Victor enters the office with a workman who is carrying a large wrapped bundle.

Victor sits on the desk and watches as the worker removes Victoria’s portrait from the office wall.

The workman unwraps Victor’s portrait. He looks at it and raises his eyebrows to Victor, who nods.

Carefully, Victor’s portrait is hung on the wall.

Society

Nate and a frazzled-looking Victoria sit at the bar and talk.

Nate asks if there’s anything he can do to calm Victoria’s nerves about meeting her mother for dinner.

Nate talks to Victoria.

Victoria says she’s not nervous, just anxious. She apologizes and says that the conversation with her mother about Victor’s latest decision won’t be easy. She says she’s concerned about Victor and Nikki should be too.

Nate wonders if Victoria is angry that Victor’s taking the CEO position back and wants to get back at him.

Victoria smiles in response.

The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge

Adam sits at the bar and takes a drink.

He looks a little drunk as he thinks back to his conversation with his dad about how he’d changed.

Adam remembers talking to Victor.

He’d asked to start at the bottom and work his way up in the company through merit.

Adam laughs to himself.

Sally walks into the lounge and asks if he would share the joke.

Sally and Adam.

Adam says he was remembering a string of arguments he had with his father over the past few months.

Sally jokes with him for a minute before getting serious. She says she knows he must be heartbroken by what his dad did to him.

Adam says he’s glad it happened. He got the wake-up call he needed for years.

Adam looks at Sally.
CBS

Sally jokingly checks his temperature and says he doesn’t have a fever.

Adam laughs and says he’s fine. He’s ready to grow up and become an adult.

Sally says it’s about time.

Adam asks if she’s meeting someone.

Sally says she came to get room service before she went upstairs.

Adam asks her to join him for a drink to welcome in the “New Era of Adam Newman.” He promises not to read anything into it if she accepts.

Sally figures she might as well. She sits down and says they will welcome a new era for both of them.

Victoria tells Nate she’s more concerned with her father than she is angry, and she loves him.

Nate says Victor loves her too, and she should keep that in mind.

Victoria says the more she thinks about it, the less she’s surprised. She says it’s troubling that Victor keeps changing the direction he’s taking Newman Enterprises.

Nate tells Victoria that he’ll try to talk her out of retaliating against her father.

Nikki walks in and looks surprised to see Nate there. She asks if he’s joining them for dinner.

Nate says he was keeping Victoria company while she waited for Nikki. He tells her he has to return to the office for an overseas conference call and leaves the restaurant.

Nikki asks Victoria how she’s doing. She’s probably mad at her father for what he’s putting her through.

Victoria says she’s more than mad… She’s worried as hell. She gets up and moves to their table.

Victor looks at his portrait. He shakes his fists in victory.

Victor punches the air.

Victor pours himself a drink and raises his glass to his portrait as Nate walks in and watches him.

Nate says, “I hope I’m not interrupting something.”

Victor laughs and says he isn’t. He sits behind his desk and asks if Nate’s seen Victoria.

Nate says he saw her briefly at Society, where she was meeting Nikki for dinner.

Victor says Victoria and Nate were probably shocked to learn that he had taken back control of his company.

Nate says neither of them saw it coming.

Victor says he wants Nate to know that he didn’t decide to take over because of what Victoria had done as CEO… She did a great job, but Victor felt like it was the right time to take it over again.

Nate says that it’s Victor’s company that he built and should run it as he sees fit.

Victor shakes his fist, showing his iron grip on his company.

Nikki tells Victoria that she can understand that she’s upset about Victor’s changes.

Nikki talks to Victoria.

Victoria says people say “Victor’s changes” as if Victor only rearranged the office furniture. She says she was demoted from a position that she earned and is having a hard time dealing with it.

Nikki says that Victor’s concerned about his company. She’d worry more if he didn’t do anything about it.

Victoria thinks her dad is making contradictory, impulsive, and wrong-headed decisions. She thinks he’s acting irrationally.

Victoria rants to Nikki.

Nikki thinks Victoria’s being unfair and extreme.

Victoria worries that Victor’s not capable of running his own empire anymore.

Nikki is shocked.

The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge

Adam asks Sally if Nick is still out of town.

Sally says Nick still has a few more cities to hit since the Kirsten divisions need more guidance.

Adam talks to Sally.

Adam wishes Victor would realize that real people are affected by his decisions, but Victor thinks it’s all a chess game.

Sally says Adam’s sounding cynical, like his “old” self, not the new one they’re supposed to celebrate.

Adam laughs and says it’s a process. He thanks Sally for calling him out on it.

Sally gives Adam a critical look and says it’s not his first drink. She asks if he was already celebrating before she got there.

Adam laughs and says maybe he had a little bit before Sally arrived.

Sally says Adam can get a little morose when he’s been drinking. She asks if he’s eaten.

Adam holds up his fingers to show he only had a little drink.

Adam says he had a busy day.

Sally says she’s hungry and hasn’t eaten all day herself.

Adam wonders if she’s suggesting they have dinner together.

Sally looks a bit puzzled at herself and says she is.

The GCAC Dining Room

Adam and Sally are seated at a table in the dining room. Adam orders some champagne.

Sally asks why they need more alcohol.

Adam gestures as he talks to Sally.

Adam says they only need a glass each in order to toast their mutual new beginnings.

Sally asks if Adam is serious about his changes… Won’t he get frustrated and give up on changing?

Adam says Sally can’t imagine how determined he is to change.

Sally talks to Adam.

Sally says she doesn’t want to set himself up for failure. She’s pulling for him.

Adam says he’s excited for Sally since she’s starting her own new interior design venture and will be brilliant at it.

Sally says she’ll work as hard as she needs to to prove herself.

Adam and Sally talk.

Adam says neither one of them will fail. He has everything plotted out.

Sally says she wishes he’d found a different way to say that… If he’d said “planned out,” it would sound better… It’s like he’s plotting revenge or something.

Adam says he’s been honest with her, but she still doubts him.

Sally Spectra.

Sally says he keeps slipping up, and his “old” Adam keeps appearing.

Adam says Sally has a flair for the dramatic.

Sally says he should tell her immediately if she needs to worry about him.

Victoria asks her mother why she hasn’t been worried about Victor’s capabilities over the last few months.

Victoria and Nikki.

Victoria recounts how Victor set up Nick, Sharon, and Adam with their own business and changed the rules before it got off the ground. She says that Victor left Adam’s blackmail scheme unpunished and then changed his mind and fired Adam.

Nikki looks concerned but says nothing.

Victoria continues to say that Victor went ahead with the merger after telling Adam it wasn’t happening just a couple of weeks earlier and then offered Sally a position at a new division of Newman Enterprises and ripped the rug out from under her.

Nikki says that Victoria is taking Victor’s decisions out of context. It’s Victor’s company, and he can change his mind if he wants to.

Victoria says Victor is being erratic, there’s no rhyme or reason to his decisions, and there’s no sound business sense behind it. She thinks he’s doing some of it to be vindictive.

Nikki asks Victoria what she’s getting at and wonders how far she’s planning on taking things.

Newman Enterprises

Victor tells Nate that Victoria thinks very highly of his opinion, and so does he. He asks for Nate to calm the waters between him and his daughter.

Nate says it’s a huge change for Victoria, and she needs time to process it. Once she’s settled into her position, she’ll see that it’s a positive move for the company and realize that Victor isn’t punishing her for anything.

Nate stands and talks to Victor.

Victor tells Nate he appreciates his opinion.

Nate says he’ll do everything possible to make the transition go as smoothly. He figures Victor has a lot on his plate and prepares to leave.

Victor tells Nate he shouldn’t leave yet. He asks Nate to pour a drink for himself and take a seat.

Nate Hastings.

Nate does so and says that if Victoria has made up her mind, he won’t be able to change it.

Victor laughs and says Victoria is stubborn. He says Nate should have seen her when she started at the company.

Nate asks what position Victoria held when she started.

Nate pours a drink.
CBS

Victor tells him that she worked in the mailroom. He didn’t want anyone to think he gave her preferential treatment because she was his daughter. He says Victoria knows the company inside-out and never accepted a promotion until she thought she deserved it.

Nate says she’s her father’s daughter. She hit her stride sitting at the top spot in Newman Enterprises.

Nate sits and talks with Victor.

Victor asks Nate for his honest opinion… Does he think Victoria deserves to be in the top position?

Nate says it’s not his place to be in the middle of this. It’s Victor’s decision to make, and Nate is only interested in encouraging Victoria to get past her anger.

Victor asks if Nate thinks Victoria is angry enough to retaliate.

Victor looks at Nate.

Victoria says she’s just venting and doesn’t have any plans up her sleeve to hold onto the CEO position.

Victoria and Nikki Newman.

Nikki’s happy to hear that.

The waiter comes by to pick up their plates. Victoria has barely touched her salad and tells the waiter she’s finished, and he can take it away.

Nikki says she wishes Victoria would eat something.

Victoria talks to her mom.
CBS

Victoria says she’s not hungry and is too upset at Victor. She says she blames Adam for most of it.

Nikki says she won’t get any arguments from her about Adam.

Victoria says that Adam’s shenanigans pushed Victor too far, and his business sense has gone out the window. She says Nikki knows Victor better than anyone… Doesn’t she worry about Victor’s health being affected by the stress of running Newman Enterprises?

Nikki and Victoria Newman.

Nikki says of course she worries about it.

Victoria says they’ll never forgive themselves if the stress causes them to lose Victor.

Nikki promises there’s no chance in hell she’ll allow that to happen.


The GCAC Dining Room

Adam asks Sally why everyone suspects he has a hidden agenda.

Sally smirks.

Adam and Sally.

Adam says she has to trust he’s sincere. He refuses to let the possibility of failure enter his mind.

Sally smiles and raises her glass to him. She says she believes him, and everyone deserves a new beginning.

They clink their glasses in a toast.

Sally smiles as she toasts with Adam.
CBS

Adam says he wants to hear about Sally’s interior design business.

Sally warns him that she’s on a design high… She didn’t expect to find something she loved as much as fashion, and it’s becoming a bit of an addiction. She says she goes through “sketch pad withdrawal” when she’s away from it too long, and the ideas keep pouring out of her.

Adam says he’s seen the sketches, and they’re great.

Adam smiles and takes a drink.

Sally laughs and says she knows.

Adam says it’s so good to see her happy and smiling and to hear her laugh.

Sally says they’ve come a long way from losing Ava, and the new paths they’ve found seem to be a miracle.

Sally smiles and takes a drink.

Adam says he feels reborn, and it’s exciting.

Sally says “reborn” is the perfect way to describe it.

Adam smiles, and they toast once again.

Adam pours the rest of the bottle into Sally's glass.
CBS

A bit later, Adam pours the last of the bottle into Sally’s glass.

Sally laughs and says, “So much for one more glass!”

Adam says they should be ashamed of themselves.

Sally looks at Adam.
CBS

Sally says they probably will be in the morning. Speaking of which, it’s past her bedtime, and she has a busy day tomorrow.

Adam says he has to leave as well. He asks if he can do something he hasn’t done since they were together.

Sally says, “Probably not.”

Adam and Sally link arms.
CBS

Adam laughs and asks if he can walk her to her door.

Sally agrees.

They get up, Adam offers her his arm, and they leave the dining room together. He thanks her for inviting him to dinner and says it means a lot that they can talk and hang out together. He’s missed his friend.

Sally says she missed her friend too. They head upstairs.

Nikki tells Victoria they shouldn’t get ahead of themselves. She says to let her worry about Victor’s health; she’ll talk to him, and he’ll hate it, but that’s never stopped her. She says Victor will be relying on Victoria as his co-CEO so he can focus on reunifying the company.

Victoria wonders if that was Victor’s only reason for coming back as CEO.

Nikki says that’s what Victor told her, and she believes him. She knows that Victor misses getting up in the morning, going to the office, sitting behind his desk, and being productive.

Victoria asks what happens if Victor can’t handle it.

Nikki says they’ll have to wait and see. If she sees a hint of anything affecting his health, she’ll come down on him like the wrath of God. They won’t lose Victoria’s father; she’s on top of it.

Nate tells Victor that he hadn’t had time to talk much with Victoria, but she didn’t mention any thoughts of retaliation.

Victor asks if Nate would have told him if she had.

Victor raises his glass.

Nate says Victor’s putting him in a tough spot. Victor and Victoria are both his bosses, and he’s personally involved with Victoria, so he’s not comfortable being pulled between the two.

Victor raises his glass to Nate and says he understands. They’re good as long as Nate is willing to calm the waters between him and his daughter.

Nate says they’re on the same team to make sure both Victoria and Newman Enterprises come out stronger and more unified than ever after the changes.

The Newman Ranch House

Nikki paces around the living room, thinking.

Victor walks in and hugs her. He tells her that he’s missed her. He says he can tell she needs to talk to him.

Victor and Nikki.

Nikki says he knows her too well. She tells him about her dinner with Victoria and how Victoria felt insulted by her demotion.

Victor hopes Nikki told her there was nothing to be insulted about.

Nikki says she did, but Victoria needs time and space to process it.

Nikki holds Victor closely as they talk.
CBS

Victor says nothing bothers him more than a rift between him and his daughter.

Nikki says she has an idea. He should delay going back to the office for a few weeks. It would give Victoria the time and space she needs. She says that changes are coming in both their lives; Victor is taking over at Newman Enterprises, and she’s taking over Newman Media, which could be very stressful for them both.

Victor says it’s also exciting and stimulating.

Nikki says that’s her point. They should take a long, relaxing trip and spend some time together before their schedules pull them apart. They need it for their health and Victoria’s peace of mind.

Victor looks at Nikki.

Newman Enterprises

Victoria enters the office and throws her purse on the desk.

Victoria holds an empty glass and looks at Victor's portrait.
CBS

She notices the empty glasses on her desk and sniffs one to see what was in it.

Victoria looks up and notices Victor’s portrait hanging on the wall where her own used to be. She pulls her phone out of her purse and texts Nate. “If you’re still here, please come and see me in my office.”

She looks at the portrait, reflecting on her conversation with her father.

Victor had told her she’d still have power, but he was taking back the reins of the company he’d built. Victoria had told Victor he was being unreasonable.

She looks at his portrait and says, “I don’t deserve this, Daddy.”

Nate walks in.

Victoria and Nate.
CBS

Victoria gestures to the portrait and says that her father doesn’t waste any time.

Nate says he was talking to Victor earlier.

Victoria holds up the glasses and says she can see that. She takes the glasses to the drink cart.

Victoria straightens up.
CBS

Nate says he’s trying to keep things calm and peaceful until the dust settles. He says that Victor suspects Victoria is looking for a way to stop him from coming back to Newman.

Victoria figures that Nate agreed with Victor and told him that’s exactly what she’s planning.

Nate asks why she’d think that.

Victoria says Nate doesn’t think her idea is good and only wants to impress Victor by warning him.

Nate says he protected her but thinks it’s the wrong way for her to handle it.

Victoria laughs and says she’s sorry he feels that way; she was waiting for him to come around.

Sally’s GCAC Suite

Adam walks Sally to her door.

Adam and Sally kiss.
CBS

Sally smiles, and suddenly, Adam kisses her. She doesn’t push him away; she kisses him back.

Adam steps back and apologizes. He says it was a mistake.

Sally says it was.

Sally is shocked.
CBS

Adam says it wasn’t him who kissed her; it was his champagne brain. Can they pretend that never happened?

Sally laughs and says, “Pretend what never happened? I don’t know what you’re talking about!”

Adam thanks her. He wishes her a good night.

Sally rests her head on the door.
CBS

Sally awkwardly says good night and goes into her room.

She rests her head against the door as she considers what just happened.
