Summer and Kyle’s marriage imploded, and pointing fingers is easy, but who really was responsible for their breakdown? Some could say it was ultimately Jeremy Stark who was responsible.
Maybe it was Phyllis herself, bringing Stark and the associated danger to Genoa City. Perhaps Diane’s return was the catalyst… Or does it go back further?
Genoa City is still under the fallout from Phyllis faking her death. Kyle and Summer’s marriage has imploded, Kyle has turned to another woman, and it isn’t clear that Summer is truly remorseful for what she’s done.
The Deception
Summer didn’t just deceive Kyle about Phyllis being alive when everyone thought she was dead; her knowledge could have freed Kyle’s mother, Diane, from prison.
It was a juicy storyline, filled with drama, but is that forgivable? Kyle forgave Diane for faking her death, but that took some time, and it’s a different relationship dynamic.
Kyle could forgive Summer, but either he’s not ready to or doesn’t want to.
The Hookup and The Job Offer
Summer keeping her mother’s secret was only a part of the issue. Summer stopped being intimate with Kyle, moved out of their bedroom, and took off on fake errands every chance she got, which in the end, made it that much worse for Kyle.
Kyle had already met Audra Charles at the gala and liked what he saw. After he separated from Summer, Kyle and Audra hooked up a few times, and he took her up on her job offer… To run Newman Media with her.
If Jack hadn’t forced Kyle out of his job at Marchetti, Kyle would never have needed to take the position at Newman Media.
Jack told Kyle he could have a different job at Jabot, but Kyle was (rightly?) offended that his father was taking Summer’s “side” on this… Even though Summer was the driving force behind Marchetti and had brought it to success.
Jack was right in that it was a business decision, but from Kyle’s point of view, you don’t go easily from being the CEO of an international company to being demoted.
It’s understandable why he accepted the job with Audra. He needed work; it sounds like a perfect opportunity, and screw those losers at Jabot anyway, am I right?!
Kyle is now taking charge of his career; he’s no longer tied to Daddy’s apron strings.
Summer’s Discovery
I would have preferred if Kyle and Audra’s (Kaudra’s?) fling would have lasted much longer than three days before Summer learned the truth… It would have made the stakes higher and the aftermath more painful.
When Summer moved into the GCAC, the writers could have easily had her and Audra on the same floor, and after Summer hears a couple going at it loudly in the next room, she could have banged on the door and caught a shirtless Kyle with Audra… But we can’t have nice things, can we?
Summer figured it out all on her own, smelling perfume on Kyle and then realizing later that she smelled the same scent on Audra… A very old-school way of learning about his cheating ways.

The True Victim
Putting aside the juicy mess, sweet little Harrison may forever be scarred by his parents’ issues.
It’s bad enough that his biological mother is Tara… And now this?
Kyle says he’s protecting Harrison from Summer by asking her to move out of the Abbott Mansion, but is he really, or is he just so frustrated and angry at Summer that he doesn’t want her around? I have to wonder if he’ll change his mind at some point, but I don’t see it right now.
Afterthoughts
What do I think about this whole affair? Well…
Kyle seems to have his mind made up about Summer, and I’m OK with that. From his side, he’s had to suffer months of Summer’s ludicrous behavior, and his feelings of betrayal that he got from her have driven him over the edge.
I can’t really say as I blame him!
On the other hand, Summer was also put into an untenable position where she had to deal with her mother’s death, which she thought was completely real… Poor Summer, I really felt for her!
A parent’s death is completely heartbreaking, and it can be hard to pull yourself out of the pit of grief that Summer found herself in.
Jeremy Stark was a threatening figure looming over their lives, and when he died and her mother returned from the dead, Summer had to make a choice.
Summer was in disbelief about her mother’s return, and Phyllis asked her to keep a secret that she should have never been asked to keep.
Unfortunately, I think the way Summer went about keeping that secret was the beginning of the end of her marriage to Kyle. In my eyes, even if Summer kept that secret but made up more convincing lies, it would have been better, but she really did choose to shut Kyle out of her life.
The way Summer would suddenly leave Kyle with no real excuse was just lame. She should have made up something like, “I just want to take a walk and think. I’m having a hard time with my mother’s death, and I’d like to be alone now. I love you, and I’ll be back later.”
Now, Summer has to face the fact that she shut Kyle out and has to deal with the aftermath of her decisions.
I think Kyle should continue to see where things go with Audra for now, though I’m sure it will cause a lot of drama, as he’s “defecting” to the enemy camp.
I still feel for Harrison and think he should be sheltered from their breakup a bit, but he does have his dee-dee to help him through it… Though with Tucker and Ashley (and Phyllis!) doing their best to make Diane snap, who knows how long the peace will last!
We’ll see… It’s sure to be filled with drama and excitement, though!

I hope Summer doesn’t forgive him for him sleeping with Audra, I hope her company skyrockets with Chelsea working g for her and I hope Audra dumps him for Nate leaving Kyle without either Summer or Audra. As for Harison, he will probably be as visible as Christian, I’m never sure where that little boy is.. If not I hope Harrison chooses to live with Summer. I just don’t get how Diane gets a free pass for leaving Kyle to believe she was dead almost his entire life, but he can’t forgive summer.. I’d say I’m team summer.. 😆

Writers change theirs scripts all the time. I feel that the role of Audra is sickening. She’s a total distraction to this show and when Victor finds out what she is doing to Summer. His Granddaughter I pray he fires her since he is calling the shots now.
As for Kyle and Summer. I’d like to see them forgive each other and reunite. Maybe Summer will see how important it is for Kyle to have his mom back in his life and Kyle will better understand why Summer did the unthinkable crime to hold on to her mom. She was caught berween a rock and a hard place. Forgiveness is POSITIVE!! Hopefully , Jack and Kyle can come back together, work together Jack, Diane. Kyle and Summer can be a happy family. It would be a very smart move for the writers.
As for Phyllis, she needs to STOP allowing these crooked men to use , blackmail and force her to destroy her family’s trust and love. Kyle should go home too Summer before something else happens and he wants be able to get back together with Summer. It would be nice for once if the good guy learned a lesson abo ut cheating (Kyle with Tara) and do the right thing ( stay loyal and trustworthy) in a relationship even if that relationship turned into a divorce later. But no, a soap opera has to go to the dark side every time. I dont like Kyle anymore. I thought he grew up and see now that once a cheater always a cheater so Summer is better off without him. Audra is the true vixen that she is portrayed to be but the good thing is vixens always get what they deserve. Can’t wait for her to feel some pain like she causes everyone else. I agree. Im tired of the musical beds, evil tyrant, and competing company themes. How about some REAL life problems? Theres a few on the edges of the show (lesbian marriage, mental health, child reading issues). But nothing that really covers any depth or reality of social situations.
I keep thinking they dont want to deal with all the sets, wardrobe, and extras…so we are getting the low budget, trying to seem high budget version.
Everyone seems to forget that Kyle lied to Summer, then made her keep the secret that Jack and Diane stole Niki’s necklace. But, no one is saying anything about putting them in jail. So sick of this whole storyline.

Kyle should have stayed with Jabot, maybe in a lesser position until he could move up in his family’s company. Victor will eventually take care of the Audra/Nate situation, hopefully not too late. Now, about Diane…I can’t wait until her true colors are revealed, again, hopefully not too late.

Well as the old saying goes “two wrongs don’t make a right” Summer was wrong to keep secrets. Kyle was wrong for sleeping with Audra, he’s still legally married to Summer. He wanted to separate, and lo and behold here comes Audra sniffing around he instantly hits the sheets with her more than once. Phyllis put her daughter in this situation. This is what should happen. Summer and Kyle are of no great importance now. It is hard for Kyle to bury his hurt and deception from Summer. I don’t think that marriage should be fixed. The worry now is Diane, Kyle’s mother, who may have had a sordid past, but is doing nothing now. She needs help in her fight against Phylis, Ashley, Tucker and Co. Who better than a younger recast of Tara. With the conniving ways as Audra, and the sexiness as well. Harrison is my concern. He now has no mother, and he loves hIs DD. Bring Tara back, and back in the Lives of the Abbotts. Have Taea and Diane click. Have Jack change his attitude towards Tara. Have Kyle see her in a different light. Bring Kyle and Tara together co-parenting Harrison in the home. There you have your team to save Jabott from Destruction to destroy Jabott, and blame it on Diane. Phylis thinks she is the Queen of Manipulation, but have her be no match fir Tara. Understand, the true family is Tara, Kyle, Jack,Diane and Harrison. Great twist. Great Storyline.

The state of their marriage is on both Kyle and Summer. The real victim is Harrison but Kyle and Summer could find their way back to each other with therapy but both are spoiled and neither one had good role models for what a marriage should be because everyone is falling and and out of the others bed too easily. Yes I know this is a soap but give me a break, they are supposed to be acting real life but I seriously doubt people can get married, divorced and remarried in less than a year.
But, while this Summer is definitely not Hunter King, she is a great actress and has done well in the part. She just needs to kick Kyle to the curb because obviously he did not have enough invested in the marriage to stop him from jumping into bed with another woman. Summer may have lied but so did Kyle and Summer forgave him and never cheated.

For all yall don’t know Chance is with Shanron and don’t try to involve Summer Newman with Chance because Shanron and Chance have some spicy new if y’all want a Summer relationship I think they should add Liam from the bold and the beautiful and summer and Liam can start a fresh new relationship.
They both have been deceitful. Kyle did whatever he could to protect his mother include lie to Summer about going to Victor for that company in exchange for information on Adam after Summer told him not to. They started le Nikki necklace and wanted her to lie to her grandmother. At the end of the day she protected her mother like he did. They are not perfect. The marriage was full of lies. Kyle idea of betrayal led him to Audra’s bed. So must have wanted her while he was supposed to be in love with his wife. I don’t blame Audra. She is not the one committed to someone else. If not her than someone else. Summer should move on with someone else and leave Kyle for he will be without a job when Adam and Nick and Sharon merge their company. Like Adam said Audra was expendable and so is Kyle since he isn’t family with Newman if he isn’t with Summer.

Could have been an exciting plot to protect both their mothers. I loved Audra’s response to Summer about sleeping with Kyle. She didn’t break them up. Kyle is dancing with a spider and he will be stalked just like Noah. Audra is so cool until things don’t go her way. She spices up the show. Would love to see Summer excel in her job and start dressing like she runs a fashion business like Loren. I think she needs fashion polish. Actresses sitting in their livingroom dress better and do something with her hair. Then she could attract someone over the top possibly in the fashion industry and make Kyle regret dumping her. When Summer’s character came back from overseas she was stunning. Kyle and Summers relationship was so judgmental of others acting like they knew better than anyone else . They never had that spark for me.

I agree. Im tired of the musical beds, evil tyrant, and competing company themes. How about some REAL life problems? Theres a few on the edges of the show (lesbian marriage, mental health, child issues). But nothing that really covers any depth or reality of social situations.
I keep thinking they dont want to deal with all the sets, wardrobe, and extras…so we are getting the low budget, trying to seem high budget version.

Summer hid a presumed dead criminal from her husband – mother or not. Cost her her marriage. But no excuse for Kyle to turn to Audra – a snake that has been with three men in a year since hitting a new town. Summer grow up. Phyllis take responsibility. Kyle get a life. Audra will tell Kyle she is pregnant just to trap him in the end to marry her. Just like she was planning to do Noah but he took out and left her before she had a chance, and she didn’t know where he was. She will blackmail Kyle before it’s over with watch her. The one thing that Summer did wrong was when Kyle was trying to support her because he thought her mother was dead. She moved to the other bed room, If she loved him she should have never done that because he was good to her. I can see it if he was mean to her, but he wasn’t. That is why I believe he turned to Audra so easy because Summer showed no affection to him at all for a long time before he found out about Phyllis being alive.
