Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Phyllis threatened to reveal Tucker’s secret as Jack and Billy worked to foil Jabot’s takeover.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Nate and Mamie sit and talk over drinks. Nate tells Mamie that her return to town is a cause for celebration.
Mamie smiles and asks what’s happening at Newman. She heard there was a shakeup and some shuffling amongst the family.
Nate says Victor is back at the helm. He wonders where she heard about the shufflings.
Mamie says she does her research and keeps her ear to the ground. She asks why Nate would want to be a part of the chaos at Newman.
Nate says he was hoping to have a drink without her trying to get him to come back to Chancellor-Winters. He says Lily and Devon don’t want him anywhere near the company and he’s happy where he is.
Mamie thought he had made up with Lily and Devon.
Nate says he’s gotten a bit closer, but he’s given up hope they’ll ever fully trust him. He says he doesn’t want to be where his presence is questioned.
Mamie asks what she can do to change his mind.
Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Phyllis asks Tucker why he doesn’t have any snarky remarks to make.
Tucker asks what she’d like him to say.
Phyllis laughs. “Phyllis, you’re a genius! You got me! I surrender!”
Tucker says she’s entertaining.
Phyllis says she just uncovered his connection to Mamie Johnson. All Tucker has to say is that she’s entertaining?
Tucker says whatever connection he has to Mamie is personal and private. It’s none of Phyllis’s business.
Phyllis says it is. Consider her the fly in his ointment.
Tucker says she’s making stuff up out of nothing.
Phyllis doesn’t think Jill, Devon, or Lily will think it’s nothing. They’ll wonder what he’s up to.
Tucker asks what Phyllis wants.
Phyllis wants to know what Tucker is up to… Did he connect with Mamie so he could take over his son’s company?
The Abbott Mansion
Jack asks Kyle if everything’s okay. He seems a little off.
Kyle says he’s fine. What’s going on with Billy and Jack?
Jack says they discussed how best to handle Tucker’s “latest stunt.” He explains that Tucker planted a bug in the bonsai tree.
Kyle says he suggested they destroy Tucker’s gift, but Jack wanted to use it against Tucker.
Billy says they have another tool they’re considering using.
Jack explains that they have some damaging information on Tucker.
Kyle asks if Tucker knows they have the information.
Jack says he does. When they told him about it, he planted a listening device.
Kyle wonders how damaging the information could be… What’s the next step?
Billy says they will release the information, expose Tucker, and remove his power.
Kyle worries they could make Tucker more vengeful and ignite a war if they release the information.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Nate asks Mamie why she thinks it’s important for him to return to work with Lily and Devon.
Mamie says now that she has a role at Chancellor-Winters, she wants to smooth over any conflicts and bring the family back together.
Nate says Mamie purchased a tiny stake in the company; she doesn’t have any significant power.
Mamie tells him not to second-guess what she can accomplish.
Nate thinks there’s more to it.
Mamie says she only wants to bring Nate, Lily, and Devon back together. It’s tragic that they’ve drifted apart.
Nate says there’s a reason for it. Much of the blame is on him; he takes full responsibility for what he did to them.
Mamie asks about his relationship with Victoria at Newman Enterprises.
Nate explains that he and Victoria have something special and they’re aligned in their thinking and priorities. He made some wrong moves with his cousins but felt stifled trying to work with them. He had to make a move to achieve his true potential.
Mamie wonders if Nate expected too much too soon.
The Abbott Mansion
Kyle asks his father whether he considers Tucker to be a threat against them.
Billy says Tucker is hurt, angry, and has the time and money to cause real damage to the family and the company.
Jack says when Tucker sold McCall Unlimited to Newman Enterprises, he covered his debts and had enough left over.
Billy says Tucker loves to amuse himself. Putting a listening device in a bonsai tree? Lame.
Jack figures Tucker thinks that if the Abbotts are busy putting out fires, they won’t notice what he’s up to.
Kyle says he sees the predicament.
Jack says they have to stick together as a family to get through it.
Kyle says they have Tucker to thank for one thing… Jack and Billy have moved on from their conflict and are working as a team again.
Billy says they’ve found common ground, and they’re protecting their family and the family legacy.
Jack tells Billy he’s glad to have him at his side.
Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Tucker asks Phyllis why she thinks he’d try to make a move against Chancellor-Winters… Why would he do that to his son?
Phyllis says, “Why indeed?”
Tucker sighs and asks what Phyllis thinks she knows.
Phyllis says she did a deep dive into his online activities.
Tucker says she did that to bring some information to Jack. She’s desperate for his approval. She toyed with him for years and then was rejected.
Phyllis says Tucker recently transferred money into LBB… Mamie Johnson’s company, and she just made a sizable investment into Chancellor-Winters, with Tucker as a benefactor.
Tucker smiles.
Phyllis says Tucker is going after his son’s company and is using Mamie to do it.
Tucker gives Phyllis a thumbs-up and tells her she nailed it.
Phyllis says Tucker can’t prove her wrong.
Tucker says Phyllis needs something to brighten her day after the mess she’s made of her life.
Phyllis says Tucker isn’t denying anything she’s said.
Tucker says he’s been making investments in financial groups through the years.
Phyllis figures there’s more to it than that. The timing and people involved are… Interesting.
Tucker tells Phyllis to find a hobby.
Phyllis says she’ll talk to Devon instead. She’s sure Devon would find it odd that Tucker wants to play an underhanded role in Chancellor-Winters.
Tucker says she still hasn’t answered his question. She doesn’t give a damn about Devon, Lily, or Chancellor-Winters. What is she after?
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Nate tells Mamie he’s gone through personal and professional transitions through the years and is finally where he belongs. He’s happy at Newman, where he’s valued and respected.
Mamie says he’ll never be family at Newman. He’ll always be an outsider.
Nate says his opinion matters there. Victor knows what Nate brings to the company.
Mamie says even if Nate married Victoria, he’d only be the “in-law” to anyone there. He’d never have true power at Newman Enterprises.
Nate says he knows someone else is involved with Mamie’s investment at Chancellor-Winters. Mamie keeps talking like Jill isn’t part of the dynamic at CW, but she is the dynamic.
Mamie laughs and says things change.
The Abbott Mansion
Billy says they must move quickly to get the information on Tucker out. They should do it first thing in the morning.
Jack says he wants to think about it overnight, and they’ll discuss it first thing in the morning.
Billy agrees and leaves the house.
Jack asks Kyle if he can count on his support.
Kyle shrugs and tells his dad, “Whatever you need.”
Jack says they can talk about the perfect spot for Kyle at Jabot once they’ve finished with Tucker.
Kyle says only one spot at Jabot interests him, and Jack’s made it clear that’s not an option.
Jack says Kyle wants to be co-CEO, but they should work together to find an alternative.
Kyle stops Jack and says it won’t happen and they should stop pretending it can.
Diane and Traci come home. Diane smiles and says she’s happy to see her two favorite men there.
Kyle says hello. He doesn’t look pleased. He excuses himself and leaves the room.
Traci says that Kyle was “frosty.”
Diane asks Jack what happened.
Jack says Kyle thinks he’s slighting him.
Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Phyllis tells Tucker that she only wants him to leave her alone.
Tucker says if Phyllis kicks a hornet’s nest… She gets stung.
Phyllis says she’s the hornet now. Tucker pissed her off, and it’s his turn to get stung.
Tucker laughs, and there’s a knock at the door.
Phyllis throws open the door. It’s Audra.
Crimson Lights
Kyle brings a coffee out to the patio. He thinks back to his conversation with Audra when she asked him to form an alliance with her and Tucker. She said they’d run Jabot the way it should be run. All he had to do was betray his parents.
Diane walks into the coffee shop and tells Kyle not to be mad at her for following him. They need to talk. Jack is worried about him.
Kyle says Jack will get over it.
Diane says Kyle is confused and frustrated about his position at Jabot.
Kyle says he’s not. He knows what he wants and knows he won’t get it. His dad isn’t going to replace Billy with him.
Diane tells him to give it some time.
Kyle says Jack and Billy are on the same page, and they need their connection with each other. He’s not upset; he sees things clearly.
Diane tells Kyle that Jack loves him and values his opinion.
Kyle says he knows that but understands that his dad needs Billy by his side, and they deserve to work together. He says they want it to work, and Kyle thinks it can, too. It’d be selfish for him to take that away from them.
Diane says Kyle is being generous. She wonders what it means for his future.
Kyle says he recently got an interesting offer, but he’s unsure it’s the right move.
Diane asks if it would be better than an executive position at Jabot.
Kyle nods.
Diane says she’d hate to see him choose something like that over working with his family.
Kyle asks if she’s trying to talk him out of it.
Diane says Kyle needs to follow the path that works for him… As long as that path doesn’t lead him back to Audra.
Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Phyllis asks Audra what she’s doing there.
Audra says she’s clearly interrupting Phyllis and Tucker.
Phyllis wonders what business Audra could have with Tucker so late at night.
Audra says it’s none of her business. She pushes to go by Phyllis but is blocked.
Phyllis says she knows Audra; she’s seen versions of her come and go from the town for years.
Audra asks Phyllis who she thinks she is.
Phyllis says Audra is a predator. She uses people, and it’s no shock that she and Tucker are close.
Audra walks in and says she’s sensing some hostility.
Phyllis says she’s hostile because Audra is the woman who ruined her daughter’s marriage.
Audra says Kyle was already done with Summer when they got together. Summer lied to Kyle repeatedly to protect Phyllis.
Phyllis tells Audra to watch who she pisses off in town… People have really long memories in Genoa City.
Tucker says it’s getting late. He holds the door open for Phyllis and asks her to leave.
Phyllis asks Tucker if they have an understanding.
Tucker says they do… For the time being.
Phyllis nods. She takes her purse and leaves.
Audra says Phyllis is a real treat. What kind of understanding do they have? What did Tucker do to make Phyllis so feisty?
Tucker asks why everyone’s up in his business tonight.
Audra says she’s unhappy that he has an ongoing connection to Phyllis.
Tucker snidely remarks that Audra wouldn’t be trying to tell him who he should and shouldn’t be associating with, would she?
Audra says Phyllis loves to cause trouble, and if she does it to Tucker, it could also affect Audra. Phyllis could be a threat to their future plans.
Tucker asks if Audra has changed her mind. Are they a team again?
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Nate tells Mamie he doesn’t think he was too ambitious at Chancellor-Winters, but that’s how Devon saw it.
Mamie figures that’s how the friction happened between them.
Nate says he had big ideas. He wanted to take the company as far as possible, but Devon wanted to play it safe, and Lily was caught between them. The company also belonged to Jill.
Mamie says Jill is the outlier. She co-owns an entity that is run successfully by the Winters; everything is run by Lily and Devon.
Nate says Lily and Devon work closely with Jill. She’s a deciding vote.
Mamie thinks it’d be great to get Devon and Lily to bring Nate back into the mix. They’d be a powerhouse.
Nate laughs and says he doesn’t see it happening.
Mamie says Nate shouldn’t underestimate her ability to persuade people. When she makes it happen, is Nate in?
The Abbott Mansion
Traci asks Jack if he’s okay. Things were tense between him and Kyle when she came home with Diane. She asks if they were arguing about something.
Jack says Kyle is still upset about how things went when he separated from Summer, and Jack told him to step down from Marchetti.
Traci says that must have been difficult for Kyle. He was going through a breakup and wanted Jack’s support.
Jack says Kyle has his support, but he feels Kyle is making bad decisions.
Traci wonders if Kyle is lashing out at the world.
Jack says he wants what’s best for his son, but he can’t give him what he wants.
Traci asks what Kyle wants.
Jack says Kyle wants his old job as co-CEO at Jabot.
Traci understands what a tough spot Jack is in.
Jack says he can’t undercut Billy when he’s making strides at Jabot. He understands it’s hard on Kyle; nobody would want to accept a demotion in the family company.
Traci says it might not be the role that Kyle’s worried about… It’s more about how his father views him. She asks what Jack thinks Kyle deserves.
Crimson Lights
Kyle tells his mom to stop harping on him about his relationship with Audra.
Diane doesn’t think Audra is a good influence on Kyle.
Kyle says things are over between him and Audra, and he’s an adult who makes his own decisions, and Diane needs to find a way to trust him.
Diane says she trusts him. She doesn’t know why he’d want to be associated with “someone like that.”
Kyle says he can hang out with whomever he wants, and he likes hanging out with Audra.
Diane says Audra distracted him from the pain and anger he was feeling toward Summer.
Kyle says Audra is smart, fun, and knows what she wants.
Diane says that’s what she is on the surface, but that’s not the whole story.
Kyle asks what else there is. She used to team up with Tucker, but so did Diane. He figures he could learn something from Audra.
Diane asks what that’s supposed to mean.
Kyle tells her to forget it and leaves the cafe.
Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Audra tells Tucker she’s interested in pursuing Jabot and will do whatever she can to help.
Tucker asks what changed her mind.
Audra says working at Newman Media isn’t a solid long-term bet. Nikki still doesn’t trust her, and she doesn’t think she ever will. Nikki hired a new assistant, who is straight out of All About Eve. Claire is perfect, intelligent, charming, and confident. It’s almost creepy.
Tucker says Claire sounds delightful.
Audra says Claire is a “climber.”
Tucker says Audra is a climber, too.
Audra laughs and says at least she’s transparent about it.
Tucker thinks Audra is jealous that someone else is vying for Nikki’s respect.
Audra says she’s not interested in a power struggle over Nikki’s favor.
Tucker says if Audra says they’re a team again, he’ll love her forever.
Audra says she’s in. She wants to be where she can have control.
Tucker says she’ll have to pull her weight to make it work. Now that she’s “lured Kyle into her web”, has she been able to extract any information?
Audra says she has something better. She’s this close to pulling him away from his family.
Tucker asks if she’s talking about a betrayal. He tells her not to get ahead of herself… That’s a big step for “little Kyle.”
Audra says she made a strong case and an offer… The top spot at Jabot alongside Audra.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Nate asks if Mamie’s moving against Jill to get her out of Chancellor-Winters.
Mamie gives Nate a reproachful look. “Nate, please.”
Nate says Mamie said Jill isn’t a necessary part of Chancellor-Winters.
Mamie says he’s exaggerating. Jill will lose interest, especially if Chancellor-Winters is soaring.
Nate says Jill will fight to hang onto the company.
Mamie says she knows Jill better than anyone. Jill likes to spend her money and enjoys traveling.
Nate says Jill has been traveling while successfully running the company.
Mamie says Jill hasn’t been married for a while; maybe she needs to find a new man. She’s had more than her time in the sun, and she knows it.
Nate says there’s more to this than Mamie is telling him.
Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Tucker tells Audra she might have overplayed her hand. It’s one thing to reconnect with Kyle for information, but it’s another to expect him to betray his family.
Audra says Kyle is upset with how his father has been treating him. Kyle feels pushed aside and slighted.
Tucker says a little angst won’t change someone so straight and narrow.
Audra says Tucker’s forgetting that Kyle is ambitious. Kyle is primed for a reset. It’s only a matter of time.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Mamie asks Nate if he’s accusing her of something.
Nate says he is… Something’s not adding up.
Mamie says Nate is just stalling and avoiding her question. She wants to know if Nate will consider her offer to come back to his family’s company.
Nate says he will think about it.
Mamie thanks him.
Nate says he’s not convinced Mamie can change Devon and Lily’s minds. They’ve made progress, but he thinks they’re as close as they will ever be.
Mamie says she’ll have to prove Nate wrong.
The Abbott Mansion
Jack tells Traci that he’s given Kyle more than he deserves when it comes to business. He shot to the top too quickly and didn’t spend the time he needed to climb to the top on his own.
Traci asks if Jack thinks Kyle needs to build his business skills and work his way up.
Jack says he’s been reflecting on Kyle’s behavior and his past performance, and Kyle is arrogant and has a sense of entitlement.
Traci asks if it’s that extreme.
Jack says Kyle teamed up with Victor. That’s a perfect example.
Traci wonders if Kyle has shown any remorse or regret.
Jack says Kyle hasn’t been earnestly searching for what went wrong.
Kyle walks into the room unseen. He stops and listens.
Traci says they have to go back to her original question… What does Kyle really deserve? Where is his place at Jabot?
Jack says he thinks Kyle needs to step back and start from the ground up even if he’s not happy about it. It’s time for Kyle to work his way up at Jabot and pay his dues.
Kyle silently leaves the house. He sends Audra a text message on the porch. “Let’s talk.”
Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Audra’s phone pings with Kyle’s message. She tells Tucker that she’s gotten through to Kyle.
Tucker looks at the message and says it could mean anything. He says Audra needs to proceed with caution; it feels like a trap.
Audra says Kyle wouldn’t set her up. Kyle doesn’t work like that, and she’s in control.
Tucker thinks Audra’s going in with a blind spot… Has she fallen for Kyle?
Audra blows it off.
Tucker says she’s fallen before, and it’d be a bad idea to do it again.
Audra says Tucker doesn’t need to worry about her.
Tucker doesn’t want their plans derailed because of “feelings.”
Audra laughs and says Ashley factors into this more than Tucker’s willing to admit.
Tucker says Audra’s wrong.
Audra says Ashley could come back and throw Tucker off his game.
Tucker says that’ll never happen.
The Genoa City Athletic Club
In the lobby, Mamie thanks Nate for having a drink with her.
Nate says she’s given him a lot to think about.
They hug goodbye, and Nate leaves the club.
Tucker comes down the stairs and says hello to “Ms. Johnson.” He asks how things are.
Mamie smiles and tells “Mr. McCall” she can’t complain.
Tucker says it’s good to hear. He wishes her a good night.
Mamie tells him to have a good night, too. She heads upstairs to her room.
