Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Victor told Victoria to leave Newman Enterprises, Nikki forced Audra to fire Kyle, and Lily suspected Tucker is the mystery investor.
The Abbott Mansion
Diane stops Kyle as he’s heading out the door. She asks him where he’s going, and he replies that he’s heading into the office. He’s dressed casually, and Diane asks if he forgot his suits at the dry cleaners.
Kyle says he has to clear out his office… He didn’t quit; Nikki terminated his contract.
Diane figures out that it must have been because of Audra. She says his fling with Audra cost him his job.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Audra gets up to leave when she runs into Tucker.
Tucker asks if she has a minute to talk and invites her to sit with him. He says he’s been thinking about their last conversation.
Audra says that it was a spontaneous, enjoyable hour between old friends. It wasn’t an invitation to reignite anything.
Tucker takes her hand and smiles. She pulls her hand away. Tucker says she might not believe it, but he’s been thinking of her on a “karmic” level.
Audra says she’s almost intrigued.
Tucker figures she’s more than intrigued.
Chancellor Park
Jack is walking through the park when Phyllis calls out a greeting.
Jack looks at her with cold eyes. He says he has no interest in making small talk with her.
Phyllis smiles and says, “This is how it’s going to be?”
Jack says they’re miles past any hope of reconciliation. They had one thing left between them: Kyle and Summer were married, but Phyllis obliterated that marriage.
Society
Billy approaches Adam’s table and asks if he can join him.
Adam says no, but Billy sits down and takes a bite of Adam’s croissant.
Billy says he heard that Adam lost his job again. He sympathizes with him.
Adam sarcastically says that Billy’s compassion means the world to him and asks what he wants.
Billy says he wants help… Maybe.
Adam laughs.
Billy says that Adam claims to have some damaging information on Tucker.
Adam says he did and does.
Billy says he was willing to share that information for the right price.
Adam says that’s true, too.
Billy says, “Now that you’ve lost your job for the eighteenth time…” He asks what Adam’s price might be.
Chancellor Park
Phyllis tells Jack she has something to tell him if he’ll give her a moment.
Jack agrees. One minute.
Phyllis says she knows she screwed up, but she’s trying really hard to change.
Jack says it seems that’s the least she could do. He doesn’t wish her ill but wishes she can turn things around for Daniel and Summer’s sakes and hasn’t seen any sign of her trying to change.
Phyllis says it won’t happen overnight, but she will change. Jack will see!
Jack tells her he said goodbye at Phyllis’s memorial service, and as far as he’s concerned, she’s still dead. He leaves the park.
Daniel walks in on the tail end. He tells his mom he wishes he could march up to Jack and ask how dare he speak to his mother like that… She had it coming, though. He asks if she’s ready for the struggle to return to her old life.
Phyllis isn’t sure she’s ready for the struggle. She keeps thinking she’s tough and can handle it, but it hurts her feelings.
Daniel says she needs to focus on something productive. He asks how the job is going with Nick and Sharon.
Phyllis says there was a shakeup at Newman, and she’s collateral damage.
Daniel says she can’t catch a break.
The Abbott Mansion
Diane tells Kyle to have a seat against his protests.
Kyle says he doesn’t want to get into it right now, and it doesn’t matter why he’s no longer with Newman Media. It’s over.
Diane says she won’t push. She’s sorry that it didn’t work out for him. She asks what he’s going to do now.
Kyle says he hasn’t figured it out yet, but he doesn’t need to return to work immediately. Maybe he’ll take a life of leisure for a bit; after all, Harrison thought the beach and palm trees were cool.
Diane scoffs and asks if he’s just going to take his son, move to the beach, and start a new life.
Kyle gives the “shaka” sign (Hang Loose!) and says it doesn’t sound too bad.
Diane says he’s not a “work on your tan” guy. He needs direction.
Kyle says it doesn’t matter for now, and the right opportunity will open eventually.
Diane tells him he should come back to Jabot.
Kyle says he told Jack he’d return to Jabot only if he took Billy’s position as co-CEO.
Diane says Kyle shouldn’t start packing for the tropics just yet.
Society
Adam tells Billy that Tucker is back from Paris without Ashley… What’s up with that?
Billy says he’s not sure yet. All he knows is that things between Ashley and Tucker went to hell, personally and professionally.
Adam thinks that’s quick, even for Tucker. He sounds like a pissed-off megalomaniac, and he can see why Billy would want to stop him. He asks what Billy is offering in return for the damning information on Tucker.
Billy says he can’t make an offer until he knows how damaging the information would be to Tucker.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Tucker tells Audra he was thinking about her comment about leaving Newman Media and coming to work with him at Jabot once he takes it away from Jack and Billy.
Audra says she doesn’t recall anything about “jumping ship.” She only said she’d keep her options open.
Tucker asks how confident she is in her future at Newman. Nikki must think she’s a manipulative opportunist.
Audra says she’s a smart and talented manipulative opportunist, thank you very much… Nikki might decide Audra is of no use to Newman Media, but she has no reason to walk away yet.
Tucker says it’s her loss.
Audra says if something were to happen and Jabot does work out… What exactly does he see her doing?
Tucker says he hasn’t found any specific job titles yet, but it would be prestigious. He’s not interested in running Jabot since the whole takeover is simply about taking it away from Jack.
Audra says that’s purely vindictive.
Tucker nods. He says he wants to punish the Abbotts and hit them where it hurts. As far as he’s concerned, the Abbotts shattered any future he had with Ashley.
Audra says she’s not sure he can pull it off. Don’t they suspect he’s coming after them?
Tucker says they know he’s coming after them and the company.
Audra wonders why that doesn’t bother him.
Tucker says he has a secret weapon… Billy Abbott.
Society
Adam tells Billy he’s having second thoughts about getting into questionable activities with him. He says he’s trying to change and will start at Newman from the bottom and work his way up because he’s trying to prove to his family that he can change.
Billy laughs his head off at that. He says, “From one screwup to another, that’s not going to happen.” He says he’s Adam Newman, and no matter how hard he tries to change, he’s still Adam Newman. He says to tell him his price, and they can move on from there.

Chancellor Park
Daniel sits down, and Phyllis sits beside him.
Phyllis says she can’t catch a break and is tired of defending herself against people who don’t believe in her and don’t believe she can change.
Daniel thinks part of the problem is that people have heard her say she will change for decades, and faking her own death ruined her credibility.
Phyllis says she’d take it back if she could.
Daniel tells her to do something different this time.
Phyllis says it’s tough when she keeps losing one job after another, and now the insurance company is coming after her for the money that Stark stole when she “died”.
Daniel asks if she knows where Jeremy hid the money or where the savings are that he stole.
Phyllis says she has no idea; she’s been trying to find the money but has had no luck. She says people stare at her like she’s a villain when she’s out walking around town.
She says that maybe Stark was right… Maybe she should have left town and started over.
Daniel says she’d only be leaving him and Summer again.
Phyllis says her children might be better off without her.
Daniel says they wouldn’t be better off, and Phyllis knows that. He says they’re not going to have a pity party. Phyllis is staying; she’s already put her kids through the pain of her leaving, and she can’t do that to them again. He asks how she could bail out when she’s going to be starting a new job.
Phyllis is confused… What new job?
Daniel asks Phyllis to come and work with him at Omega Sphere.
Phyllis can’t believe it. He’s offering her a job?
Daniel says he is. It’s not top-level, but it’s worthwhile, stimulating, and will be an honest paycheck. It’ll give her something to focus on other than her troubles.
Phyllis says Daniel doesn’t owe her any favors.
Daniel says he’s not doing her any favors. She has more talent than the job he has in mind for her.
Phyllis says she has many talents.
Daniel says he’s aware. He’ll be watching her, and she’ll need to be reliable. He doesn’t want to hear excuses or complaints. Once she draws a salary, she can work out a repayment plan with the insurance company.
Phyllis remembers telling Tucker she would work for the money and raise it independently. Tucker had just laughed and told her it would take her ten years to pay it off.
Phyllis says she appreciates Daniel and thanks him for the opportunity, but she’ll have to think about it.
Daniel’s taken aback but tells her to think about it. He tells her she should also think about when she will stop getting in her own way. He gets up and leaves the park.
The Abbott Mansion
Kyle asks his mom if there’s a chance Billy will leave Jabot.
Diane says she shouldn’t have said anything.
Jack comes home and sees Diane and Kyle there. He chuckles and asks if it’s casual dress day at Newman Media.
Kyle says he no longer works at Newman Media… Nikki let him go.
Jack asks what happened.
Diane says she already asked, and Kyle doesn’t want to discuss it.
Kyle says it didn’t work out.
Jack starts talking about Nikki, and Kyle shuts him down. He says he wants to ask one question… Just one.
Kyle tells him to go ahead.
Jack asks him if he’s ready to return to the family business where he belongs.
Kyle says it depends… Will Jack reinstate him as co-CEO, or will he continue to ignore Billy’s talent for screwing things up?
Society
Adam tells Billy he’ll have to think about the price he wants for the information.
Billy reminds Adam that he was the one to bring him the offer for information weeks ago. He wants to make a deal now, but Adam’s being coy.
Adam says things have changed since they last talked… He’s in a different mindset now.
Billy doesn’t believe it. He says if Adam has any information on Tucker, it’s not worth the headache he’s giving him.
Billy gets up and prepares to leave, passing Tucker on the way out.
Tucker stops Billy and says he thought they were meeting… Billy texted him.
Billy shakes his head and says it must have been someone else.
Tucker looks at Adam, who nods in greeting.
The Abbott Mansion
Jack tells Kyle he’s sorry things didn’t work out for him at Newman Media, but he’s thrilled that Kyle might return to Jabot.
Kyle says it’s a possibility that he could replace Billy, then.
Jack says they haven’t quite reached that possibility.
Kyle says they shouldn’t be having that conversation then. He says he’s got to clean out his office, and he leaves the house.
Jack tells Diane they have a stubborn son who’s lost his sense of patience.
Diane says she might have given him reason to hope. Earlier, Jack had said he was thinking about letting Billy go… If Billy leaves, Kyle returns to Jabot, and they get to work with their son. She doesn’t think there’s anything left to consider.
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Billy enters the club and sees Audra, who says hello.
Billy gets straight to the point. He asks what Tucker is up to.
Audra says she has no idea.
Billy doesn’t believe her.
Audra asks why Tucker would keep her in the loop about his plans.
Billy says they’ve worked together for years and have remained “friends.” He says he needs to know Tucker’s agenda now that Tucker and Ashley aren’t together.
Audra says Billy is probably right; Tucker probably has a plan, but it has nothing to do with her.
Billy tells Audra that if he’s right and Tucker’s situation comes to a head, she should do everything she can to protect herself and stay on the right side.
Audra says she wouldn’t be where she is if she stayed on the right side. She walks away into the dining room.
Society
Tucker walks up to Adam’s table and says hello.
Adam welcomes him back home. He asks how Tucker’s honeymoon went.
Tucker says that Adam over-plays his sarcasm, and subtlety is the better choice.
Adam thanks him for his coaching and gets up to leave.
Tucker tells him to stay. He wants to talk. Adam sits down, and Tucker asks him about the tension he sensed between Billy and Adam.
Adam chuckles and says he and Billy are always at odds.
Tucker says it seems more than just that.
Adam asks why Tucker wants to know. He’s back without Ashley and must be planning to go after the Abbotts.
The GCAC
Kyle walks into the dining room and sees Audra. He thinks about Audra breaking up with him the day before and telling him he was fired. He steels himself and walks over to Audra’s table.
Audra looks up and says hello.
Kyle says he was packing up his office when Audra’s assistant told him that she was having lunch alone at the GCAC.
Audra asks how he’s doing.
Kyle says he’s okay. Actually, he’s better than okay; he’s great. He asks if he can sit with her… Or would that jeopardize her job?
Audra invites him to sit and says they need to talk. She asks if Kyle blames her for what happened.
Chancellor Park
Phyllis paces and thinks back to when Tucker had offered to pay her $2.2 million for working for him, and she had refused.
Phyllis shakes her head and says, “Who am I kidding?” She realizes she has no choice and has to work for Tucker. She promises herself this is going to be the last time.
She sends a text message to Tucker. “I’m ready. On my way.”
Society
Adam tells Tucker he has no stones to throw regarding relationships, but that was the shortest honeymoon he’s ever seen. He asks what happened.
Tucker asks why he’d share anything about his personal life with the man who tried to blackmail him.
Adam says he blackmailed Audra, but the information was also damaging to Tucker. He says he has no animosity toward Tucker but doesn’t trust him.
Tucker says they have that in common. He says he holds no animosity to Adam either… He doesn’t care about him, his family, or Newman Enterprises. His phone pings with the message from Phyllis. He says he’s enjoyed talking with Adam and leaves the restaurant.
The GCAC Dining Room
Kyle tells Audra he doesn’t blame her for firing him… Nikki ordered her to.
Audra says she doesn’t have a choice. She doesn’t appreciate the edge in his voice toward her.
Kyle says he’s surprised at how quickly she turned off her feelings… They went from her hotel suite to being distant acquaintances in the blink of an eye.
Audra says he’s talking like they had a storybook romance.
Kyle says he thought they had something.
Audra says they did… Two consenting adults who were attracted to each other. They had fun, the sex was great, and now they move on.
Kyle says he gets it.
Audra tells him not to look so wounded. His pride might have taken a hit, but his heart is just fine. They both know that he’s not the love of her life, and she’s not the love of his life… That’d be Summer.
Kyle sighs and says that things are over with Summer, and they won’t find their way back to each other.
Audra says she’s sorry and figures that their fling was him trying to get over Summer, but if he looks deep into his heart, he’ll discover that he misses her and still loves her.
Phyllis enters the lobby and says hello to Billy.
Tucker walks in shortly after Phyllis, says hello to Billy and Phyllis, and heads upstairs to his room.
Phyllis walks into the dining room and takes a seat at the bar.
Billy watches her and narrows his eyes in suspicion as he glances up to the stairs leading up to Tucker’s room. He leaves the club.
Phyllis waits until Billy’s gone and runs upstairs after Tucker.
Billy hadn’t left, though… He peers in through the glass door, watching Phyllis go after Tucker.
Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Phyllis knocks at Tucker’s door, and he lets her in.
Tucker asks Phyllis if Billy saw her follow him upstairs.
Phyllis says of course she let Billy see her… She’s that stupid.
Tucker asks what’s with all the sarcasm today.
Phyllis says she’s there to get the information he wanted, but first, Tucker needs to transfer one million dollars into her account.
Tucker smiles.
Next Week on The Young and the Restless
Victor tells Adam he’ll work at Newman Enterprises as Nate’s assistant.
Mamie tells Jack and Traci that she’s back in town for a matter of some importance.
Adam tells Sally he’s not sorry he kissed her and he can’t stop thinking about it.
Danny tells Phyllis that she looks like she just lost her best friend.
