Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Ashley’s return from Paris sparked a family meeting, Billy warned Nate about Mamie, and Phyllis stirred up trouble with Danny and Christine.
Society
Billy meets with Chelsea. He says he got her message; she seemed a little upset.
Chelsea says she spoke with Connor’s teachers, who gave her details on what was happening with him, and the news was much worse than she thought.
Newman Ranch
Victoria drops by the house and meets with her parents. She asks if her mom is okay.
Victor says Nikki is okay… She’s just feeling under the weather.
Nikki says things aren’t okay. She had her worst stumble yet, and it really scared her.
Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Audra asks Tucker why he can’t let go of Ashley; he’s obsessed with her! She says he told her he was finished with Ashley, but he has the nerve to keep tabs on her!
The Abbott Mansion
Ashley asks Jack why they need to wait for Traci to have a family meeting.
Jack sighs and exchanges a glance with Diane.
Ashley says it’s insulting when they look at each other like that. She says it’s starting to feel like an intervention!
Jack says she’s jumping to conclusions and blowing this out of proportion.
Ashley says they’re obviously concerned about her… What did Traci tell them about Paris? Did she tell them how Tucker bribed the waiter?
Jack says there was more to it than that. He says Traci spoke to the rest of the waitstaff at the cafe, and none of them remembered Tucker being violent. They all remembered the incident, but there was no physical violence.
Ashley can’t believe it… Tucker bought off the whole staff! He’s unbelievable!
Jack and Diane don’t say anything.
Ashley asks if they actually believe Tucker’s version of the story… Have they forgotten who he is? She says Diane understands what Tucker is capable of… He tried to blackmail Diane into taking over Jabot and deals in lies, blackmail, and deception!
Traci enters the house. She’s glad to see Ashley is home safe.
Jack says he filled Ashley in on what happened.
Ashley asks Traci why she went behind her back and questioned the restaurant staff… Then, Traci returned to Genoa City and told everyone about it and excluded Ashley!
Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Tucker tells Audra she’s misinterpreting things. He wanted to know when Ashley was back from Paris so he…
Audra interrupts him and tells him it’s one thing not to trust each other in business, but he can’t keep lying to her in their personal life… He was supposed to be done with Ashley!
Tucker says he is done. Audra is the one he wants to be with!
Audra thinks she’s the one that’s available to him. Tucker only wants Audra because he can’t have the woman he really wants.
Tucker asks if he can talk yet.
Audra won’t let him. She says she’s kept her distance from him. She wanted to believe he meant what he said.
Tucker says he only wanted to know if Ashley was back from Paris so he’d know to avoid her. He doesn’t want anything to get in the way of him and Audra.
Audra asks if he expects her to believe that. She figures Tucker wants to know where Ashley is because he can’t wait to see her again.
Tucker says Audra doesn’t know him… He’s had it with Ashley, and he’s sick to death of her arguments and accusations that he’s gaslighting her. If he sees her in public, he’ll cross the street to stay away from her. He doesn’t want Ashley interfering with what he has with Audra.
Society
Billy asks Chelsea what the school had to say about Connor.
Chelsea says they told him that Connor was struggling and she didn’t know how to help him. The teachers say he’s having problems focusing; it may be nerves or anxiety, and it’s seeping into his every day. They told her it could be a processing disorder, and that’s why he’s distracted in class.
Billy asks if Connor had these types of problems in the past.
Chelsea shakes her head. She says Connor is washing his hands all the time and uses hand sanitizer as well.
Billy wonders if Connor is trying to avoid getting sick so he doesn’t miss school.
Chelsea doesn’t know. She says the school wants her to talk to the on-campus therapist.
Billy takes her hand and says things are always tough with kids. He says she’ll get through it; how can he help her?
Newman Ranch
Victoria asks her mother what happened to make her “stumble.”
Nikki says she had a terrible relapse. She’s dealing with it, but she had a moment of panic and made a mistake.
Victor says the news of the fire at the correctional facility and the possibility that Jordan might have escaped set Nikki off.
Nikki says Jordan has escaped. She asks Victoria if she knew about the fire.
Victoria says she did. They kept it from Nikki because they were trying to protect her.
Nikki says Jordan tried to kill her twice… Why would they keep her in the dark about her possible escape?
Victor says he doesn’t want her to worry about Jordan. Even if she escaped, he’ll ensure she doesn’t come near the house.
Nikki says she has escaped. She has proof that Jordan is alive and is still out for revenge… She’s been getting phone calls again, and she received one this morning with the burlesque song playing in the background.
Victor wonders if it’s possible Nikki imagined the call.
Nikki says she didn’t imagine it. She knows that she’s given her family reason to question her clarity, but they need to take her word on this… Jordan did call her.
Victor and Victoria tell Nikki that she can’t allow Jordan to push her buttons; Nikki is stronger than Jordan, and if she’s out there, she’s weak and desperate. Victoria says Jordan is out of money and is a criminal with the entire police department after her, but Nikki has her family around her, and she’s safe with them.
Nikki thanks them for believing in her. She needs to get some rest and try to forget about her day… But first, she has a confession to make.
Society
Chelsea tells Billy she knows Connor is at the right school to deal with his issues… Chelsea says she has to focus on staying positive, and Adam is doing the same.
Billy thinks it’s great Adam and Chelsea are on the same page.
Chelsea figures Connor is reacting to everything that happened last year… He had to deal with Chelsea’s suicide attempt and finding out that Johnny was his half-brother.
Billy nods. He also moved to a new city and started at a new school.
Chelsea says she talked to her therapist, which was helpful. She says she wouldn’t have been so calm about things a year ago before therapy.
Billy agrees… Chelsea was in a different place a year ago, but look at her now!
Chelsea says a lot of that is because of Billy; he changed her life for the better.
Billy says Chelsea changed his life for the better, too.
Chelsea says it’s enough about her… What’s happening with Billy lately?
Billy jokes that she might not be able to handle it… Does she really want to go there?
Chelsea grins and tells him she can handle it; tell her everything!
The Abbott Mansion
Traci tells Ashley she thought it would be better to tell Ashley about it when she was home and surrounded by family.
Ashley asks why she needs to be surrounded by family. Does Traci think she’s so fragile that she can’t handle it on her own?
Traci says they all need each other; there’s no weakness in that! She says she wanted Ashley to be as far away from the Paris bistro as possible, and that’s why she tried to talk Ashley into coming home with her right away. She thought the family could discuss the ramifications of it together.
Ashley says the only ramifications are that it shows how far Tucker will go to make her think she’s imagining things. He’s taken gaslighting to a new level!
Traci exchanges a helpless glance with Jack and Diane.
Ashley explodes and tells them to “stop looking at each other like that!” She says they’re trying to make her think she’s wrong, and she’s not! Tucker is gaslighting her, and he’s clearly gotten to them, too! She yells at them, asking why they’re doubting her… They all know what Tucker is capable of!
Ashley calms herself. She says it wouldn’t be hard for Tucker to bribe an entire restaurant staff… It’s second nature for him and easy money for the waitstaff.
Jack says nobody is doubting that it’s possible.
Traci says she offered the bistro staff twice as much money as Tucker offered them if they’d tell her the truth. She knows it’s awful and outrageous, but she did it for Ashley. She says not one person took the money because they refused to lie.
Ashley asks if Traci is finished. She says it’s obvious Tucker paid them a lot of money.
Traci asks why the staff would take Tucker’s money but not hers… Tucker would never have to find out; what do they have to gain by lying for him?
Ashley says she doesn’t know… Tucker is powerful and probably threatened them. They caved under pressure… It happens!
Traci says none of the staff were nervous or intimidated. She says Ashley had a look on her face the first time she spoke to the waiter like she remembered something, and it wasn’t what Ashley told them she remembered.
Ashley says she doesn’t doubt anything now and didn’t doubt anything when she spoke to the waiter. She can’t believe they’re taking Tucker’s side. She’s being let down by her family in the most painful way imaginable!
Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Audra tells Tucker he will have to do more than cross the street to avoid Ashley. Neither of them have a kitchen in their suite, which means they eat out on the regular. Unless they both have room service for every meal, they’re bound to run into Ashley.
Tucker nods. It’s a possibility.
Audra says it’s a certainty. Every time they run into Ashley, she’ll see the love/hate written all over Tucker’s face, and each time, she’ll trust Tucker less. She’ll always be questioning where his heart lies.
Tucker says they should buy their own restaurant. They’ll have a single candlelit table for two with their own chef to prepare their meals.
Audra says she can tell Tucker is taking this seriously.
Tucker says he is serious. He’d do anything to make Audra happy!
Audra says she understands Tucker’s frustration with Ashley’s constant accusations, and to be honest, Audra is sick of her, too. She smiles and says they need to stop arguing about Ashley. She can’t help but wonder what Ashley learned in Paris… Maybe it’ll shut Ashley down for good.
Society
Billy tells Chelsea he had a “typically abrasive” encounter with Tucker at the Athletic Club.
Chelsea asks what was so abrasive about it.
Billy says Tucker asked him about Ashley’s whereabouts. He can’t get over Tucker thinking he has a right to know anything about Ashley after the way he treated her! It took a lot to stop himself from knocking some sense into Tucker.
Chelsea laughs.
Billy does his best Tucker impression. “Ashley is the one coming after me! She went to Paris to find dirt on me!” He says Tucker wanted to know where Ashley was so he could avoid her. He says he called Tucker out for playing the victim, but Tucker said he wasn’t a victim and was prepared for someone to try to make him one. He says Tucker said something as he walked away that stuck with him.
Chelsea grins and asks what he said.
Billy says Tucker accused him of being power-hungry, and he’d enjoy watching Billy try to fold Jabot into Chancellor-Winters.
Chelsea laughs and says that’s crazy… Billy would never try anything like taking over his family’s company from the outside!
Newman Ranch
Victor asks Nikki what she has to confess.
Nikki says she bought a bottle of vodka… Her urges were too strong to resist.
Victoria hates that her mom is going through this, but thinks it’s good that Nikki confessed to it.
Nikki says she heard someone coming, so she hid the bottle in the living room, but when she went back to look for it, the bottle was gone.
Victor says he had the staff go through the house and remove any alcohol they found.
Nikki understands why he did that, but she needs to do it on her own… Getting rid of all the alcohol in the house is only a short-term solution. She needs to do the work and build the strength to resist it, but she’s not there yet.
Victoria says nobody is pushing Nikki.
Victor promises Nikki will be alright.
Nikki thanks them for understanding and thanks Victor for understanding about Jack. She heads to bed.
Victoria asks her dad what Nikki meant by thanking him for his understanding about Jack.
Victor says Nikki asked Jack Abbott to be her sponsor, and though he doesn’t like the idea, he went along with it because Nikki is very fragile right now.
Victoria’s incredulous that Jack is her mom’s sponsor now.
Victor says he was worried about Nikki, so he had his security team follow her. He says they found her in some dive bar on the outskirts of town.
Victoria asks if she was drinking alone.
Victor nods. He says Jack told him he had become Nikki’s sponsor after Seth fell off the wagon.
Victoria asks if Jack told Victor about the sponsorship… Not Nikki?
Victor nods. He says he went with Jack to find Nikki at the bar.
Victoria asks if her mom was in bad shape.
Victor says it breaks his heart; Nikki was passed out at a table.
Victoria’s sad… Her mother has fallen so far, and she did it in public.
Victor says Victoria shouldn’t worry about it… He’s made sure the incident was kept quiet. He says Jack allowed Nikki to “drink herself into oblivion.”
Victoria says it’s not fair to blame Jack… Did he even know where Nikki was when he called Victor?
Victor says it doesn’t make a difference if he did. Jack covered for her anyhow!
Victoria says that Jack was protecting Nikki’s wishes by keeping silent.
Victor says the responsibility of a sponsor is to keep a person from drinking.
The Abbott Mansion
Jack tells Ashley that nobody is taking Tucker’s side.
Ashley says it seems like they are. It’s painful to think they’d take Tucker’s word over hers.
Jack says that’s not the case. Whatever happened in Paris doesn’t matter as long as it made Ashley walk away from Tucker for good!
Traci disagrees. The truth that came out in Paris is the most important part!
Jack shakes his head. The most important part is that it opened Ashley’s eyes!
Ashley says that she thinks the most important thing is that she’s being betrayed by her family.
Traci says they love her and want to help her move on from this.
Ashley asks what she can move away from… The lies and betrayal are coming at her from all sides! She thought she’d come home to their love and support, but she’s getting attacked with accusations and suspicions! She asks if they’re questioning her sanity… Is that what’s happening here?
Nobody says a word, and Ashley cries out, grabs her coat, and leaves the house.
Diane says it’s best to let Ashley calm down a bit. She didn’t say anything while they were talking to Ashley, but she has to know… What was the point of all that?
Society
Billy tells Chelsea that he wouldn’t ever consider going after Jabot, but Tucker’s comments stuck with him because it made him think about his relationship with Chancellor-Winters.
Chelsea asks what he means.
Billy says his mother, Jill Abbott, brought him on as co-CEO so he could represent her in the company she owns half of, but she isn’t even in the company name. He thinks Abbott should have more representation in the Chancellor-Winters corporate name.
Chelsea asks if he’s suggesting they change the company’s name.
Billy says he doesn’t want to change the name; he wants to add to it. He thinks Jill feels isolated because she’s not represented in the company.
Chelsea asks what he thinks would be an appropriate name.
Billy says the company should be called Abbott-Winters.
Chelsea asks Billy about the Chancellor name. It’s an important part of the company’s core and a lasting tribute to Katherine Chancellor.
Billy nods. Chelsea has a point. He suggests “ACW” for a name… Abbott-Chancellor-Winters.
Chelsea says she has a feeling that this isn’t just about representing Jill. She thinks it’s about Billy wanting to stake a claim on the company as well!
Newman Ranch
Victor tells Victoria that he may disagree with Nikki’s choice of sponsor, but he didn’t argue, given her fragile state.
Victoria thinks it’s the right call.
Victor says he told Jack that if there’s no significant progress on Nikki’s part… It’s over!
Victoria asks if they should consider rehab if Nikki doesn’t improve.
Victor says he thought about it, but he wants Nikki to be at home, since Jordan is possibly on the loose.
Victoria understands. She asks if there’s been any news about Jordan. Does Victor think that Jordan really has escaped and is calling Nikki?
Nikki tosses in her bed, dreaming.
In Nikki’s dream, she’s sitting outside the Athletic Club, drinking. She’s dressed like a bag lady.
Nikki wakes up. “No!’
The Abbott Mansion
Diane says the issue wasn’t what happened in Paris. What matters most is that Ashley has finally broken free of Tucker.
Jack says that’s what he was trying to impress on Ashley.
Diane says Ashley was so upset when he told her she couldn’t hear it.
Traci asks if Diane is trying to say that Jack and Traci are wrong by trying to get the truth for their sister.
Diane says she wasn’t saying that at all.
Traci says she’s seen that this situation is tearing Ashley apart, but she won’t let it go.
Jack says Tucker’s denial of the situation has Ashley rattled.
Traci tells Jack she’s worried about Traci. She thinks Ashley’s recollection is unreliable, which could be the tip of the iceberg. She wanted everyone together so they could make sense of this so Ashley could go on with her life.
Diane says it only made matters worse; Ashley is more upset than ever. She says their encounter with Ashley was completely counter-productive.
Traci throws up her hands in frustration. “Diane!”
Jack says they need to give Ashley space, as Diane suggested. He says Traci’s right; he’s not sure whether Tucker is messing with Ashley or whether she’s truly confused about what happened in Paris, but it’s tearing her apart.
Traci says there’s only one way for Ashley to move forward and let this go. She needs to find out the truth so Tucker can’t use it against her anymore.
Tucker’s GCAC Suite
Tucker tells Audra he doesn’t care what’s going on with Ashley. He’s only focused on Audra; she has his full attention. He says he’s sorry.
Audra smiles and asks what he’s sorry for.
Tucker says he’s been blind… All this time, he thought Ashley was the one… He thought she was what was good and true in his life, but he couldn’t see that it was Audra all along. He says she’s his best friend.
Audra kisses him, and he responds with passion.
There’s a banging on the door.
It’s Ashley. She calls out for Tucker to open the door.
Society
Billy tells Chelsea he’s finding his groove at work. There’s pressure at the job, but it’s good, unlike when he was at Jabot, where he felt like he constantly had to prove himself to Jack. He’s building a future at Chancellor-Winters, and he likes it.
Chelsea says it sounds like he made the right move.
Billy says he thinks so. For most of his life, he’s been trying to protect his father’s legacy, but this time, he’s protecting his mother’s. He thinks it’d be a tribute to her to include her name on the letterhead.
Chelsea asks if he thinks Lily and Devon would be okay with the change… Jill may own 50% of the company, but would they agree to a third name on the letterhead?
Billy shrugs. He says it’s not about him seeing his name up in lights; it’s about protecting his mother’s legacy.
Chelsea grins and says it’s pretty convenient that he shares the same name.
Billy says the more he thinks about it, the more he thinks it’s the right thing to do. His mother has earned it and deserves it.
Newman Ranch
Victor pours himself a glass of water and tells Victoria there’s been no news of Jordan’s whereabouts.
Victoria shakes her head. It could be Jordan who’s calling Nikki. She relates that Claire told her that Jordan had said she’d use fire as a distraction if things got dicey.
Victor is concerned. He says they’ll know soon whether Jordan died in the fire or not, and if she didn’t, it’s going to be a nightmare. He’ll do everything in his power to make sure she doesn’t come near the Newman house.
Nikki picks up her phone and calls Jack.
Jack asks where she is; is she okay?
Nikki says she’s home and safe and wants him to know she isn’t angry about him telling Victor about being her sponsor. She understands why he had to do it.
Jack says he’s glad to hear it; Victor needed to know.
Nikki says she’s having the worst day since this nightmare started, and she’s worried that she won’t be able to overcome her addiction this time.
Jack tells her not to talk like that; she needs to take it one step at a time. He’s her sponsor, and Victor knows and accepts it. He says he can come to the ranch anytime she needs him. He tells her that he won’t let her give up; she’s going to win this fight!
Nikki says she needs help.
Jack says he’s only a phone call away; he’s there for her.
Diane stands in the doorway, listening. She doesn’t look too happy about Jack’s conversation.
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Ashley sits alone in the dining room, sipping on a martini. She sends Tucker a text message. “I need to see you. Immediately.”
Tucker doesn’t get her message; he’s in bed with Audra.
Ashley takes a sip of her martini and asks the waiter for another.
