Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Nikki warned Audra to leave Kyle or lose her job, and Jack & Ashley agreed to settle their differences.
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Mariah and Devon are sitting in the restaurant and talking.
Mariah thanks Devon for taking her out after Tessa left. She says the babysitter has her on speed dial if anything goes wrong.
Devon says he’s happy to help; Mariah needs some company after dealing with Aria’s problems.
Mariah says she feels like her heart is breaking into pieces, and it will be tough with Tessa gone.
Devon says Mariah can always lean on Devon, Abby, and Sharon.
Mariah says they can at least video chat with Tessa while she’s away working. She says that Aria missing out on the hearing world makes her want to cry.
Devon takes Mariah’s hand and says everything will be okay.
Crimson Lights
Billy sits alone in the cafe.
Lily walks into the coffee shop and says hello. She asks what’s on Billy’s mind… She knows that expression on his face, and he’s holding something in!
Billy says he could say the same thing about her.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Phyllis meets with Daniel and they sit down with their drinks to talk.
Phyllis says that she wasn’t sure what to expect after Summer and Daniel told them they wanted nothing to do with her.
Daniel says they wanted what’s best for their mom. She can’t claim to be a changed woman and expect them to forget everything that happened.
Phyllis says she’s really trying.
Daniel asks what’s going on with her… Has she started her new job yet?
Phyllis says she hasn’t heard anything about her job yet… The last she heard, the whole deal might be collapsing.
Daniel says that Phyllis working with Sharon, Nick, and Adam never sat right with him.
Phyllis knows that Daniel doesn’t like Adam, but she wonders what his problem is with Nick and Sharon.
Daniel says that Nick is her ex, and Sharon has been her rival many times over… And Adam is pretty much the devil.
Heather walks down the stairs to the lounge and stops when she sees Daniel and Phyllis talking. She eavesdrops from the stairs.
Phyllis laughs and says they should talk about something else. She asks how Lily is.
Daniel says Lily’s great.
Phyllis asks if Daniel’s “great.”
Daniel says he’s not sure.
Phyllis says it’s not a good sign if Daniel doesn’t know how he is.
Daniel says that Lily seemed a little off after their conversation with Heather. He says that after making missteps with Heather, he doesn’t want to make the same mistakes with Lily. He says that having Heather in town has thrown him for a loop and made him think about everything that went wrong between them.
Phyllis asks Daniel whether seeing Heather again has stirred up some old feelings.
Crimson Lights
Lily tells Billy that she feels stupid saying it out loud… She says that Heather is in town for a few weeks.
Billy says he knows that Heather was helping Phyllis with her case, but that was over a while ago.
Lily says that Heather’s staying in town to do some pro bono work so that Lucy can spend time with Daniel before school starts.
Billy wonders if Lily thinks there’s more to it than that.
Lily isn’t sure… She feels that Heather regrets what went wrong with her and Daniel.
Billy says Daniel and Heather had a long relationship and have a child together… The feelings don’t just vanish when a relationship ends. He asks if Lily and Daniel are in a good place in their relationship.
Lily says it seems good, but it’s a new relationship, and she’s unsure where it’s going.
Billy asks if Lily thinks Daniel could be pulled back to Heather.
Lily says it’s possible.
The GCAC
Devon tells Mariah that hearing aids will probably be the answer to Aria’s hearing problem.
Mariah says she’s weepy on the outside, but she’s still cynical on the inside.
Devon says there are a lot more options today than when he lost his hearing as a teenager.
Mariah says she had a nightmare about Aria being a teenager and turning her back on her parents, and she’s not sure what she should do.
Devon says he gets it… He’s a parent, and she can’t spend all her time speculating, or she’ll drive herself insane.
Mariah wants to know the worst-case scenario for Aria.
Devon says that won’t help her.
Mariah says that people tell her to expect the worst.
Devon says she needs to prepare for the worst but expect the best.
Mariah says that she needs to know the worst-case scenario.
Devon finally gives in and says he’ll tell her.
Crimson Lights
Lily tells Billy that she has a past with Daniel… They were married as teens, but they’re different people now, and she doesn’t know where they’re going now. She says she’s hit some speed bumps in her romantic life lately.
Billy says he’s sorry that he hurt her.
Lily says she wasn’t trying to blame Billy… She’s just explaining where she is in her life right now. She says she’s probably overreacting about Heather and wants Daniel to have a good relationship with Lucy’s mom.
Billy says Lily is amazing, and Daniel would be a fool to mess it up with her.
Lily laughs and says she couldn’t agree more.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Daniel tells Phyllis that the only thing “stirred” by Heather’s return is his guilt over how he treated her and Lucy.
Phyllis says he should take the opportunity to make amends with Heather.
Daniel says that Phyllis was never Lily’s biggest fan, and she had problems with Drucilla, Lily’s mom.
Phyllis says she never had any real issues with Lily, she wants closure for Daniel and Heather. She says she has a “special affection” for Heather now that she’s handled her case while Michael was out of town.
Daniel groans and says he doesn’t like the sound of “special affection.” He hopes that Phyllis doesn’t think that he and Heather will be getting back together.
Phyllis wonders why Daniel would think that. She looks up and notices that Heather has shown up. “Look who’s here!”
Heather walks up and says hello.
Phyllis asks what Heather’s up to.
Heather says she’s there to grab an end-of-the-day cocktail, and Lucy’s hanging out with friends she’s made. She asks if this is where Phyllis collapsed during the bicentennial celebration.
Phyllis says it is. She gestures to the dance floor and says she collapsed right there. She asks Heather to join them.
Daniel looks a bit uncomfortable.
Phyllis says Heather is family… Sit down!
Crimson Lights
Lily tells Billy that they’ve talked about her enough. It’s time to talk about Billy.
She says Billy’s obviously not fine. She heard that Chelsea left town… Is that what’s bothering him?
Billy says he misses Chelsea and Connor but thinks Chelsea is a good mom.
Lily wonders if work is bothering him… Is it Jabot that’s gotten under his skin?
Billy says that Jabot is “in flux,” and Billy could probably stand to talk to someone he trusts.
Lily says she’s all ears, no judgment.
The GCAC
Devon tells Mariah that the worst-case scenario is where the hearing aids don’t work, and Aria would have to get a cochlear implant. If the cochlear implant doesn’t work, then Aria will grow up without being able to hear.
Mariah asks what would happen in that case.
Devon says that they’d learn ways to communicate that wouldn’t involve hearing… He had a TTY device that allowed him to use his phone, and Dru, Neil, and Lily all learned sign language for him.
Mariah asks if learning sign language is hard.
Devon says it’s not… Aria’s name is only four letters. He shows Mariah the signs for Aria’s name and the sign for “mother.”
Aria laughs and says that’s easy. She asks him for more sign language.
Devon shows her the sign language for “guitar.” It’s basically him pretending to play the guitar.
Mariah laughs and says she could have figured that one out. She wonders if learning sign language is going to be difficult. She asks for a sign-language interpretation that would represent her.
Devon ponders for a moment and says, “Brave.” He signs it for her.
Mariah says she likes that.
In the lobby, Mariah tells Devon that she’s probably going to still have nightmares, but wants to thank him for caring about her, Tessa, and Aria.
Devon says they’ve been through a lot together, and he and Abby will always have his back. He says he has an idea… While Tessa’s out of town, Mariah should stay with Abby and him so she’s not home alone worrying.
Mariah laughs and says that’s ridiculous; she doesn’t want to intrude.
Devon says the Chancellor Mansion is huge, and they wouldn’t even notice her there… Besides, Dominic has a ton of toys that Aria would love to play with. Abby would love to have her there.
Mariah thinks about it and agrees.
Devon tells her that she should come over tonight if she wants.
Mariah says she’ll head home, grab Aria, and will pack up some stuff. She’ll see him later!
Crimson Lights
Billy tells Lily that Ashley has left Jabot and has a new husband.
Lily thought Jabot was one big happy family. She asks if it was Tucker’s idea that Ashley leave Jabot.
Billy doesn’t know… Either way, she got her portion of the company as a wedding gift from Jack, and she and Tucker are starting their own cosmetic venture to complete with Jabot.
Lily smirks and says that Jack gave Ashley a piece of Jabot, and now she’s building a competitive company with Tucker?
Billy smiles. He says that the feud had him stuck in the middle between Ashley and Jack. He explains how Jack & Diane enlisted him to find out what Tucker and Ashley were up to, but he pretended to Tucker & Ashley that he was on their side.
Lily quickly figures out that Tucker & Ashley wanted him to weaken Jabot from the inside. She’s surprised he put himself in the middle of that. She asks him if he was a double agent.
Billy says he was loyal to Jack and Jabot. He says that Ashley & Tucker might have had the right instincts about Diane, and she has a lot of influence over Jack.
Lily asks what harm Diane could do to Jabot.
Billy says that Diane could want more power and more input. She might want to do what’s right for her, but not for Jabot, and Jack’s so blinded by love that he wouldn’t even notice.
Lily asks Billy if he thinks it might be better for Ashley and Tucker to take over the company.
Billy says he’s not sure he trusts Tucker or Ashley. He says sometimes he feels like he’s the only Abbott who wants to protect the family company.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Heather tells Daniel and Phyllis that the guest room at their house is full of driftwood and seashells because Lucy has been collecting it to make jewelry.
Phyllis says she’d like a Lucy Romalotti necklace.
Daniel and Heather reminisce about taking Lucy to the beach to collect shells, and how the hermit crabs had moved the shells she set out the night before.
Heather says having a child who loves nature is not the worst thing in the world.
Phyllis sits back and watches with a smile as Daniel and Heather reconnect.
Heather asks if Daniel remembers when Lucy came home with pink hair.
Daniel smirks and says he didn’t hate it.
Heather says that of course he didn’t hate it… He didn’t have to drop her off at a school with a strict dress code and explain his daughter’s hair.
Daniel asks how the pro-bono work is going.
Heather says she’s enjoying it.
Phyllis asks how long the cases are going to last.
Heather says she has to finish the cases within the next few weeks or hand them off to someone else because they have to return to Portugal for Lucy’s school, and her firm will reopen.
Phyllis asks if Heather likes living in Lisbon.
Heather says it’s a beautiful city.
Phyllis wonders if Heather misses living in the States.
Heather says she’s used to living in Europe. She gets homesick occasionally, though.
Daniel laughs nervously. He asks if she’s talking about Savannah… Surely, she’s not talking about Genoa City.
Heather says she thinks about both of them.
Phyllis says that Heather thinks of both Genoa City and Savannah as home… That’s lovely! She looks at Daniel knowingly.
Daniel shoots his mom a warning look.
Heather says she considers the US home because Lucy does. She says that when she and Lucy talk about coming for a visit, Lucy always says she’s excited to “go home”.
Phyllis says Lucy must think of Genoa City as home because Lucy obviously missed Phyllis.
Heather chuckles and says it worries her that maybe Lucy doesn’t like living abroad and wants to return to Savannah. She asks if Lucy has said anything to Daniel about it.
Daniel says they haven’t talked about living in Lisbon at all… They’ve just been focused on reconnecting.
Phyllis says it’s too bad that Lucy has to leave since she’s reconnecting with Daniel, and Lucy isn’t that happy in Portugal.
Daniel says Lucy never said that she wasn’t happy in Portugal.
Heather says she has to leave; she’s got a lot of work to do. She says goodbye to Daniel and Phyllis.
Phyllis hugs Heather and tells her it was lovely to see her.
Heather leaves the lounge.
Daniel asks his mother what that was all about.
Phyllis looks at him and smiles.
Crimson Lights
Lily tells Billy that Jack cherishes their father’s legacy and wants to protect it as much as Billy does.
Billy says that Jack doesn’t care about the business as much as he cares about Diane. He relates how Jack had given Diane a high-level position without consulting his co-CEO, and he wouldn’t put it past Diane to go after Billy’s job.
Lily says Jack wouldn’t go for it.
Billy says that if Diane suggested it, Jack would go for it… He’s not seeing straight when it comes to Diane. If Diane took his position, mayhem would break out, and maybe that’s what Ashley is waiting for.
Lily asks what Billy’s options are.
Billy says that Jabot needs to be run by someone who can put their personal feelings aside and run it like a business, and he thinks that he’s the one to do it.
Lily asks him if he’s planning to take control of Jabot away from Jack.
Billy says he’s not planning a coup but thinks he’s the right person to run Jabot.
Lily asks if Billy’s sure… He’s tried running Jabot in the past, but it didn’t work out so well. He’s never had the same passion for the company that Jack has. She wonders if Billy desires power instead of having Jabot’s best interests at heart.
Billy says he wants to do what’s right for his family’s legacy. He’s not planning a power grab, though.
Lily says he doesn’t want to try to wrangle Jabot away from his brother… She’s been there, and it’s not a good place to be.
Billy says he’s not going to war with Jack. He gets up and prepares to leave the cafe.
Lily’s glad to hear it. She stands up and walks over to Billy.
Billy says if he stands idly by, the damage to Jabot could be significant. He’s not sure of what the right thing is to do.
Lily says that when she has a big decision, she asks herself, “WWDD?”
Billy asks what that means.
Lily answers, “What Would Dad Do?” She says she has to leave and asks if Billy’s ok.
Billy says he is. He knows what he has to do now.
The Chancellor Mansion
Mariah pushes Aria in a stroller into the house. Devon tells Mariah that Abby will be home soon, and they can put the kids to bed and have a nightcap.
Mariah says that sounds good.
Devon says he has to go do some work, but Mariah’s room is set up and she should make herself at home.
Mariah thanks him before he leaves.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Phyllis tells Daniel that she’s just trying to figure out where Heather’s head is at. She will never stop protecting her children and doesn’t want to see them hurt.
Daniel says he can protect himself and doesn’t need his mother’s help… Isn’t the “new” Phyllis supposed to be about boundaries and not crossing lines?
Phyllis stammers.
Daniel says that he’s happy with Lily, and Phyllis shouldn’t be thinking of playing matchmaker. He asks if Phyllis understands.
Phyllis says she does.
Daniel reminds his mother that she tried meddling with his relationship with Heather in the past, and it didn’t work out. He says they share a daughter, but their relationship goes no further. He asks Phyllis not to try to make anything happen between him and Heather because that’d be a huge mistake.
Daniel says it’s Phyllis’s chance to show she’s changed.
Phyllis smiles and nods at Daniel as he leaves the lounge.
The GCAC
Heather is standing in the lobby when Lily walks in and says hello. She asks if Heather’s ok… She seems a little out of it.
Heather brushes it off and says she’s had a long day.
Lily says she can relate to that.
Heather wishes Lily a good night and walks upstairs to her room.
