Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Cole & Victoria decided to meet with Claire, Phyllis quizzed Summer, and Billy got a job offer from Jill.
Daniel’s Apartment
Daniel is placing some items around his apartment when Lucy and Heather emerge from Lucy’s bedroom.
Lucy tells Daniel that she loves her bedroom. She says the colors, the bedding, and the lamps are amazing. She’s going to tell Sally Spectra that her design choices were out of this world.
Heather agrees. Sally’s done an amazing job!
Daniel laughs and thinks Sally would love to hear that “she rocks.”
Lucy says she can’t wait to sleep in her new bed and asks when can she move in.
Daniel is taken aback. He looks to Heather for guidance.
Society
Nate enters the restaurant and sees Lily sitting at a table. He psyches himself up and asks if she’s dining alone.
Lily says she’s just finished a lunch meeting.
Nate nods. He asks if she and Devon have given any more thought to him working at Chancellor-Winters.
Lily says they haven’t decided yet.
Nate reminds her that she and Devon had agreed to give Nate another chance if Mamie told them what Tucker was up to.
Lily says they said they’d consider it, which is what they’re doing.
Nate asks what’s left to consider.
Lily says Devon wants to talk to Victor and get his side of the story.
Nate says they still don’t trust him. He’s incredulous that Devon is going to Victor for a reference since Victor fired him.
Lily says they want to have the full story.
Nate says they’re not giving him a fair shake. He asks what he can do to prove to them that he’s changed. He says he’s a new man.
The Newman Ranch House
Nikki tells Victor that Nick left because his bandages were bothering him. She thinks Nick is in more pain than he’s showing.
Victor says Nick’s not the only one. He says he hopes Jordan and Claire are locked up and the keys thrown away.
Nikki says she’s terrified all over again just thinking about it. Victor’s the reason she was able to stay strong. She heard his voice telling her to keep fighting.
Victor smiles and raises his fist, saying he’d never let anyone hurt her.
He kisses her cheeks affectionately.
They sit down, and Nikki and Victor’s phones ping. It’s a group message saying that Victoria and Cole have gone to Oregon to talk to Claire in jail.
Nikki doesn’t like the idea of Victoria talking to Claire; nothing good can come from it!
Victor wonders if Cole and Victoria think there’s a possibility Claire is really their daughter. He asks how Nikki feels since she had alcohol forced into her system; how is it affecting her sobriety?
Nikki says she’s fine.
Victor hopes her ordeal won’t drive her back to the bottle again.
The Oregon Police Department
Claire, in handcuffs, is escorted into the visitor’s room, where she’s surprised to see Victoria and Cole waiting to talk to her. She asks what they’re doing there.
Victoria says they need more answers. She asks Claire how old she was when her aunt told her that they were her parents.
Claire asks why they care.
Cole says they want to know if there’s any possibility that she’s their daughter.
Claire asks what happens then… How would that change her situation? Would she suddenly have parents who embraced her, loved her, and accepted her into their lives? She asks if Victoria sees Claire as a victim and wants to use her power and influence to get her out of her current situation. She says she’s not sure she’d want that.
Society
Lily tells Nate she’s seen how hard he’s worked to turn things around, but his firing from Newman Enterprises is troubling.
Nate says he was looking out for Victor and the company, but Victor misread his intentions.
Lily knows. She says she and Devon want to hear Victor’s side of the story so they have all the facts.
Nate thinks Devon will take Victor’s word over his. He says he thought Victor was suffering from a debilitating illness and pretending he was losing his mind. Nate thinks it was “revolting” that Victor would do such a thing, especially to his own family. He says he was trying to get Victor help and to protect the company.
Lily says he was trying to get Victoria back in the CEO chair.
Nate says that was a byproduct of getting Victor the help he needed.
Lily says it comes down to one thing… Did Nate truly intend to help Victor, or did he really want Victoria back in the CEO position?
Nate says it’s not a fair question, and he doesn’t know how to answer that.
Lily says he just did. If Nate really cared about Victor, his health would be the first thing that Nate thought of, not returning Victoria to power. She says there’s no question what his priority should have been.
Nate says it sounds like he’s wasting his time even asking for consideration.
Lily says they’re trying to do the right thing.
Nate shakes his head and goes to leave the restaurant, passing Audra on the way out.
Audra asks how he is.
Nate says he’s had better days. He says he’s leaving; would she like to join him?
Audra agrees, and they leave together.
Lily rolls her eyes and starts tapping on her phone.
Daniel’s Apartment
Daniel, Lucy, and Heather are sitting in the living room. Daniel is surprised that Lucy wants to move in right away. He thought they had agreed to move her in on the weekend.
Lucy says the weekend is too far away; can’t she move in this afternoon?
Daniel laughs and says it’s fine with him as long as it’s okay with her mom.
Heather says Lucy must be anxious to abandon her.
Lucy says she’s not. She’s just taking a vacation from her mom until they move into their own place in a few weeks. She can’t let such a cool room go unused!
Heather laughs and says she’ll help her get packed.
Lucy jumps for joy and runs out of the room, telling her dad not to forget to text her Sally’s number.
Heather says she hasn’t seen Lucy as happy as she is lately. She thinks moving back to Genoa City was the right decision.
Daniel says Lucy is happy, but wonders how Heather feels about things… Does she think she’s made the right move?
The Newman House
Victor tells Nikki he’ll be there for her.
Nikki says it’s enough to have his love and support. She doesn’t want to drink, but she’s going to attend an AA meeting later that day.
Victor says he’s happy to hear it.
Nikki says Jordan and Claire wanted to destroy her, but she won’t give them the satisfaction.
Victor gives her a hug and tells her he’ll be there every step of the way.
Nikki flashes back to drinking the vodka at the Lake House. She looks over at the bottles in the room.
The Oregon Police Department
Victoria tells Claire that they’re there to find out if her story might be true… Maybe she is their daughter. If it is, Claire is as much a victim as they were.
Claire asks if they’d help her if it was true.
Victoria says they’d consider it, but they’d need concrete proof.
Cole asks if Jordan ever showed Claire any documentation like a birth certificate or hospital records, or even DNA test results.
Claire says she can’t accept that she’s been gaslighted since the day she was born.
Cole says there are no good answers, and Claire can’t be blamed for not verifying her aunt’s story.
Claire asks if that’s what this is about… Finding someone to blame?
Victoria says they’re looking for answers, and Claire hasn’t given them any so far. She says Claire’s world has been turned upside down the last few days, and she empathizes with her.
Cole says she’s in jail for kidnapping and attempted murder charges.
Victoria says it’s possible Claire’s aunt was grooming her to exact revenge on her parents, who “abandoned” her when she was a baby.
Cole thinks Jordan might have been programming Claire to help her get vengeance on Victor.
Victoria asks if that’s possible. She says that if it is true, then there may be a way for Claire to get out of her situation.
Claire asks what she needs to do.
Victoria says she needs to tell the truth to help them understand what happened.
Claire nods. She says she was five years old when Jordan told her about her parents.
The Newman House
Devon meets with Victor. They sit down and talk. Devon tells Victor he wants some information on a former employee of Newman Enterprise… Nate Hastings. He wants to know why he was fired, as Nate has asked to work with them at Chancellor-Winters.
Victor says he’ll tell Devon whatever he needs to know.

The GCAC Dining Room
Audra and Nate sit at the bar, drinks in front of them. Audra asks why Nate is so agitated.
Nate says Devon is meeting with Victor to hear his side of things about Nate’s firing.
Audra wonders if Nate is concerned that Victor will say that Nate is an opportunist. She says that Nate should stop playing the martyr. She thinks that Nate wanted Victoria back in the CEO seat.
Nate says Audra is making the same assumption that Victor and Lily made. He suggested Victor go away because he was concerned about his health and looking after the company.
Audra thinks Nate was doing things for himself, not just Victoria. She says he should own up to it. He’ll get more respect for that than he will by trying to excuse his behavior.
Daniel’s Apartment
Heather asks Daniel why he’s concerned about her.
Daniel says no matter what happened between them in the past, he always wants her to be happy.
Heather says she is happy, and she’s happy that she moved to Genoa City. It feels like home to her, and she’s had good vibes from her meetings with the Chancellor-Winters legal team.
Daniel asks if she got the job.
Heather shakes her head. She says she hasn’t heard back yet but thinks she’s a good fit for the position. She thanks Daniel for his help in bringing Lucy back.
Daniel asks if Heather thought things would be weird between them.
Heather says she was worried about it but couldn’t have done it without him. She gives him a hug in thanks.
Lily walks into Daniel’s apartment and sees Heather and Daniel hugging. She slams the door so they can hear her.
Daniel jumps up and kisses Lily, saying he’s glad she dropped by.
Heather laughs and says it’s sweet that Lily has her own key.
Lily says it’s convenient since she lives in the building. She hands Daniel another set of keys and tells him she’s made him a set for her apartment.
Lucy runs into the living room and says hello. She grabs her mom by the hand and pulls her out of the room, telling her that she’s going to need way more shoes to fill her closet.
Daniel smirks and tells Lily that sometimes, Lucy sounds way too much like Phyllis. He’s surprised but happy that Lily dropped by.
Lily says she hopes Lucy taking after her grandmother stops with clothes and shoes. She says she’s surprised too… She thought that Lucy was moving in on the weekend.
The Newman House
Victor tells Devon he’s going to try to put it tactfully… He’s glad Devon came to see him, but he doesn’t think that Nate can be trusted. He thought Devon would have figured that out already.
Devon says Nate claimed to have changed and that he knew what he did was wrong.
Victor says Nate is ambitious and ruthless.
Devon says Victor misunderstood Nate’s intentions. Nate told him that he was doing what he thought was right to protect Victor and the company.
Victor says it was a lie. The moment Nate noticed weakness in him, he jumped into action.
Devon asks Victor if his family was concerned about his mental state as well. Wasn’t it difficult to put them through that?
Victor laughs and asks why it would be difficult. He’d do anything to protect his family and company! He warns Devon not to trust Nate, even though he’s family.
Nikki lies in bed, dreaming of finding the vodka bottle when she was locked up at the Lake House. Her phone rings, the call coming from an unknown number. She picks it up.
Burlesque music plays in Nikki’s ear. She asks who’s calling, but there’s no answer. The caller hangs up.
The Oregon PD
Claire tells Victoria and Cole that Jordan had told her she was lucky that her aunt had taken her in since her parents didn’t want her. She says Jordan nurtured her resentment and pain until it was her only reality. She was an abandoned child whose only love was given to her by her aunt.
Claire says she asked herself what could make her parents hate her so much that they’d never want to see her again and pretend she didn’t exist. She was homeschooled until she was a teenager because Jordan didn’t want her around other children who had mothers and fathers, and her first experience with a “real” school was a very strict all-girls prep school.
Claire continues to tell her story. Jordan told her never to tell anyone the truth about her family, or she’d be ridiculed, so Jordan convinced her to adopt an alternative story.
Cole asks if it was a story that Jordan made up.
Claire nods. She says Jordan told her to tell everyone her parents were killed in a car accident. She was consumed by bitterness about Victoria and Cole.
Victoria asks if Claire questioned any of the story that Jordan told her.
Claire shakes her head. She didn’t see any proof. Maybe she didn’t want to know the truth.
Cole asks if Claire has changed her mind; is she questioning the validity of Jordan’s story?
Claire says she can’t just let go of it that quickly. It’s all she’s ever had.
Cole nods. He says his mother suffered from mental illness, and it’s difficult when you have only one parent, and they aren’t telling you the truth.
Claire asks why Jordan would make up a story like that. She can’t believe that Jordan would wait a lifetime and poison a child’s mind, training her to believe an evil lie.
Victoria says Claire needs to find out some answers; to find out who she is and know what happened. She thinks it’s past time that Claire finds out the truth, and asks if she would agree to a DNA test so they’d have concrete proof, one way or another.
Claire says she wants to know whether Cole and Victoria are her parents. She agrees to a DNA test, but only if they help her.
The Newman House
Nikki enters the room and says hello to Devon and Victor.
Victor says that Devon is there to find out about Nate. He says that Nate is looking to go back to Chancellor-Winters.
Nikki thinks that’s interesting. She hopes Victor told Devon that Nate is a “snake.”
Devon says Victor told him just that. He thanks them for their honesty.
Nikki says she can understand family ties can make things complicated. She warns him to stay away from Nate Hastings.
Devon says he’ll keep it in mind. He thanks them again and leaves.
Victor asks Nikki if she’s alright. She looks upset.
Nikki says she took a nap but couldn’t sleep; she couldn’t get past her memories.
Daniel’s Apartment
Daniel tells Lily he asked Lucy to come by and check out her new bedroom to see if she wanted any changes, and she fell in love with it and wanted to move in right away.
Lily thinks that’s great… How could he say no to that?
Daniel says Lucy makes his house feel like a home. Everything is falling into place! Heather told him she had good meetings with the Chancellor-Winters legal team. He thanks Lily for making that happen.
Lily says she’s happy to help.
Daniel doesn’t believe her. He says she doesn’t seem happy. Is something wrong?
The GCAC Dining Room
Nate shakes his head. He can’t believe Audra thinks he was looking out for himself and not thinking about Victor’s health.
Audra says she’s not condemning his actions. She probably would have done the same thing in his place.
Nate says he wasn’t playing a game. He was acting as a doctor because Victor needed help!
Audra says she gets it, but what’s done is done. What matters is what they do moving forward. He’s probably not going to get a good recommendation from Victor, so his chances of returning to Chancellor-Winters are slim. If he does get hired, the first mistake he makes will cause him to be fired.
Nate says they’re family, and that may count for a whole lot.
Audra says that’s wishful thinking. She says it’s time for him to join her. He’ll be admired, listened to, and respected.
Nate thinks it’s tempting, but everything Audra says is tempting. He says if Devon and Lily don’t value family as much as he does, he’ll come over to Audra’s side.
Daniel’s Apartment
Daniel asks Lily what’s wrong.
Lily says nothing’s wrong; it’s just been a trying day. She had a tense conversation with Nate.
Daniel says he thought things were going well between them since Thanksgiving.
Lily shrugs. She’s not sure that Nate has changed, and he was a “pompous ass” to her at Society.
Daniel asks what she’s going to do.
Lily isn’t sure. She doesn’t want to let Mamie down, but she’s also not sure whether she wants to work with Nate. She says Devon is figuring things out, and they’ll make a decision one way or another.
Daniel says she’ll make the right decision.
Lily asks if he’d like to go for coffee.
Daniel likes that idea. They kiss.
Heather walks in and says Lucy has a question about her room… Daniel needs to approve something.
Daniel excuses himself and goes to Lucy’s room.
Heather tells Lily that she hopes she’s not feeling put out because Lucy wanted to move in early.
Lily says she’s happy Lucy is there.
Heather says Lily shouldn’t worry about her, either. She’s going to try to stay out of everyone’s way and not step on any toes.
The Oregon PD
Cole tells Claire he’s not sure what they can do to help; the charges against her are very serious.
Claire says she’s spent years following up on the Newman family. She knows they’re rich and powerful and can fix anything.
Victoria shakes her head. It doesn’t work like that, but she’ll do what she can.
Claire asks if they’ll help, no matter what the results of the test are.
Victoria nods and asks when Claire’s arraignment hearing is.
Claire says she doesn’t have a lawyer yet, so she doesn’t know. She was waiting to hear from her aunt and didn’t think that she’d just leave her in jail.
Victoria says Jordan is in more legal trouble than Claire is, so she shouldn’t count on her coming to her rescue.
Claire says she’s been abandoned by the only parent she’s ever known.
Cole says he’ll look into arranging a good lawyer for Claire, and hopefully she’ll be able to make bail.
Claire thanks him.
Cole says there’s something they need to do for them first.
Victoria says they need the DNA test.
The Newman House
Victor tells Nikki he’s headed to the kitchen; does she want anything?
Nikki asks for some tea.
Victor hugs her and tells her he’ll get it for her. He leaves the room.
Nikki furtively heads over to the booze table and pours herself a shot of vodka. She shoots it back quickly, keeping an eye on the doorway to the kitchen.
