was her fault… Phyllis lied and used people. She dragged an ex-boyfriend back and got a sample of his blood to cover up her “little secret.” She still gets worked up when she thinks of the monstrous things Phyllis has done.
Phyllis says that the pain Christine is going through is nothing compared to the pain she felt when Christine took her son away from her! She warns Christine not to screw up her relationship with her son.
Lauren interrupts Phyllis’s reverie. “Phyllis? Are you okay?”
Crimson Lights
Esther pours Christine a coffee and asks if everything is all right… She looks a little out of sorts.
Christine says she has a lot going on right now.
There’s a voice from behind. It’s Nina Webster! “Feel like talking to an old friend?”
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Danny sits at the piano, playing a soft melody as he thinks back to his conversation with Christine when she’d told him about the end of her relationship with Paul.
Daniel walks into the lounge and listens to his father playing for a minute. He tells his father that the tune sounds pretty melancholy… What’s going on?
Danny smiles.
Chancellor Park
Phyllis tells Lauren that she just saw Christine. She says that Christine will never see her as anything but a thorn in her side.
Lauren figures Phyllis thinks the same of Christine.
Phyllis thinks back to a conversation she had with Christine.
Flashback.
Phyllis tells Christine that she puts men in a trance. She names Danny, Paul, and Michael. She says Christine is the “holy grail” of men’s fantasies… Men would walk through fire just to revel in her beauty!
Christine recalled that Phyllis was obsessed with her husband, and she faked two paternity tests, losing her son in court as a result.
Phyllis got in Christine’s face… Does she want to take off the gloves?
Christine asked Phyllis why she was so filled with venom… Was her relationship with Jack going off the rails? He’s the first decent man she’s managed to keep her hooks in.
Phyllis said Christine wants to play dirty.
Christine said she didn’t. She’d had enough ugliness in her life.
Phyllis said Christine had brought it on herself.
Christine said she had two words for Phyllis. “Bite me!” She left the room.
Phyllis tells Lauren that she tried to make peace with Christine.
Lauren scoffs. “Have you? Really?”
Crimson Lights
Nina tells Christine she’s sorry things didn’t work out between her and Paul.
Christine says she thinks it’s the right thing… Paul isn’t in love with her, so she has to focus on moving forward. They’re different people than when they first met.
Nina says people change. Look at both of them! She went from a pregnant teen who was sleeping on a park bench to…
Christine smiles. Nina is a bestselling author and screenwriter now. Quite the transformation!
Nina grins and says she had the best roommate back in the day who helped her… It made her a proper lady!
They both laugh.
Queue a medley of Nina, Christine, and Daniel, laughing and joking as Christine tried to show Nina how to be a “proper lady.”
Christine says they had some good times together.
Nina agrees. They had some not-so-good times, too!
Christine laughs. She remembers when Nina “stole” Philip from her.
Nina says she feels bad about that… But she got a wonderful son from it!
Christine agrees.
Nina smiles and says, “I’m here for you, Cricket.”
That sets Christine off, and her eyes well up with tears. She says she always has been.
Nina says that Christine was always there for her, too. She takes hold of Christine’s hand.
Flashback.
Nina thanks Christine for promising to be her son’s godmother.
Nina wanted her son to be brought up by someone who would love him, and that person was Christine. Nina told Christine that she was the only real friend she had.
Christine says she wants the best for Paul and hopes he finds what he wants in the next phase of his life. She mentions that she saw Danny last night.
Nina’s blown away. Danny is in town?
Christine says Danny is staying in town between tours to see his son and his granddaughter, Lucy. He’s staying at Daniel’s apartment.
Nina groans. That means Danny has to see Phyllis.
Christine says Phyllis has claimed she’s changed her “evil ways”. She doesn’t buy it.
Nina laughs. She asks if seeing Danny has awakened any old feelings in Christine.
Christine remembers talking with Danny about their future together.
Flashback.
Danny asks Christine what she thinks of a rock star and a lawyer getting together.
Christine says it sounds like a good book.
Danny agrees. Does the book have a happy ending?
They kiss.
Scene change.
Christine and Danny are married and planning their first dinner party.
Christine was nervous about the party, and Daniel had reassured her he’d be with her every step of the way.
Christine was happier than she’d ever imagined she could be.
Scene change.
Danny is asleep on the couch. Christine wakes him up by dripping water on him, quickly dropping the ice cube into his coffee cup so he wouldn’t know what it was.
Danny figured it out quickly, seeing a single ice cube in his coffee cup. He asked Christine for a kiss and dropped the ice cube down her back, as they laughed together.
Christine and Nina laugh at the memories. Christine says she could use some fun right now.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Daniel and his father sit and talk over drinks.
Danny says he ran into Christine, but Daniel shouldn’t think there’s anything between them.
Daniel laughs and says he can’t ignore all the history between them.
Danny says he was affected more than he thought he would be when Christine told him things were over between her and Paul.
Daniel thinks it makes sense… Danny used to love Christine, and she’s back in his life again.
Danny says that knowing that Christine is “free” stirred up a lot of feelings in him… He can’t help but think of what they had and what they could have again.
Lauren and Phyllis walk down the stairs into the lounge and join Danny and Daniel at their table.
Daniel asks if Phyllis is okay… Did something happen at work?
Phyllis says she just had a little run-in with Christine.
Daniel smirks. He says it sounds like his mom is having problems letting go of the past.
Phyllis says Christine is the one who won’t let go… She can’t accept that Phyllis is a changed woman.
Lauren tells Daniel that she keeps telling Phyllis it’s not healthy to hold onto her hatred from the past.
Phyllis nods. She’s trying!
Daniel says nobody expected Phyllis and Christine to be best friends.
Lauren agrees. Phyllis should just avoid her!
Phyllis says she’ll try, but it could be difficult in this town, so she’s going to try to make peace with Cricket.
Lauren encourages her.

Crimson Lights
Nina says Christine seems to be caught between two loves… Again.
Christine says she’s been there before, but this time it’s different… She’s not choosing between the two of them.
Nina says Paul is in the past. She wonders if Danny is the future. Does Christine think she’ll reignite a romance with him?
Christine doesn’t know. They’ve had a lot of stops and starts.
Nina asks Christine if she’d want to regain what she had with Danny all those years ago.
Christine doesn’t want to get hurt so deeply again.
Nina says it wasn’t Danny’s fault that Christine got hurt.
Christine is well aware of whose fault it was.
Flashback.
Danny apologizes to Christine for what she had to go through with Phyllis. He never wanted it to happen.
Christine says that Danny shouldn’t tell her that he would change the past if he could, because he can’t. He didn’t have to sleep with Phyllis!
Danny tells her they could change their future.
Christine says that Danny seemed to have forgotten about their son. He never asked to be brought into this world by mistake. He’s Danny’s responsibility! She asks Danny to leave.
Danny kisses a protesting Christine. He tells her that he loved her and never stopped loving her. He leaves.
Christine screams after Danny. “How could you do this?”
Nina asks if Christine is ready for a do-over with Danny.
Christine says Nina’s getting ahead of herself.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Lauren says goodbye; she’s got a meeting to attend.
Phyllis thanks her for being such a great friend.
Lauren says she’s been on Christine’s bad side several times, but they made it through. She says they’ve shared some past romantic partners (Danny looks over quizzically as she says that), but she doesn’t think Phyllis should think about Christine when she’s having good times with Daniel and Danny. She should be making new memories!
Crimson Lights
Christine tells Nina that she missed her chance with Danny.
Nina says Christine and Danny are both single… Is there any reason she should explore the possibility of a relationship? Maybe the timing is right!
Lauren walks into the cafe and greets them both with a hug.
Christine asks how Lauren is and inquires about Michael.
Lauren says Michael’s still dealing with Gloria… She can get herself into some interesting situations, and who knows where she’d be if she didn’t have a son who is a “fabulous” attorney. She asks how Christine’s trip was.
Christine’s face falls. She says things are over between her and Paul.
Lauren says she’s sorry.
Nina says Christine is trying to figure out where her future is going.
Christine says she’s trying to figure out her professional life as well as her personal life.
Lauren mentions that Christine enjoyed working together with Michael… Maybe she could go back to that!
Christine laughs and says Michael wouldn’t take no for an answer.
Flashback.
Michael tells Christine that their skills and personality combined are the way to success… And he needs it to be a success! He asked her to sign a partnership agreement.
Nina asks what Christine is thinking.
Christine says Nina and Lauren have careers they love and children they care for. She wonders if she made a mistake by putting her career ahead of family.
Nina tells her not to second-guess herself.
Lauren says nobody has a crystal ball… They all make decisions based on what they know at the time.
Christine says Paul wanted a family, but she put him off.
Flashback.
Paul tells Christine she cares more about her partnership with Michael Baldwin than she does about starting a family with him.
Christine protests. She tells Paul that when she thought she was pregnant, she wasn’t excited. She wanted to be thrilled when she was carrying his baby.
Paul tells her that there’s always something… She’ll never find time to have a baby, it’s not convenient for her.
Christine tells Paul that they have to be in it together… It’s not the right time for her.
Paul walks away without a word.
Tears roll down Christine’s face as she talks with Nina and Lauren.
Nina says that Christine was able to make a difference in the lives of other people’s children, even though she didn’t have her own. She played a significant role in Daniel’s life.
Lauren reminds Christine that she played a prominent role in Fen’s life, too.
Christine says she had a chance to have a child with Paul, but…
Flashback.
Paul smooths Christine’s hair back as she lies in a hospital bed, bloodied and cut up. He tells her she’s at the hospital and had surgery.
Christine asks about the car.
Paul says she’s in recovery now. She needs to rest.
Christine cries and asks about their baby. She needs to know the baby made it.
Paul, crying, tells Christine they lost their baby.
Nina says it may be too late for Christine to have a child, but it’s not too late to have a romance.
Christine smiles through her tears. She tells Lauren that Nina told her to “explore things” with Danny since he’ll be in town for a while.
Lauren asks if that’s something Christine would want.
Christine doesn’t know… She and Danny have moved on and become good friends, and she doesn’t want to ruin that. She knows Lauren and Phyllis are friends, but she doesn’t need Phyllis’s aggravation right now.
Lauren says she was just with Phyllis, and they ran into Danny and Daniel at the club. She says that Phyllis said that she regretted letting Christine get under her skin and that she wanted to do better.
Nina tells Christine to forget Phyllis.
Christine laughs. She wishes she could.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Daniel tells Phyllis he keeps hearing great things about her work at OmegaSphere.
Phyllis smiles. She says she’s working hard and taking every opportunity to be a better person. She declares it “Day one of my Christine-free brain.”
Danny laughs and says it will be hard to keep that run going.
Daniel doesn’t think his mom will make it to day two.
Phyllis laughs and says, “Oh, ye of little faith!”
Daniel says Christine was great to their family. She let Daniel live with her and defended him in court.
Flashback.
Daniel was living under Christine’s roof, and he wanted to leave and live on his own. He said it must cramp her style to have a teenager underfoot.
Christine says Daniel was the son she never had. She thinks it’d be a shame if Daniel left, and she wants him to stay… It’d mean the world to his father.
Phyllis smiles and raises her glass in a toast. “Here’s to the bug… Errr I mean Christine!”
They all clink their glasses in a toast to Christine.
Crimson Lights
Lauren says she’s going to get a coffee to go and get to her meeting.
She hugs Nina and tells her that she’d love to hear from her before she goes back to L.A.
Lauren leaves.
Nina says Christine’s at a crossroads. She wishes she could write the next chapter of Christine’s life for her but says she has to do that for herself.
Christine nods. She knows.
Nina tells her not to beat herself up over her past. She had two great loves, and that’s more than many people could hope for.
Christine says she’s grateful for everything she’s had… And she has a wonderful friend who’s helped her over the years. She has a better idea of what direction she wants to go now.
Nina says she can go anywhere, but she has a friend who wants to go along for the ride!
They hug, smiling.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Danny and Daniel mock-fight over the bill, with Daniel winning out.
Daniel asks his mom to come with him to his meeting. Someone is going to pitch a video game for the OmegaSphere platform, and he’d like Phyllis’s take on it.
Phyllis says she has a ton of opinions! She’d love to!
Danny says she’s doing really well.
Phyllis asks Danny if he’d like to have dinner with her tonight.
Christine enters the lounge at that moment, and Danny sees her. Danny tells Phyllis they’ll figure something out.

Phyllis follows Daniel up the stairs, leaving Christine and Danny to talk.

Christine smiles.
Danny asks her to listen to a piece of music he’s working on. He takes her hand and brings her over to the piano, where they sit down.
Danny starts playing a song. He asks what Christine thinks.
Christine says it’s beautiful. She puts her hand on his shoulder and listens to the music.
