Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Adam & Nick impressed their father with their presentation, Victoria & Cole agreed to help Claire face Jordan, and Ashley probed Tucker’s “gaslighting.”
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Adam and Sally sit down at a table. A bottle is in an ice bucket beside them. Adam says Sally looks gorgeous.
Sally says it’s the same outfit she was wearing when they had lunch.
Adam smiles and says she was gorgeous then, and she’s gorgeous now. Lunch was just lunch, but this is a date. He wanted everything to be perfect.
Sally says it feels perfect to her.
Adam grins, pulls the bottle from the ice bucket, and says they should have a toast with Italy’s finest sparkling water. Sally had said that alcohol was a tipping point for bad behavior, and he’s honoring her wishes.
Sally says Adam thinks of everything.
Adam pours them both a glass and proposes a toast. “To us!” They clink their glasses and drink.
Newman Enterprises
Nick and Victor are talking business. Nick tells his father that Newman Real Ventures looks like it will outperform their expectations.
Victoria walks in and says hello. She figured they’d be working after everyone else left. She thanks Nick for taking over for her while she’s away.
Victor grins at Nick, and Victoria takes that as a sign that Nick has been promoted while she’s taken a leave of absence.
Nick says he has. He says he and Adam were both promoted to co-CEO positions.
Newman Media
Nikki is sitting at her desk, trying to work. She scribbles hastily on a notepad and slams her pen down in frustration.
Nikki grabs her purse and digs through it, pulling out her flask. She stares at it, trying to resist temptation, and finally puts it in her desk drawer.
She gets up and leaves her office.
Newman Enterprises
Victoria can’t believe her ears… Adam is co-CEO?
Victor says he is. His decision has been made, and it’s already proving successful.
Nick says he and Adam are making a real effort. He asks if Victoria is okay with Adam running the company with him.
Victoria says she can’t think of anything but Claire right now. She says Claire is struggling, and it will be a while before she’s healthy, but she and Cole are helping her as much as they can. She says Claire doesn’t want any more contact with them.
Victor thinks it might be for the best.
Victoria says it’s not for the best. Claire is in pain and is ashamed and confused. She doesn’t know who she is! She says Claire needs a favor, and that’s why she’s at the office.
Victor is incredulous… He can’t believe Claire wants a favor after what she did to their family.
Victoria says she needs to borrow the company jet and a security team. She explains that she’s going to take Claire to see Jordan.
Nikki pops her head in and says, “Over my dead body!”
The GCAC Dining Room
Sally and Adam are eating. Sally says the carbonara is the best.
Adam says it’s just like old times… She’s eating off his plate.
Sally says his tastes better. She’s worked up an appetite with her huge success today!
Adam says she’s taking the design world by storm.
Sally congratulates him again on working with Nick and “wowing” Victor. She says Adam has great business skills.
Adam says he may have great business skills, but he doesn’t have great “brother” skills. He says he has to earn Nick’s trust now.
Sally says she wants to see Adam and Nick have a good relationship, and she feels sorry for her part in making it difficult between them.
Adam says his relationship with Nick was fractured a long time before Sally was in the picture, but they need to focus on the present. At the moment, they’re on a date and on top of the world. He asks if Sally would like some dessert; he knows she loves the tiramisu at the club.
Sally says she loves the tiramisu, but she has chocolate truffles in the mini-bar in her room.
Adam grins and says that might get them into trouble. He asks if she’s sure about going up to her room.
Sally nods. She says she’s sure she doesn’t want the evening to end.
A waiter clears their table, and Adam says he’d love to come to her room for truffles, but he’s made assumptions about her feelings in the past and doesn’t want to make those mistakes again.
Sally says they have a lot in common… She doesn’t think they’d be moving too fast.
Adam says he feels like there’s a lot at stake.
Sally agrees. They’ve been through a lot, and they’ve lost so much. There were days she didn’t think she’d ever feel light and happy again, but she feels that way with Adam now, and that’s why she doesn’t want the night to end.
Adam says he doesn’t want it to end, either. He takes her hand.
Newman Enterprises
Nikki tells Victoria that any contact between Jordan and Claire could be dangerous for the Newman family. She asks why Victoria would want to see Jordan again after what she’d done.
Victor agrees with his wife. He doesn’t think it’s wise.
Victoria says she won’t be seeing Jordan. She says Claire agreed to let them help her on the condition that she sees Jordan alone.
Victor can’t believe it, and Nikki agrees. She can’t imagine what Jordan and Claire would concoct if they were to meet.
Victoria says they’ll be supervised by the guards at the prison as well as the Newman’s security detail.
Nikki reminds Victoria that Jordan was able to sneak Claire out of a secure facility. She says Jordan can’t be underestimated.
Victoria says she and Cole have agreed to help Claire so she can get closure. Claire’s therapists have signed off on it, and Michael is arranging all the legalities.
Victor says he’s inclined to refuse Victoria’s request for the jet.
Victoria begs him.
Nick says Victoria wouldn’t ask for something this big unless she believed it was the right thing to do. He says it means a lot to her; they should hear her out.
Victoria says she has concerns, too, but she owes Claire as her mother to help her move on with her life.
Victor says he’s against it… They don’t even know who Claire really is!
Nikki says Jordan should rot in a jail cell for the rest of her life after what she did to their family. She shouldn’t be rewarded for brutalizing them!
Victoria says she’s not trying to reward Jordan for anything; this is about Claire and her recovery. If she doesn’t take this leap of faith with her daughter, she could lose her forever, and she can’t let that happen. She reminds her mom that she laid her life on the line to rescue Claire.
Nikki says she only did it for Victoria.
Victoria says she needs to take the same chance for her daughter, and it’s her chance to have a relationship with Claire. She says she wasn’t there for Claire through her whole life.
Nick says Jordan kidnapped Claire; it’s not Victoria’s fault she wasn’t there for her.
Victoria says she feels guilty about it. She just wants to help her daughter find who she is and regain the life that Jordan robbed her of.
Nikki says Claire wasn’t the only one who was robbed. She tears up.
Victor says Jordan will pay for it.
Victoria says Claire shouldn’t have to pay for it any more than she already has. Victor taught them that family should always come first, and she’s not giving up on her daughter. She begs Victor to help her.
Nikki tells Victor it could be another trap.
Victor sighs. He says he doesn’t trust Claire, and his instincts are telling him, “No.” He says Victoria is Claire’s mother, and he loves his daughter, so he will provide her with the jet and a security team to transport her, Claire, and Cole to Oregon.
Victoria thanks him.
Nikki is horrified at Victor’s decision. She asks him if her feelings don’t matter.
Victor says of course Nikki’s feelings matter. He’s caught between the two of them! What does she want him to do?
Victoria apologizes for causing them both pain, but she can’t deny Claire the right to have a future.
Nikki asks whether Nick thinks it’s a good idea.
Nick says he doesn’t like it, but he supports his sister and will go with her if she wants.
Victoria says Nick doesn’t need to come along.
Nikki says it’s settled then… She’s going to go back to her office. As she leaves, she turns around and tells Victoria she hopes she doesn’t come to regret her decision. She leaves.
Nick looks concerned. He says Nikki seems shaky and asks Victor if she’s okay.
Victor throws up his hands. He says he doesn’t need any more drama; Nikki is fighting for her life, going to AA meetings and meeting with her sponsor. He says he knows their mother… She’s strong, she’ll fight her alcoholism, and she’ll win.
Newman Media
Nikki enters her office and heads straight for the drawer in which she hid her flask earlier.
Nikki takes the flask out, and with shaking hands, undoes the top and takes a long drink.
Victor walks over to Nikki’s office and tries the door, but it’s locked. He knocks and calls out for her, asking if she’s in her office.
Nikki doesn’t say a word. She creeps over to her office door and listens as Victor walks away. She finishes what’s left in her flask.

Crimson Lights
Nate walks into the coffee shop and sees Victoria at the counter. He approaches her, says hello, and asks how her mother is.
Victoria says that Nikki told her she was on the brink of drinking, but Nate pulled her back.
Nate says he’s glad he could help.
Victoria says it was kind of him; her family didn’t treat him well.
Nate says that’s in the past.
Victoria heard that Nate landed on his feet at Chancellor-Winters.
Nate says he’s lucky to be working with his family. He asks whether the rumors are true; did Victoria take a leave of absence from Newman?
Victoria says she has… For personal reasons.
Nate says it must have been a hard choice to make. He’s sorry she’s going through this.
Nate says he’d like to help if he can. If she wants to talk about it, he’s there to listen.
Victoria says her world has been upended, and she doesn’t know how she will get through it. She says she’s always valued his advice.
The GCAC
Adam and Sally are holding hands as they walk through the lobby on the way up to Sally’s room. Nick walks in the front door and sees them together.
Adam tells Nick he was talking with Sally about their victory with Victor and celebrating.
Sally smiles and congratulates Nick on their pitch.
Nick says it went well.
Adam says he hopes this won’t wreck things… They had a great day as co-CEOs.
Nick nods. He says they’re good.
Adam’s happy. He says they’re all a little sensitive after what happened, and he doesn’t want to screw things up.
Nick tells him to just stop.
Sally tells Nick to have a good evening, and he wishes her the same. Sally and Adam head upstairs, and Nick goes to the bar and orders a single malt scotch.
Nikki stumbles in the front door of the club, obviously intoxicated. She almost falls over but catches herself. She sees Nick at the bar with his back turned to her. She hides in the lobby so Nick doesn’t notice her.
Nick’s phone rings, and he answers, leaving the bar and walking past Nikki toward the lounge.
Lauren enters the club and sees Nikki.
Nikki slurs a hello and tells Nikki she wouldn’t believe the meeting she just had with Victor, Nicholas, and Victoria. She complains her thoughts meant nothing to anyone in the meeting. She just wants peace! Why is it so hard to find peace?
Lauren says Nikki’s not going to find peace at the bottom of a bottle.
Nikki can’t believe Lauren would accuse her of drinking.
Lauren knows Nikki better than that.
Nikki says it’s been really hard on her lately.
Lauren says they should get Nikki home; she’ll call Victor.
Nikki says she’s fine… There’s no need to call Victor! She’ll take a taxi.
Lauren says she’ll drive her home.
Nikki says she can’t go home… Victor can’t see her like this.
Lauren says she has an idea.
Crimson Lights
Victoria and Nate sit on the patio, talking over coffee. Victoria says this all has to do with Claire Grace.
Nate asks how Nikki’s assistant fits into it.
Victoria says Claire is her daughter.
Nate is confused. “Excuse me?”
Victoria explains that Claire is her daughter whom she thought had died, but in reality, she’d been kidnapped from the hospital by her great-aunt Jordan, who has a vendetta against the Newmans, especially Nikki. She says Jordan raised Claire to think Victoria and Cole didn’t want her and raised her on lies and hatred.
Nate is shocked that Claire’s return to their lives was planned for years in advance.
Victoria says Claire gained Nikki’s trust as her assistant, lured her away to a remote location, and held her prisoner. She explains that Jordan hooked her up to an IV full of alcohol.
Nate thinks it’s horrific and “pure evil” that Jordan would rob Nikki of her sobriety. He can’t believe that Victoria’s daughter was raised as a weapon toward her. He asks how Claire will come back from it.
Victoria says they managed to get Claire into a hospital instead of prison, and now they’re facing the next big challenge… Claire wants to meet with Jordan. She wants Claire to be able to find peace and be happy but doesn’t want Jordan to hurt Claire again.
Nate says that’s a risk, but he believes Victoria supporting Claire is the right decision. If Claire feels strong enough, she should be allowed to confront Jordan about the abuse and lies. It could help her heal.
Victoria says that’s all she wants. She thanks Nate for his advice. Hearing it from a doctor makes her feel more confident about moving forward with the plan.
Nate says he can’t imagine how stressful this must be for Victoria.
Victoria thanks him. She says she misses their partnership and being able to talk things through with him. She asks if everything that happened destroyed what they had together.
A Suite in the GCAC
Lauren calls for room service to bring a pot of hot coffee to the suite.
Nikki tells her coffee won’t help sober her up.
Lauren offers her a bottle of water and tells her to drink up.
Nikki isn’t interested in the water. She winks at Lauren and says she’s helping by keeping this secret.
Lauren says it’s a secret she doesn’t want to keep.
Nikki promises it’s only the one time.
Lauren says Nikki’s not in a position to make that promise.
Nikki asks if Lauren thinks she’s drunk.
Lauren sits down and says Nikki has an addiction. This is on Jordan, and she’s sorry it happened to her. She says Nikki’s sobriety means everything to her, and she can tell Nikki’s trying hard to get it back.
Nikki laughs and says she’s not trying hard enough. She practically fell through the Athletic Club’s door for everyone to see… Including her son.
Lauren says her family understands. She’s not alone in this!
Nikki asks why she feels so alone sometimes.
There’s a knock at the door. Lauren answers. It’s room service, bringing the coffee she’s ordered. She pours a coffee for Nikki and asks her to humor her by drinking it.
Nikki reluctantly takes a sip of the coffee, making a face as she drinks it. She says Lauren doesn’t need to worry about her; she doesn’t even want another drink! She just wants to sleep this off.
Lauren says Victor is going to worry about her; he’s probably expecting her home by now.
Nikki says Victor can’t leave her alone. He calls her ten or twelve times a day, asking where she is and what she’s doing.
Lauren says it’s because Victor is concerned and loves her.
Nikki’s phone rings. It’s Victor, of course. She won’t answer it because Victor will know she’s drunk. She tells Lauren to answer it instead.
Lauren can’t believe Nikki wants her to lie to Victor.
Nikki says she’ll tell Victor everything after she gets home. She begs Lauren to answer the phone.
Lauren gives in and answers the phone. “Hello, Victor.”
Victor’s confused. Why is Lauren answering Nikki’s phone? He asks where Nikki is… He’s been texting her all day but hasn’t gotten a response.
Lauren says Nikki’s with her. She says she had a fashion emergency at Fenmore’s, and Nikki came to her rescue. She says they’ll probably be working through the night.
Victor asks if Lauren could put Nikki on the phone.
Lauren says Nikki can’t come to the phone right now.
Victor asks if Nikki’s been drinking.
Lauren sighs and says she has.
Victor says he’ll talk to Nikki when she gets home. He asks Lauren to keep an eye on her.
Lauren assures him she will. They end the call and she tells Nikki that Victor sends his love.
Nikki thanks her.
Lauren says this was a one-off… She’ll never lie for Nikki again.
Nikki says she won’t need to. She tells Lauren to go home to Michael.
Lauren says there’s no way she’d leave Nikki alone right now.
Crimson Lights
Nate tells Victoria that he cares for her deeply, but he felt like he was in a relationship with the whole Newman clan, and that was too much for him to handle. He says he couldn’t ask her to walk away from her family, since that was the center of her life.
Victoria thanks him for being honest with her.
Nate smiles and says that’s what friends do… And he is her friend. He’ll listen to her if she needs to talk and will be there to support her if that’s what she needs. He says he needs to get going. He tells her to take care and leaves the coffee shop.
Sally’s GCAC Suite
Sally brings a box of chocolate from the minibar, saying she only has the “less exciting flavors” left.
Adam grins and asks if she was okay seeing Nick earlier.
Sally says it wasn’t her most comfortable moment, but she’s going to have to get used to it; Nick is Adam’s brother and they work together… They’re bound to run into him.
Adam asks if she’s saying their date went so well that they’ll have another one in the future.
Sally says she’s not sure… This one isn’t over yet! She offers Adam a chocolate.
Adam declines and sets the box down. He runs his hand through her hair and they kiss tenderly.
Sally leads him to the bedside, and they kiss and fall onto the bed together.
