Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Victor named Nikki as Newman Media’s new CEO, causing Adam to vow revenge, while Sharon fought to keep Kirsten for herself.
Crimson Lights
Nikki walks in and hugs Summer. She asks how she and Kyle are.
Summer says they’re moving ahead with the divorce.
Nikki thinks they’ve been through so much and they should give themselves more time.
Summer says that Kyle’s moved on with Audra Charles.
Nikki is shocked.
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Kyle asks what Audra would like for dessert.
Audra says she thinks he knows, but it would involve a shower…
Nate walks over and interrupts their moment. He asks if Audra has spoken to anyone from Newman.
Audra says she hasn’t… What’s going on?
Nate says they need to discuss it in private.
Ashley & Tucker’s GCAC Suite
There’s a knock at the door, and Ashley answers. It’s Jack.
Ashley asks what he’s doing there.
Jack says that Diane told him what happened to Ashley, and he wanted to see if she was alright.
Ashley says she’s okay, but she’s unsure whether to be more shocked by choking on a grape or by being saved by Diane, who she was sure wanted her dead.
Jack says Diane doesn’t want Ashley dead.
Ashley says she knows now, and it’s so ironic it’s almost cruel.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Billy takes a drink and thinks back to when he fought with Jack about Tucker, who had revealed that Billy wanted to take the CEO position at Jabot. They had words, and Billy had left Jack’s house on bad terms.
Adam walks in and sits down at the bar beside Billy. He orders a single malt, neat.
Billy chuckles and tells Adam that he can see the world through Adam’s eyes for the first time, and it’s not pretty.
Adam asks what could make Billy sympathetic to how he sees the world.
Billy says he has empathy for Adam… He knows what it’s like living in the shadow of someone who thinks you’ll never measure up to their idea of who you should be.
Adam figures that Billy’s talking about Jack. He says Victor is a whole lot worse than Billy can imagine.
Billy says Adam has his whole family to deal with, and no matter how hard he tries, he can’t measure up to them.
Adam asks what Jack did this time.
Ashley & Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Jack tells Ashley that Diane seeing Ashley almost die scared the hell out of her.
Ashley says that Diane surprised her, too.
Jack wonders if Ashley really wondered if Diane would stand there and not save her.
Ashley figures it must have crossed Diane’s mind.
Jack says it didn’t… The moment Diane saw Ashley in distress, all she cared about was saving her life, and if the same thing had happened to Diane, Ashley would have done the same for her.
They sit down, and Jack says that deep down, Ashley is as loving and compassionate as their father, and that’s the person that Diane saved.
Ashley thanks him for the comparison to their father.
Jack says he’s just grateful that she’s alive and well.
Ashley says she’s thankful, too.
Jack asks if they can use it as a wake-up call and stop fighting.
The GCAC
Nate apologizes to Kyle and Audra for interrupting. He tells Audra it can probably wait until their dinner that evening.
Audra says that she assumes Nate wants to talk about Newman Media, and Kyle should be part of the conversation.
Nate says it’ll eventually affect Kyle as well. He sits down and says he wants to give Audra a heads-up, but she can’t mention it to Nikki when they meet.
Audra and Kyle ask what’s happening.
Nate says he just got off the phone with Victoria, and Victor is rearranging the companies again… Adam is out completely.
Kyle is surprised.
Audra asks what’s happening with SNA’s merger if that’s the case.
Nate explains that SNA will be folded into Newman Media, but Nick will return to Newman Enterprises as co-CEO.
Audra is confused… Isn’t that Nikki Newman’s position?
Nate says it’s not her position anymore.
Crimson Lights
Nikki and Summer sit at a table on the patio, talking over coffee.
Summer says she’s surprised that it’s the first that Nikki has heard about Kyle and Audra. They work at Newman Media, and they’re not hiding their relationship.
Nikki says she’s sorry that Kyle is doing this to Summer.
Summer says she betrayed his trust, lied, and pushed him away.
Nikki says that everyone has rough patches… After all, look at her and Victor; they prove that love can overcome anything.
Summer says she was hoping for that and tried, but she’s accepted that she must let Kyle go.
Nikki still can’t believe that Kyle is involved with Audra. She says it’s perfect timing that Summer told her about it now… She’s given Nikki an opportunity to put “that woman” in her place.
Summer tells Nikki that she shouldn’t do anything to Audra or Kyle for her sake… Kyle has moved on, and she wants to move on herself.
Nikki says she wants that, too.
Summer says she wants to keep things peaceful between herself and Kyle for Harrison’s sake. She’s learned from her mother that you can have drama or a happy life… You can’t have both.
Nikki agrees, but she promises that if she decides to stir things up with Audra, it won’t have anything to do with Kyle… Audra needs a healthy dose of humility, and Summer can’t pretend she would mind if Nikki gave it to her.
Summer smirks and says she wouldn’t mind at all.
The GCAC
Kyle says that Victor would never fire Nikki… He must have something better in mind for her.
Nate says that Victoria told him that Victor offered Nikki the CEO position at Newman Media, but she hasn’t accepted yet.
Audra says that Nikki won’t turn down the position, which means that Audra will be out of a job, and Victor lied to her when he said he had other plans for her.
Nate says he wasn’t finished… Audra isn’t being fired. Victor said that Audra would be Nikki’s second-in-command.
Audra scoffs and says she’d be second-in-command to a woman who said she doesn’t trust her.
Nate says that if it’s what Victor wants, Nikki will go along with it.
Kyle asks what happens to him if these changes go through.
Ashley & Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Ashley tells Jack that she already ended their conflict.
Jack says she turned her back on the family and their father’s company. That’s not the solution that he hoped for. Jack can’t get it out of his head that he almost lost Ashley, and he’s so thankful that Diane was there.
Ashley says other people were at the restaurant; she’s sure one of them would have saved her if Diane wasn’t there. She thinks Jack’s making too much of it.
Jack says she’s his sister, and he loves her so much… The thought of losing her is too much. He asks that Ashley come back to where she belongs.
Ashley says she’s hated battling with Jack as much as he has. She hopes that Jack means that he can accept Tucker in her life by asking her back.
Jack says he’s willing to try.
Ashley says she’s only been trying to save Jack. She thought Diane would be his death, but she gave up on the thought of Diane trying to kill Jack and taking his fortune when Diane signed the post-nuptial agreement. She says she’ll give Diane the benefit of the doubt.
Jack says they haven’t always agreed on their choices of partners.
Ashley laughs and mentions Phyllis.
Jack comes right back with “Victor.”
Ashley smirks. She says that if Diane behaves herself, she’ll bury the sword, but if Diane steps out of line, Ashley will be “back with a vengeance.”
Jack says he’s confident it won’t be necessary. He says he misses his sister and their fights about the important things… Like who gets the last cinnamon roll.
Ashley smiles through happy tears and says Jack is a cinnamon hog, so it’s got to be him.
Jack laughs and says she’s probably right.
Ashley takes his hands and says she missed Jack, too.

The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Adam asks Billy what’s going on between him and Jack.
Billy says he had a fleeting moment of empathy, and they can’t call each other “bro” just because of it.
Adam says they have that in common… He’s not interested in a friendship like that, either. He says it’s interesting that Billy’s seeing the commonalities between their families, but they’re completely different people.
Billy asks what he means by that.
Adam says he’s a cold, manipulative narcissist, and Billy is just a screw-up… But he’s heard that Billy has turned a corner and is the only sane executive at Jabot nowadays. He asks if that’s what Jack is taking away from Billy.
Billy says it’s not… Jack seems to be waiting for Billy to screw up again; it’s getting old.
Adam says that Victor giveth and Victor taketh away. Jack is a much fairer boss and a much fairer man. He wonders if Jack really is waiting for Billy to screw up or whether Billy’s waiting for himself to screw up.
The GCAC
Nate tells Kyle that his name didn’t come up when he was talking to Victoria, so he has no idea what Kyle’s future at Newman Media is.
Audra tells Kyle she will praise his work and values when she speaks to Nikki later that day, and Nikki should understand… Unless there’s anything that Nikki is holding against Kyle.
Kyle says that he’s getting divorced from Nikki’s granddaughter… Nikki probably won’t be too happy about that.
Nate asks if Nikki knows about the divorce.
Kyle says that the Newman family is close… The whole family probably knows. He says that if Nikki doesn’t already know about him and Audra, she will soon, and things will get ugly when that happens.
Audra asks if it will be ugly for her, Kyle, or both of them.
Kyle says they’ll know soon enough. He says Victor respects Audra but probably doesn’t feel the same about Kyle since he’s divorcing his granddaughter.
Audra says she promises to have his back on things.
Kyle says he’s not holding his breath. He should start getting a backup plan in place.
Nate says Kyle’s getting ahead of himself.
Audra tells Kyle not to start filling out job applications yet… She can be pretty persuasive.
Kyle excuses himself and says he has to go to the office. He shakes Nate’s hand and thanks him for the heads-up before leaving the club.
Nate tells Audra that Kyle probably won’t survive the merger.
Audra says it’ll be how it’s supposed to be.
Nate says that’s cold.
Audra says Kyle doesn’t need a job, and she’s not “serious” with Kyle.
Nate wonders if Kyle knows it’s not serious.
Audra smiles and says it’s time for her to meet Nikki. She gets up and leaves.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Billy asks about the information Adam had on Tucker.
Adam asks what Billy has in mind.
Billy says he’s open to suggestions.
Adam says he’s reconsidering… He may need to keep that information to himself.
Billy thanks him for the tease. He finishes his drink and tells Adam that their conversation was intriguing while it lasted. He leaves the club.
Ashley & Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Jack asks Ashley where they go from here… Is she still determined to start a company that will compete with Jabot?
Ashley says she needs time to think and have a conversation with Tucker.
Jack says she can take all the time she needs. All he cares is that they’re brother and sister, not enemies.
They hug.
The Newman Ranch House
Nikki thanks Audra for meeting with her.
Audra says it was a nice surprise that Nikki wanted to meet with her.
Nikki asks Audra to sit and offers her some tea.
Audra figures that Nikki wanted to meet and talk about the SNA/Newman merger.
Nikki says they’ll get to that, but first, she wants to know what Audra is doing with Kyle Abbott.
Audra says she’s glad that Nikki brought up Kyle. He’s been doing a great job at Newman Media and was a smart hire.
Nikki says Audra’s coy act may work on the men in her life, but it won’t work on Nikki. Audra knows she wasn’t referring to Newman Media… She’s talking about Audra’s “fling” with Kyle.
Audra smiles and says, “Oh, we’re going there.”
Nikki says they’re already there. She asks if Audra is aware that Kyle is married to her granddaughter.
Audra says she understands that Kyle and Summer are getting a divorce.
Nikki tells Audra not to split hairs. She knows that Kyle’s only “playing games” with Audra to avoid the pain of a breakup, which means that Audra’s standing in the way of a possible reconciliation.
Audra says that Kyle’s a grown man who makes his own decisions about what he wants and who he wants in his life, and Summer was hardly blameless in their marriage problems.
Nikki asks what Audra’s point is.
Audra says she knows how painful things can be during a breakup.
Nikki says of course she does… Audra broke her grandson, Noah’s, heart as well. She asks if the Newman family brings out Audra’s viciousness or if it’s just her nature.
Audra says Noah never told Nikki the whole story. Things were complex, and in the end, they broke each other’s hearts. She says she doesn’t feel comfortable discussing her private life with her new boss.
Nikki sees that Audra heard about Nikki’s “promotion” to CEO. She asks how she found out and figures that Nate told Audra.
Audra says they’re not getting anywhere… She needs to know if Nikki is letting her go from Newman Media.
Chancellor Park
Summer sits on a bench, sipping a drink, when Kyle walks through the park.
Kyle sees Summer and says hello. He asks how she is.
Summer says she’s good and asks Kyle how he’s doing.
Kyle shrugs.
Summer asks how Harrison is.
Kyle smiles and says Harrison’s mad at whoever invented Brussels sprouts and wants an emu for his birthday.
Summer laughs and says Harrison mentioned the emu, and she told him to ask his father.
Kyle says he heard about Chloe joining Marchetti, with Chelsea working remotely.
Summer says it’s going really well. She asks how things are at Newman Media.
Kyle says there’s a shakeup there, and he’s waiting to see how it affects him.
Summer says she’s sure Kyle will survive. He always does.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Nate enters the lounge and walks up to the bar.
Adam looks over and says, “There he is! The newly appointed Newman golden boy!”
Nate says he wouldn’t call himself that. He says he never got a promotion, and he’s seen as an outsider.
Adam says he’s Victor Newman’s son and didn’t get to keep his job; nepotism must be overrated. He tells Nate not to get too comfortable. He leaves the lounge.
The Newman Ranch House
Nikki tells Audra that all her instincts are screaming to get rid of her. She has issues with how Audra lives her life, and she knows it’s none of her business, but Audra keeps targeting people she loves. She can’t can’t argue with the work that Audra’s done, though; it’s impressive.
Audra thanks her for noticing.
Nikki says it’s her job to notice, and Audra came to Victor when Adam tried to blackmail her. She says Victor also thinks a lot of Audra, so she’s decided to give Audra a chance.
Audra thanks her and says she won’t regret it.
Nikki says there’s one condition… Audra needs to let Kyle and Summer have a shot at getting back together.
Audra says she’s not sure what Nikki means.
Nikki says that Audra has to forget about Kyle. Leave him alone, or her future at Newman Media is over.
Chancellor Park
Summer tells Kyle that Heather’s staying in town for a while, doing pro bono cases, and she asked her to help with the divorce proceedings.
Kyle says he’s sure it’s for the best.
Summer says they both need to move on and not look back.
Kyle looks uncomfortable and says he has to get back to the office.
Summer says she should get back too. She says goodbye and leaves the park.
Crimson Lights
Billy enters the cafe and sees Jack. He walks past Jack silently and sits down at a table.
Jack walks over and says he’s glad that Billy’s there.
Billy says he’s not in the mood to talk.
Jack cuts him off and says he left messages for Billy apologizing for their misunderstanding.
Billy says Jack’s “misunderstanding” wasn’t just that.
Jack says they can’t keep fighting. He just made inroads on reconciling with Ashley and would like to do the same with Billy.
Billy asks if Jack bought Ashley’s act.
Jack says he knows Ashley; it was real.
Ashley & Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Ashley applies some lipstick in the mirror. She thinks back to when her father, John, talked to her about the fight between her and Jack.
John told her he was counting on her to make the first move to stop the battle.
Ashley walks into the bedroom and picks up her phone.
She sends a text message to Tucker. “Are you up for a trip to Paris? Honeymoon? Meet me at the airport. I need to get away from all of this.”
Next Week on The Young and the Restless
Heather walks down the stairs in the jazz lounge and overhears Daniel telling Phyllis that having Heather in town has thrown him for a loop. Phyllis wonders if it’s stirring up some old feelings.
Nikki meets with Kyle and doesn’t want to discuss work… She wants to know what the hell he’s been doing with his life!
Billy tells Diane he’s the only person who will do whatever they can to protect the family company.
