Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Victor told Nikki he plans to out the traitor at Newman, and Daniel surprised Lily by moving into her building.
Newman Enterprises
Victor asks Nate for an update on Adam’s performance.
Nate says that Adam is doing well. He’s punctual, attentive, and one step ahead of what’s needed.
Victor says Adam sounds like a perfect assistant.
Nate says that Adam anticipates things before Nate even asks. His work is exemplary. Nate notices the look on Victor’s face and asks why he looks disappointed.
The Chancellor Mansion
Devon and Lily are on a video call with Jill.
Jill says she hasn’t found out anything about Mamie or her investment company, nor does she know why Mamie invested in Chancellor-Winters.
Lily figures there might be nothing for Jill to find.
Jill says she’s not convinced that Mamie is being up front about it. Jill is flying to San Paolo for a bit, so Lily and Devon need to be on alert. She wants to be kept informed about anything they might find.
Devon wonders how big of a threat Mamie could be to the company, even if she does have a hidden agenda.
Jill says she doesn’t underestimate Mamie, and neither should they.
Mamie’s GCAC Suite
Mamie opens the door to Tucker and sighs… This can’t be wise for him to visit!
Tucker comes into the room and says it’s time that they touched base.
Mamie says Tucker could have phoned. There are no new developments, she doesn’t know what there is to discuss.
Tucker mentions that he saw her with Nate the other night… What did they discuss?
Mamie says he’s her great-nephew, there’s nothing else to it.
Tucker asks if she’s sure that it had nothing to do with “their arrangement.”
Mamie says even if it did, why would it matter? She’s been honest with Tucker from the beginning. She’s only interested in bringing her family under one corporate roof. He’s Devon’s father, don’t they share similar goals?
Tucker says he wasn’t aware her plans included Nate.
Mamie says they do… He’s her family too.
Tucker says he understands Mamie’s loyalty, but she’s misguided when it comes to Nate… He betrayed Tucker’s son.
Mamie tells Tucker he’s crossing a line, and Devon and Nate have moved past his betrayal.
Tucker says it’s one thing to move past a family conflict, but trusting Nate with business is a bad idea. He asks if Mamie knows what Nate did to his family while at Chancellor-Winters.
Mamie says Nate gave her an overview of what took place.
Tucker says Nate teamed up with Victoria to buy up all the shares of the company when it went public, which would have put it in control of Newman Enterprises.
Mamie says Nate regrets his actions.
Tucker figures Nate regrets getting caught, and he’s ambitious and single-minded. He’s only looking out for himself and can’t be trusted. He could destroy any success they aim to achieve.
Mamie says she had an agreement with Tucker… To stay out of each other’s way and to play to their strengths.
Tucker says he doesn’t want Mamie to forget their common enemy… Jill Abbott. She’s never had any business running Chancellor-Winters, which belonged to Tucker’s mother, Katherine.
Mamie says she doesn’t blame him… Jill was Katherine’s greatest rival. She has respect for Katherine, and because Tucker is her son, she respects him too.
Tucker reminds her that their goal is to give have Devon and Lily run the company with Jill out of the way. The only reason Tucker is doing anything is to secure Devon’s future.
Mamie says that Devon and Lily are great assets to the company, and they don’t need Jill.
Tucker says Mamie doesn’t need Nate; he was never part of the deal.
Mamie crosses her arms and says that’s non-negotiable.
Tucker tells her she’s making a mistake.
Mamie says she’ll handle the issues between the cousins, and it’s not any of Tucker’s concern or his business. She’s the one with the stake in Chancellor-Winters, so no matter who’s son Tucker is, he doesn’t want to cross her on it.
The Chancellor Mansion
Devon tells Jill that he doesn’t know why they should feel threatened by Mamie if she has such a small stake in the company.
Lily says their numbers are up at the company, and Mamie has only talked about supporting them both.
Jill laughs and says that’s what Mamie wants them to think.
Devon says since Jill hasn’t found anything even though she’s looked so hard, maybe Mamie is telling the truth.
Jill says Mamie might just be very good at covering her tracks. She knows Mamie, and she bets that it’s all about Jill.
Lily wonders why Mamie is doing it now… Their battles were ancient history.
Newman Enterprises
Victor asks Nate why he thinks Victor would be upset that Adam is behaving himself.
Nate thinks Victor might be thinking that Adam is falling in line a little too easily.
Victor says Adam has said he’d turn over a new leaf many times in the past… Why would this time be any different?
Nate says at first, Adam thought the role of assistant was beneath him, but he seems to have thrown himself into it.
Victor wonders what Adam is trying to achieve.
Nate says right now, Adam’s biggest concern is Victor’s state of mind, and Victoria has expressed her concern about it as well.
Victor asks if Nate is concerned about his mental health.
Nate reminds Victor that he was his doctor, and trusts that Victor would get medical help if he needed it.
Victor laughs and asks what Adam said about him.
Nate says Adam has noticed that Victor has been forgetful, had some changes in temperment, and thinks that everyone should keep an eye on him.
Victor thanks Nate for meeting with him.
Nate leaves the office.
Mamie’s GCAC Suite
Tucker thinks Mamie wants him to back down… Should he just bow out gracefully?
Mamie says Tucker should just trust her.
Tucker figures bringing Nate into the picture will only complicate things. He thinks it’s unlikely that Mamie will be able to lure Nate away from Newman. It’s a perfect job for him and he’s in love with his boss… How can Mamie compete with that?
Mamie says family always wins.
Tucker says his money is on Victoria.
Mamie says everyone is always underestimating her ability to get what she wants.
Tucker says he wouldn’t underestimate her… He’s very impressed by her determination.
Mamie tells Tucker to focus on his side of the arrangement… He’s in charge of taking care of Jill! Has he even started yet?
Tucker says it’ll happen soon. At the moment, he has other priorities. He kisses her on the cheek and leaves her room.
Newman Enterprises
Nikki sees Nate deep in thought outside the elevators. She asks if everything is alright.
Nate says he’s not sure… Victor was clear-headed when they talked.
Nikki asks if that’s unusual.
Nate says that there was no hint of the “odd behavior” that Victoria and Adam said they saw from him.
Nikki says that’s because Victor’s children are mistaken. She stalks off, seemingly angry, and enters Victor’s office and closes the door behind her.
Victor greets her.
Nikki says she just talked to Nate, and he was suspicious that Victor was acting normally.
Victor just grunts.
Nikki shakes her head. She can’t believe it. She says that Victor is pretending he’s mentally unstable and begs him to tell her the truth… Tell her he’s not losing his mind!
Victor says he’s not losing his mind. He’s beginning to discover certain patterns amongst his children, and it’s upsetting.
The Chancellor Mansion
Devon and Lily finish their call with Jill. Devon’s phone pings with a message. It’s Tucker, who asks if Devon wants to go to lunch with him.
Lily asks if Devon has spoken to Tucker recently.
Devon says he hasn’t. He doesn’t know what to believe about Tucker lately.
Lily says Tucker just lost Ashley, and doubts he’d want to risk his relationship with his son, too.
Devon says he asked Tucker about the connection to Mamie, and he assured him there was no connection.
Lily thinks that’s good.
Devon says it would be fine if he could be trusted… Tucker called a truce with the Abbotts and showed up to Jack & Diane’s wedding reception just to cause tension.
Lily says Tucker has a knack for showing up uninvited.
Devon isn’t convinced there isn’t something going on between Tucker and Mamie. He didn’t tell Jill because he needs to get more information on Tucker first.
Jill thought Devon was going to distance himself from Tucker.
Devon says he’s still thinking about it. Even though it’s nice to have his father in his life, he’s just not sure. He could be messing around with the Abbott’s family and with theirs too.
Lily asks what Devon is going to do.
Devon says he’s going to tell Tucker his day is full. He texts Tucker, but as soon as he’s finished messaging him, Tucker calls him on the phone.
Tucker says he’d like to meet. Just name the time and place.
Devon says he’s got a lot going on.
Tucker figures he’s either busy or he’s hesitant to talk to him because of the tension between them… He’d hate if his breakup with Abby’s mother comes between them.
Devon says he understands how difficult that must be, but he doesn’t have time to meet.
Tucker says it would really mean a lot to him if they could meet.
Devon finally gives in. He says that there are some things he needs to make clear when they talk.
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Devon enters the club and joins Tucker in the dining room. They make some small talk before getting down to business.
Tucker says they seemed to be in a good place and wants to know why Devon sis keeping his distance from him lately.
Devon says Tucker has a lot of drama around him, and he thinks Tucker might be playing him too.
Tucker asks if Devon really thinks he’d do something like that.
Devon says he doesn’t think he would, but he doesn’t know for sure.
Tucker wants to fix it. He asks how.
Devon says he doesn’t know how to trust Tucker.
Tucker says he’s been honest with Devon.
Devon mentions that Tucker called a truce but showed up uninvited at the Abbott’s reception… What were his intentions with that?
Tucker laughs and says he just wanted to give them a wedding gift. It was a bonsai tree that symbolized his desire for peace and harmony with them.
Devon says he could have put the gift in the mail; the Abbotts don’t like Tucker.
Tucker says he thought he could communicate his sincerity better in person.
Devon says he can’t shake the feeling that Tucker has something going on with Mamie.
Tucker asks if Devon instantly doubts anything Tucker says. He’s trying hard, and wishes Devon could meet him halfway… What can he do?
Devon says he can start by telling him about Ashley. He says their problems started around the time he broke up with Ashley, and Devon doesn’t think he’s taken responsibility for the breakup.
Tucker says he’s done everything he can.
Devon says Abby told him that Tucker had reached out to Ashley. He asks if Tucker’s softening his stance and trying to work things out between them.
Tucker says he wishes there was a way to work things out. He hates the way things ended, but Ashley didn’t respond to him, so he doesn’t see a path forward for them.
Devon says Ashley told her family that she’s scared of Tucker. It’d make sense that she’s not responding to him because of that, or maybe she thinks Tucker won’t compromise.
Tucker says he compromised and accomodated until he couldn’t do it anymore.
Devon says it all came apart because Ashley wanted to go back to her family and her family company. What did Tucker expect her to do? Cut off the family so he could have her all to himself?
Tucker says he wanted to be a priority to Ashley… That’s not too much to ask.
Devon says people think he dumped Ashley because she wouldn’t start a company with him.
Tucker says that’s just one example of a bigger issue between them. Ashley will always choose her family over Tucker.
Devon asks how Tucker knows that… They’d just gotten married, and their history hadn’t been the smoothest. She could have been afraid that Tucker was only with her because of what she could do for him and not because he loved her.
Tucker asks if Devon thinks that he only wants to use people like tools.
Devon tells him that sometimes, Tucker does use people like tools.
Tucker says his love for Ashley was real, and not just about business.
Devon asks why it was so easy for him to walk away from Ashley, if that was the case.
Tucker says it’s not easy on him. He only wanted to spend a honeymoon with his wife and plan for their future.
Devon asks why Jack & Billy think that Tucker are trying to sabotage Jabot.
Tucker says he might have “let off a little steam” when he got back from Paris.
Devon asks what that means.
Tucker says he was full of rage and made empty threats. It was just pain talking. He was hurt and alone, and doesn’t have any intention to follow through with any threats he made.
Devon asks how he can trust that Tucker’s not going to try some sort of revenge.
Tucker says he’s not planning anything. He’s only in town for Devon and Dominic. He wants to fix whatever is broken between them.
Devon says that could be possible if Tucker doesn’t have a revenge plan for the Abbotts and if he’s not connected to Mamie and Chancellor-Winters.
Tucker says Devon and Dominic matter to him.
Devon says that’s funny, because Tucker keeps doing stupid things to jeopardize their relationship… Like threatening his girlfriend’s family. When Ashley comes back to town and finds Tucker still involved, there is going to be chaos.
Tucker says there won’t be chaos for him.
Devon isn’t talking about Tucker. Abby will always side with her mother, and Devon will always side with his son’s mother. Tucker needs to swallow his pride and make things right with Ashley.
Newman Enterprises
Nikki tells Victor that he’s being cruel by making his children think he’s ill.
Victor says the possibility that one of his children might betray him is cruel.
Nikki says Victoria would never betray him.
Victor says Victoria might think she would have to betray him for his own good. His plan needs to play itself out.
Nikki, upset, says she has to think about everything. She leaves the office, slamming the door behind her.
Victor’s phone rings. It’s Jill, video calling.
Victor says he saw that Mamie announced her investment in Chancellor-Winters.
Jill says she wants to know exactly how that happened. She wants to know who reached out to whom, and wants to know every word Mamie said to Victor during the stock purchase.
Victor can’t believe Jill is feeling threatened.
Jill is angry. She says that someone has infiltrated her company without her permission, and Victor doesn’t think she should be taking seriously?
Victor asks why Jill would be concerned that a relative of Devon and Lily would want to invest in their compoany.
Jill says Victor seems to have forgotten about her and Mamie’s troubled history. She has no reason to trust Mamie.
Victor says there was no indication that Mamie was anything but above board.
Jill wonders if Victor would tell her if she was.
Crimson Lights
Mamie enters the coffee shop and hugs Lily.
They sit down and make some small talk.
Mamie asks how Lily feels about her investing in Chancellor-Winters.
Lily says it’s nice that Mamie wants to be involved with her and Devon, but she finds all the mystery around it a little surprising.
Mamie says she wanted to make sure everything was in place before revealing her hand.
Lily says Mamie really made an impression on Jill… She’s unsettled.
Mamie says she won’t lose any sleep over it. She doesn’t care what Jill thinks. She only cares what Devon and Lily think about it. She asks if Lily doubts her sincerity.
Lily says she’s thought about… Can she speak plainly?
Mamie says she would expect nothing less.
The GCAC Dining Room
Devon asks Tucker if he’d try to make amends with Ashley if she walked in the door right now.
Tucker says of course he would… He loves her, but it’s not that simple. Ashley changed her mind about what she wants in life.
Devon figures that Tucker overreacted if that’s all Ashley had done.
Tucker asks Devon if he’d give up his dreams, his career, and his business if Abby asked him to.
Devon says he would without a question. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for the woman he loves.
Tucker says he has some thinking to do.
Newman Enterprises
Nikki comes back into Victor’s office. She doesn’t look happy. She says she can’t condone Victor’s behavior, and if Victoria, Nicholas, or even Adam find out that Victor is laying a trap for them, all hell could break loose.
Victor says the end justifies the means. Once one of them betrays him, the rest will understand what motivated him to do this.
Nikki wonders what happens if Victor can’t keep going with his deception. She says Nate is suspicious of his behavior, and he helped Victor play dead, so he’s well aware of what Victor is capable of and could share his suspicions with Victoria.
Victor says he factored that into his decisions. He knows that one of his children will make a move soon.
Crimson Lights
Lily tells Mamie that she believes she wants to do the right thing.
Mamie says she regrets the distance she’s had from Lily, Devon, and Nate over the past years. She wants to remedy that.
Lily knows she wanted a tangible connection with them, but she also thinks that Mamie wanted to shake Jill, so why not kill two birds with one stone?
Mamie laughs and says Lily is smart like her mother. She says this is about family, and that includes Nate. She really wants him at Chancellor-Winters.
Lily says that won’t be easy. There are lingering tensions.
Mamie says she knows what Nate did, and he’s remorseful.
Lily says it’d be hard to get Devon to be on board with Nate working with them.
Mamie asks what it would take to have Devon give Nate another chance.
The GCAC
Nate enters the club and sees Devon in the lobby.
They make some small talk, and Devon goes to leave, but Nate stops him. He wants to know what Devon thinks about Mamie’s investment in Chancellor-Winters.
Devon thinks it’s great for the family. He figures Mamie was feeling isolated in Detroit, so coming home to Genoa City is the best thing for her. He thinks they should make her feel welcome, and they should do that together.
Nate agrees. He’d like that. He says that Mamie wants him to come back to Chancellor-Winters, and she’ll probably work on Lily and Devon to make it happen.
Devon isn’t surprised. Mamie brought that up at the party.
Nate says Mamie wants to know what it would take to get him back to the family company.
Devon thanks Nate for the warning.
Nate says he wanted to let Devon know… He’s not behind it, and he’s perfectly happy at Newman.
Devon tells Nate that if he’s happy at Newman Enterprises, he’ll have to persuade Mamie that he doesn’t want to return to Chancellor-Winters.
Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Tucker sends Ashley a text. “Is there a way back from this?”
He pours a drink, and his phone pings.
He reads the message from Ashley. “No.”
Tucker throws his glass across the room, shattering it against the door.
Next Week on The Young and the Restless
Nick tells Sharon that Victor has been playing them… He’s as sharp as ever.
Danny and Christine meet in the coffee shop. Danny asks how her trip went to see Paul.
Christine tears up and says it didn’t go well.
To Diane’s dismay, Ashley returns home.
