Y&R Recap – Fri Jan 12: Claire Takes Control and Confronts Jordan With Victoria & Cole’s Help as Ashley Digs For Truth From Audra and Tucker

Last Episode

Sally, Adam, Nikki, Lauren, and Victoria.

On the last episode of Y&R, Adam & Sally’s date night finished in her room, Lauren rescued Nikki from herself, and Victoria sought a favor from her father.


Tucker’s GCAC Suite

On a call with a reporter, Tucker repeatedly says “No comment” to each query. However, he breaks this pattern when he says it’s fascinating that they’re investigating Audra Charles’s role in the coverup.

Ashley walks into the restaurant and sits down at a table with Audra.

Audra is surprised and intrigued that Ashley wants to meet with her.

Ashley says Audra’s an intelligent woman… She must have an idea why she’d want to see her.

Audra figures it might be because she blew Kyle’s cover to Tucker, but she doubts Ashley wants to talk about Kyle. She thinks Ashley is looking for insight into what Tucker is thinking or planning.

Ashley gets straight to the point and asks if Audra would be willing to betray Tucker, her mentor.

Newman Ranch

Sharon enters the house and greets Victor, who’s sitting at his chess board, pondering his next move.

Victor says hello and asks what she needs.

Sharon Newman smiles at Victor.

Sharon sits down with Victor and says she expected Nikki and Victor to RSVP for the launch party, but their reply must have been lost in the mail.

Victor says he and Nikki have been preoccupied.

Sharon says it gives her a reason to thank him in person for letting her keep Kirsten after the acquisition fell through. She asks if he’ll make it to the launch party that evening.

Victor regrets he won’t be able to make it.

Sharon understands. She assumes it has something to do with “that crazy woman from Oregon” and offers her help if Victor needs anything.

Victor smiles and says he wants her to have a successful launch.

Sharon asks if Victor has any words of wisdom for her.

Victor says she should face any problems she has head-on. He’s about to do the same in his life.


Nikki’s GCAC Suite

Nikki wakes up in bed, fully dressed. She looks around and is startled to see a figure seated with his back to her. “Who are you?”

Seth talks to Nikki Newman.

Seth pours Nikki a glass of water and brings it to her. He says she must have had a tough night. He asks if she remembers how she got there.

Nikki says it’s all a fog.

Seth says time, water, and talking will help clear the alcohol fog from her brain. She’ll remember how she got there; it may take a bit.

Nikki’s not sure she wants to remember. She remembers Lauren helping her get the room.

Seth says Nikki gave Lauren his number. Lauren stayed with her until dawn and then called him to watch over her.

Nikki remembers running into Lauren in the lobby. She was staggering drunk, and anyone could have seen her.

Seth grins at Nikki.

Seth says it’s a good thing Lauren is such a good friend and she was the one who saw Nikki.

Nikki thinks it’s humiliating.

Seth grins and says it’s only humiliating if she lets it. He tells her to have a pity party on her own time and asks her how her hangover is treating her.

Nikki groans and holds her head.

A Prison in Oregon

Claire paces around the visiting room, asking how much longer they have to wait before they see Jordan.

Victoria reassures her that security protocols are in place to ensure Jordan won’t escape, but it takes time.

Cole says that’s a good thing. It gives them time to prepare.

Claire thinks she’s going to be sick. She wants to find a washroom and wants to be alone. She doesn’t want Victoria to see her like this.

Cole asks a guard to escort Claire to the washroom, and the guard points Claire in the right direction.

Claire holds her stomach as Victoria comforts her.

Victoria hopes they didn’t make a mistake by bringing Claire to see Jordan.

Cole tells Victoria he knows she’s worried, but Claire’s therapist thinks this will be good for her.

Victoria is worried. She says Claire is physically ill, and she hasn’t even seen Jordan yet; what’s she going to be like when she sees her?

Cole says they’ll help Claire work through it afterward, and if they can’t help her, they’ll make sure there is someone who can help her through it. He says it’s a normal reaction to facing someone who’s betrayed Claire and is a criminal.

Victoria nods. She hates seeing Claire put herself through this.

Claire is let back into the room by a guard. She says she’s feeling “less terrible” and apologizes for bolting on them. She says she has some last-minute jitters.

Victoria says she doesn’t have to apologize.

Cole says Jordan can’t hurt Claire anymore. Jordan isn’t in control of anything. She’s not in control of her life or herself, and she’s definitely not in control of Claire.

Claire nods.

Victoria says Claire made the decision to see Jordan, but she can call off the meeting if she doesn’t want to see her. Claire is the one with the power here.

Tucker’s GCAC Suite

Tucker tells the journalist that their sources are wrong. He says it’s a mystery to him who the person is whose name was redacted from the documents.

Tucker says the matter cost him more than anyone could ever know. He takes full responsibility for the lapse in judgment and swears it will never happen again. He’s learned from this painful episode and hopes they can all heal. He ends the call and collapses onto the sofa, groaning.

Audra is surprised that Ashley wants to ask her about Tucker.

Ashley says she hopes Audra can help her. She asks why Tucker is gaslighting her about what happened in Paris.

Audra says she never wanted to get in the middle of Ashley and Tucker… He returned from Paris a complete disaster and was hellbent on destruction, but he lost; Ashley and her family won.

Ashley says she’s not talking about Jabot or Glissade. She says she’s talking about what happened in the cafe in Paris; Tucker is lying about it, and she wants to know why.

Audra asks Ashley if she thinks she has any deep insights into Tucker.

Ashley thinks Audra has seen Tucker “without his mask.”

Audra wonders if anyone has ever seen Tucker completely open and honest… Wouldn’t that be Ashley’s territory?

Ashley says it should be but thinks Audra might know Tucker better than anyone.

A Prison in Oregon

Claire tells Victoria that she’s doing this for herself. If she left now, it would mean Jordan wins and has gotten inside her head like she always has. She says that’s what makes her sick and angry.

Victoria says she shouldn’t look at it as winning or losing; she should see it as a chance to heal. They’ll take it one step at a time, and it’ll be on Claire’s schedule, nobody else’s.

A guard comes in and indicates it’s time to meet with Jordan.

Victoria asks if Claire would like either of them to stay with her.

Claire shakes her head. She needs to do this alone.

Cole says it’s best to let Claire meet with Jordan alone. He says seeing himself and Victoria could trigger Jordan and throw off the whole meeting. He tells Claire they’ll be down the hall if she needs them.

Victoria tells Claire to remember that she is in control and can stop the meeting whenever she wants. She leaves the room with Cole, accompanied by the guard.

Claire paces for a minute and tries to shake off the stress. She sits back down and takes a deep breath.

The door opens, and Jordan is let in, dressed in an orange prison outfit.

Jordan says hello to Claire and says it’s been a long time since they’ve seen each other… Did Claire miss her aunt Jordan?


Nikki’s GCAC Suite

Seth brings Nikki a hot cup of tea.

Niki and Seth sit on the couch and talk.

Nikki takes a sip and proclaims it’s her favorite blend… He remembered.

Seth taps his temple and says his mind is like a steel trap; it’s a blessing and a curse.

Nikki thanks him for dropping everything for her.

Seth talks to Nikki.
CBS

Seth says he’s her sponsor; that’s what he’s there for. He looks around the room and says he’s been in much worse places than this as a sponsor.

Nikki tells him not to be so nice. She doesn’t deserve it.

Seth laughs and says he wouldn’t kick her while she’s down… She’s doing enough of that to herself.

Nikki says he sat up all night with her.

Seth shakes his head and says that Mrs. Fenmore was up with her all night. He’s just been listening to her phone buzz with notifications. She’s in demand!

Nikki says she can’t even check her voicemail right now. She says she’s not sure she can get through the next while.

Nikki looks grumpy.

Seth says he’s there to remind her of how she can get through it. He asks how she eats an elephant.

Nikki looks confused.

Seth says you eat it one bite at a time. There’s a knock at the door. Seth says it’s room service; he took the liberty of ordering her a hangover breakfast. They’ll eat and can continue talking when she feels more like herself.

Victor walks in as Seth holds the door.

Nikki says maybe she deserves to feel like she does.

Seth opens the door, and Victor walks in.

Nikki covers her face in shame.

Seth puts on his coat as Victor looks on.

Seth says he’ll take his leave now that Nikki is in safe hands. He tells Nikki to call him if she needs anything. He puts on his coat and leaves.

Victor smiles at Nikki and says Lauren called him, and he couldn’t stay away.

Nikki says she should have told him, but she couldn’t…

Victor hugs and comforts her.

Nikki begins crying, saying she’s ashamed for Victor to see her like this.

Victor tells her it’s not her fault; Jordan poisoned her mind and her body after she’d done so much hard work to regain her sobriety.

Nikki asks what she does now.

Victor says they’ll start over. Her problems are his, and his are hers. They’ll get over it. He hugs her and tells her he loves her.

Nikki cries and says she loves him too.

An Oregon Prison

Jordan tells Claire she can tell she needs Jordan’s arms around her, but they’re not allowed. She says in her mind she has her arms around Claire and will never let her go.

Claire says Jordan looks healthy.

Jordan says she’s a miracle, but they treat her like a criminal. They both know she’s not a criminal, and that’s all that matters.

Claire says Jordan is misunderstood.

Jordan nods. If only they could look into her heart and see her shame and regret for what happened to the Newmans. She couldn’t bear to watch Nikki hurt Claire anymore.

Claire says Nikki never hurt her. Jordan was the one who drugged her and took her from the hospital.

Jordan says she risked her own life to save Claire, and now she’s paying the price for putting Claire first. She has no regrets about any sacrifices she’s made for Claire. She rescued Claire from the hospital because she loves her.

Jordan says they both know she’s not perfect. She’s been unkind, and Claire has suffered, which makes her feel terrible. Their life wasn’t easy, but they had each other.

Claire says she doesn’t want to talk about the past.

Jordan nods. She says she’s not going to survive in prison; she’s not made to be in a place like this. She’s done nothing wrong and is innocent! She says the innocent ones die a thousand deaths every day and says it may be the last time they ever see each other unless they can help each other.

Audra tells Ashley that Tucker is infuriating and believes the world revolves around him. He plays endless power games and loves a good scheme, but nobody has accused him of gaslighting them before.

Audra leans in and talks to Ashley.

Ashley figures Tucker might be trying something new.

Audra doesn’t think so. She says Tucker said Ashley was the one exaggerating about what happened in Paris. She’s known Tucker for a long time, and he can get furious and say some biting insults, but she’s never seen him get physically violent; it’s not his style.

Ashley says Audra believes Tucker’s version of events, but she was there and knows what happened. She says Tucker is lying about it.

Audra asks why he’d do that… Does he want Ashley to admit she’s misremembering things so they can be less antagonistic toward each other?

Ashley throws down her napkin. “Like hell.”

Audra says Ashley wouldn’t be acting like this if she didn’t still have feelings for Tucker.

Ashley asks why Audra cares how she feels about Tucker.

Audra says she cares about things that impact her life, and Ashley has impacted it a lot lately… Or at least Tucker’s fixation with Ashley has.

Ashley asks what Audra’s “situation” with Tucker is.

Audra says it’s hard to describe. It’s a love/hate relationship. Tucker is supportive and has gotten her out of some tough situations, but he can be a pain in the ass and make her life miserable, too.

Ashley asks why Audra agreed to meet with her.

Audra says Tucker may deny it but wants to be with Ashley. Audra wanted to see if Tucker had a shot with her.

Ashley says he doesn’t have a shot with her after what happened in Paris.

Audra asks Ashley if she’s sure things happened as she says they did in Paris.

Ashley thanks Audra for the chat and abruptly gets up and leaves the restaurant.

An Oregon Prison

Jordan tells Claire that the Newmans are using their power, money, and connections against her, just like they did to Eve, Claire’s grandmother. She says their retaliations and resentments run deep.

Claire says the Newmans have been supportive of her. Nikki saved her life in the cabin when Jordan was going to kill them!

Jordan points at her and says that’s the Newman lies. They smile at you while they stab you in the back and are trying to turn Claire against her aunt. The Newmans are trying to make Claire think right is wrong and black is white!

Claire says the so-called “monsters” are trying to help her and ensure her safety.

Jordan asks what they’re keeping her safe from. Are they keeping Claire safe from Jordan? She thinks the Newmans must be there with Claire, spying and lurking in the shadows. She knows how they can use that to their advantage!

Claire says that’s what Jordan does… She uses people. She used Claire and will use people around her to get what she wants. She takes people’s confidence and hope and leaves them with nothing.

Jordan says it’s not true; how can Claire even say that?

Claire says she lived it every day of her life, and she won’t let Jordan use her again.

Jordan says they’ve turned Claire against her. Claire has abandoned her aunt the way her parents abandoned her… That’s what they do! She says the Newmans eat their young, and Claire will learn that eventually.

Claire says the Newmans can’t abandon her because she’s the one who’s walking away.

Jordan laughs and asks if the Newmans bought her off.

Claire says the Newmans don’t want her to go. They say she belongs with them and she’s their daughter.

Jordan says they want her to have a “fairytale life” with them.

Claire says she can’t have a fairytale life or happiness… Jordan took that away from her when she stole her away from her family. She can’t stand to see the sadness in her parent’s eyes when they look at her. She can see how much they lost when Jordan took her from them.

Claire talks to Jordan.

Jordan says she saved Claire and made her what she is.

Claire says that’s the problem; Jordan turned her into someone who can’t trust anyone and can’t believe she deserves anything good in life.

Jordan asks what Claire is visiting her for… What does she want?

Claire says she’s there to tell Jordan face-to-face that she knows who she really is. Jordan is the monster who haunts her nightmares.

Jordan says she’s not a monster. She loved Claire!

Claire says that wasn’t love. Love isn’t lying to someone their entire life and making them believe terrible things. She could have been happy and good. She could have had a family!

Jordan says she knows she’s made mistakes… Maybe they can help each other.

Claire says it’s the last time they’ll ever see each other.

Jordan tells her not to say that. Does Claire want prison to kill her?

Claire says she doesn’t. She wants Jordan to live a long, painful life. Maybe someone will make Jordan feel as small and worthless as she made Claire feel. She hopes they crush her hopes every day, and at night, she’ll dream of escaping, but there’s nowhere to go. She says that’s what Jordan’s life is now and forever. She stands up and calls the guard.

Jordan tells her to look at her and talk like they used to.

Claire says they’re finished.

Jordan says they’re finished when she says so. She has plans and has all the time in the world. She points at Claire and says she’s chosen the wrong side. The guard drags her away.

Ashley strides into the dining room and sits down with Tucker. She says she’s just spoken to “his girlfriend,” but she should have spoken directly to him instead.

Tucker says he and his “girlfriend” are no longer.

Ashley interrupts and asks why he’s doing this… Why is he gaslighting her? What happened in Paris?

Tucker says he knows what happened and knows the facts… Does she want a minute-by-minute replay?

Ashley says she does.

Tucker says he was drinking, she said something about caring for him deeply, and he said something sarcastically about how her words were a consolation, and he’d hold them near to his heart forever.

Tucker recalls that Ashley had said she loved him but said they needed to take a moment to catch their breath. Tucker had said that she’d been in his mind for years. Every thought, plan, and vision of the future included her.

Tucker says he wished her well, tipping over a glass and pushing the chair out of the way, and then he left. He says he certainly didn’t leave the cafe in ruins.

Ashley can’t believe he’s saying that’s what happened. She knows the truth; he was incredibly angry. She says she had told him she wanted to stay at Jabot, but she wasn’t betraying anything they had; she wanted to be with him and was wearing his ring!

She remembers things differently. She says she cared about what they had together, but Tucker had said they didn’t have anything. They had nothing! She had told him to calm down… They could talk about it in the morning when he’d gotten over his temper.

Ashley says Tucker yelled at her and belittled her. She says he told her he didn’t care for her anymore and didn’t care where she slept and had mocked her.

Tucker says that must have been when he dismantled the cafe in a fit of rage.

Ashley says he threw a chair and broke a glass.

Tucker says that’s not what happened. He asks how she can tell the same story as him, yet it has a completely different ending.

Ashley remembers Tucker belittling her in Paris.

Ashley says it’s simple. She sees what he’s doing. He knows his behavior was unacceptable!

Tucker says it was a public place with a full wait staff… Doesn’t she think someone would have called the authorities or a manager? It was an argument like any normal couple would have had; he doesn’t know why she’s trying to blow it up into a violent tirade… Is that who she thinks he is? He says that if she’s choosing to stick to her story, something else or someone else is at play here.

Ashley says Tucker is twisting everything and trying to make her look unbalanced.

Tucker stands up and says he’s not trying to make her look unbalanced… Ashley’s the only one with an agenda. He says she came to him, which means that, on some level, she’s having doubts. He leaves the dining room and heads upstairs to his suite.

Newman Ranch

Victor and Nikki sit in the living room and talk. Nikki looks at her phone, and Victor hopes she’s not catching up on work.

Nikki says she’s not. She’s looking through her text messages from Lauren and Seth and is thankful they looked after her.

Victor says Lauren is a great help but is unsure about Seth. He asks where Seth was when Nikki started drinking again.

Nikki says it was her responsibility to call her sponsor. She tells Victor not to blame Seth; it’s not his fault.

Victor says he doesn’t have a good feeling about Seth. He thinks Nikki needs someone else as a sponsor.

Nikki says she hates that she’s disappointed Victor.

Victor says she’s never disappointed him.

Nikki says she loves him, and Victor says he loves her too. She asks if anyone was looking for her last night.

Victor shakes his head. Nope.

Nikki gets the feeling that Victor’s trying to keep something from her.

Victor says it’s about “that Claire woman.” Michael Baldwin got approval for Claire to meet with her aunt, and Cole and Victoria went with Claire to Oregon to protect her.

The Oregon Prison

Victoria and Cole come into the visiting room and talk to Claire. Victoria asks how she is.

Claire says a difficult woman raised her to do difficult things, and she did what she needed to do. Jordan tried to ruin so many lives, but she doesn’t get to destroy Claire’s life anymore.

Cole says the right thing to do is usually the hardest.

Claire thanks Victoria and Cole for being there for her and making the meeting between her and Jordan possible. It was so much more than she expected after everything she’d done.

Cole says they’ll do anything for her… Day or night.

Victoria tears up and says they’re there for her… They’re all hers. She says they should get out and go home.

Claire nods, and Victoria walks her out with her arm around her.

Claire is comforted by Victoria as they leave the prison.

Tessa tells Mariah she can trust her. Mariah laughs and asks a server to put a thin, wrapped package in the lounge in a discreet location.

Phyllis tries some clothes on in front of a mirror. She says Danny’s giving her no choice, but she doesn’t mind.
