Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Audra & Phyllis faced off, Kyle changed teams, and Jack & Billy plotted to release damning information on Tucker.
Lily’s Penthouse Apartment
There’s a knock at the door. It’s Daniel, who greets Lily with a kiss.
Daniel asks if she’s busy. He has something very exciting to show her.
Lily says she’s free. They leave her apartment.
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Danny is sitting in the dining room, having just ordered breakfast.
Phyllis walks in and approaches his table. She asks if she can join him to “shoot her shot while she can.”
Danny laughs and says he’s not sure how to answer that one.
Phyllis sits down and says he should answer, “Sure Phyllis, I’d love you to join me!”
Daniel says he’s only letting her sit because she seems to be in a good mood.
Phyllis says she’s in an extraordinary mood. She says she scraped the last bits of a nasty connection off her shoe.
Danny wonders if he should ask who that might be.
Phyllis says he doesn’t need to know. She finally feels optimistic about her future, and hasn’t felt that way as long as she can remember.
Newman Media
Nick walks into the office and greets Victoria and Nikki. He thanks them both for meeting him.
Nikki says that Victoria mentioned he wanted to talk about Victor.
Victoria says she’s been dying to talk to him since he told her that she was right about their father.
Nick didn’t want to get into it in front of Nate, he doesn’t trust him.
Victoria tells him that Nate isn’t their enemy.
Nikki tells them both to forget about Nate. What’s happening?
Nick says he’s been awake all night because of this… He says their father is “fading”, and he thinks it’s happening faster than he imagined.
Society
Victor walks into the restaurant and greets Adam.
Adam smiles and says hello. He makes sure to mention that he’s not slacking off… He’s multitasking by eating and working on Nate’s emails.
Victor tells him to stop insulting his intelligence.
Adam says he’s not doing that at all.
Victor says he knows what Adam is up to.
Adam says he doesn’t understand. He’s trying to prove himself by working up from the bottom, did Victor forget about that?
Victor looks confused. Forget about what? How much of a victim Adam’s been? How life has treated him unfairly? He says that doesn’t give Adam a right to treat others badly.
Adam says he’s trying to fix it.
Victor asks if he’s trying to fix it by betraying the people who want to help him.
Adam asks where this is coming from.
Victor says he’s tried to explain Adam’s actions to his siblings and Nikki. No more! He’s done with it!
Adam asks if Victor’s firing him.
Victor says he is. He’s done with him!
Adam, confused, asks what this is about… Did Nate say something to him?
Victor says Nate has nothing to do with it. Victor’s his boss, and Adam needs to stop hiding behind his “phony position.” He leaves Adam’s table and sits down at another, banging his hand on the table.
Adam sits there, trying to figure out what just happened.
Newman Media
Nick tells Victoria and Nikki how he had a conversation with Victor, and everything was normal, until Victor said that Victoria had taken over Newman Media.
Victoria and Nikki asks if Nick corrected Victor about it.
Nick says he did, and Victor tried to play it off like it was a slip of the tongue, until he remembered that Victoria had said that Victor was acting irrationally.
Victoria says this is the kind of thing she’s been talking about.
Nikki says she has lapses like that too… Everybody does.
Nick says Victor said something about Adam and Sally after that… That they were expecting a baby.
Nikki asks if he said anything about it.
Nick says he let Victor know, gently, that the baby had been lost during childbirth.
Victoria asks if Victor remembered after Nick told him.
Nick says Victor just seemed confused, changed the subject, and left.
Victoria says it’s worse than she thought.
Nick says Victor asked him to come back to Newman before he left. He said Victor’s words were, “We need you back where you belong.”
Nikki says that’s encouraging… At least Victor remembered that Nick wasn’t at Newman anymore.
Nick thinks there’s more to it. He wonders if it might have been a cry for help from Victor.
Daniel’s Apartment
Daniel and Lily walk into an empty apartment with boxes stacked around. Daniel asks what Lily thinks of it.
Lily says, “It’s an apartment in my building on a lower floor…?”
Daniel nods and says he knows the building owner… A Mr. Devon Winters, who let him know that someone was moving out and selling the place.
Lily asks if Daniel’s thinking of buying it.
Daniel says he is.
Lily wonders if it’s a little intrusive. How would she get away from him? Night after night, it’d just be… This. She smiles and kisses him.
Daniel asks if he can take that as a yes.
Lily says it definitely is. She loves the place for him, it’s perfect. Go for it!
Daniel says he already did. He signed the paperwork last night.
Lily congratulates him. She asks what would have happened if she didn’t like the idea.
The GCAC Dining Room
Danny tells Phyllis he needs to know about the nasty connection she just got rid of… She can’t expect to be able to say it and just drop it.
Phyllis tells Danny to deal with it. It’s the past, and she’s moving on from it. End of story.
Danny asks if she’s talking about another Jeremy Stark situation.
Phyllis says, “Jeremy who?” She’s forgotten about her past, Danny should too, and she’s moving on with her life. She tells Danny this is the time he can say that he’s proud of her.
Danny says he’d love to, but her enthusiasm seems over the top.
Phyllis says she’s not going to let his skepticism get to her. She’s done with the past. She just wants to seek the sun wherever she goes. She begs Danny to just say he’s happy for her.
Danny says he’s been saying no to her for too long… What else can he say but yes?
Phyllis says that’s a good choice.
Danny says her new, upbeat attitude is infectious.
The waiter comes over with Danny’s food.
Phyllis tells the waiter to please box up the food and get her an identical order, all of it to go.
Danny looks confused. He asks what Phyllis is up to.
Phyllis just smiles at him.
Daniel’s Apartment
Daniel tells Lily he should have spoken to her first about it, but he figured that if she hated the idea of him living in the building, he could come around and change her mind… He can be very persuasive.
They kiss.
Lily laughs and says he’s right… He can be persuasive! When is he moving in?
Daniel says the boxes will be gone tomorrow, but he’ll need a ton of help decorating.
Lily says he’s the artistic one… What does he need?
Daniel says interior design isn’t his forte. He has an idea what he wants, though. He jokes that he’s going to put the bed in the bedroom.
Lily laughs and says he doesn’t know what he wants, then.
Daniel agrees. He wants it to be cool and comfy.
Lily says Sally is launching her interior design company… Daniel could be one of her first clients.
Daniel thinks that’s a good idea.
Lily says she’s happy to help a neighbor.
Daniel says he’d like to take her on a very slow tour of the apartment, room-by-room.
Lily laughs and says she thought he’d never ask.
Newman Media
Victoria is shocked that Victor forgot that Adam and Sally lost the baby. It’s heartbreaking.
Nick says he was really shook up too.
Victoria asks if Nick can believe her now. Her concern wasn’t a made-up revenge plot for Victor demoting her.
Nick says he believes her. It’s given him a lot to think about.
Nikki asks what he’s thinking they should do.
Nick says he’s not going to leave them to face it alone, especially since they don’t know what it is.
Nikki says it could be natural memory loss. It’s not unusual in a person Victor’s age.
Victoria says it might be the beginning of something worse.
Nick says they need to get their dad some help. It’s killing him to even talk about it.
Victoria hugs Nick and says they’ll get through it together.
Society
Nate walks into the restaurant and sees Victor and Adam sitting at separate tables. He walks up to Victor and says hello.
Victor greets Nate and asks if he’s meeting someone or wants to join him.
Nate says he has a meeting with Victor’s son, and mentions that Adam is doing a good job.
Victor says that’s wonderful news. He wishes Nate a good day.
Nate sits with Adam and apologizes for being late… He’d been held up by a conference call.
Adam says it’s not a problem. He took advantage of the time to catch up on Nate’s emails.
Nate notices the look on Adam’s face and asks if everything is okay.
Adam says, “Yeah sure. Why?” He looks over at his father’s table.
Nate asks if Adam had some kind of run-in with his father before he got there.
Adam says they’ll discuss it later.
After their meal, Adam and Nate get up and approach Victor’s table.
Victor looks up and hopes they had a productive breakfast.
Nate says they did.
Victor says he’ll see them both at the office.
Nate leaves, and Adam stays at Victor’s table, looking at him with concern.
Victor asks Adam if there’s something he needs.
Adam tells him there’s nothing… He’ll see him at the office. He leaves the restaurant.
Victor takes a bite of his food and smiles.
Chancellor Park
Phyllis and Danny sit on a bench, and Phyllis takes the food they’d ordered out of a bag. She says the park is better than the boring Athletic Club, and she’s a “good time”.
Danny laughs and says she can be.
Phyllis says she’s been reckless, troubled, and moody.
Danny says that’s a mild version of who Phyllis was and what she did.
Phyllis says she should add competive and fierce to the list. That was then, though… Things have changed. She’s moved on, and she didn’t go to prison. She’s gainfully employed now!
Danny asks how things are going at OmegaSphere. Is she still worried about being under Daniel’s microscope?
Phyllis says it’s good. She’s earned Daniel’s mistrust, so she gets it. Things are working out, and she’s learned that she has to live in the present.
Danny laughs and says he’s not complaining, but where is this coming from? He’s confused!
Phyllis says it was because of the conversation they had the other day… He taught her that if she feels good, she will be good, thanks to him!
Daniel’s Apartment
Lily tells Daniel she loves the place and couldn’t be happier for him.
They kiss again.
Lily says they have to get back to work.
Daniel says they can come back later and have a proper housewarming party on the floor with champagne.
Lily says that’s a great idea. They should get going, though.
Daniel suggests that maybe something just came up, and they could be a little bit late to the office.
Lily laughs and says he’s bad.
Daniel says he always has been and always will be.
They kiss again.
Newman Enterprises
Nate tells Adam that Victor seemed in good spirits when he saw him at the restaurant.
Adam says it was scary… Victor was in a rampage, and then the next minute, it was like it had never even happened. He mentions that Victor had some memory lapses, as well.
Nate asks what Victor had forgotten.
Adam says Victor seemed to have forgotten how supportive he was of Adam turning his life around, that he’d forgotten that he was working for Nate, and in the middle of Victor’s meltdown, he fired Adam.
Nate can’t believe it.
Adam says Victor told him, “You’re out, and you’re going to stay out”, but when they were leaving, Victor said, “I’ll see you back at the office.”
Nate says it doesn’t sound like Victor.
Adam reminds him that Victor had called him “Nicholas” the other day.
Nate says Victoria was concerned that the stress of running Newman has been causing Victor’s erratic behavior.
Adam wonders if it’s more than that.
Nate says he’s not convinced it’s as extreme as Adam and Victoria think it is, but they have to keep an eye on Victor’s health and wellbeing.
Adam says they need to be protective of Newman Enterprises too.
Crimson Lights
Victoria and Nick sit on the indoor patio and talk over coffee. Victoria says she’s glad she’s not the only one who thinks that something needs to be done about their father.
Nick says he’s on board with getting to the bottom of it, but he won’t have any part in pushing their father out of Newman and getting Victoria her CEO job back.
Victoria says that’s the last thing on her mind. If their dad is in trouble, they can’t just sit back and let Nikki take care of him by herself.
Nick says he won’t let that happen. It’s unimaginable to think that the “invincible” Victor Newman is starting to slip away.
Victoria asks what else is bothering Nick… Is it Christian?
Nick shakes his head. Christian’s fine. He says that he’s broken things off with Sally.
Victoria asks what happened.
Nick isn’t ready to talk about it. They need to focus on their father, and need to have a serious talk with him.
Victoria says they need to come up with a cover story.
Nick says they need to be up front with their dad. If they aren’t open and honest with him, Victor will push back harder than he normally does.
Victoria says she doesn’t know how Victor will handle being confronted about it.
Nick says there’s never going to be a good time to tell “the great Victor Newman” that he’s losing his mind.
Society
Nikki sits down with Victor at his table.
Victor tells his wife she looks upset. What’s up?
Nikki says she had a meeting with Nick and Victoria about him this morning. She says Nick is shaken up about their meeting yesterday. She says Nick is convinced that Victor is confused and thought Victoria had taken over Newman Media, and that Victor had forgotten that Sally and Adam had lost their baby.
Victor asks why Nick would say that.
Nikki says Victoria and Nick think that Victor is confused.
Victor says he’s not confused. Really. Did Nick say anything about coming back to Newman?
Nikki says he didn’t, but she thinks they can’t rule it out. She says that Victoria and Nick are frightened for Victor, and so is she.
Victor says he adores her and there’s nothing to worry about.
Nikki asks if this is all part of a plan to find out who might betray him. If it is, it’s too cruel.
Victor says all he wants to find out is who is the traitor amongst his children.
Nikki says Adam will be the traitor.
Victor says he’ll either find out what he always thought about Adam, or they reconfirm that Adam is always out for himself and will do anything to get what he wants.
Nikki asks how Victor is going to do that.
Victor says Nikki needs to leave that up to him.
Chancellor Park
Danny tells Phyllis a story about an audience member that came up on stage, took one of the guitars, and launched into an amazing solo. He had to stop security from removing the fan from the stage so that they could finish the song.
Phyllis laughs. She asks what happened after.
Danny says afterward, they took him backstage, signed the guitar, and let him leave with it.
Phyllis says Danny made his night.
Danny laughs and says the fan made his night! The fan had mentioned that his mother had all of Danny’s albums, and that’s what inspired him to start playing guitar.
Daniel and Lily wander into the park and stop, listening to Danny and Phyllis talk.
Phyllis says that’s an inspiring story… Very beautiful!
Daniel approaches his mom and asks if somebody has a job at OmegaSphere that they’d hate to be late for.
Phyllis laughs and says she doesn’t clock in for another twenty minutes, but she won’t be late.
Danny says it looks like two other people who work at Chancellor-Winters have taken the morning off.
Daniel says he has a valid excuse. He was showing Lily his new apartment. He’s finally moving out of the hotel!
Phyllis and Danny congratulate him.
Daniel tells his father that there’s a guest room with his name on it for when he’s in town.
Danny asks if that includes extended stays.
Daniel laughs and says only if Danny plays his cards right… Why?
Danny says he was thinking about hanging around Genoa City longer than he had originally expected.
Newman Enterprises
Adam is waiting for the elevator when it dings and Victor and Nikki step out. Adam says hello.
Victor says hello and heads into his office.
Adam asks Nikki if she has a minute to talk.
Nikki looks at him reluctantly and asks what he wants.
Adam says he’ll make it quick. He’s concerned about Victor and wondered if Nikki has noticed anything off about him lately.
Nikki says even if she had, what makes him think she would discuss it with him?
Adam says one of the few things they have in common is that they both care about Victor.
Nikki tells him to stop. He doesn’t care about Victor, he only cares what Victor can do for him. She warns him that if he tries to undermine Victor or hurt him in any way, she’ll destroy him, and that’s obviously what he’s trying to do.
Adam says she’s wrong.
Nikki tells Adam to walk away before things turn ugly.
Nick and Victoria are waiting in the office for Victor. When he comes in, Nick says they need to talk. He says that Victoria and Nick are concerned about his wellbeing.
Victor says their concern is needless. Less than 24 hours ago, they were working out on the heavy punching bag, and Nick could hardly keep up with him… He’s in perfect physical health!
Victoria says they’re not worried about his physical health.
Nick says they’re concerned that the stress of being back at Newman might be causing him to forget things and causing him to be confused.
Victoria asks Victor not to think they’re attacking him. They love him, and if their positions were reversed, Victor would move heaven and earth to help them.
Victor points at Victoria. He says, “This is your doing, isn’t it?”
Chancellor Park
Danny asks when he can move out of the hotel and into his son’s apartment.
Daniel says it shouldn’t be too long… As soon as the apartment is ready.
Phyllis thinks it’s very exciting. She’s throwing a housewarming party!
Daniel laughs and says it just can’t be tonight.
Phyllis says they’ll just go out for drinks, then.
Daniel thinks that’s a good idea. He asks Lily if she’d like to come.
Lily thinks for a moment and agrees to come for drinks.
Phyllis asks if Danny will come too.
Danny says he’d be happy to.
Newman Enterprises
Victoria asks Victor what he’s talking about… What is her doing?
Victor says Victoria has convinced Nick that he’s lost his marbles and can’t run his company anymore. He says she’s not concerned for Victor, but just wants to reclaim the CEO position.
Victoria say it’s not true. If there was a choice between protecting the company and protecting her father, she’d choose her father every time.
Victor says he’s disappointed that they’d both try to backstab him.
In the lobby, Adam tells Nikki that they need to keep their priorities straight. He’s only concerned about his father.
Nikki says he’s not, and as clever as he thinks he is, Victor isn’t falling for Adam’s clever ploy any more than she is.
Adam asks what that’s supposed to mean.
Nikki says she’s watching Adam’s every move and won’t let him break Victor’s heart again. She walks away.
Adam walks over to Victor’s office door, ready to enter, when he hears Victor tell Victoria and Nick to “get the hell out of my office!”
Victoria and Nick leave Victor’s office and walk right by Adam without saying a word.
Adam stands in the lobby, looking confused.
