Today’s Young and the Restless recap airs in the USA on Thursday, October 26, 2023, and airs one day ahead in Canada. We post our Y&R recaps every weekday!
Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Ashley returned from Paris, Christine’s told Danny that her marriage to Paul is over, and Victor confessed his plan to Nick.
Crimson Lights
Nick enters the cafe and says hello to Sharon.
Sharon invites him to sit and asks if he talked to Victor. She sees the look on Nick’s face and asks if Victor’s gotten worse.
Nick shakes his head. Nope. Victor’s fine; he’s been playing them all!
The Newman Ranch House
Nikki tells Victor she’s relieved that Nick knows the truth.
Victor says he wanted to tell him in his own time.
Nikki says Nick figured it out already, and now he has to tell Victoria he’s of sound mind.
Victor says he won’t yet. He needs to find out who’s disloyal.
Nikki says they already know who the disloyal one is… It’s Adam! Victoria would never betray him… Why is Victor torturing her?
Victor says he only trusts Nikki and Nicholas right now.
Nate’s Apartment
Nate and Victoria are in bed talking. Nate asks what is on Victoria’s mind.
Victoria says she can’t stop thinking about Adam using his father’s illness against him.
Nate thought they agreed not to talk about that for the rest of the night.
Victoria nods. She hates having to worry about Adam because her father won’t let him go, even at the risk of his own health.
Nate says Victoria’s forgetting that Adam works for him. He’s in a position of power over Adam and watching every move he makes.
If Adam does anything to exploit Victor’s problems, Nate will be aware of it and will make sure Victor is, too.
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Sally sits at the bar sipping a martini. She recalls Nick breaking up with her because she can’t get over Adam. A voice breaks her reverie. “Sally?”
It’s Adam. He says things are over between her and Nick and he’s sorry that he’s ruined something good for her… Again. He goes to leave the dining room.
Sally stops him and asks him not to leave.
Crimson Lights
Nick tells Sharon that Victor was setting a trap to see which of his children would exploit his “weakness.”
Sharon can’t believe that Victor would pretend to be losing his mind. She’s not surprised, but that’s an awful thing for someone to do to their family.
Nick says it’s not the first time… Victor got Ashland to sign over his company to him while he was having a heart attack. It’s a page right out of the Victor Newman playbook.
Sharon says Nick hasn’t done anything to make Victor doubt his loyalty.
Nick says he hasn’t, and neither has Victoria. They were concerned, and now he feels like a fool. He thinks that Victor’s target is Adam, but he doesn’t get it… Victor had already fired Adam, so why would he bring him back just to prove that he was a traitor?
Sharon says Victor has always had a soft spot for Adam.
Nick can’t figure out why. Adam is a power-hungry narcissist!
Sharon says guilt makes people do some strange things.
Nick says he’s had enough. Victor’s given Adam too many chances already.
The GCAC Dining Room
Sally tells Adam it’s not entirely over between her and Nick. There’s no finality yet since Nick won’t discuss it with her. Adam was responsible for some of it, but so was Sally. She says Adam was honest with her about where his heart was, but she didn’t want to hear it.
Adam nods. It wouldn’t be the first time he didn’t read the room.
Sally says the kiss confused them both.
Adam shrugs. He says he bulldozed his way through her defenses when what she really wanted was Nick, and she had a right to be resistant to him.
Adam mopes that he poisons everything he touches. He continues to talk down about himself for a bit and says he manages to screw it up for himself, Sally, and now his father.
Sally asks what happened with Victor.
Adam says it’s just more of the same… Family stuff.
Sally says it’s obviously upsetting him.
Adam says he thinks he’s finally driven his father over the edge.
The Newman Ranch House
Nikki tells Victor that Victoria was terrified that something terrible was happening to her father… She can’t fake that!
Victor says if that’s true, she has nothing to worry about.
Nikki can’t believe it.
Victor says he demoted Victoria; she’s got plenty of motive.
Nikki says Victoria is his daughter, and she’s proven her loyalty to him time and time again. She doesn’t understand why Victor is putting her at the same level as Adam.
Victor says he’s aware of what Adam is capable of… Not so much Victoria.
Nikki begs him to tell Victoria the truth and to put Adam back where he belongs… On the outside, looking in!
Nate’s Apartment
Victoria thanks Nate for his support. She feels like she’s being pulled in a million different directions, and it’s helpful to have someone like Nate on her side. She’s worried about her father… Something’s wrong with him.
Nate says they don’t know what’s happening yet.
Victoria says they know he’s not himself, and if it’s something more serious, they need to get him the care he needs.
Nate agrees.
Victoria says she has to be practical about the business as well… If news got out, it could affect the business’s day-to-day operations.
Nate asks where they should start.
Victoria says they need to arrange for Victor to see a specialist first thing in the morning. She sees the look on Nate’s face and asks why he looks like it won’t work.
Nate says he’d do the same if it were his family going through something similar, but this is Victor Newman, a titan of the industry! If Victoria tells him he needs treatment, he won’t fall in line quietly.
Victoria asks what she’s supposed to do, then… Nothing?
Nate says the trick isn’t coming up with a plan… The trick is to get Victor to go along with it.
Crimson Lights
Sharon tells Nick it always comes back to Adam.
Nick says Adam’s the common denominator in every crisis the Newman family has gone through ever since Adam showed up, and Victor loves him. Adam makes Nick’s blood boil whenever he has to deal with him.
Sharon says Nick should look at it from Victor’s point of view… Maybe Victor thought Adam was sincere when he promised to change and wanted to give him another chance.
Nick says if that were the case, Victor would have already figured out what he wants to know. He can’t figure out why Victor would continue with his game. It doesn’t make sense.
Sharon looks thoughtful and wonders if Adam might not be Victor’s target. He already suspects Adam, and Nick’s in the clear… That leaves Victoria.
Nick shakes his head. No way.
Sharon asks Nick to consider the possibility that Victor doubts Victoria’s loyalty and he’s just waiting for her to make a move.
The GCAC Dining Room
Sally asks Adam what’s going on with Victor.
Adam says Victor’s been acting erratically. Victoria pointed it out, but Adam didn’t believe her at first. He figured Victoria was trying to get their father declared incompetent so she could get her old job back, but then Adam started to notice things.
Sally asks what things he noticed.
Adam tells Sally about Victor’s memory problems and how he was acting strange. He tells her he found a weird snake drawing in Victor’s drawer.
Sally asks how Adam thinks he’s responsible for Victor’s mental problems.
Adam says it all goes back to when he was pushed out of Newman.
Sally says that sounds like a leap of logic.
Adam says he had been letting Victor down over the years, even though he was given multiple opportunities… This last time probably pushed him over the edge.
Sally says that Adam did change. He asked to start at the bottom, and Victor gave him that chance. She doesn’t see the connection.
Adam figures Victor saw right through him to the truth. It was all bogus, a scam to get him what he thought was his just rewards and to punish the people who hurt him. He thinks Victor figured it out, and it gutted him.
Sally is incredulous. She says that Adam lied to everyone, including her. There was never any catharsis, never any redemption.
Adam shakes his head. Nope, he just wanted revenge, pure and simple.
Sally can’t believe it… He fooled her.
Adam says he’s sorry about that, but all he could think about was punishing Nick, Victor, and Victoria. He figured the best way to do it was from the inside and pretending that he “saw the light.”
Sally says she was just collateral damage.
Adam says if he’d told her what he had planned, she’d have tried to talk him out of it. He wanted to destroy all of them. When he gets hurt, all logic and compassion in his brain gets shut off, and all that’s left is blind rage.
Sally says she’s sorry for him.
Adam says he got the revenge he wanted by pushing his father off the deep end, but he feels sick about it.

Nate’s Apartment
Nate asks if Victoria’s still thinking about her father.
Victoria says she wasn’t. She was imagining what it would be like to be born into a “normal” family.
Nate laughs and asks if there is such a thing as a normal family.
Victoria says there has to be.
Nate asks if she’s thinking about a TV version… White picket fence, mom stays at home with the kids, and the dad goes to work.
Victoria says in her version of it the mother works too.
Nate laughs. “Obviously.”
Victoria says they wouldn’t have a family business. It’d be something simple. The day wouldn’t start with overnight markets and end with a bottle of wine. People would just go to work and be able to do something worthwhile.
Nate asks if that’s what Victoria wants.
Victoria says she doesn’t, but she wishes Victor could just be her dad sometimes. She doesn’t want him to be a business partner. She wants to talk to him about anything other than Newman Enterprises without him worrying she’s trying to push him off his throne.
Nate asks if Victoria wants to replace Victor eventually… She’s spent her whole life being groomed for that.
Victoria says she does, but Victor pulls the rug out from under her every time she gets close. Sometimes, it feels like they’re the royal family waiting for the king to die so they can fight over his crown.
Victoria doesn’t want her dad to die; sometimes, she’s not sure she wants the crown.
Crimson Lights
Sharon tells Nick she knows he feels protective toward Victoria.
Nick says it’s not about him being protective… He knows his sister, and she wouldn’t exploit their father’s illness. She wouldn’t betray him like that.
Sharon says Nick may know it, but he’s not Victor. Who knows what goes through Victor’s mind? He told Nick the truth, but he didn’t tell Victoria.
Nick says he forced Victor to tell him.
Sharon says it’s clear that Victor doesn’t completely trust Victoria.
Nick says that Victor said he won’t tell Victoria because she may tell Nate. His father doesn’t trust Nate, and neither does Nick.
Sharon says it’s starting to sound paranoid.
Nick says Victoria is really worried about Victor, but he’s setting her up for a fall. Why did he ever agree to go back to the family business?
Sharon says Nick went back because he thought they needed him and he could help.
Nick figures he should be focusing on their business together; it’s far less aggravating.
Sharon says they’re still getting things done and haven’t fallen behind.
Nick says Victor’s disappointment in Adam is filtering down to the rest of them. He has no idea how it’s going to play out.
The Newman Ranch House
Victor tells Nikki he doesn’t want to see the worst in his children.
Nikki says they’re talking about Victoria, specifically.
Victor says he’s aware of her qualities. There’s one last part of the plan he needs to put into play.
Nikki sighs and asks what the next step is.
Victor tells her she’ll see. Details aren’t necessary, and he doesn’t want to put Nikki into another compromising position.
Nikki asks if he’s afraid she’ll spill the beans again like she did with Nicholas. She says Victor still resents her for telling Nick the truth.
Victor says he doesn’t resent her.
Nikki tells him to tell her his plan… Unless he was lying when he said he trusted her.
Victor says he trusts her, but he has to do it his own way… The stakes are too high.
Nikki says doing things his way has caused everyone around him to be sad, angry, or both. She says Victor doesn’t want to be wrong; it’s as simple as that. She says it won’t end well and stomps out of the room.
Crimson Lights
Nick tells Sharon that he must tell Victoria the truth about their father.
Sharon says normally she’d agree, but she’s worried by how much Victoria idolizes her father.
Nick says he doesn’t think Victoria is idolizing Victor right now.
Sharon says it goes deeper than that… Victor’s been Victoria’s mentor for most of her life. She wonders if Victor is holding out because of Nate.
Nick says Victor doesn’t trust Victoria right now.
Sharon says if Victoria finds out Victor is trying to trap her, it could destroy their relationship forever.
Nick says if his relationship with his daughter falters, it’s Victor’s fault. He made his bed, and he’ll have to sleep in it. He doesn’t have a choice but to tell Victoria.
The GCAC Dining Room
Sally tells Adam he’s a mystery. He says he regrets his part in whatever’s going on with Victor, but she knows his history, and he’s had other regrets and broken promises.
Adam figures Sally doesn’t believe anything he’s saying.
Sally says she wants to believe him, but a part of her wonders if Adam is just trying to gain her sympathy. She doesn’t want to think that way, but she can’t push the thoughts aside.
Adam says he gets it; he’s earned her distrust. He was hoping that if anyone could give him the benefit of the doubt, it’d be her. He says Sally is the only person that he can count on.
Sally says he’s putting her on the spot.
Adam swears it’s real this time.
Sally sighs. “Okay. I believe you.”
Adam asks if it’s a leap of faith or if it’s coming from her heart.
Sally says it’s a bit of both.
Adam asks what changed her mind.
Sally says she can see fear, compassion, and guilt in his eyes. She’s decided to trust him one more time.
Adam says that means a lot to him.
Sally says that if he told Victor what he just told her, Victor would believe him, too.
Adam thinks it’s too late for that… Victor doesn’t want to deal with what’s going on with him, so how will an apology from Adam change anything?
Sally asks what Adam can do otherwise.
Adam says he reached out to a psychiatrist and told him how Victor was acting, and the doctor agreed it was serious… But how does he get him to talk to him without Victor realizing what’s going on?
Sally says that’s a risky move.
Adam says it could backfire, but he will have to follow through with it. He doesn’t know what else to do.
Sally says she thought of another option… Adam could talk to his family about it. Get together with Nick and Victoria and face it together. Victor’s three children as one united front.
Adam says he tried talking with Nick, but he didn’t want to work together. Victoria? Pfft, they can barely stand being in the same room together.
Sally tells him he has to try harder. Let them know they need to work together as a team for their father’s welfare.
Adam says Sally’s good at pep talks. He’s sure she’ll be an inspiring boss when she gets her new company off the ground… She’s inspiring him!
Sally thanks him and asks if he will talk to Nick and Victoria.
Adam hems, haws, and says that Nick doesn’t want anything to do with him because of Sally.
Sally says Nick would listen if he arranged a meeting and told them it was about their father’s health. They can hate each other after, but in the meantime, they have to work together for their father’s sake.
Crimson Lights
Nick thanks Sharon for listening to him so patiently.
Sharon says Nick’s been there for her more than a few times.
Nick says that’s how it is with old friends.
Sharon says it’s nice that they can be there for each other after all these years.
Nick agrees.
Sharon asks if Nick is going to call Victoria.
Nate’s Apartment
Nate tells Victoria she could stay at his place.
Victoria says she has a big day tomorrow, or she would. Her phone rings. It’s Nick, and she answers, asking if everything’s okay.
Nick says everything is not okay.
Victoria is worried. Is it Dad?
Nick says their father is fine, but he needs to talk to her about him.
Victoria says she convinced Victor to talk to someone about his problems.
Nick says he needs to talk to her, but they need to talk face-to-face. He says they could meet tonight, tomorrow, or whenever she wants.
Victoria says she can meet him now.
Nick says he’ll meet her at Society and ends the call.
Victoria tells Nate that she’s going to meet Nick.
Nate asks if it’s about Victor.
Victoria isn’t sure. She says it must be urgent because he didn’t want to talk over the phone.
Nate tells her to keep him posted and reminds her to call him if she needs anything, no matter what time it is.
Victoria smiles and kisses him before leaving his apartment.
The GCAC
In the lobby, Adam thanks Sally for the good advice and for listening to him. He’s floundering, and making amends isn’t what Adam Newman is all about.
Sally says that’s the old Adam. The new Adam is figuring things out, and he’s making some good progress. She hugs him.
Adam hugs her back and says goodnight.
Sally heads upstairs, and Adam leaves the club.
Sally looks back as Adam leaves, looking thoughtful.
Society
Victoria strides into the restaurant and asks Nick what he wants to discuss.
Nick tells her to sit down.
Victoria tells him to stop with all the mystery and just let her know what’s happening… If their father is getting worse, just say it!
Nick says their father is fine. He’s as sane and healthy as ever.
Victoria doesn’t understand.
Nick says Victor was lying. Everything they thought Victor was going through was just a trap to test their loyalty.
Victoria shakes her head. That can’t be! How did Nick figure it out?
Nick says Victor told him after he figured his whole scheme out. Victor’s been playing them!
Nate’s Apartment
Nate’s phone rings, and he answers. It’s Victor.
Victor tells Nate he needs to see him right away. He tells him to come to the ranch and not to tell anyone where he’s going.
Nate agrees but asks if Victor can tell him what’s happening.
Victor says, “They think that I don’t know what’s going on, but I do happen to know what’s going on.”
Nate asks who “they” are.
Victor says he can’t talk about it on the phone. He tells Nate to come over and reiterates that he can’t tell anyone where he’s going… Nate is the only one he trusts.
Nate says he’ll be right over.
