Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, (RETRO) JT rescued Colleen, the police dismissed Kevin as the arsonist, and Brittany & Raul discussed their future.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
It’s after midnight on New Year’s Day. Adam walks down the stairs into the lounge and sees the festive decorations left over from earlier in the evening… New Year’s Eve celebrations. He picks up a party horn, smiling.
Sally approaches him and says, “You know how those work, don’t you? You just put your lips together and blow!”
Adam recognizes it as a quote from Lauren Bacall in To Have and to Have Not. He asks Sally to show him how it’s done.
Sally says it’s one of her favorite movies. She picks up the horn and blows through it.
Adam says she’s obviously been practicing. He asks if she celebrated New Year’s with champagne and confetti in the lounge.
Sally says she watched the ball drop from the TV in her room. She just came down because she was restless.
Adam says he’s feeling the same. He asks if he can buy her a drink for Auld Lang Syne.
Crimson Lights
Nick enters the coffee house and asks Sharon if it’s too late for him to get a cup of coffee.
Sharon laughs and says it’s not too late for him, but she’s shutting the door to anyone else. She says New Year’s Eve is one of the busiest nights of the year.
Esther mentions that people want to stay awake for midnight, so they were busy with people getting over-caffeinated.
Sharon thanks Esther for her help during the rush.
Esther tells Sharon she should delegate more. Sharon’s the owner of a big company, yet her she is slinging coffee on New Year’s Eve. She says she’ll get Nick’s coffee.
Sharon asks why Nick is at the coffee shop. She thought he’d be with his family celebrating.
Nick says it’s been a rough few days with his family.
Esther asks whether everyone’s okay.
Sharon dodges the question and tells Esther she can go home early… Sharon will close up.
Esther protests, but Sharon tells her she’s been on her feet for over twelve hours. She wishes her a Happy New Year and tells her to head home.
Esther agrees and leaves the shop, turning the sign to Closed as she departs.
Sharon asks Nick what happened.
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Cole and Victoria sit at a table. Cole is looking through the wine list, and suggests they get a bottle of champagne since they missed the countdown.
Victoria’s not really in the mood to celebrate after their day.
Cole says Claire’s getting settled in, and says that she’d been through an ordeal even before Jordan kidnapped her from the hospital for the second time and took her to the cabin. He says Claire is safe, and they’ll do whatever is needed to keep her that way.
Victoria’s still worried. They said they were going to keep her safe, but Claire ended up getting kidnapped and almost killed! Victoria wonders how much more Claire can take of this. She’s scared that Claire is slipping further away from them.
Genoa City Memorial Hospital
Claire sits on the bed, thinking about how Jordan had betrayed her. Jordan deceived her for years, falsely accusing the Newmans of abandoning Claire, when in reality, Jordan had kidnapped her.
Claire recalls that Jordan had saved herself at the lake house and left her to take the fall, and then kidnapped and tried to kill her.
Claire thinks she deserves everything that happened to her and thinks Cole and Victoria fear her.
Claire doesn’t think Victoria or Cole will ever love her, and she’s alone, with nobody and nothing, and she always will be.
Newman Ranch
Nikki wanders into the living room and looks at the drink tray, but there’s no alcohol in sight.
Victor walks over and places his hand on her shoulder, telling her that he removed the temptation.
Nikki hates that Victor has to protect her from herself, but she’s grateful.
Victor says he had to get out of bed because he could tell she was struggling.
Nikki isn’t sure she’s going to make it through this.
Victor kisses her head gently.
Crimson Lights
Sharon is shocked after Nick tells her about Jordan kidnapping Claire from the hospital and ultimately getting arrested after trying to kill Nikki and Claire.
Nick says Jordan’s locked up… Hopefully, it’ll be a very long time.
Sharon asks how Victoria’s holding up… Finding out that Claire was her “dead” child, Eve, must have been hard on her.
Nick shrugs and says it will be hard for her to connect since Claire’s been programmed to hate Victoria.
Sharon thinks that therapy could help Claire get past her anger.
Nick wishes Sharon could be Claire’s therapist.
The GCAC Dining Room
Victoria thinks it will be hard for Claire to get past decades of brainwashing against Victoria and Cole.
Cole says they should be grateful that Jordan’s out of their lives, thanks to Nikki. He says Nikki saved them all.
Victoria knows her mom fought hard for them, but she can’t stop thinking about how Claire feels about what happened.
Cole says they need Claire to know she’s not alone and has parents who care for her.
Memorial Hospital
Claire sits in bed, ruminating that Victoria and Cole think she’s a monster. She can see it in their eyes. She can’t look in their eyes anymore.
Claire thinks she shouldn’t let anyone get close to her… Not the doctors or her parents.
Claire tells herself to stop calling them her parents. They’re Victoria and Cole, not Mom and Dad. Not her parents. She thinks they can’t love her, and she can’t love them.
Claire thinks this is the way it’s always going to be.
Newman Ranch
Victor offers to bring Nikki some tea to help her sleep.
Nikki doesn’t want to sleep. It just brings nightmares of Jordan.
Victor says they’ll stay up and watch the sunrise together.
Nikki smiles and says they watched the sunrise when they were much younger.
Victor suggests they play chess or cards, or they can tell each other stories.
Nikki laughs and says after all these years, they’ve surely told each other all their stories.
Victor says he can’t get enough of Nikki’s stories… Anything to get her through the night! He’s there for her.
Nikki snuggles up to him and calls him “her rock.” She doesn’t know what she’d do without him.
Nikki sits up and says it got pretty bad when she was at her worst.
Victor says he was angry because she was dependent on alcohol. He understands now she was trying to self-medicate for a horseriding injury.
Flashback. A much younger Victor is uncapping bottles of alcohol and pouring them down the drain while Nikki cries. He accused her of being so indebted to alcohol that her children, friends, and family didn’t matter to her.
Nikki says it was a terrible day, but he was right; even his anger didn’t stop her from drinking that day, but it didn’t stop him from helping her. He could have walked out, but he didn’t!
Victor says he didn’t walk out on her then and won’t now; Nikki is the love of his life, and he will always protect her.
Crimson Lights
Sharon tells Nick Claire is in good hands; Memorial Hospital has some of the best psychiatric care in the country.
Nick says Sharon has helped him through some tough times as a therapist and a friend.
Sharon says Nick needs some help right now; he’s been through some trauma. How is he holding up?
Nick says he’s fine; the knife wound is healing. Mentally, he’s only worried about his family. He has to make sure they heal and get through it.
Sharon says she won’t push, but he doesn’t have to do it alone.
Nick says he’s not alone; he has friends and an amazing family, and they will get through it.

The Jazz Lounge
Adam and Sally clink their glasses in a toast. Adam quips they’re drinking champagne like a “normal” New Year’s Eve.
Sally says it wasn’t like their first one… They didn’t actually celebrate that New Year’s Eve. There wasn’t a noisemaker or confetti anywhere, and they watched North by Northwest.
Adam says she had a Cary Grant fixation. They didn’t have champagne that night… Sally served vodka and caviar!
They reminisce, and Sally says they didn’t want to spend New Year’s Eve alone that night.
Adam says they didn’t want to spend it alone then, and they don’t want to spend it alone tonight either. He says they should turn the clock back and celebrate New Year’s on their own.
Sally laughs and says they should do it. They count down from ten to one and clink their glasses in a toast, wishing each other Happy New Year.
Adam says they’re missing one thing… A kiss!
Newman Ranch
Nikki tells Victor he never gave up; he got her to go to rehab.
Victor says it worked; she got sober.
Nikki nods. It worked for a while until Maggie and Deacon “happened.”
Victor had forgotten about Maggie and Deacon. He says they tried to ruin Nikki’s life but never succeeded.
Flashback. Victor had brought Nikki a necklace with a Chinese symbol for courage and strength. He’d told her if she needed any, she could just look at it.
Nikki thinks Victor knew what she needed at that moment when he’d bought her the necklace.
Victor says they get through things together. They’ll work toward her sobriety as a family. He has plans for 2024 and their family!
The GCAC Dining Room
Victoria and Cole agree that they need to move slowly, but they’ll take care of Claire. Victoria says Cole’s been a positive force and let her stay focused on what’s important… Their daughter.
Victoria laughs and says it’s a strange way for them to reconnect; it’s been a long time since they last saw each other!
Cole says it’s been too long. He doesn’t think they ever really got over losing baby Eve. He can’t help but think how different things could have been between him and Victoria.
The Jazz Lounge
Sally tells Adam he’s pushing things again.
Adam says he can’t help himself when it comes to her.
Sally smiles, hops up, and kisses his cheek as Adam grins ear to ear. She says that’s one legitimate New Year’s Eve kiss!
Adam laughs and says this doesn’t count as the date she agreed to have with him.
Sally grins and says she’d have to read the fine print on that agreement; they had lunch and dinner together.
Adam nods. Maybe she’s right! Are they dating?
Sally says they’re definitely not dating… Yet. And Adam’s still pushing.
Adam says he’s just happy to be celebrating a New Year. 2024 is a new opportunity!
Sally is excited about the new year, too. She thinks her business will take off in the new year, and she feels “like herself.”
Adam is happy she’s getting her “Spectra energy” back. He thinks 2024 will be good for him, too. His relationship with Victor is going well, and he’s optimistic about himself and Sally. He thinks they’re on the cusp of a “great second half.”
The Next Morning at Newman Ranch
Victor and Nikki hug each other and say good morning. Victor says it’s a beautiful morning, but he’s sorry they didn’t stay up to watch the sunrise together.
Nikki says she’s glad they didn’t; she finally got some sleep thanks to drifting off in his arms on the couch. She says it’s the first time she hasn’t had nightmares since her ordeal began.
Victor’s happy to hear that. He asks why she’s dressed for work; she should take the day off! They can walk around the ranch together and be thankful for their blessings.
Nikki says she’ll take a rain check for the walk. It’s a new year, and she wants to work; she can have a fresh start! She’s going to go to an AA meeting this morning as well.
Victoria walks in and kisses them each in greeting.
Nikki tells Victoria she’s heading to an AA meeting and will see them both at the office.
Victoria asks if Nikki’s ready to get back to work.
Nikki says she’s pretty much gotten over things, thanks to Victor.
Victoria thinks it’s inspiring how Nikki and Victor are always there for each other.
Victor says they all love each other and they’ll overcome any difficulty that life throws at them.
The GCAC Dining Room / Newman Enterprises
Sally finishes her morning coffee and finds a “Happy New Year!” hat on the floor under the table. She looks at it and smiles before picking up her phone and calling Adam.
Adam answers and asks how the rest of Sally’s night was.
Sally says she went right to sleep; Adam cured her restlessness.
Adam says he must have bored her to sleep.
Sally laughs and says Adam is a lot of things, but he’s not boring. She asks what he did.
Adam says he’s woken up and is ready to tackle 2024.
Sally says she wanted to thank him for last night and wonders if he’s free for dinner this evening.
Adam asks if it’s going to be a date or whether it’s another loophole.
Sally laughs and says it’ll be a real honest-to-goodness date.
Adam jokes that he’s going to have to check his calendar… Oh, look at that, he’s free! He can’t wait.
Memorial Hospital
Victoria and Cole show up at the hospital. They look in and see she’s sleeping. Victoria says they never got to watch her sleep. She wishes they’d been able to read Claire stories and soothe her when she was sick.
Cole says there’s no moving back; they’ve agreed only to move forward.
An AA Meeting
Nikki tells the group that she’s been having trouble sleeping because of the nightmares, and drinking used to mask her painful feelings for her… But it made the thoughts worse and made her need to drink more.
Nikki says she’s grateful that her husband stayed up with her last night so she wouldn’t have to be alone with her thoughts and feelings. She says Victor is her rock. She knows she can’t rely on Victor to keep her sober; only she can keep herself sober.
She says everyone other than an alcoholic thinks it’s simple… Just don’t drink! But it’s not that easy. She says she has a lot of demons to face to get sober.
Newman Enterprises
Adam, Nick, and Victor are in Victor’s office. Adam says he can’t believe what’s going on… Everyone nearly died! He asks Nick if the knife wound was the “personal matter” that he wouldn’t tell him about.
Nick says there’s been a lot going on, and he hasn’t been in the mood to share.
Adam says Nick is his brother and Victor is his son… He can’t believe they kept him in the dark about Claire and Jordan. Whether they like it or not, Adam is part of the family and wants to be kept in the loop, especially on something this big!
Victor tells Adam to stop; they called him in as a family and want to fill him in.
Adam is still in disbelief that Victoria has a grown child who she thought was dead. He can’t imagine what Victoria’s feeling; is she okay to work?
Nick tells him not to start with that.
Victor tells them to stop bickering and slams his hands down on the desk. He says they work together as a family, and they can’t argue anymore… He’s tired of it!
Crimson Lights
Sharon hands Victoria a black coffee to go. She says Nick told her everything that had happened to them… How’s Victoria holding up?
Victoria says she’s not sure.
Sharon says to let her know if she needs someone to talk to.
Victoria says she appreciates it. She asks if Sharon has a couple of minutes to talk right now.
Sharon nods. Of course! They have a seat at a table.
Victoria tells Sharon she feels like she doesn’t know what to do.
Sharon figures that’s not a familiar feeling for Victoria. She asks what Victoria’s looking to do.
Victoria says she and Cole want to find a way to connect with Claire but she doesn’t know how to start. She explains that Claire was raised to hate them, thinking they’d abandoned her. How do they undo that?
Sharon says Victoria shouldn’t think of it as undoing things… She should think of it as showing Claire who she really is. She says it won’t happen overnight.
Victoria says it’s hard to be patient; they’ve already lost so much time with Claire!
Sharon says Victoria has to take care of herself, too… This is going to be hard on her as well as Claire!
Victoria says she’s starting to realize that. She says she needs to get back to the office.
Sharon says work can be a distraction during hard times, but has Victoria thought about taking some time off?
Victoria says Sharon knows how it is at Newman.
Sharon smiles and says she does; that’s why she thinks Victoria should consider taking time off! Victoria has already lost precious time with her daughter and shouldn’t lose any more.
Newman Enterprises
Nikki walks into the offices and greets Nick, Adam, and Victor.
Nick asks how she’s feeling.
Nikki says she’s feeling better… One step at a time, but she’s feeling optimistic.
Adam tells Nikki that Nick and Victor filled him in on what had happened, and offers his help if she needs anything.
Victor says he was telling the Nick and Adam about the importance of working together in the new year.
Adam says it’s the top item on his list of New Year’s Resolutions, so they won’t get any trouble from him!
Memorial Hospital
Cole, alone, enters a sleeping Claire’s room. He says she needs to get her rest, but he hopes she’s not going someplace inside herself where they can’t help her.
Cole sits beside her bed and says he wants to tell her a story he couldn’t tell her before.
“Once upon a time, there was a little girl whose parents couldn’t wait for her to be born. They had hopes and dreams for her and hopes and dreams about what their lives would be like with her.” He says they can finish it when she wakes up.
Cole says he and her mom will be there with her through everything.
Newman Enterprises
Victoria walks into the office and asks if there’s a family meeting that she didn’t know about.
Adam explains that Nick and Victor filled him in on what happened; he says he’s sorry that happened and asks how she’s holding up.
Victoria says she’s doing okay under the circumstances.
Nick asks how Claire is.
Victoria says Claire’s sleeping and Cole will call her when she wakes up. She says she’s glad they’re all there together; she’s taking a leave of absence to devote herself to Claire’s recovery.

Hate the Jordan, Clair, Cole story line.
Unfinished business- Connor was never told Christian is his bio brother and why is Christian off screen.
Phyllis, Danny Heather Daniel and Cricket – another lame , repetitive story line.
Victor’s dementia would have been a great direction if it was not another lie. Real issues, new cast members and a new business venture not related to Newman, Jabot or Winters. Bring Elena back with a meaningful story line.
I hope eveventually will reconnect with Cole and Victoria and accept them as her Parents and call her mom and dad, this help everyone heal

I love the story line of Claire being “dead” baby Eve I remember when it supposedly happened back in the day….. and I can totally relate to Nicki going to her AA meetings because that part is real life and a lot of us CAN RELATE to it….. I wish the writers would put nick and Sharon back together so they could be the “new” Nicki and Victor Newman…. And Summer could get together with chance and see how that plays out…. I’m already thinking that Audra is pregnant with Kyle’s baby…. So there’s a story line and a story line that I’ve already thought about is with Jack and Diane wouldn’t it be interesting if she was the mole in Jabbo and was married to Tucker first?? While Tucker is trying to get with Phyllis and EVERYONE KNOWS that they know you’re OK are mortal enemy of each other and that Phyllis belongs with Jack Abbott …… I have watched this show every since I was a little girl I would skip school and stay with my grandma just to be able to watch it…..
Please let Adam and Sally be together, and she pregnant again with Adam baby, also Adam family PLEASE except him and believe that he can change., after all Nick and Victoria is awful and always putting Adam down.Also that other girl, Sally please put her in her place and don’t let her bash Adam.I can’t think of her name.She needs to mind her own business.Please don’t let Sharon and Nick go back to each other.I wish Ashley and Tucker could have made it.It is time for Danny and Christine and please don’t let Heather break up Lily and that guy
Have Phyllis quit feeling sorry for herself as usual. Being slutty with Danny doesn’t help. And Danny was into kissing ole red back, he needs to fess up to Christine. And don’t tell her ” not to make an issue of it ” either ya horny piano man ! Clair at first was so convinced and ready to become Cole and Victoria’s daughter but now she’s in a mental daze ?

Nicki stinking problem is getting old leave it alone every time you run out of things to write about you make her crash & burn make her a stronger woman quit making her a lush she’s better than that

Hope Claire trusts the process and would love to see Nick Victoria respect Adam and love him like they do each other. I love Adam and can relate, been watching for fifty years
I am sick of Sally and Adam. Adam is con artist and you are making Sally a stupid bimbo. Nick was good to her and she hasn’t thought about him since the last time they were together. She knows Adam will never change and she acts like he’s been reincarnated even though he is not shown, he has changed at all. I have watched Young and the Restless since it started and the storyline keeps getting more ridiculous every day!! Please make the storyline a little more believable!
I have been watching Y&R for a lot of years. I am about to stop watching the show if Adam and Sally are written back together! Nick deserves to win in a relationship!! Nick can make Sally a better person and help her reach her goals and dreams genuinely, Adam can’t. I beg you, I implore the writers to get Nick and Sally back together! 🙏🏼 This story line is the most interesting one to me.
Bring Elana back. A storyline with her in it would be interesting with a love interest, maybe 🤔 Nick. Please don’t put Sally and Adam back together even if Nick doesn’t get back with her.
The Daniel and Danny storylines are very lame and uninteresting. I guess they are both just bad actors. Nick has to be of the main characters because Victor is getting up in age. Nick needs a strong woman beside him, but not Sharon.🙏🏼
What do you mean not let Nick and Sharon get back together I think a lot of us would want that they’ve been together since they since they were young kids and then they’ve been through a lot in between the years and it’s time for them to get back together and stay together just like someone else commented Victor’s getting up there in age we know something’s going to happen eventually he’s not a young boy so Nick and Sharon need to take over Victor and Nikki’s place
