Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Danny chose Christine over Phyllis, while Billy & Adam put aside their differences to help Connor.
Chancellor-Winters
Nate drops off some stuff on Billy’s desk.
Devon walks in and jokes that Nate’s checking out the big office while Billy’s gone.
Nate says his power grabs are behind him; he’s just dropping off some documents to support Chance’s pitch.
Devon thinks the music festival is a great idea, and it was a great idea when Nate pitched it before, as well, but the timing wasn’t right. He sees value in doing something like the music festival now.
Nate hopes that Billy will see that as well. He thinks Billy could have been more agreeable to Chance’s idea.
Devon thinks Billy said no because Devon said yes to it.
Nate says it’s the only thing that makes sense; Billy’s been pulling for Chance in every other way and has taken him under his wing.
Devon nods. He says Billy wanted Devon to keep Chance looped in on the executive decisions while he’s out of town.
Mamie walks in as they’re talking and says Billy Abbott is too full of himself. She says he’s shooting down good ideas, trying to add the Abbott name to the company, and coming and going as he pleases… Didn’t he just leave town?
Devon says Billy had personal issues to deal with… They talked about it, and it’s fine.
Mamie says Billy is more invested in other things than he is in the family business. She suggests it’s time to consider grooming Chance to be their ally.
The Genoa City Athletic Club (GCAC)
Nina and Chance meet in the club, and Chance hugs his mom in greeting. Nina says she’ll never tire of seeing Chance in a suit.
Chance laughs and asks if she wants to pick up his dry-cleaning bill.
Nina says she’d love to… It means he’s working in an office, not on a police case! She’s relieved that the only injury he’ll be risking is a paper cut.
Chance says he’s not so sure about that.
Nina wonders if he’s talking about office politics; he was vague on the phone… Is everything okay?
Chance says it’s fine… He’s getting used to the new job, and it’s not just numbers and spreadsheets.
Nina asks if he likes it.
Chance shrugs. Sure.
Nina looks concerned. She says he doesn’t have to say that just to appease her.
Chance says work’s fine; in fact, it’s exciting!
Nina won’t give up. She says she can tell something’s got him down… What is it? Is he sorry he resigned as police chief?
Chance says C-suite players can be just as slippery as criminals.
Newman Ranch
Nikki, Claire, Cole, Victoria, and Victor are in the living room of the Newman house. Nikki says she’s certain that Jordan is behind Seth contacting her, and she has her phone number; it’s the opportunity they’ve been waiting for!
Victor, Cole, and Victoria ask for Nikki to explain exactly what happened.
Nikki recounts how she’d met Seth at Crimson Lights, and he kept talking about “Isabel” from their AA meetings. She says that “Isabel” had told him she was an old friend of Nikki’s and encouraged Seth to reconnect with Nikki… But Nikki doesn’t know anyone named Isabel!
Cole asks if Isabel matches Jordan’s description.
Nikki says she didn’t match the description, but Jordan loves disguises, so who knows!
Victor says this is a reason he never wanted Nikki to leave the ranch… Seth could have led Jordan right to her!
Nikki says he didn’t, and Seth is as suspicious as she is ever since she told him she didn’t know an Isabel.
Cole asks if Seth knows where Jordan is staying. If he does, they can call the cops and have them check the place out.
Nikki says Seth told her that Isabel approached him at a bar, but he didn’t say which one.
The Empty Glass Lounge
Jordan sits in the bar. She looks around furtively, then dumps the rest of her drink in a dish tray beside her.
Seth comes back, wobbling, with another drink for them both. He looks at her suspiciously, like he saw her dump her drink, and says, “Two more for the road!” He asks her what the real story is with her and Nikki.
Jordan says she can’t believe that Nikki said she didn’t remember her. She’s denying that they’re friends?
Seth says Nikki said she’s never known anyone named Isabel.
Jordan says she must have let her down… Nikki hates her that much!
Seth reminds “Isabel” that they partied a lot back in those days… Maybe Nikki just doesn’t remember her.
Jordan says it’s not right. She says she’s changed her mind; she wants to see Nikki. She asks him to call Nikki and set up a meeting with her… Somewhere private and out of the way, and Isabel will join him. She needs to look Nikki in the eye… There’s no way Nikki could have forgotten her; once Nikki sees her, it’ll all come flooding back.
Seth takes a drink of his beer and nods. He says he’s sure she’s right. It’ll all come flooding back, especially after she sees Jordan out of “that cheap wig.”
Jordan says, “Excuse me?”
Seth says he never really noticed it at first, but it’s obvious when you look for it.
Jordan says it’s impolite to comment on a woman’s appearance.
Seth tells her to cut the crap. He gets angry and says she’s not Nikki Newman’s long-lost friend… She’s the monster who kidnapped Nikki and forced vodka into her and made her fall off the wagon!
Jordan claims she doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Maybe he’s had one too many!
Seth laughs and says that’s a sign that she’s not who she says she is… A couple of drinks isn’t enough to get him “sloshed,” and he saw her throwing the drink in the bus cart!
Jordan gets up from the table and says she doesn’t have to listen to this.
Seth grabs her arm and tells her she’s despicable and she’s not going anywhere.
Newman Ranch
Nikki says she asked Seth to string Isabel along to buy them a little time, but they shouldn’t wait on this…
Victor says he’s not waiting for Seth to do something. He’s calling his security and the police. He tells her not to do anything until he returns. He leaves the room.
Victoria can’t believe Jordan is still finding ways to get to them.
Cole says it’s outrageous. He can’t believe Jordan infiltrated Nikki’s AA group.
Nikki says she’s lucky she figured out Jordan’s game before she could do any real damage.
Victoria hopes so. She says that Nikki still seems shaken up by it.
Claire thinks she knows why Nikki is upset… Having Claire out of the hospital and living in her home must be unnerving. She apologizes.
Nikki tells Claire not to feel that way… She’s family and is welcome in the Newman home!
Claire says Nikki must still be furious about what Claire and Jordan put her through, and pretending those feelings don’t exist isn’t healthy for any of them.
The GCAC Dining Room
Nina asks Chance who’s being “slippery” at the office. She wants names!
Chance tells her it’s nothing like that, but he feels like he’s caught in some kind of power play between Billy and Devon.
Nina asks what the powerplay is about; Devon and Billy both have plenty of power at the company!
Chance says he thinks Devon resents that Jill brought Billy into a high-level position in the company without consulting him.
Nina knows Devon and Billy worked together in the past… Why would Chance think that?
Chance says Billy was mentoring him, and it’s going well… He’s been invited to meetings and Billy has been answering all his questions, so that’s going good. He explains that he pitched a big idea the other day, and Devon liked it.
Nina nods. “Good!”
Chance says it was good until Billy saw that Devon was showing interest, and then Billy had an about-face and basically dismissed Chance’s proposal in front of everyone.
Nina thinks that’s pretty rotten of Billy… That must have stung.
Chance says he doesn’t care about rejection… He’s almost been killed in the field before and can handle someone turning down his proposal. He just doesn’t want to be used as a pawn between Billy and Devon.
Nina asks if he can talk to Billy about it.
Chance says he tried to, but Billy denied it. He says Billy left town on a personal matter and made Chance his eyes and ears.
Nina can’t believe that Billy would shoot down Chance’s idea but wants him to report back to him.
Chance nods. He says it makes him feel like he’s working undercover; spying on the people he’s supposed to be “in” with.
Nina asks what he’s going to do.
Chance says he’s got to figure out how to play it; this isn’t the last time someone will make him pick sides.
Nina tells him he doesn’t have to stay at Chancellor-Winters if he doesn’t want to.
Chance says that’s a 180… Doesn’t his mom like him in the suit?
Nina laughs and tells him she loves the suit, but he should leave the job if he needs to. She says she wants him behind a desk, but Chancellor-Winters isn’t the only place he can do that. She wants him safe and happy; just because his name is Chancellor doesn’t mean he has to work there! It’s his birthright, but the choice has to be his.
Chance says he could leave… Or, he could stay and turn things to his advantage!
Chancellor-Winters
Devon tells Mamie it’s not a good idea to use Chance as part of some “backroom maneuver.”
Mamie says Billy and Jill don’t have a problem doing just that… It’s clear they’re grooming Chance!
Nate says Chance is a Chancellor… It makes sense.
Devon says there’s enough tension between him and Billy without using Chance as a pawn… And Devon likes Chance and his ideas.
Devon says it doesn’t help when Mamie talks about “sides.”
Mamie says Billy Abbott doesn’t belong at the company, and Devon knows it. She thinks Billy is scheming how to grab more power from Devon… It’s just the way Billy thinks! He’s always been a gambler at heart who tries to get the upper hand.
Amanda walks in and overhears what they’re talking about. She says she doesn’t think it’s fair to say that Billy is the one with power on his mind. She says this must be the famous Mamie Johnson; she’s honored to meet her!
Mamie knows who this must be… Ms. Sinclair!
They shake hands, and Amanda says she’s in town at Jill’s request… Jill has other commitments.
Mamie says Amanda can be straight with them… Jill sent her here to spy on them!
Amanda laughs.
Devon says he and Nate have work to do.
Nate thinks they can get together some other time.
Amanda says she’s always wanted to meet Mamie… It’s not just anyone who can take on Jill Abbott!
Mamie looks at Amanda in a new light and says maybe they should go and have some drinks together.
Devon says Mamie doesn’t need to do that.
Mamie wants to. She has a message she’d like to give Amanda to pass onto Jill for her.
Amanda’s intrigued… What type of message?
Mamie says she has a proposition that might put this “imaginary battle” behind them.
The GCAC Dining Room
Chance says Devon and Billy are distracting, and this is a chance for him to prove he’s above all that.
Nina cringes and says she doesn’t like the sound of that… She thought her days of worrying were over. She thinks he’s putting himself in the middle of a fight!
The Abbott Mansion
Cole tells Claire they all have feelings about what happened to them, but they’re all working through them.
Victoria says Nikki means it when she says that Claire is welcome there.
Nikki says Claire is right; anger doesn’t begin to describe how she feels about what Jordan is continuing to do to them all… And Claire is a reminder of all that.
Victoria says, “Mom!”
Claire holds up her hand and says it’s okay… She wants to hear this.
Nikki says she sees Victoria’s strength and intelligence when she looks at Claire, and she’s determined to get to the point where she won’t think about Jordan when Claire walks into the room; she won’t let Jordan have that kind of power over her! She’s happy that Claire’s recovery has gone so well that a judge approved her release.
Claire thanks her and promises she won’t make her regret it.
Nikki says it’s Claire’s home now… For as long as she needs it.
Claire hugs Nikki, and Nikki hugs her back. Claire asks, “What do I need to do about my Aunt Jordan?”

The Empty Glass Lounge
Jordan tells Seth she needs some air.
Seth doesn’t say a word but continues to hold her arm.
Jordan says he bought her a lot of drinks, and not all of them were dumped.
Seth says he was trying to get her drunk so she’d slip up and say something, but she’s as tough nut to crack.
Jordan tries to wrench her hand free, but Seth doesn’t let go. She sits down, defeated, and says, “Fine. You got me!” She says she lied about knowing Nikki as well as she claimed… They’re not best friends, but she has no idea what Seth is talking about… Kidnapping? Forcing vodka into her veins? That’s insane!
Seth nods. It sure is!
Jordan asks who would do something like that… It sure wasn’t her!
Seth says there’s an easy way to find out; they’ll go meet with Nikki and Victor, just like “Isabel” asked… And they’ll bring some cops for good measure, just in case their suspicions about her are correct! He says if she’s telling the truth, the laugh will be on him… Sound like a plan?
Chancellor-Winters
Nate and Devon are alone in the office. Nate tells Devon he doesn’t have much patience left with Mamie… She’s determined to drive a wedge between the Chancellors and the Winters; she wants to create a problem where there isn’t one!
Devon says Mamie is stirring things up, but he wouldn’t go so far as to say there’s a wedge between them.
Nate says Billy coming on board drew a line that didn’t exist while Lily was there.
Devon says Nate’s right… He never got the “us vs them” vibe until Jill brought Billy in, and he agrees with Mamie; Billy probably does want more power and control.
Nate says he’s all for keeping their eyes on Billy, but Billy left town with all this going on, and that doesn’t sound like a man who’s power-hungry.
Devon says he doesn’t have a problem with Billy taking personal time, but he thinks Billy enjoys having an office, does what he wants to, and leaves when he wants to leave. He says Chance feels like he’s already more committed to the business.
Nate asks if Devon thinks Mamie’s right… Does he think they should cozy up to Chance?
Devon shrugs. He says Mamie’s not wrong in thinking Chance would be a good ally if things got messy.
The GCAC Dining Room
Chance tells Nina that he’s not looking for any trouble at Chancellor-Winters. He wants to prove that he’s the adult in the room and has the company’s best interests at heart, not his own. He thinks Nate is in the same position; Nate told him that he was in the same position as Chance… Nate was putting out ideas and got shot down, so maybe he’s the one that Chance needs to align with. He doubts Nate likes what’s going on between Devon and Billy.
Nina shakes her head. All this talk about alliances!
Amanda and Mamie walk into the dining room, and Nina notices them and calls out a greeting. She asks Chance if he knew that Amanda was back in town.
Chance says he did.
Nina says Chance was telling her how exciting it is to work at such an amazing company.
Amanda smiles and says Jill is thrilled to have Chance working there.
Mamie nods. She says Devon and Nate are always singing Chance’s praises, and they said there’s a proposal they’re excited about. Mamie says she looks forward to what Chance does in the future. She says they’ll leave them to their “mother and son date,” and she says Nina must be proud… Chance is brilliant and handsome, too!
Nina says she is proud.
Chance laughs and says they’re doing wonders for his ego.
Amanda and Nina head to the bar, where they take a seat. Mamie says Chance is a lovely man, and she’s impressed with how well he and Devon work together.
Amanda says Jill will be happy to hear Mamie say that.
Mamie says there’s history between her and Jill, but adults learn to let things go.
Amanda asks if Mamie’s learned to let go of her grudge against Jill.
Chance watches Amanda and Mamie talking. He tells his mom this isn’t good… There’s no reason for those two to be meeting alone. Something’s up!
Mamie tells Amanda that what she feels about Jill isn’t a grudge.
Amanda asks how she’d describe it.
Mamie says they should have drinks first… They’ll be nicer that way!
Newman Ranch
Claire says the Newmans got her out of the hospital to help them catch Jordan, and she’s ready!
Victor says that since they have a phone number for Jordan, it’s time for Claire to reach out to her.
Victoria asks Claire if she’s sure she’s up for it… She doesn’t have to do it tonight.
Cole agrees. He says talking to Jordan won’t be easy; it’s bound to bring up a lot of feelings. He says she can wait until morning after she’s had a good night’s sleep.
Victor tells Cole that time is of the essence.
Nikki says Jordan clearly has a plan if she’s using Seth to get to her. They should take advantage of Jordan’s slip-up.
Claire agrees and says she won’t be able to sleep well until they get this taken care of. Maybe a phone call will give them a better idea of what Jordan is up to, and then Victor will be able to make sure she won’t be able to torment them ever again.
Victor nods. “You bet!”
The Empty Glass Lounge
Jordan tells Seth his grip is very strong; he’s hurting her! She asks him to let her go.
Seth shakes his head. Not unless she agrees to meet with Nikki and Victor.
Jordan sighs and says, “Fine.” She says the laugh will be on Seth; he’d better be prepared to apologize!
Seth lets go of her hand. “We’ll see.”
Jordan pulls her hand away and gets up from the table. She says she’s going to get the air she needs.
Seth says they’ll both go outside and they’ll call Nikki together.
Jordan asks if that’s really necessary.
Seth tells her he’s not letting her out of his sight. He follows her outside.
Jordan tells him to make the call… She’s looking forward to the reunion!
Seth goes to make the call. A car approaches on the street, and while Seth’s back is turned, Jordan pushes him into its path.
Jordan runs into the bar, yelling for someone to call 911… There’s been an accident! She says she tried to get him to stop, but he just said he wanted everything to end. She says his last words were, “Tell Nikki Newman I’m sorry!” and then he walked right out in front of the car and killed himself in front of her!
The waiter and other patrons rush outside.
Jordan takes the opportunity and heads out the back door of the restaurant.
Newman Ranch
Claire asks Nikki for Jordan’s number. She punches it into her phone and makes the call. There’s no answer; it just went straight to voicemail for “Isabel.”
Victor tells her to hang up. She does, and Victor tells her to be patient; they can’t let Jordan know they’re on to her.
Cole asks if Claire’s okay.
Victoria says she looks disappointed.
Claire says she’d psyched herself up and hoped that things would be finished soon so they could get on with their lives. She wants to focus on her future, but she can’t do it until Jordan’s dealt with.
Nikki takes Claire’s hand. “Amen to that!”
Chancellor-Winters
Nate tells Devon he’s wondering if this might be about Devon’s need to always be in the middle of a corporate scuffle. Everyone talks about Billy “jonesing” for a win, but maybe it’s Devon who’s really looking for the adrenaline hit.
Devon asks where this is coming from.
Nate says first it was Lily, then it was Nate, and now, it’s happening all over again with Billy. Three different battles, and Devon is the constant between them.
Devon asks if that’s how Nate really feels.
Nate says he’s just pointing out a pattern.
Devon says he was trying to protect the company and Neil’s legacy in all three of those cases. He reminds Nate that the biggest threat came from him, but he forgave Nate and gave him a second chance by hiring him back… And now Nate is trying to tell him that he’s the one with the problem?
Nate says he’s not trying to turn this into a fight; he thinks the best way to protect the company and the Winters name is by focusing on the work. They need to let Billy self-destruct… It’s what he does best, and when Billy finally does self-destruct, the company will be as strong as ever!
Devon says he’s all for it, but he won’t turn a blind eye and let them become vulnerable.
Nate says the person they should be most concerned about is in their own family… Aunt Mamie.
The GCAC Dining Room
Mamie tells Amanda she’s heard wonderful things about her over the years from both Devon and Nate.
Amanda is a bit taken aback, but she takes it in stride. She says Nate and Devon both adore Mamie; she must be happy to be spending so much time with them.
Mamie says she’s fond of her great-niece and great-nephews. She says she’s got a “different” focus in her life right now. She says family, tradition, and legacy are all very important to her right now.
Amanda says Jill has been saying the same type of thing, and Mamie and Jill are more alike than Mamie wants to admit.
Mamie says she and Jill can both get what they want, but not right now. She wants to propose that they “redivide” Chancellor-Winters.
Amanda asks if she’s proposing they undo the merger.
Mamie says it’s more complicated than that, but that’s the general idea. It’s time! That’s the message she wants Amanda to give to Jill.
Amanda says that Jill would never agree to this. It would undo Chancellor-Winters’ advances and make leadership look weak and unstable. They’d lose all public confidence!
Mamie says if that’s the case, they won’t do it publicly; they’d just do it internally. The company would remain a united front, but they’d do their paperwork to create clear internal boundaries. They’d work independently. The Winters would do their things, and the Chancellors would do theirs.
Amanda says that would defeat the purpose of the merger.
Mamie says the merger was a failed move.
Amanda says Jill would disagree with that assessment.
Mamie says they should all just get back to work and stop their infighting. They need to get back to what they all know how to do well.
Amanda asks what Mamie would gain from it.
Nina looks at Mamie and Amanda talking at the bar. She says they’re two successful women who could be working together, but they’re butting heads. She says Amanda’s stepping in for Jill, so it’s basically Jill Abbott vs Mamie Johnson. Cue the fireworks!
Chance says he’s learning that this is the business.
Nina says there’s too much posturing and politics… The two things that Chance hates.
Chance agrees. He says he has one advantage; the line between right and wrong has always been clear to him, so nobody can mess with him if he sticks to his instincts.
Nina says she can be glad that a corporate battle is safer than a shootout.
Chance says there’s been no blood… So far.
Nina says she doesn’t want Chance to become so disillusioned that he changes his mind about his career move. She needs him to be safe, but she wants him to be happy with no conflict and no drama in his life. She knows how Jill can get in a fight, and if that’s what this is, it might not be easy!
Mamie tells Amanda her only agenda is to protect her family, and right now, they’re worried about Jill and Billy. When Jill put Billy back into position, it destabilized everything. She says her plan puts an end to that threat and the doubts it caused.
Amanda says she sees Mamie’s logic and respects her motives.
Mamie says Jill will assume the worst. She asks Amanda to give the idea her blessing when she fills Jill in on it.
Amanda says she could tell Jill it’s the most brilliant idea in the world, but she knows Jill’s answer would be “no.”
Chancellor-Winters
Devon tells Nate that Mamie isn’t the problem… It’s Billy. He says that he’s questioning Nate’s loyalties since he can’t see that.
Nate asks if they’re back to that… Now Nate is the problem again?
Devon says he never said that… He said that Billy is the problem after Nate told him that Devon was the problem.
Nate says he didn’t say that… He accused Devon of having a blind spot about his role in creating conflicts.
Devon says either way, they’re not getting anywhere. He says they should wait and see what Mamie’s proposition is that she has for Jill.
Nate asks if it bothers Devon that Mamie didn’t discuss her proposition with them first.
Newman Ranch
Claire tells Victoria that she just said she wouldn’t be able to sleep, but she was wrong… She’s very tired.
Victoria says they’ve had a long day. She suggests they go upstairs so Claire can try to get some rest. They’ll call Jordan again tomorrow.
Cole agrees. He tells Claire he’s going to leave as well, and he’ll check in with her first thing in the morning. They hug.
Victoria and Claire head upstairs, and Cole leaves the house.
Nikki tells Victor that it’s a miracle that Victoria has her daughter back.
Victor says it’s more of a reason to put an end to Jordan’s threat.
Nikki looks at her phone and says she was hoping to hear back from Seth with an update, but there’s been no response yet. She wonders if she might be wrong… What if there is an Isabel, and she’s forgotten about her?
Victor says he doesn’t think they’re wrong. They’ll proceed with his original plan to stage a photoshoot in front of Victoria’s house, which will make Jordan think that’s where Claire lives.
Nikki nods. Between the photo and the news item Victor has planted about Claire being released into the Newman’s care, Jordan won’t be able to help herself!
Victor says they have Jordan right where they want her.
The Empty Glass Lounge
In the alley behind the bar, Jordan throws her bag into a garbage bin. She removes her wig, sweater, and vest and throws them in the bin as well.
With sirens in the background, Jordan pulls out a sweater and a different wig. She arranges the new wig (brown) and puts on a different pair of glasses. She finishes the look with a grey beret.
Jordan pulls out her phone and sees that she’s missed a call from an unknown number.
The GCAC Dining Room
Mamie has left the club. Amanda approaches Chance and Nina and tells them it was nice seeing them both.
Nina invites Amanda to join them, and Amanda accepts and sits down with them. Nina figures Amanda is seeing all the “heavy hitters” at Chancellor-Winters while she’s in town.
Amanda says Jill has her taking care of some things for her, but she’s happy to do it.
Nina thinks Amanda must be aware of Jill and Mamie’s “eternal feud.”
Amanda says she thinks she understands it better now… There are only two choices when two people are that much alike… Either they’re best friends or they’re mortal enemies!
Chance laughs and says he thinks they respect each other but enjoy sparring.
Amanda says not to tell his grandmother that.
Nina laughs. “Oh God, no!”
Chancellor-Winters
Mamie walks into the office and sees Nate and Devon there. “Oh good, you’re still here.”
Devon figures she came back because she has something to report about her conversation with Amanda. Was it a business proposition that she gave her?
Mamie says it was.
Devon says Mamie talked to them about drawing lines in the sand, but then she asked Amanda to send a proposition to Jill before she talked to them about it first.
Mamie says she was just testing Amanda… She threw her a line to see if she’d bite!
Nate asks if Amanda “bit.”
Mamie says Amanda saw her point of view, but Amanda figured Jill would turn Mamie down. She says it’d be nice if they’d been able to hash it out as two old friends, but a less peaceful way suits her just fine.
Newman Ranch
Victor tells Nikki he’s going to make her a cup of tea. He kisses her and leaves the room.
Nikki’s phone rings. It’s an unknown number. Nikki looks worried and glances after Victor but answers the phone anyhow. She says, “This is Nikki Newman. Who is this?”
It’s the police calling about Seth Morgan.
Nikki asks if something happened.
Officer Padilla tells her there’s been a hit and run, and Seth didn’t make it. She says a witness told the bartender that Seth had stepped in front of the car on purpose.
Nikki is aghast. “Oh my God!”

This Mamie story is so boring! She looks a mess and doesn’t seem to belong anywhere.
