Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Christine found comfort in Danny with a heartfelt celebration of Lauralee Bell’s 40th year in the iconic role.
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Nick runs into Sally in the lobby. He says he’s gotten reports from his financial team, and her new business is starting on sound footing.
Sally is excited, the website is up and running, and she’s got her first assignment coming up.
Nick’s happy to hear it. He knew she could accomplish what she put her mind to.
Sally says she couldn’t have done it without him. She tells him that Adam mentioned Victor’s health is “off” lately and asks how he’s doing.
Nick nods. So Adam talked with her about his father’s condition.
Newman Enterprises
Adam walks into the office and asks his father if they could have a drink after work… There are some things he’d like to run by him.
Victor says it’s a good idea; he’s looking forward to it. He asks Adam to find a way to streamline Kirsten Incorporated so it would be beneficial to Newman Media.
As Victor talks, Nate walks up to the door and hears him.
Adam begins telling his father that he gave Kirsten back to Sharon but stops since Victor seems confused.
Nate asks if everything is okay.
The Abbott Mansion
Kyle asks Billy what’s up… He seems agitated.
Billy says Kyle’s coming after his job. He knows that Kyle told Jack he wouldn’t come back to Jabot unless he was in the co-CEO chair.
Kyle figures Billy doesn’t think he deserves it.
Billy says whether he deserves it or not is irrelevant… It’s his job. Billy’s the co-CEO of Jabot, and Jack trusts him because Billy is loyal to him and the company that their father built. He’s doing a good job, and he’s not going anywhere!
Society
Ashley walks into the restaurant and sees Tucker sitting at the bar. She sits down beside him. “Hello again.”
Tucker says hello back.
Ashley asks if that’s all they have to say to each other after all they’ve been through.
Tucker doesn’t think there’s much else to say.
Ashley thinks there should be more… They both deserve better.
Tucker says there’s something she should know… He’s started annulment proceedings, and Ashley will be hearing from his attorney soon.
Ashley says she shouldn’t be surprised, but she is. She thanks him for taking care of it.
Tucker says there’s no point in waiting. He got an annulment because they were married for “five minutes.”
Ashley laughs. She says they had fun in those five minutes. She says she’s sorry for her part in how things ended between them, but it seems like a waste that they need to act like strangers.
Tucker asks if she’s looking to be friends.
Ashley says they could be just two people who’ve been through stuff together and share commonalities.
Tucker doesn’t think it’s going to work.
Ashley asks if they could at least be in the same room as each other without causing each other pain… They share a grandchild, after all.
Tucker nods. He laughs ironically and says he doesn’t trust Ashley or her motives anymore.
Ashley asks if there’s anything she can do to change it.
Tucker says it’s ironic… Now, the shoe is on the other foot. She’s got to convince him that there’s a future for them.
Ashley says that in spite of his atrocious behavior in Paris, she can envision a future with him where they can be civil to each other, and down the line, they can be friends.
Tucker says they can go shopping together and get mani/pedis.
Ashley asks if Tucker wants her to beg and plead with him when he’s just going to say no anyhow.
Tucker says it’s a waste of time.
Ashley asks why.
Tucker says he believes in her powers of persuasion, but he doesn’t trust her motives at all.
Ashley asks why she’d waste her time and energy seeing if they have a future together.
Tucker interrupts her and says he knows she only wants to know if he has anything planned against her and her family.
Ashley says she’d be a fool not to wonder about it. She asks why Tucker won’t admit he’s going after Jabot since he hates her and her family so much.
Tucker says he doesn’t want anything from her or her family.
Ashley doesn’t believe him. She knows him too well and has a bad feeling he’s out for vengeance.
Tucker raises his eyebrows at her. Maybe! Or maybe he likes watching her squirm, just like she and Jack did when he first came back to town.
Ashley says Tucker worked so hard to become a better man. He doesn’t sound like the “new improved Tucker” he was trying to be.
Tucker scoffs. He left the new improved Tucker in a Paris hotel room along with his broken heart.
Ashley dabs a tear from her eye and tells Tucker that the man in that hotel room was a monster who terrified her with his anger because he didn’t get what he wanted.
Tucker says he’s not going to justify himself to her. He’s not sure he even cares anymore!
Ashley says Tucker swung from deeply loving her to hating her completely. She wonders if he ever loved her at all.
Tucker asks what difference it makes… She wrecked it, and he’s not about to go back for seconds!
Ashley asks him why he won’t admit that he wants payback.
Tucker says maybe he does want payback. He closes his eyes and gestures… Or maybe he’s let everything go! Either way, he won’t let her know which path he’s chosen.
The Abbott Mansion
Kyle tells Billy he might be doing a good job at Jabot for now, but he always implodes.
Billy asks how it is okay to make a play for a job that’s not his.
Kyle says it was his job.
Billy says it’s not his job anymore. He walked away from it to work with his ex-wife.
Kyle says he was forced out of that job.
Billy says Jack has offered him the COO position… Is he too good for that job?
Kyle says Jabot hasn’t had a COO in years. It’s a token position! He deserves something better.
Billy asks if Kyle’s always been this entitled.
Kyle says he wants respect… Just like Billy!
Billy says Kyle’s acting like a spoiled brat.
Kyle says Adam’s opinion doesn’t mean much to him.
Billy says it’s tearing Jack apart, and Kyle seems to be having fun with it.
Kyle says he’s not trying to hurt anyone. He was forced out in favor of Summer, and his father chose his ex-wife over him.
Billy reminds Kyle that Marchetti is Summer’s company. She hired Kyle… Why wouldn’t she get the company in the divorce?
Kyle says he never expected sympathy from Billy.
Billy says Kyle is spoiled. As long as he’s happy, he doesn’t care who he hurts.
Kyle says he’s right. He’s right about everything. He has been selfish and spoiled, and he’s been acting entitled to a job that he hasn’t earned.
Billy looks skeptical.
Kyle says he doesn’t want to break his father’s heart… That’s the last thing he wants to do.
Billy asks if Kyle just figured that out right now.
Kyle says he did… Billy wins.
Newman Enterprises
In the elevator lobby, Nate tells Adam that Victor’s condition seems to be getting worse… He forgot that Kirsten Inc. and Newman Media weren’t connected anymore.
Adam says he hopes to change that… He spoke to a specialist, and there could be treatments to help his memory. He told Victoria and Nick about it as well.
Nate asks what Victoria and Nick’s reaction was to that.
Adam says they dismissed him and made it clear they don’t want him involved because they think he has ulterior motives.
Nate isn’t surprised by that. He says that must have been hard to hear.
Adam says he can’t worry about it; he has to focus on his father.
Nate says he can speak to Victoria on Adam’s behalf.
Adam says there’s nothing he could say to Victoria that would change her mind about him. He’s going to move forward without them and will take care of Victor on his own. He steps into the elevator and leaves the offices.
Sally’s GCAC Suite
Nick thanks Sally for allowing him to come up to her suite. Talking about his dad in a public place is awkward.
Sally understands. She’s sorry for everything that his family is going through hard times with Victor’s memory issues.
Nick says they’ve been keeping it quiet. He’d hoped Adam would have been more discreet.
Sally says Nick just told her about it.
Nick says the difference is that he’s not looking for sympathy.
Sally says she was there when Adam needed someone to talk to. She won’t say anything to anyone.
Nick says he’s not upset with her; he’s upset with Adam.
Sally says it must be stressful for all of them.
Nick says Adam probably sees it as an opportunity.
Sally says she doesn’t think that’s true, but she doesn’t want to talk about Adam. She wants to talk about Nick.
Nick says he’s scared for his father.

Newman Enterprises
Victor asks Nate who was there last… Was it Nicholas, or was it Adam?
Nate says it was Adam.
Victor nods. “Right.”
Nate says he overheard Victor talking with Adam about the Kirsten deal like it was in the works.
Victor says that’s not in the works anymore… He gave the company back to Sharon. Did he say otherwise?
Nate says he did.
Victor looks concerned. “What’s happening to me?”
The Abbott Mansion
Billy isn’t sure why Kyle has about-faced… He’s no longer coming after his job? Kyle was ready to fight him for it.
Kyle says Billy wanted him to feel bad about what he’s putting his dad through, and he was successful. He’s embarrassed. Does he need to beat himself up for Billy’s entertainment? He tells him to take the win.
Billy asks if Kyle’s saying that he’s going to come back to Jabot as the COO.
Kyle says he’s not going to be a spoiled brat anymore. He has to accept the situation as it is. He knows that his father wants to be loyal to Billy, and he’s got to accept that.
Billy says it’s not about loyalty. He’s earned his position and is doing a good job.
Kyle says he knows… He won’t force the issue and isn’t going to return to Jabot.
Jack enters the house and asks what’s going on.
Society
Ashley tells Tucker she’s amazed that he’s so bitter and angry that he can’t give her peace of mind.
Tucker says he’s not angry, but he enjoys letting her think he’s out to get her.
Ashley says he’s still angry, no matter how many times she’s apologized for her part.
Tucker asks how often she made him apologize and grovel at her feet. How many hoops did she make him jump through to win her back? He asks if she ever loved him, or this was a setup to rip his heart out for whatever he did to her years ago.
Ashley says she loved him… Completely.
Tucker has a hard time believing she could love him with her cold, cruel heart. He doubts she ever felt anything for him. They were partners!
Ashley says he wanted her to give up everything… Her family, her father’s company, and her identity!
Tucker says that’s what people do for the ones they love.
Ashley says she would never force Tucker to choose between her and his family, but she had to pay that price to be with him. If he could only acknowledge that he treated her awfully in Paris, then maybe they could find a way back from this.
Tucker says there’s no way back.
Ashley asks if Tucker really ever loved her.
Tucker says Ashley’s playing it beautifully… She has enough remorse in her voice to make her sound sincere, but he’s suspicious of her and has no trust left for her. He gets up, throws some money on the table, and tells Ashley she’s managed to push him away completely.
Ashley says he never answered her question about whether he loved her… Guess that’s her answer.
Tucker just leaves without saying a word.
Ashley sits at the bar, crying.
Outside, Tucker collapses against the wall, sobbing. He takes a minute to collect himself and leaves.
The Abbott Mansion
Billy tells Jack that Kyle had an epiphany.
Kyle says he just had a frank discussion with Billy about his pursuit of the co-CEO role at Jabot… And he’s realized that he needs to head in another direction.
Jack asks what the new direction is.
Kyle says he’ll let him know when he’s ready. He figured that Jack would choose Billy, so he’s pursued some other options. He apologizes for putting his father in a position where he had to choose between his son and his brother.
Jack appreciates his apology. He wishes Kyle would reconsider the position of COO.
Kyle says it’s a consolation prize. He wants something meaningful, and it’s time for him to move on and find himself elsewhere.
Jack says he wishes he could find himself in the family at Jabot.
Newman Enterprises
Nate says there’s something Victor needs to know.
Victor asks if it’s about his condition.
Nate says Adam told him he’s consulted with a specialist to get some advice.
Victor says Adam is building a case against him. He’s positive Adam wants to remove him as CEO!
Nate says he’s not sure that’s true.
Victor says his kids are power-grabbers, and they’re after him.
Nate tells him that he shouldn’t take this the wrong way, but he’s been struggling, and perhaps it’s time he took some distance from it all… Maybe Victor should consider a leave of absence.
Victor says the company is unstable, and if he left now, it would look like weakness.
Nate says they could make up an excuse and cover it up.
Victor says it would never work. The stability of Newman is what matters here.
Nate says Victor’s health is what matters most.
Victor says he won’t let Adam or Victoria steal the company from him.
Nate says taking a leave of absence is a safe move. It takes away any chance of Adam exploiting Victor’s condition if he were in a power position and remove him permanently.
Victor asks Nate what difference it would make if he stepped down suddenly. How can he find a way to beat it?
Sally’s GCAC Suite
Sally asks Nick if he thinks Victor’s condition is serious.
Nick doesn’t know. He hates the uncertainty.
Sally hopes Nick and Victoria can work together with Adam to help their father.
Nick isn’t so sure.
Sally says a family crisis can bring people together.
Nick says he’ll make sure that Victor gets the treatment he needs. He thinks it’s interesting that Adam would bring this up to Sally… She must be close with him again, or he wouldn’t bring up something so private with her.
Sally doesn’t say anything.
Nick takes her silence as a “yes.” He figures Sally must have taken his advice and is trying to figure out what her relationship with Adam really means to her.
The Abbott Mansion
Kyle says he needs to do something for himself and see where things take him. It’s a way for him to pay his dues and become a better Kyle Abbott.
Jack asks what changed his mind about replacing Billy.
Kyle says Billy told him how self-righteous he’d been acting.
Jack says it’s harsh. He wishes Kyle would let him know what he’s got in the works.
Kyle says he’ll let Jack and Diane know. He thanks Billy for helping him see things clearly. He takes his jacket and leaves the house.
Jack looks at Billy, confused. “How the hell did that just happen?”
Billy says he doesn’t know, but he doesn’t think Kyle is being sincere. He gets a drink and explains that he confronted Kyle and let him know that he was being an entitled jerk.
Jack says a confrontation was inevitable… And then Kyle just saw the light?
Billy says it was too sudden. Kyle has been trying to get Jack to push him out for months, with no signs of backing down until suddenly, Billy tells him he’s being a jerk, and then he’s taking a different line? It doesn’t add up!
Jack wonders if Kyle’s trying to save face.
Ashley comes home and listens as they speak.
Billy says it feels like he’s trying to throw them off.
Ashley asks who’s throwing him off. Did they hear from Tucker?
Billy asks why they’d hear from Tucker… What’s he done now?
The GCAC
Sally and Nick walk down the stairs into the lobby. Sally says she’ll keep the details of their conversation to herself.
Nick thanks her for her discretion.
Adam enters the club and tells Nick he needs to talk.
Sally says she has to get to a meeting. She leaves.
Adam tells Nick that he came from the office, where Victor had another of his “moments.” He says that Victor talked about merging Kirsten and Newman Media. Adam says they can’t stand by and do nothing… They have to find out what’s going on with their father!
Nick shakes his head. He can’t trust that Adam has their father’s best interests at heart.
Newman Enterprises
Nate tells Victor the sooner he gets medical attention, the better the chances are to stop things before they get worse. He needs testing to find out what’s going on; it’s the only way to figure out if the condition can be reversed or treated.
Victor asks if he can make this happen.
Nate says he heard back from his medical contacts, and arrangements can be made.
Victor asks if they’re trying to “put him away.”
Nate says it would be voluntary treatment, and it would only be for a few days or weeks at most.
Victor asks what their cover story would be.
Nate says Victor could go on an “extended business trip,” just like he has in the past… It’s Victor’s call, and this is how to handle his condition head-on.
The GCAC
Adam tells Nick he knows he doesn’t trust him, but he cares about their father’s health.
Nick says Adam only cares about himself.
Adam says not in this case.
Nick reminds him that he messed with Victor’s medication when he was sick before.
Adam says that was a dark moment for him. He doesn’t want to repeat that, and he’s trying to help their dad. He explains that he’s arranged to meet Victor for drinks, and the specialist will casually drop by.
Nick smirks and says ambushing their father with some random doctor isn’t the way to go about things.
Adam says it’s better than nothing. He’ll steer the conversation in a way so that the specialist can do an initial assessment.
Nick figures their dad will quickly figure out what’s happening.
Adam says he hopes he does! That means that he’s still Victor Newman and maybe just needs rest or vitamins. If he doesn’t pick up on it, it’s just another symptom.
Nick doesn’t like it.
Adam asks him to join them so he can observe firsthand. They need to let it play out until they know something, one way or another.
Nick agrees. He’s in.
The Abbott Mansion
Ashley tells Jack and Billy that she just came from seeing Tucker, so she thought he might have contacted one of them.
Jack says they were talking about Kyle.
Billy fills Ashley in about how Kyle wanted Billy’s job, but he backed down.
Ashley can’t believe Kyle would put Jack in a position between his brother and his son… That’s not fair.
Billy says Kyle’s turnabout seemed too abrupt.
Ashley figures that he might have finally realized he was wrong… It happens.
Jack asks if that’s how Ashley felt when she saw Tucker.
Billy asks what’s going on with Tucker… What happened?
Ashley says Tucker doesn’t trust her at all.
Billy figures Tucker is still scheming against them.
Jack says Tucker wouldn’t walk away gracefully.
Billy says that ironically, Kyle is the closest one to Tucker right now because of his relationship with Audra. He says he asked Kyle to use Audra to spy on Tucker for them a while ago, but he refused.
Ashley wonders if Kyle was being loyal to his girlfriend.
Billy told Kyle that the company and the family was on the line, but he still refused. He thinks Kyle is looking out for himself and isn’t concerned about the company or family. He wonders if they’re missing a connection.
Billy thinks Tucker might be using Kyle against them.
Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Tucker pours himself a drink and tosses it back. There’s a knock at the door. It’s Kyle, and Tucker lets him in.
Tucker says it’s time for Kyle to prove himself and take the next step.
Kyle says he’s ready… He won’t let Tucker down.
Next Week on The Young and the Restless
Tessa and Mariah express their fears about Aria to Sharon.
Victor calls a meeting with his family and Nate. He says it’s time to tell them all the truth.
Nina gets a call from the hospital about her son.
