Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Billy confronted Devon after he was excluded from a meeting, Adam & Chelsea united for Connor, and Ashley’s Parisian investigation intensified.
Society
Devon tells Abby she’s been in business for five years, and her restaurant is still the best in town. He thinks she’s created something unique, which keeps people coming back.
Abby says she loves it when Devon talks business with her… She finds it very exciting. She kisses him to show him how excited she is.
Tessa walks into the restaurant, and Abby tells Devon to wish her luck on her meeting with Tessa.
Devon tells Abby she won’t need luck.
Jabot Cosmetics
Lauren enters the Jabot offices and greets Jack.
Jack invites her to have a seat and asks how things are at Fenmore’s.
Lauren says everything is going great with Fenmore’s. Their spring line is selling well!
Jack’s delighted to hear that… He has a favor to ask of her!
Newman Enterprises
Nick, Victoria, and Victor are in the offices talking. Nick seeks clarity from his father, asking if the findings from Victor’s private investigator confirm that Jordan did not survive the fire at the prison.
Victor confirms that the P.I. has indicated that Jordan has died, but says it’ll take weeks before the authorities will identify the bodies using DNA.
Nick asks what they know so far.
Victor says that of all the inmates, six are unaccounted for.
Nick figures that means they haven’t found the bodies yet… Or those missing prisoners escaped during the chaos.
Victoria says Jordan could be one of the unaccounted-for prisoners and still may have escaped. She asks if Nikki has heard about the fire.
Victor nods. He says their mother saw the news reports, and it freaked her out.
Victoria asks Victor if he wishes he’d told Nikki about it as soon as he’d heard.
Victor says it would have upset Nikki more if he had told her, and they don’t even know if Jordan is alive or not.
Nick says there’s a possibility that Jordan is hitchhiking to Genoa City now.
Victoria says they have to be on high alert until they know what’s become of her.
Victor says he’s doing everything in his power to protect Nikki; he’ll know where she is every minute of the day.
Newman Media
Nikki’s desk phone rings. She picks it up, but nobody answers. She hangs up, upset.
Nikki checks her cell phone and sighs in relief when she sees no new calls. She gets back to work when her desk phone rings again. She answers and immediately cries out, “Leave me alone!” She hangs up and buries her face in her hands.
Society
Abby thanks Tessa for taking time out of her day to talk with her.
Devon asks how Aria’s hearing aids are working out.
Tessa says Aria’s life has changed for the better. She’s more curious and engaged now that she has hearing aids, and she’s less cranky, too!
Devon loves to hear it. He leaves the restaurant to let them have their meeting.
Tessa and Abby have a seat. Tessa says she’s intrigued by Abby’s invitation… Abby only wanted to meet with Tessa, not Mariah as well, so this must mean that the invitation isn’t entirely “social.”
Abby asks Tessa if she’s still modeling for Marchetti. Is it a full-time commitment?
Tessa says she has been modeling for them, but it’s been slow lately… They’ve already finished shooting for the spring line, so there’s not much going on. She says it’s sporadic lately… Is that why she’s here?
Abby says she has a proposition for Tessa.
Newman Media
Nikki paces around her office, freaked out by the phone calls. She gathers her purse and coat and leaves the office.
Newman Enterprises
Victor gets a call. It’s his security detail, who informs him that Nikki has just left the building and was picked up by a rideshare.
Victor asks them to discreetly follow her. He wants to know where she’s going.
Jabot Cosmetics
Lauren tells Jack she knew Nikki was struggling and had hoped she was doing better.
Jack says things are improving. Nikki’s reaching out to him sooner… Sometimes, she’ll even call him before she succumbs to the urge to drink.
Lauren says that’s a bit of progress.
Jack nods. He says that Nikki has a problem at work that could compound the problem. She has no assistant, and Audra has left the company. Nikki’s swamped with work right now.
Lauren asks what happened with Audra.
Jack says that’s a story for another day. Nikki is trying to appear competent, but Jack fears that the pressure of running Newman Media alone is a recipe for disaster.
Lauren says it’s lucky that Newman can choose to hire the best in the business.
Jack says that Nikki needs someone she can trust and someone who knows all the players. It needs to be someone who understands it’s a temporary position until Nikki can get control of her life again.
Lauren says that’s a big wishlist.
Jack agrees. He asks Lauren if she could step away from running Fenmore’s and help Nikki at Newman Media.
Crimson Lights
Victoria and Cole are talking over coffee. Victoria relates what her father told her about Jordan and the fire.
Cole says he spoke with Claire’s therapist, who told him that Claire hasn’t been told about what happened at the prison or that Jordan might have escaped. Cole knows that Victoria wants to keep the news from Claire, but he thinks she should know that her aunt may be on the loose again or may possibly be dead.
Victoria says Cole is right… Her first instinct was to keep the news from Claire, but she realizes it’s not fair; they have to tell her.
Cole says Claire needs to hear it from them both. They’ve earned Claire’s trust and can’t lie to her know.
Victoria agrees. Claire needs to know that they’d never keep anything from her.
Cole says as long as there’s breath in his body, Jordan will never hurt their daughter again.
Jabot Cosmetics
Lauren thanks Jack for his confidence in her, but she doesn’t have any experience in the “media world.”
Jack says she knows how the corporate world works; she’d have no problem transitioning her skills. He says she’d be a backup for Nikki on contracts and negotiations… Things she’s already familiar with. He says Nikki needs someone she can count on. Jack would do it himself, but Nikki says Victor can’t know that Jack is involved in any way.
Lauren is surprised… Does Victor know that Jack is Nikki’s AA sponsor?
Jack shakes his head. Nikki doesn’t want Victor to know about his involvement at all. He says even if Victor knew about him, he wouldn’t let him near any division of Newman Enterprises.
Lauren asks why Jack thinks Victor would let her near the company.
Jack says Victor is fond of her; she wasn’t his “sworn enemy” for years. He thinks if she agrees to it, Victor wouldn’t object.
Lauren says Jack seems to have thought this through.
Jack says he’s being protective toward Nikki and Lauren.
Lauren says she’s blessed with an incredible management team at Fenmore’s who can handle the day-to-day… She could step in for a bit and still be available for the big things she’s needed for.
Jack asks if that’s a “yes.”
Lauren says she needs to know how Nikki feels about it first… Has Jack even asked her about Lauren stepping in? Will she know that Jack wants Lauren there to make sure she doesn’t take that first drink?
The Empty Glass Lounge
Nikki walks into a dimly-lit bar and takes a seat at a corner table. She keeps her sunglasses on and waves her hand, calling for a drink.
Newman Enterprises
Victor gets a call from his security team, informing him that Nikki’s at The Empty Glass Lounge. He knows where it is and tells the caller to stay there; he’s on his way. He grabs his coat and leaves.
A little bit later, Nick and Adam enter the office. They talk business for a minute, but Nick notices that Adam seems distracted lately. He asks what’s going on.
Adam says he’s had some personal things going on lately and doubts Nick would be interested since he said he wants to keep things between them strictly business.
Nick says he only said that to stop them from falling back into their old patterns.
Adam asks whether Nick wants to talk about the HR reorganization.
Nick shakes his head. He wants to talk about what’s bothering Adam. Adam’s personal problems seem to be affecting his work performance. He says things have been going great at the office, and he wants to make sure it stays that way.
Adam agrees, but says, “Don’t say I didn’t warn you!”

Memorial Hospital
Victoria and Cole drop by Claire’s room. She invites them in with a smile.
Claire puts down her notebook and says she’s been writing in her therapy journal. She explains that she writes her hopes, thoughts, and anxieties in the journal so she can process her trauma and create a sense of control. She says it’s nice to see them.
Victoria and Cole say it’s nice to see her too. Cole asks how things are going.
Claire says things are going better for her. She worked through some things in a group session this morning; usually she doesn’t have much to say in group, but she felt talkative for some reason.
Victoria tells her that’s wonderful; she finds it helpful to talk things through when she’s upset, too.
Claire sees that Victoria’s acting a bit odd. She asks what’s going on with them.
Victoria says Claire might need to sit down for this.
Claire nods and takes a seat.
Cole says there’s no way to ease into it, so they’ll just let her know what happened… There was a fire at South Coast Women’s Prison. Some of the inmates perished and still need to be identified, and there are a handful who are missing. He says most of the prison population survived, but Jordan wasn’t among the group who survived.
Claire asks what Cole means by “missing.”
Victoria says it’s possible the missing inmates may have escaped.
Cole says it’s only been a couple of days since the fire, and authorities are still investigating. He says it’s a shock, but there’s no confirmation of anything yet.
Victoria says they wanted Claire to hear it from them first.
Claire asks what the odds are that Jordan has escaped.
Cole says they should be prepared for anything.
Claire takes a deep breath. She says Jordan might have set the fire at the prison; she’d told Claire that, in an emergency, a fire could be the ultimate distraction.
Jabot Cosmetics
Jack tells Lauren that Nikki knows he’s looking for someone to be her COO but doesn’t know that he has Lauren in mind. He says Nikki would be thrilled if she had a friend whom she could truly trust to help her.
Lauren says it’d be a fresh challenge for her, and it’d be a temporary position. She smiles and says she’s in.
Jack thinks that’s great. He gets on the phone to set up a meeting with Nikki.
The Empty Glass Lounge
Victor walks into the bar. He approaches a bartender and asks if he’s seen a 5’6″ blonde with blue eyes who has been drinking.
The bartender smirks and says the people who drink there value their privacy.
Victor peels a few bills off a roll and hands them to the bartender. “Will this help?”
Nikki steps out and sees Victor and the bartender talking.
Society
Abby tells Tessa she’s going to be on the board at Chancellor-Winters, and will be kept busy there… Which means that she’ll need someone at Society as the day manager. Abby says Tessa already worked there and knows how the restaurant operates; would she be interested in the position?
Tessa says she hasn’t done a lot of management.
Abby says Tessa is a problem-solver and is good with people. She thinks she’d be perfect for the job!
Abby says she’s been feeling restless… The restaurant is a well-oiled machine that doesn’t need her there as much as it used to. She thought about opening another restaurant, but she got excited when Devon asked her about joining the board. She asks how soon Tessa can give her an answer.
Tessa grins and says she’ll let her know tomorrow. She’s excited about the idea, too!
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Adam and Nick are sitting at the bar, talking over glasses of beer. Adam tells Nick how Connor is having problems at school and is having problems focusing. He says it seems to be a “learning difference.”
Nick asks if it’s serious.
Adam nods. Serious enough.
Nick says he’s sorry to hear it. He asks what Adam thinks should be done.
Adam says he was angry with the teachers when he first found out; he was ready to go to the school and raise hell, but Sally and Chelsea calmed him down.
Nick grins and says Sally and Chelsea are good at calming a person down. He’s glad Adam listened to them… It shows a lot of growth!
Adam says putting his own feelings on hold for Connor is new to him.
Nick says he’s been in that situation a few times now. It’s not easy.
Adam thinks he overreacted because he went through similar things in his time and didn’t want Connor to feel ashamed of his feelings or who he is. He says Connor deserves to be at peace with himself.
Memorial Hospital
Cole asks Claire if Jordan has a history of arson.
Claire says she’s not sure… Jordan said a lot of disturbing things over the years. She wouldn’t put it past her, though.
Victoria says even if Jordan didn’t cause the fire so she could escape, she’ll never come near Claire again.
Cole says they’ll do whatever is necessary to keep Claire safe.
Claire says he’s said that before and she thought it was just words, but she’s starting to feel that they really care and want to protect her.
Victoria says Claire can trust her feelings… She and Cole care about Claire deeply.
Cole says it’s his job as her father to keep her safe, and he doesn’t want her to be afraid of anything again.
Claire says she’s not afraid of Jordan… She’s angry and filled with disgust when she thinks about her.
Victoria says that’s a good step in Claire’s healing progress.
Claire asks how Nikki is taking the news that Jordan might have escaped.
The Empty Glass Lounge
Nikki watches as the bartender counts the money that Victor gave him. She hides in the shadows and sends Jack a garbled text message that’s meant to say, “Call Victor. Lure him someplace to meet. ASAP. Please.”
Jabot Cosmetics
Lauren tells Jack she’ll be ready for Nikki as soon as she knows when Nikki wants to meet.
Jack thanks her. His phone pings with Nikki’s garbled message. He shows the message to Lauren.
Lauren says Nikki’s been drinking.
Jack nods. He figures Nikki’s “officially” drunk and is asking him to rescue her.
Lauren says it sounds more like Nikki wants Jack to enable her. She asks what Jack is going to do.
Jack says it appears Nikki has left him with no choice.
The GCAC Dining Room
Adam says it means a lot that Nick’s given Adam a second chance.
Nick says Adam’s been making an effort… They’re even.
Adam says it gave him a new perspective when he found himself powerless to fix a problem for his child.
Nick nods. He says every one of his kids put him through the wringer at one point… Scrapes with the law, underage drinking, and car wrecks… He’s seen it all, including shady companions and relationships that he knew would be a disaster from the start. He says his kids were all involved in situations where he knew they were going to get hurt, but Nick couldn’t do anything about it… As a parent, that’s tough to take! Children have to make mistakes; that’s the only way they can learn!
Adam nods. He says that Summer, Faith, and Noah went through it, but they’ve all turned out okay!
Nick says it’s pretty incredible.
Adam thinks Summer, Faith, and Noah’s dad really helped.
Nick grins and says he can’t take credit for most of it.
Adam says Nick’s the common denominator… He must have done something right!
Nick laughs and says that might be the most sincere compliment Adam has ever given him.
Adam says he’s about to give him another one… He’s really scared for Connor and could use some brotherly wisdom.
Memorial Hospital
Victoria tells Claire that Nikki read about the fire online and was very upset by the news.
Claire says Jordan had always planned to target Nikki to make Victor suffer. She asks if Nikki has been able to fight the effects of the alcohol that Jordan pumped into her.
Victoria says it’s been rough. Nikki’s tough and has been going to her AA meetings and trying to get her old life back.
Claire says that’s good. She’s had nightmares about Nikki getting into an accident because she was driving drunk. She says what Jordan put Nikki through makes her angry and sad.
Cole says it’s the first time he’s heard Claire put all the blame on Jordan. She didn’t blame herself this time; he thinks this is a good step in the right direction.
Society
Tessa and Abby finish their conversation. Tessa says she’ll let Abby know her decision tomorrow.
Abby grins and says she’ll keep her fingers crossed. She gives Tessa a hug, and Tessa leaves the restaurant, passing Devon on the way in.
Devon asks Abby how it went.
Abby says Tessa is interested in the position, and if she accepts, Abby is one step closer to joining forces with Devon at Chancellor-Winters!
Devon is happy that Abby wants to join the team, even though Nate thinks that Tucker has lost interest in a takeover.
Abby says she wouldn’t take Nate’s word for it; they still need to be cautious!
Devon agrees.
Abby says she isn’t joining the board only because of Tucker’s looming threat. She wants to show Devon what she’s capable of in a corporate setting and wants to have a say in Dominic’s legacy.
Devon says he’s all for it.
Abby says her top priority is to be more connected with Devon and his world.
Devon loves the sound of that. They kiss.
The GCAC Dining Room
Nick tells Adam he knows how hard it must have been for Adam to open up and ask for his “brotherly wisdom.” He says that his only advice is to stay the course and keep doing what he’s doing. Adam needs to be cool, be calm, and trust the professionals at the school. He says that Adam should do his own research about Connor’s issues and get a second opinion. He suggests that Adam talk with Sharon, since Connor likes her and trusts her, and she’s helped him before.
Adam thinks that’s a great idea.
Nick says if he does all that and still finds a problem with the faculty or the school, then he can raise hell! If Adam needs a hand with that, Nick will be there for him, too.
Adam grins and says that’s some great advice; he’ll give it a whirl!
Memorial Hospital
Claire tells Cole and Victoria that she’s been working hard with her therapist to understand her relationship with Jordan. Her therapeutic goal is to let go of her guilt and accept that she was manipulated for years by a mentally ill adult who had control over her mind. She says the doctors told her that she’s doing well and that it will take time to undo the damage that Jordan did.
Cole smiles and says he has complete faith that Claire will “get there.”
Victoria says their daughter is starting to heal on “all fronts.”
The Empty Glass Lounge
The bartender tells Victor that the woman he described (Nikki) was there, but he doesn’t remember what she was drinking. He throws his towel over his shoulder and heads to the kitchen.
Victor’s phone rings. He answers; it’s Jack calling.
Jack tells him that he needs to meet… It’s urgent.
Victor says he has no time.
Jack says it’s about Nikki.
Victor tells Jack to meet him at Newman Towers in fifteen minutes. He hangs up the phone and leaves.
Nikki watches from the shadows as Victor leaves. She breathes a sigh of relief.
