Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Ashley took Billy’s bait, Devon remembered Katherine’s advice about Tucker, and Summer was crushed as Sharon and Chance shared romance.
Crimson Lights
Sally and Chloe are talking over coffee.
Sally asks Chloe why she’s not excited about Victor’s offer.
Chloe says it’s Victor Newman they’re talking about; she’s been around the block and knows what Victor is all about.
Sally says he’s offered them a contract to head up a new design division at Newman Enterprises. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Chloe wonders why Sally thinks taking Victor up on the offer is a no-brainer since Sally didn’t take Nick up on his no-strings-attached offer.
Sally says they’ve already talked about it… Her relationship with Nick is too important to risk over money, but the deal with Victor is clean.
Chloe says nothing about Victor is clean. She says they already have a job with Chancellor-Winters… Is Sally willing to throw that away?
Sally says Chancellor-Winters is a freelance job; this is big-time.
Chloe thinks Newman Enterprises is a recipe for disaster.
She thinks that Sally just wants to prove something to the Newmans.
Sally says it’s a great career move for both of them.
Chloe says Victor just wants to control Sally, and if she goes along with it, Victor will be controlling her too. She says she won’t get involved with Victor and let him “grind her into the ground”.
Sally thinks they could make it work and it could be a huge win.
Chloe says she doesn’t want any part of it, so Sally can count her out. She stalks out of the cafe.
Newman Enterprises
Nate finishes looking through a report and tells Nikki that it’s not just great, it’s brilliant.
Nikki wonders why Nate is laughing if it’s so brilliant.
Nate says he was thinking about the meeting they had.
In the meeting, the two men saw Nikki and Victoria and thought they could bully them into buying what they had to sell, but Nikki had them eating out of her hand in a few minutes, begging her to do business with them. Nate says he’s inspired and can learn a lot from Nikki.
Nikki tells him to stop. Gushing isn’t a good look on him, and his flattery makes her suspicious.
Nate apologizes… He never meant to offend Nikki.
Nikki says she’s not offended, but she’s not a pushover, either. She’s protective of the business and wants to talk to him one-on-one.
Nikki warns Nate that if he has any self-serving interests, Newman has survived without him and suggests they meet at the Athletic Club, where Nate can tell Nikki how he sees his future at Newman playing out.
Phyllis’s GCAC Suite
Adam drops by Phyllis’ room and asks if Tucker’s holding Carson’s testimony over Phyllis’s head.
Phyllis stays quiet, but her face says everything.
Adam says that he’ll try to help Phyllis stay out of prison because he needs her to run the IT department at McCall-Kirsten.
Phyllis says she’ll prove her worth to Adam.
Adam sits down and says that he’s found something in the McCall paperwork that Phyllis can hold over Tucker’s head.
Phyllis asks him what he has… It’s got to be big.
Adam says it’s big and intimidating. He says that while Tucker was running the company, one of their major artists slept with underaged girls, and the PR department kept it under wraps until the tour was over, when the artist was arrested.
Phyllis gets it. She says, “You don’t want statutory rape screwing up your lucrative tour.”
Adam says that Tucker didn’t find out until afterward, and he had his team work hard to bury the whole thing.
Phyllis says it’s despicable. She asks how Adam found out.
Adam says he found an email exchange between Audra and Tucker in the Junk folder. Tucker and Audra had decided the best way forward was to fire the PR team, which would leave them with their hands clean.
Phyllis can’t believe that Tucker and Audra were involved with such a cover-up.
Phyllis thinks this is the leverage she needs. She’s over the moon that Adam is helping her like this. She says it means a lot to her.
Adam says he can use the Audra Charles connection when the time is right, and he wants to work with the best there is… Phyllis.
Phyllis can’t wait to see Tucker’s face when she uses this information. She picks up her cell phone.
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Nate blah-blahs for a minute until Nikki interrupts him. She says she’s not there to listen to him blow smoke but to get an honest answer about how he sees things playing out for him at Newman.
Nate hems and haws and says he’d love to run Newman side-by-side with Victoria. He says that Nikki is doing a hell of a job, but he wants to be transparent with her.
Nate loves what the company represents and says that even though Nick doesn’t trust him, he thinks he can help Newman achieve great heights with Victoria.
Nikki asks Nate if he’s in love with Victoria.
Nate says he and Victoria have a rare understanding and chemistry built on a foundation of friendship.
Nate continues that neither he nor Victoria are focused on romance, and they don’t want to put a label on things right now. He can see himself falling in love with Victoria in the future, but he’s not in love with her right now.
Elena stands at the bar, listening as Nate and Nikki talk.
Nikki says that maybe Nate could bring a lot to the table for Newman, but he’s put himself in a situation that will bring him constant scrutiny.
Nikki warns Nate that if he brings Victoria any pain, he’ll be jobless within minutes, and all his ego and ambition will have gotten him nowhere.
Elena smiles as she overhears Nikki’s threats.
Nikki excuses herself to take a phone call and leaves the restaurant.
Nate gets up, walks over to Elena, and asks how she is.
Elena asks Nate to stop trying to be civil with her.
Nate says he’s sorry but he wanted to coexist peacefully with her.
Elena says she overheard that Nate wants to fall in love with Victoria. Maybe she should tell Nikki all about Nate’s definition of love, which involves manipulation and trickery.
Elena warns Nate that she could introduce Nikki to Devon or Lily, as they’d happily tell her all about Nate. She says Nate’s games will backfire and burn him to the ground, and maybe she’ll be the one to light the fire.
Nate asks if she’s finished.
Elena stands up and says that was a warning… Elena wants Nate to stay away from her. She walks past Nikki as she leaves.
Nikki looks at Nate and says that Elena’s another of Nate’s exes who’s been reduced to a pile of rubble in his wake. Is that what Victoria has to look forward to?

Chancellor Park
Adam walks into the park and sees Sally sitting on a park bench. He asks how Sally is.
Sally tells Adam that Chloe refuses to work with Victor and is convinced that Victor has ulterior motives.
Adam thinks that Chloe is a shrewd judge of character, and Victor does always have an ulterior motive.
Adam tells Sally she can get a job on her own merit. He says he’d never insult Sally’s talent, and he’s happy to see her get her fire back. He asks what Nick thinks about this.
Sally is surprised that Adam cares what Nick thinks.
Adam says he only cares about how it would affect Sally.
Sally tells Adam that Nick thinks she needs to be careful. She hasn’t had a chance to speak to Nick yet, since he’s gone overseas to work on the merger.
Adam says it’s a hell of a time for Sally to be alone.
Sally says she misses Nick, but she’s been throwing herself into her work, which allows her to have some control over her life and distracts her from the loss of the baby.
She asks if work does the same thing for Adam.
Adam says work is a distraction, but he feels empty sometimes.
Sally tears up and says she went to a doctor for a check-up, and afterward, she went home, cleaned out her drawers, and donated all her maternity and baby clothes.
Adam says he doesn’t want to talk about the baby right now.
Sally says he’s trying to shut her down, even though he asked her to talk.
Adam says he’s not shutting her down. He’s happy she’s starting to heal, but he’s having a hard time with it.
Sally says she’s sorry. She takes his hand and says he knows where to find her whenever he’s ready to talk about it.
Society
Phyllis walks into the restaurant and sees Christine there. She says, “Oh yay, Cricket! As if my day couldn’t get any better!”
Christine says that it’s nice to see Phyllis out enjoying her short-lived freedom.
Phyllis tells Christine that she shouldn’t be so happy… Phyllis is going to beat the charges against her.
Christine says it won’t come true just because Phyllis keeps saying it. She says Phyllis is selfish to drag Summer into her problems.
Phyllis tells Christine that she’d better not bring Summer into the trial just to satisfy her vendetta against Phyllis.
Christine says that Summer committed a felony, and she’s doing her job… She is the District Attorney, after all.
Phyllis says she faked her death and came back to town, and Summer may have made some bad judgment calls, but it was to protect Summer’s mother.
Christine tells Phyllis that she can help Summer by accepting a deal. She proposes that Phyllis drops her not-guilty plea, accepts her sentence, and waives her appeals.
Phyllis asks what would happen if she did that.
Christine says she might be persuaded to drop the charges against Summer if Phyllis agreed to the deal.
Tucker walks up to Phyllis and Christine.
Christine greets Tucker curtly and tells Phyllis to talk to Heather and get back to her about it. She leaves the restaurant.
Tucker asks what the meeting was about.
Phyllis says it’s nothing she can’t handle.
Tucker orders a couple of drinks for Phyllis and himself… Scotch, neat.
He asks what Phyllis wants to talk about.
Phyllis says she wants to talk about Carson missing in action.
Tucker says Carson will be missing as long as Tucker wants him to be missing unless Phyllis has a counteroffer that won’t bore him.
Phyllis says she does have a counteroffer that won’t bore him. She says if Tucker accepts her offer, he’ll produce Carson, and Heather and Phyllis will put Carson in their own protective custody.
Tucker asks what he gets out of the deal.
Phyllis says she’ll keep her mouth shut about a certain recording label that decided to protect their star recording artist during a lucrative tour by covering up his statutory rape of several underage girls.
Tucker says he’s not familiar with what she’s talking about.
Phyllis tells him that she’s seen the emails between him and Audra. She quotes, “Singer problem remedied. Hands clean.”
Phyllis smiles and clinks her glass against Tuckers while he glowers at her.
Newman Enterprises
Nikki and Nate walk into the offices, and Nate says he’s glad they had lunch and glad that Nikki asked him about his plans for Victoria… It helped him clarify what he wanted for himself.
Nikki says that Nate’s run-in with Elena didn’t inspire confidence.
Nate says he’s sorry she had to see that. He says the relationship he has with Victoria is much deeper and what they’re building is much more significant than what he had with Elena.
Nikki says actions speak louder than words, and Victoria deserves a solid, transparent relationship.
Nikki tells Nate that if he’s the man for Victoria and he can be there for Johnny and Katie as well as Victoria, then Nikki is his new best friend.
Nate says that’s the plan.
Nikki says that if Victoria is Nate’s “next Amanda or Elena”… Nikki will be Nate’s worst nightmare.
Crimson Lights
Sally looks upset. She texts Nick. “Miss you. Please hurry back.”
