Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Adam’s obsession with Sally persisted, Tucker changed the deal with Phyllis and targeted Billy for embezzlement.
Newman Enterprises
Victor finishes dictating a press release and ends the call.
Nate comes to the door, and Victor welcomes him in.
Nate says he wanted to see how Victor was settling in.
Victor laughs and thanks him for his interest. He says he wants to ask Nate some questions about Adam.
The GCAC Dining Room
Jack walks in and sits down with Adam.
Adam congratulates him on his marriage to Diane.
Jack thanks him and says he wants the best for him.
Adam says he hasn’t gotten the best lately since he’s been fired from Newman, but he’s sure Jack knows that since Billy got Jack involved as the “negotiator.”
Jack says he wanted to meet with Adam to see what dirt he had on Tucker.
Adam asks how interested he is.
Jack says he’s interested enough to pay money for it, as long as it’s within reason.
Adam smirks and says he’s not known to be reasonable.
Jack figures Adam would be more reasonable with him than with Billy. He asks Adam to name his price.
Crimson Lights
Victoria tells Nikki she knows why they’re there before they meet with Victor… Her mother is trying to suss Victoria’s mood before the meeting.
Nikki says she doesn’t need an excuse to have coffee with her daughter. She asks if Victoria has accepted Victor’s decision.
Victoria accepts that he’s come back to run the company.
Nikki asks if she’s willing to work beside her father.
Victoria says she doesn’t have much of a choice.
Nikki asks if Victoria has heard from Nick since he’s supposed to have returned from his trip.
Victoria says she’s called him a few times, but he hasn’t returned her calls.
Nikki wonders if there’s anything pressing that Victoria needs to talk to Nick about.
Victoria takes a sip of her coffee and says she wants to check in with him.
Nikki says if Victoria’s motives are as clear to Nick as they are to her, Nick is probably trying to avoid her.
Victoria asks what she’s talking about.
Nikki thinks Victoria will try to talk Nick into returning to Newman Enterprises as her ally.
Sally’s GCAC Suite
Sally looks at the flowers on the table before her and thinks back to kissing Adam.
There’s a knock at the door. She gets up and answers. It’s Nick.
Sally invites him in with a smile.
A bit later, Sally and Nick are cuddling in bed together after a romp between the sheets.
Sally says it was quite the homecoming. She thanks him for the flowers, says they’re beautiful, and wants to hear about his trip.
Nick says he doesn’t want to talk about his trip… He wants to hear all about her interior design company. Her business plan was amazing, and so is she!
Sally says the finance team set up her account, and everything’s coming together. She’s very happy and grateful to Nick for making it a reality.
Nick laughs and says he’s glad she did it… But why did she wait so long?
Sally says she’s stubborn.
Nick says it works for her and will do whatever he can to excite her.
Sally says it’s nice to have something positive to focus on.
Nick asks how everything else was while he was gone. Did Adam bother her while he was out of town?
The GCAC Dining Room
Adam tells Jack he admires his directness. He says Billy asked him for a straight answer last time, but he shut him down.
Jack says it’s him now. What’s the price?
Adam doesn’t think that Billy or Jack have anything that would benefit him.
Jack asks if Adam is looking for leverage.
Adam says he would have tried to weasel a job out of it in the past since he’s technically unemployed.
Jack says he has already offered him a job.
Adam says he’d want the co-CEO position if he were looking to trade.
Jack says Adam already had that job and walked away from it.
Adam laughs and says the irony isn’t lost on him.
Jack asks if he’s having second thoughts about leaving Jabot.
Adam says he wasn’t suited for Jabot, and most of Jack’s family hates him. He says he probably sabotaged a good thing. He’s good at that.
Jack asks if he needs money to start a business of his own.
Adam doesn’t need money.
Jack has a crazy idea. He asks Adam to just give him the information without any strings attached.
Adam asks how that would serve him.
Jack says he’ll take the information and use it against Tucker, and Adam could sit back and enjoy watching Tucker McCall fail.
Lily’s Penthouse Apartment
Devon sits with Lily as she starts a video call with Jill.
Jill asks what they’ve found out… What’s the latest?
Devon and Lily say they still haven’t found the mystery investor.
Jill asks Lily what Victor said when they met.
Lily says Victor told her nothing except that the buyer wanted to remain anonymous.
Jill thinks there’s something fishy about it.
Devon says there’s a lot of secrecy surrounding it; there have been no leaks to the media about it, either.
Jill says not knowing is the worst. Actually, she’s not sure what the worst could be.
Devon says they’re with her on that.
Jill says she understands why Victor wanted to remain anonymous when he bought his share of Chancellor-Winters, but at least he let her know who it was.
Devon says Victor’s actions made sense since he was trying to get Devon and Lily to stop fighting.
Lily says Victor’s intentions may have been good, but she doesn’t like the underhanded way he went about it.
Jill is pissed. She says that Victor didn’t even consult her this time when he sold the shares.
Lily says Victor told her that it had nothing to do with the company’s performance. It was just the right offer at the right time.
Jill says they have no idea what the investor’s intentions are. It’s not good at all.
Newman Enterprises
Victor tells Nate that Adam wants to start over at Newman and “earn his stripes.”
Nate asks if Victor thinks Adam is sincere… He has doubts about Adam, who didn’t want to be a team player with Nick and Sharon. He feels that Adam won’t change, and Adam’s behavior can be frustrating.
Victor says Nate’s not alone in feeling frustrated. He says he hopes Adam is capable of change.
Nate wonders how Victor could think that after Adam undermined his partners and resorted to blackmail.
Victor says Adam has let him down, but so have his other children… Especially Nicholas.
Nate asks how.
Victor says Nick abandoned Newman Enterprises to work with Sharon at Kirsten Incorporated… A company that wasn’t worth keeping.
Nate figures it’s difficult to be disappointed by both his sons.
Victor sighs and says it is, though he feels Nick might return at some point. He hopes that Adam will find a way to vent his anger so he can stop feeling like an outsider at Newman.
Nate says he can relate… He felt like an outsider to his family when he worked at Chancellor-Winters.
Victor asks Nate to do him a favor.
Nate says of course he will.
Victor says he wants Nate to help, support, and encourage Adam until he figures out his path.
Sally’s GCAC Suite
Sally tells Nick that she saw Adam while Nick was away, and they both acknowledged that they were starting over. She says Adam said he was ready to move on without seeking revenge.
Nick says that sounds too evolved for Adam.
Sally says Adam sounded sincere and wants to “hit the reset button” and start over.
Nick will believe it when he sees it.
Sally says she thought the same.
Nick says whatever Adam chooses doesn’t concern him, and if Adam means what he says, it doesn’t concern Sally either.
Sally asks if he really feels that way.
Nick says he’s done with his brother… Adam just leaves destruction in his path.
Sally says she’s never heard Nick be so cavalier about his brother.
Nick says he’s always cavalier. And funny. And handsome. And charming.
Sally laughs and says he’s not wrong, but he’s probably worried about how Adam’s actions will affect Victoria or Victor.
Nick says they can deal with it however they like. He’s moving on.
Sally says that doesn’t sound like Nick. She asks if he really feels that way or whether he’s just doing it to prove a point to his father.

Nikki says Victoria is probably going to try to change it anyhow.
Victoria asks if Nikki thinks she’s so conniving. Besides, she’s been stripped of her position by her father.
Nikki says Victoria still has a powerful role at the company. She didn’t know Victor would return and take charge. She has a thought… Does Nick even know that Victor is going to be CEO again?
Victoria says Nick didn’t hear it from her since he won’t return her calls.
Nikki says it hasn’t been released to the press either. Maybe Nick has spoken to Victor.
Victoria asks if Nikki thinks Victor will try to get Nick to return to the company.
Nikki hopes so.
Victoria says she hopes that Nick will return because, as her brother, it’s in his best interest to share her concerns.

Lily’s Apartment
Lily tells Jill that she’s not sure why Victor’s going along with the investor’s secrecy.
Jill figures Victor just wants to piss her off.
Devon says he doesn’t want this leading to them going public.
Jill says that’s not going to happen.
Lily says there are too many unknowns for her.
Jill says Victor is probably loving seeing her squirm.
Lily says she and Devon figure it might be Tucker.
Jill says that’d be taking things too far.
Devon asks what Jill thinks their next move should be.
Jill says they need answers. It’s time she spoke to Victor herself.
Newman Enterprises
Nate tells Victor that what he’s asking might not be possible. He doesn’t think Adam would like Nate “looking out for him.”
Victor says that Nate can find a way.
Nate says he’s had flare-ups with Adam in the past, the most recent being when he tried to blackmail Audra.
Victor says Adam knows he’s made bad moves, and he’s willing to believe that Adam will try to turn things around.
Nate understands why Victor would give his son the benefit of the doubt, but he doesn’t share that mindset, and Adam knows it.
Victor says there’s always the chance that Adam is playing them for fools.
Nate gets it. He says that Victor is asking him to be a friend to Adam if he’s sincere and to keep an eye on him to see if he’s not sincere.
Victor nods in agreement.
The GCAC Dining Room
Jack tells Adam he’s offering him an opportunity. He knows Adam worked hard with Nick and Sharon to get their enterprise up and running.
Adam says he blew that up.
Jack says he knows Adam wants to set things right with Victor, and if Adam’s sincere about wanting to change, maybe giving Jack the information might be a step in the right direction.
Adam says it’s not in his nature to be that nice, even if he’s trying to change.
Jack asks Adam what his “new path” is all about… He hasn’t heard about it directly from the source.
Adam says it’s simple. He’s tired of letting anger and resentment be the driving force in his life. He says Victor has given him many opportunities in the past, and he’s ruined every single one.
Jack asks if he’s told any of this to Victor.
Adam says he has. He’s reinventing himself and trying to be the person everyone wanted him to be.
Jack thinks that’s great. He asks what Adam’s next step is.
Adam says he’s starting from the ground floor at Newman and will start at the ground floor and work his way up. Maybe along the way, he’ll find himself.
Jack is impressed and says it must mean a lot to his father that he’s putting in the effort and he’s rooting for him every step of the way. Jack’s phone pings. It’s Traci. “Come home. Important.”
Adam asks if everything’s alright.
Jack says he’s not sure. He says he needs to go, but asks if they can wrap it up before he leaves.
Adam asks if Jack thinks Tucker really is a threat to him.
Jack says Tucker tried to manipulate his sister, and all signs point to Tucker coming after Jabot now. Jack won’t allow Tucker to hurt his family or his company.
Adam says Jack’s one of the good ones, and he’d hate to see Tucker take advantage of him. He will give Jack the information he needs, but there’s one thing he wants in exchange… If ever in the future he needs a hand with something, Jack will be there for him.
Crimson Lights
Nikki tells Victoria it’s not easy to be caught between her and her father. She’s not sure how to approach Victor about it.
Victoria says Nikki needs to talk to Victor and help him see reason.
Nikki says she doesn’t think Victor is acting irrationally like Victoria believes, but she thinks he’s putting too much pressure on himself. She’s also unhappy that Nicholas has left the company, and it would be best for everyone if he returned.
Victoria agrees.
Nikki says she can’t help Victoria go after her father.
Victoria says it’s not her intention.
Nikki says she knows Victoria’s hurt by her father’s action, but Victor doesn’t think any less of her and knows she’s capable of the position.
Victoria says that Victoria needs to realize that his legacy belongs in her hands now.
Nikki says she has to side with Victor.
Victoria says they’re not on opposite sides. They’d be doing what’s best for Victor, and they’d be doing it for the good of the company too.
Nikki says Victoria’s intentions may be good, but she also knows that Victoria will do anything to get what she wants when she feels cornered.
Victoria rolls her eyes and wonders where she learned that from.
Nikki urges Victoria not to try and undermine her father. It’d end badly for the family, and especially for Victoria.
Sally’s GCAC Suite
Nick tells Sally he made the right move. He loves his family, but having some space right now feels necessary.
Sally asks if that’s the only reason.
Nick says that Victor called him while he was away and told him that he’s coming back as CEO.
Sally says that must be a huge blow to Victoria.
Nick agrees.
Sally asks if he’s heard from Victoria yet.
Nick says Victoria called him a bunch and sent him lots of text messages, but he hasn’t responded. He thinks Victoria would want him to come back to Newman as her ally.
Sally says it’s Nick’s decision, and she can see both sides of it. She understands why he’d want to stay away, but knows he wants to support his family, too.
Nick says the only wild card in the deck is Adam. He can’t help but think he’s got some kind of angle.
Sally says she’s not sure, she’s been fooled by him before. Maybe he really can change, though.
Nick says he doesn’t buy it. Adam has every reason to hate all the Newmans now.
Sally says Adam might be tired of the conflict.
Nick says Adam thrives on chaos. Conflict is in his DNA.
Newman Enterprises
Victor shakes Nick’s hand and thanks him for his help and discretion.
Victoria and Nikki walk in and ask Victor if everything’s alright and if there’s anything they should know about.
Victor says there’s nothing of importance. He has to leave for a meeting at Society.
Victoria asks if he needs her to join him.
Victor says he doesn’t; she can hold down the fort. He says he had a press release prepared, and he’ll show it to Victoria when he gets back. The press release contains information about Nikki’s new position at Newman Media and that Adam has returned to the company at the bottom of the ladder.
Victoria says she’s thankful that Victor’s keeping her in the loop. She thinks giving Adam a position at the company is pointless and a mistake.
Victor asks if he needs to remind Victoria that she also started at the bottom.
Victoria tells her father not to compare her to Adam. She started in the mailroom because she wanted to know the business and contribute something meaningful. She hopes Victor knows that’s not Adam’s intention.
Victor says he meant what he said. This is the way things will be. He tells her not to forget that nobody’s position in the company is secure. He leaves the office.
Nikki says she’s going back to her office and leaves.
Nate asks Victoria if she’s okay.
Victoria says she’s fine. She asks what Victor and Nate had talked about.
Nate says she won’t believe it. Victor wants Nate to become Adam’s new best friend.
The GCAC Dining Room
Jack asks if Adam is asking for an IOU in exchange for the information.
Adam says the day may never come, but he wants to know that if he needs a favor in the future, he knows Jack will have his back.
Jack says it sounds like a deal with the devil.
Adam says maybe his “better angels” will win out this time.
Jack says he’s willing to risk it.
Adam says he’ll email him soon with the information he needs.
Jack stands up and shakes Adam’s hand. He thanks him and leaves the club.
Newman Enterprises
Nate tells Victoria that Victor wants him to support Adam and keep an eye on him.
Victoria can’t believe that Victor is giving Adam another chance. When is enough enough?
Nate says he told Victor that he was skeptical, too, but thinks that Victor wouldn’t have asked him to keep an eye on Adam if he didn’t have his own concerns about him.
Victoria rants that Adam’s never been sincere about changing.
Nate says he’s on the same page as Victoria on this.
Victoria thinks Adam has an agenda.
Nate thinks Victor thinks so, too, and wants Nate to find out the truth about Adam.
Victoria doesn’t think it’s a bad plan.
Sally’s GCAC Suite
Nick and Sally get dressed, and Nick asks if Sally’s seen his phone.
Sally finds it under some clothes on the floor and takes look as she goes to pass it back to Nick. She asks if all the messages on there are from Victoria.
Nick says they probably are, but Victoria can wait.
Sally says he shouldn’t ignore Victoria. Give her a call and see what she wants… It might be important.
Nick sighs and calls his sister.
Victoria asks to meet with him. It’s important.
Society
Victor’s phone rings. It’s a video call from Jill.
Jill’s angry. She says Victor sold his interest in Chancellor-Winters without warning, leaving them scrambling.
Victor says he’s sorry she’s upset, but she could have avoided it by calling him instead of sending Lily to interrogate him.
Jill asks if he’ll tell her who the person is that owns a stake in her company.
Victor says he’s sorry, but he can’t reveal who the investor is.
Jill says Victor’s loyalty is to the investor and not to Jill.
Victor says she’ll find out soon enough who the new investor is.
The Abbott Mansion
An excited Traci greets Jack at the door.
Jack asks what’s wrong… Her message sounded urgent.
Traci says everything is fine. She needed him home, but she didn’t want to spoil the surprise.
Jack looks confused. What surprise?
A voice calls out, “Hello, Jackie!”
A grin spreads over Jack’s face as he turns around. “Mamie!”
