Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Jordan’s desperate act challenged Claire, Nikki, and Victoria, while Summer dug into Claire’s past.
Newman Ranch
Nikki offers to make tea for herself, Claire, and Victoria, thinking it might help them sleep.
Claire doesn’t think they’ll sleep after what they’ve been through. She doesn’t want to think about what happened in the basement with Jordan and asks her mother to stay; she wants the three of them together.
Nikki agrees. They need to be together as a family.
Victoria and Claire sit on the couch while Nikki prepares a pot of tea. Victoria mentions that she and Claire went for coffee at Crimson Lights and ran into Summer, Kyle, and Harrison.
Nikki thinks it’s wonderful that Claire finally met one of her cousins. She asks how it went.
Claire says it went fine.
Victoria says Harrison adored Claire the moment they met, which is no surprise since Claire is wonderful with children. She says Claire is funny and doesn’t talk down to kids.
Nikki says it’s a gift that not a lot of people have.
Claire says meeting these relatives she’s read so much about is strange. She says she grew up hating the Newmans for what they had, but at the same time, she wanted it all. She didn’t just want the money, but she wanted the family and the love, too. She says Jordan only showed her one side to the Newmans: the fighting, the crimes, the divorces… She was only supposed to pay attention to anything messy or sordid, but she’s learned there’s so much more to the Newmans!
Nikki says nobody on the outside can know what goes on inside a family… Especially if that family is as complicated as the Newmans.
Victoria says Claire knows now because she is a Newman.
Nikki nods and says the Newmans are loyal and loving and always protect their own.
Claire says she admires them both.
Victoria says that’s such a nice thing to say about them.
Nikki says Claire’s seen how they are as a family and doesn’t want Claire to be anyone other than who she is.
Claire looks at a picture of Nick, Nikki, Victor, and Victoria. She says she grew up knowing she was related to the Newmans but knew she wasn’t one of them. She always dreamed of being included and wonders what her life would have been like if she’d been in those family photos. Who would she have been?
Nikki says she’s one of them now, and Jordan can never take that away.
The three of them share a group hug.
Claire yawns.
Victoria says it’s been a long day and suggests they get some rest. She says goodnight and heads to bed.
Nikki hugs Claire and kisses her, wishing her a good night. She leaves the living room and goes to her bedroom.
Claire snuggles up in a blanket on the couch. A tear runs down her cheek, and she falls asleep.
It’s morning, and the sun is shining. Claire wakes up and rubs her eyes.
Victor walks into the living room and says hello, asking why she’s sleeping on the couch. He says it’s time to have breakfast at the Athletic Club.
Claire asks how long she was asleep.
Victor tells her it was too long. He says she needs to get up; the whole family is waiting for her!
Claire wonders why they’re waiting for her.
Victor says she shouldn’t need to ask; she’s done this dozens of times!
Claire is confused… Dozens?
Victor says they all had breakfast together since Claire was in a baby seat with a little pancake in front of her.
Claire shakes her head. “Baby seat?”
Victor says he has to stop by the office before he joins her for breakfast. He says he’ll see her later. He calls her Eve. He leaves.
Claire gets up and leaves the living room. The family’s picture is shown, this time including “Eve.”
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Claire walks into the club and hears a stream of chatter and laughter from the dining room.
Abby and Summer notice her and wave her over. “Eve, over here!”
Claire wanders over, and they both hug her, squealing.
Summer says she’s happy she’s there early… They can have a little girl talk before everyone gets there!
Abby says she was talking with Summer about their time in Cabo… They need to go back to that resort every year!
Claire asks what the highlight of their vacation was.
Abby and Summer can’t figure out whether it was the food or the pool.
Summer asks Abby if she’s shown Eve “that picture” yet.
Abby laughs… Not yet! She says she’ll text it to her; it’s a little blurry, but so was Eve!
Summer says Eve didn’t even need “all the tequila” to get up and dance.
Abby agrees. Eve’s laughter could be heard across the room from the dance floor.
Claire is amazed… They like her? She’s fun?
Abby and Summer die laughing. Abby tells her to stop fishing for compliments.
Summer says everyone knows Eve is the “most fun” Newman… And the most fashionable!
Abby says that’s because Summer set her up with Marchetti’s best lines.
Summer says nobody looks more gorgeous in Marchetti’s clothes than Eve, and somehow, Eve is the most level-headed of all of them!
Abby pouts and says Eve looks better than her in the clothes.
Claire thanks them.
Abby and Summer tell her that she’s the best cousin… Even in boarding school, she got top grades.
Nick and Cole walk into the club. Nick takes a seat, and Cole hugs his daughter. Everyone is happy and smiling.
Summer asks Nick who won the game.
Nick says Cole won… But only because racquetball isn’t a real sport; if it were basketball or anything else, he would have won.
Cole laughs and says Nick is dreaming.
Nick asks the “three amigas” how Mexico treated them.
Abby and Summer say they had a blast, and pictures are available upon request—some of them, anyway!
Cole asks if any of the pictures would make a father worry.
Summer laughs… All of them?
Cole laughs and promises not to tell Eve’s mom.
Nick says he’s trying to remember when he didn’t see one of them without the other two.
Cole says they’re inseparable.
Abby says there was a time when she and Summer had their differences.
Summer laughs and says Abby slept with her husband.
Abby shrugs. At least that was the only drama that year!
Summer says Eve played peacemaker and brought them back together.
Claire smiles and says she’s glad she could help.
Nick says it was like that with Eve’s sports teams, too… If her volleyball team weren’t doing well, Eve would find a way to rally the troops and snatch victory from defeat!
Cole says that’s one of Eve’s many talents. She’s a natural leader!
Nick says he enjoyed it when Eve was out of town on her book tours; he got to step in and coach, which he loved. He says he doesn’t play favorites with his nieces and nephews, but he’d name Eve if he did.
Abby suggests they switch from coffee and have some drinks.
Summer agrees. They need champagne… Mimosas, in fact! She waves to a waitress and calls for drinks.
The waitress turns around. It’s Jordan!
Time freezes around Claire, and the only ones moving are Claire and Jordan. Claire stands up and closes her eyes for a moment. The air shimmers around her, she sits back down, and time flows again. Jordan is gone.
Cole tells “Eve” that he remembers the first time they went camping together as a family. Eve was four or five years old, and they cooked smores by the fire until the sun went down. However, Eve was more interested in chasing lightning bugs. Eve brought the fireflies to her mom, but they’d fly out of her hands whenever she tried to show them.
Everyone laughs.
Abby tells a story about how Eve was about eight years old, and at one of Victor and Nikki’s weddings, Eve ran out and caught the bouquet.
Nick laughs and says Eve’s mom was sure that she’d be the one who got married next.
Abby says Eve couldn’t wait to get rid of the flowers after she heard that.
Nick says Eve was in the “boys are icky” phase.
Summer laughs and says Eve learned, though… When Eve was her maid of honor at her wedding in Milan, Summer threw the bouquet right at her, but Eve refused to catch it, and Faith caught it instead.
Claire is amazed by how much of her life they remember. There were so many happy times!
Summer tells her not to cry about it.
Nick grins and says it looks that way to him.
Cole says his baby girl was always a softie.
Abby says not to let Eve fool them… The “Naked Heiress” thing wouldn’t have happened the same way without Eve; that was after Eve had tried to talk her out of it, of course.
Claire says she read about it… There was a horse!
Summer says Eve didn’t need to read about it; she was the one who brought the horse!
Claire nods. “That’s right, I did!”
Devon enters the dining room and walks up to the table. Everyone cheers and welcomes him.
Summer changes seats and sits beside Cole so Devon can sit with Abby. She tells Devon that they were just telling their favorite Eve stories.
Devon says he loved it when Eve showed up to Dominic’s birthday party in the park wearing a head-to-toe dinosaur costume; it made Dom’s big day even more special!
Cole says he promises that today will be just as special, if not more so.
Claire asks what he means by that.
Nick laughs and says she doesn’t need to worry about that.
Summer wonders why they haven’t gotten their champagne yet.
Nick shrugs. They ordered it a while ago.
Abby wonders if they had to go to the wine cellars to get the right vintage.
Adam walks up, dressed as a waiter, nametag and all. He asks if there’s a problem.
Claire is surprised. “You work here?”
Nick grins and says that’s the problem right there.
Adam says he couldn’t get a better job after Eve turned him in to the police.
Abby says Eve turned him in twice.
Adam reminds them he was cleared on all charges, but it did tank his business career. He sardonically thanks Eve for it, saying he knows she earned extra brownie points with Victor for “protecting the family.”
Nick says it’s a good thing Eve protected the family.
Adam tells Claire she must not realize the effect she’s had on so many people’s lives.
Abby grins and says it’s been good… For most of them.
Summer clears her throat and asks Adam about the champagne.
Adam says he’s on it. He leaves, and Nick thanks him.

Mariah shows up at the club and apologizes for being late. Everyone cheers. Mariah’s twin sister, Cassie, walks in as well. Mariah hugs her, happy that she made it.
Cassie says she wouldn’t have missed the celebration for the world and takes a seat.
Nick and Abby say they’re waiting on champagne, but Adam is taking his sweet time.
Mariah and Cassie sit at the head of the table.
Devon says it’s been a while since he’s seen them… How are they?
Cassie and Mariah exclaim, “Great!” and “Fantastic!”
Claire stares at them both. “Cassie, you’re…”
Cassie asks what she is.
Mariah tells her to spit it out.
Claire shakes her head. Never mind. She says she’s glad Cassie is there.
Summer says not to mind Eve… Her head is in the clouds today!
Cassie says Eve’s head is always in the clouds. She recalls babysitting Eve when Cole and Victoria went out on date night.
Mariah says that was before she came to town and found Cassie. Cassie was in high school, but Mariah was in a cult! They laugh.
Sharon walks in and kisses Nick on the cheek in greeting before sitting beside Cassie. She asks if she missed anything.
Claire looks at her suspiciously… What is there to miss?
Devon asks Mariah if Tessa is home with Aria.
Mariah says Aria is still home with the sniffles. She says she’s going to check in with Tessa to see if she can bring anything home for them. She gets up and leaves the table.
Nick tells Sharon she looks beautiful. He kisses her cheek and nuzzles her neck.
Sharon tells Eve that Faith and Noah send their best.
Claire asks Nick and Sharon to remind her how long they’ve been back together.
They look confused. Nick says they’ve been together since before Eve was born.
Claire nods. Right.
Sharon asks “Eve” how her kindergarten classes are going. Everyone’s raving about how good Eve is with kids.
Summer and Abby agree. She is amazing with children.
Sharon hopes Eve will teach Aria when she’s old enough to attend school. She says one of Eve’s students is here right now.
Harrison runs up to Eve, grinning, and says hello.
Kyle walks behind him, saying Eve is Harrison’s favorite teacher.
Summer kisses Kyle and says she’s glad her husband and Harrison could finally join the party.
Claire looks around… Party? She says Victor said it was a family breakfast… Are they always like this?
Everyone laughs.
Summer tells Harrison she sees his friend Bobby, and she heads over with Kyle and Harrison to talk to him.
Nikki and Victor walk in. Nikki tells Eve that Victoria’s on her way; she stopped to pick up something special for her.
Claire asks what the occasion is… Why is she the center of attention?
Everyone laughs.
Nikki says she’s awfully inquisitive this morning.
Victor says Eve has been inquisitive her entire life.
Nikki says it’s true; when she was teaching Eve to ride, she had so many questions. They knew she was special then, and that was before she became a championship rider.
Victor says ambition and faith can make a person achieve a lot.
Claire says they supported her every step of the way.
Nikki and Victor nod. “Of course!”
Victor says he wants to finish the chess game they started, but this time, he doesn’t want her to take it easy on him.
Claire laughs. She won’t!
Victoria walks into the party carrying balloons.
Claire asks what’s going on.
Cole grins and says she couldn’t think they’d forget about her birthday, did she?
Everyone yells, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” and cheers.
Claire apologizes for getting so emotional.
Everyone “awwwwwws.”
Nikki tells her never to apologize for getting emotional; it means she’s truly alive!
Cole tells Eve the day she was born was one of the most special of their lives.
Victoria agrees, saying it was one of the scariest days of their lives, too.
Claire asks if it was scary because she was premature.
Victoria says she was fragile, but she was warmth and love for them, and she thinks that helped Eve survive the first few days after she was born.
Nick and Sharon say they prayed a lot.
Nikki tells Eve to never underestimate the power of love.
Cole says it all paid off… They were able to take Eve home healthy and strong, and she was pure love from that moment.
Claire says it’s more than she could ever ask for… If it’s a dream, she doesn’t want to wake up!
Cole says he has something for her in honor of her birthday… It’s his latest book; don’t get too excited!
Everyone laughs, and Cole hands Eve the book. He says he left a dedication in the book for her.
Claire opens the book, and her mother urges her to read it. Claire reads: “To my beloved daughter, Eve Newman Howard. My pride, my joy, and my truest inspiration.” She tears up and hugs her dad, smiling.
Victor says champagne and sparkling cider are on the way.
Nikki says they’ll have a toast, and then they’ll order breakfast.
Nick says there’s a dad joke in “toast” and “breakfast”; he just needs a minute to figure it out.
Everyone laughs, and Summer says they’ll be waiting with bated breath.
Adam walks in and says he’s sorry for the delay; drinks are arriving.
Everyone is excited until they suddenly freeze. Only Claire is moving.
Jordan walks in, the only other moving figure in the frozen time. She’s pushing an I.V. pole with two bags full of vodka on it. She grins and says she doesn’t need to ask who this is for.
Claire closes her eyes and tries to make her Jordan disappear.
Jordan laughs and says Claire can’t wish her out of existence… It doesn’t work that way!
Claire rushes over to Jordan and says she can’t be here. She won’t let her ruin it for her!
Jordan says “sweet little Claire-bear” sounds pathetic. Next thing you know, she’ll be saying her name is Eve.
Claire says Eve was the name her parents gave to her, and Jordan took it from her like she took everything else. She says she has her life back now, and it’s in spite of Jordan.
Jordan says if she wants it that badly, she’ll have to come and fight for it. She leaves the dining room.
Claire takes a look around at the frozen tableau before following Jordan.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Claire walks down the stairs into the jazz lounge and sees a porcelain Victorian doll on a table. She approaches the doll and sees that it has a single drop of blood running from its eye.
Jordan says this isn’t Claire’s life. It’s a fantasy… A dream that will disappear into the wind. This isn’t what she taught Claire.
Claire tells Jordan she only taught her lies and how to hate and hurt people. She says Jordan never taught her how to love.
Jordan says she loved Claire and was her entire world until Claire decided to throw her out and get rid of her. She says Claire apparently only wanted ponies and party clothes.
Claire says she’s wrong.
Jordan says she’s not. Claire needs to do her research on “those people upstairs” and read the facts about their sordid lives. She needs to read how they cheated and robbed each other; that’s who the Newmans are, and this is who Claire chooses to be with?!
Claire says the Newmans chose her, too. They consider her to be one of them.
Jordan says it’s only a dream, and the Newmans will show her their true colors; they don’t want her to have this life. They rejected Claire!
Claire says they may not be perfect, but neither is Jordan. She says they try to learn from their mistakes and try to be better. Unlike Jordan, they don’t spew poison and plan revenge.
Jordan says it’s not revenge; it’s justice, and Claire knows that in her heart.
Claire says nothing Jordan says matters anymore; she’s trying to avenge someone who died decades ago and doesn’t need avenging.
Jordan says Claire needs to show some respect; she’s talking about her sister… Claire’s grandmother!
Claire says that’s Jordan’s fantasy world. Jordan is determined to get revenge for something she wasn’t even a part of; it doesn’t even make sense! She says Jordan is so obsessed with it that nothing else exists for her, and there is no joy in her life.
Jordan says she finds joy in the prospect of destroying the Newmans.
Claire says Jordan’s wasted her life and will never have anything good. It’s too late for her.
Jordan says she’s forgetting something… She’s Claire’s Aunt Jordan, and she’s unstoppable! She brought a prison to its knees, got the high-and-mighty Nikki Newman back on booze, and then burned “sweet Victoria’s” home to the ground… And she’s not finished yet; there’s a lot more to burn!
Claire asks what that’s supposed to mean.
Jordan says Claire has forgotten where she came from and who made her that way. She says she changed Claire’s life, and she can do it again.
Claire says she’s going back to her birthday celebration with her real family; the Newmans, who actually love her.
Jordan says the Newmans have brainwashed her.
Claire says Jordan was the one who brainwashed her, but she broke free, and now she has a chance to build a real life for herself, and Jordan can’t mess it up for her and hurt her anymore. She stalks away and tells Jordan to “go to hell.”
The room shifts, and Claire looks around. Jordan and the Victorian doll are gone. Claire smiles and walks back up the stairs.
The GCAC Dining Room
Claire walks into the dining room from the lobby and passes Adam, who calls out for “Eve” to stop. She asks what he wants.
Adam says it may work on “them,” but it won’t work on him. He says Eve needs to work on her poker face.
Claire laughs and asks what he’s talking about.
Adam says Eve is more like him than anyone knows.
Claire asks if he’s saying this because she got him arrested or because she warned Victor that Adam didn’t have the family’s best interests at heart. Does he think she deliberately sabotaged him?
Adam says the facts are the facts.
Claire says she didn’t set him up; that’s on him. She has the family’s best interests at heart and wants to keep the family safe and make things right.
Adam says everyone sees a happy, smiling Eve, but he sees past it… She has a dark streak, and if she let it out, she’d be a force to be reckoned with.
Claire says she and Adam aren’t alike… He can’t change, and she already has. She walks away and sits at the table. The lights turn back on, and everyone unfreezes.
Summer says they have to do “the tradition.”
Kyle isn’t sure if he knows what the tradition is.
Nikki explains that Eve started it when she was around Harrison’s age; they had asked Eve to blow out the candles on her birthday cake and make a wish, but she said she had everything she wanted, and other people could have her wishes. They went around the table, and whoever had a wish could make one; it’s a tradition now.
Cole asks if Eve is ready; she knows the drill!
Claire says this year, she’s happy to report she has everything she wants and needs; everyone is welcome to her wishes!
Nikki asks who has a wish to make.
Devon asks Abby if she’s thinking what he’s thinking…
Abby grins and says she’s wishing for a baby brother for Dominic.
Summer laughs and says Devon and Abby stole their wish.
Kyle grins and says they wish for a baby brother or sister for Harrison.
Mariah says she wishes Cassie will always be as happy as she is today.
Cassie says, “Back at you, sis!”
Sharon asks what Nick wishes for.
Nick says he does have a wish, but he wants to ask everyone something important first… “How does a pickle celebrate its birthday?”
Everyone groans.
Nick laughs in triumph. “It relishes every moment!”
Everyone laughs as Nick celebrates his “great” dad joke.
Sharon says she has a wish for Eve… She hopes Eve’s year is filled with laughter, joy, and love. She says coffee is free for her for the rest of the month.
Claire thanks her; that’s sweet.
Victor raises his glass and wishes his entire family a happy, wealthy, and healthy year ahead.
Everyone raises their glass in a toast. “Well said!”
Cole asks if Eve is sure she has everything she wants… Isn’t there something she’s wishing for?
Claire stands up and says she’s blissfully happy to be there with them as part of their wonderful family, but she wishes…
The Newman Ranch
Claire sits up on the couch. It’s still dark. She calls out, “Mom?”
Victoria walks into the room in her pajamas. She asks if Claire had a bad dream.
Claire looks at the family picture; it doesn’t include her. She asks her mom to sit with her.
Victoria hugs her and comforts her. She says it’s a hard time whether they’re awake or asleep. She wonders how long it will be before they can all rest easy.
Next Week on The Young and the Restless
Heather asks Lily if she’s going to fire her. Lily says she hasn’t made up her mind yet.
Audra tells Tucker to let her go. Tucker releases Audra’s arm, and Nate steps up. “You heard the lady!”
Diane tells Kyle she’s his superior… He reports to her, not the other way around!
Kyle smirks and says to forgive him for overstepping.

Well Claire thinks her life as a Newman will be sweet rose and perfume. Well miss Thang better hold on, it’s going to be anything but. Especially when the Newman’s are just standing around watching her aunt dying allegedly.
So if Nick and Sharon never split up in this fantasy, how does Summer exist?
Y’all writers have smoked one too many blunts because today’s episode was beyond stupid. It was a wasted episode!
100% accurate! Waste of an hour.
Never was this episode stupid! It was very very rewarding watching! Don’t give advice if it’s just plain rotten! Your watching the soaps!
