Today’s Young and the Restless recap airs in the USA on Monday, March 18, 2024, and airs one day ahead in Canada. We post our Y&R recaps every weekday!
Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Tucker spurns Ashley’s advances, but Audra is done with him; Harrison favors Claire when Kyle and Summer seek a nanny.
Dr. Alcott’s Office
In the waiting room, Adam asks Connor to tell him what’s going on in his head.
Connor says he hates the doctor, hates being at the office, and he hates himself.
Chelsea tells him it hurts her to hear that… He’s the most wonderful boy on the planet!
Adam says he’s upset, and they understand, but he can’t mean he hates himself. He says people say things when they’re upset and angry that they don’t really mean. He explains that he’s been through similar situations where things were out of his control, but things got better for him, and they will get better for Connor, too.
Connor doesn’t say anything.
Adam understands why Connor doesn’t want to go to the doctor’s to discuss his problems, but this will help him, and they’ll get through it together. He says he and his mom will do anything to give Connor the best life they can.
Society
Billy is sitting at a table talking on the phone when Ashley walks in and sits at the bar. Billy notices her and finishes his call. He heads over and says hello.
Ashley smiles broadly. “Hey bro, what’s up?”
Billy smiles and says, “Hey, sis.” He asks if everything is okay.
Ashley grins uncomfortably.
Newman Ranch
Victor and Nikki sit and talk in their living room. Victor says Jordan thought she had him where she wanted him, but she was overconfident, as always.
Nikki smiles and says he turned the tables on her.
Victor says he couldn’t have done it without Nick’s help; Nikki should have seen the look on Jordan’s face when she realized she’d been had!
Nikki is glad it’s over, and nobody in their family got hurt. She says Victor took a risk and it could have turned out differently.
Victor says he was protecting his family; of course he’s going to take a risk! It’s no big deal; it worked out, and Jordan can’t hurt them anymore.
Nikki says Jordan is the devil, and she’s suffering in a hell of her own making. It couldn’t happen to a more deserving person!
Crimson Lights
Victoria tells Summer, Kyle, and Harrison that it’s so nice that Claire is able to meet her relatives.
Summer can’t believe Victor and Nikki haven’t had a family dinner yet.
Victoria says things have been hectic, but she’s grateful for every minute she spends with her daughter.
Summer says she was looking forward to meeting Claire but feels out of the loop… How did this all happen?
Victoria says it’s complicated, and they were waiting to share the details until they were ready. She explains that she and Cole thought they’d lost their daughter, but someone deceived them, and Claire was alive all these years; they’d never have stopped looking for her if they’d known things weren’t as they seemed. Claire was determined to find her parents and found them after years of research. They’ve done a DNA test, which was a match, and now they can move forward as a family.
Kyle asks who the person is who took Claire.
Victoria says “that person” doesn’t deserve any more of their attention.
Kyle says he read that Claire was recently released from the hospital. He hopes she’s okay.
Claire smiles and says she’s fine; it’s been a lot to process. She says, “Your family has been…”
Victoria interrupts and corrects her. “Our family.”
Claire nods. Our family. She says they’ve been very supportive.
Summer is happy for them but thinks there’s more to the story than they’re telling.
Victoria says there a specifics that they should save for another time.
There’s silence at the table until it’s broken by Harrison, who asks why everyone stopped talking.
Claire asks Harrison how many marshmallows he has in his drink.
Harrison counts, “1, 2, 3, 4.”
Claire says she only has two marshmallows; she’s been cheated! What’s up with that?
Newman Ranch
Nikki says she can only imagine how frightened and desperate Jordan feels; she’s locked up in a room and cut off from the rest of the world. She laughs and says she doesn’t have to imagine… She lived it thanks to Jordan, and now Jordan is living it thanks to Victor.
Victor says it’s amazing how sick Jordan is… She has no problem imprisoning and torturing people she considers enemies.
Nikki hopes Jordan is feeling every bit of terror she felt when Jordan had kept her prisoner.
Victor says it’s poetic justice.
Nikki thinks prison is too good for Jordan.
Victor agrees. Much too good.
Nikki asks if he still plans to have Jordan put in jail.
Victor nods and says Jordan will pay for what she’s done.
Nikki hopes so. She says that she needs to see Jordan before the authorities arrest her.
Victor says that’s ridiculous.
Nikki wants to confront Jordan for the last time… Face-to-face.
Dr. Alcott’s Office
Connor sanitizes his hands and paces around the waiting room before returning to his chair.
Chelsea tries to interest Connor in a video about soccer, but he doesn’t want to watch. She and Adam move to the other side of the room to talk. She tells Adam that Connor was quiet and nervous before arriving at the doctor’s office. She’s done everything to calm him down, but he won’t listen to anything she has to say.
Connor says he can hear them talking.
Adam says they’re not trying to hide anything from him… They’re trying to help figure out what’s going on with him.
Connor asks why they don’t just ask him. It would help him if they could just leave the doctor’s office.
Chelsea tells him it’s too important. He told Billy he felt safe at the doctor’s office, and that’s a good thing.
Connor says the doctor will only talk, and it won’t help him.
Chelsea says it takes time to help.
Connor asks how much time it will take… He hates being there!
Adam says Connor has a point… Maybe they should listen to their son. Would it be terrible to cancel today’s session? He’s not in the mood to talk to anybody, and they’ll be wasting everyone’s time.
Chelsea, in no uncertain terms, says, “No.”
Adam says Connor needs to have some control over his life… They could go see a movie and make it up tomorrow!
Chelsea says they can’t set a precedent like that… Connor needs this, and so do they. They need it now, not when Connor or Adam feel like it.
Adam says it’s not about him.
Chelsea says that’s right… It’s not about him!
Dr. Alcott opens the door and asks them to join her.
Connor begs his parents not to go through with it.
Chelsea tells him it’s too important. The doctor is ready to see them and will help him get better, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.
Adam says he’s with Chelsea on this; they can see a movie afterward.
Connor reluctantly agrees.
Adam tells the doctor he will sit in on today’s session; this situation requires both of Connor’s parents’ presence.
Society
Ashley tells Billy everything with her is good… Why wouldn’t it be?
Billy says Ashley’s hit some “rough spots” lately, and he and Jack are concerned about her.
Ashley says that’s sweet, but she has everything under control.
Billy asks if that means Tucker is completely out of her system.
Ashley groans and says Tucker is “such a jerk.” She’s totally over him, and so is… She fumbles her words, saying it’s all good.
Billy asks her to finish her sentence… “So is… Who?”
Ashley says she was saying that she’s over Tucker… He’s gross! The family is over Tucker, aren’t they? If Billy isn’t over him, he should be… Good riddance!
Billy says he’s over Tucker, and the family has been over Tucker for a long time, but he knows it’s been challenging for Ashley to move on… Maybe she has a handle on it now, though.
Ashley nods. She says it wasn’t easy, but she did it!
Billy asks Ashley what’s going on; she doesn’t sound like herself.
Dr. Alcott’s Office
Dr. Alcott asks Connor how he’s feeling today.
Connor answers tersely. He’s fine.
Dr. Alcott asks if having a name for what he’s going through has helped him understand what’s happening.
Connor says he doesn’t want to talk about it; he doesn’t even want to be there!
Chelsea asks Connor to tell Dr. Alcott what he said in the waiting room.
Adam encourages him to talk to the doctor about his feelings.
Connor doesn’t see the point.
Adam says the doctor knows things they don’t, like how to deal with his emotions.
Chelsea says he should talk about how he wanted to leave the office instead of having his session. She asks Connor to stop playing with his hoodie and focus on the conversation.
Connor says none of them get it; they don’t understand!
Dr. Alcott tells Chelsea she shouldn’t look at Connor’s preoccupation with his hoodie as something he’s doing but as something that manifests because of the OCD. She says it’s important to view the OCD as a separate entity, which will help them work out the tools that Connor needs to deal with it.
Adam is relieved there’s something practical they can do about it. He asks what the tools are that the doctor is talking about; they need to know what they can do to help Connor beat it!
Newman Ranch
Victor tells Nikki he thinks her wanting to confront Jordan is a horrible idea.
Nikki says she doesn’t want to wait for Jordan to be in a courtroom or a prison waiting room… She wants to confront her where she knows she’ll feel completely vulnerable and at Nikki’s mercy, just like Jordan did to her!
Victor says Nikki should let Jordan suffer the fate that’s befallen her.
Nikki says Jordan is locked up and can’t do anything to hurt her.
Victor asks what Nikki’s aim is here… What does she want to do?
Nikki says she won’t strangle Jordan, as tempting as that may be.
Victor says he has other concerns; he doesn’t want it to trigger Nikki into drinking again.
Nikki says this will give her the strength to stay sober; this is her opportunity to reclaim her power and put this nightmare behind her. She needs to do it.

Crimson Lights
Summer says it must be shocking and new for Claire, but she couldn’t have fallen into a more loving or loyal family.
Claire says everyone is brilliant, strong, and loving… Her new family is more than she ever could have wished for.
Victoria says it makes her happy to hear Claire say that.
Kyle asks what Claire’s plans are… Is she going to stick around Genoa City and get to know everyone?
Summer hopes so. They’ve got a lifetime of catching up to do!
Kyle figures Claire might go back to work as Nikki’s assistant or do another job at Newman Enterprises.
Summer says all Newmans are expected to return to Newman Enterprises a few times in their career; it’s like a home base.
Claire laughs.
Victoria says it’s kind of true, but Claire’s future is up to her… No pressure!
Claire says she’s still figuring it out. She had a conversation with Nikki about it earlier, and figures she’ll try to find a way to work with children. She finds their inquisitive minds fascinating.
Victoria gets a message from Victor. He wants her and Claire to come back to the ranch. She says they should leave.
Dr. Alcott’s Office
Dr. Alcott tells Chelsea and Adam that she knows they’re anxious to help their son, but they need to set some expectations. She says it’s important to know there’s no “miracle cure” for OCD, so they can’t talk in terms of “beating this.”
Adam wonders why they’re at the doctor’s office if nothing can be done for Connor.
Dr. Alcott says they’ll treat the disorder so that the symptoms are manageable.
Chelsea asks what they can do to help Connor.
Dr. Alcott says one of the best treatments is “residential therapy,” where Connor would be introduced to a safe, controlled environment for therapy and ERP.
Chelsea asks what “ERP” stands for.
Dr. Alcott explains that it stands for Exposure and Response Prevention. Exposure means that Connor will confront images, thoughts, objects, and situations that make him anxious or trigger his obsessions. He needs to face the stressors face-on instead of hiding from them or pretending they don’t exist.
Chelsea nods. So if Connor identifies his triggers, he can work on fixing them?
Dr. Alcott nods; that’s the Response/Prevention part of ERP. Once Connor has trained himself to identify his triggers, he can learn how to control the compulsive behavior. She says it’s done under the guidance of a therapist at first, but his parents will learn how to do their own ERP exercises to manage the symptoms. She says that the therapy retrains a person’s brain, so the object of the obsession isn’t a threat anymore.
Adam is concerned that they’re going to expose Connor to things that make him anxious intentionally.
Dr. Alcott says it may sound counterintuitive, but they’ll be working with a trained ERP doctor and devising a plan for the exposure. At that point, the therapist will coach Connor through the confrontation and help him find ways to resist the urge to engage in the compulsive behavior.
Chelsea nods. It sounds like it makes sense.
Adam asks if the treatment will work.
Dr. Alcott says the treatment has been proven successful and effective for patients like Connor who have OCD, and it’s done in the same type of school he’s already in.
Connor says it’s not a school; it’s a hospital for sick people!
Society
Ashley asks Billy who she sounds like since she doesn’t “sound like herself.”
Billy says he’s not sure… He says she doesn’t sound like herself, especially when she talks about Tucker.
Ashley asks why she needs to feel her feelings; she’s her own person!
Billy says breakups are hard, but she doesn’t have to cover up for him.
Ashley says she’s okay.
Billy is suspicious. He says she’s never called him “bro” in her life… What’s up with that?
Ashley says she was trying to be cool. Epic fail! She just made a “grand miscalculation.”
Billy looks at Ashley suspiciously when his phone pings. It’s a notification from Devon. “Where are you? Board meeting begins shortly.” He tells Ashley he has to go; he’s got a board meeting at Chancellor-Winters.
Ashley tells him, “Good luck with that.”
Billy says he’s going to need the luck; things are tense at the office right now. Billy and Devon aren’t seeing eye-to-eye, and Billy worries things will get worse.
Ashley nods and starts rambling. She says corporate infighting is bad for everything that happens… In the corporation. Billy should, um, stay out of the boxing ring because it’s… Beneficial for everyone!
Billy looks at her with concern; is she okay??
Ashley protests that she’s fine… Why does he keep asking her that? She tells him to stop worrying about her.
Billy says he’ll try. He leaves the restaurant.
“Ashley” orders a ginger ale with a cherry. She sighs. “That was a close one.” She takes her drink and sits down at a table.
Voices in Ashley’s head start talking, vying for her attention. She clutches her head and mutters under her breath, “No. I’m not going back in!” She says their plan is too dangerous, and she can protect Ashley.
The Abbott Mansion
Kyle, Summer, and Harrison walk in. They’re talking about what a good time they had, getting a new book and some hot chocolate.
Harrison says Claire is funny, too. He says they’re friends now; when can he see her again?
Summer says she really likes Claire, too, but she doesn’t know when they’ll see her again; she seems a little busy right now!
Newman Ranch
Victoria and Claire rush into the living room. Victoria asks her father if something is wrong… Why’d he text her to come over right away?
Nikki asks if Victor thinks Victoria will talk her out of it.
Victoria asks what she’s supposed to talk her mom out of.
Victor says that Nikki wants to confront Jordan and wants Victor to stand back. He tells Victoria to tell her mom it’s a bad idea; she won’t find the satisfaction she wants!
Nikki says she needs to find it out for herself. She says she needs to confront Jordan face-to-face to let her know that she will never destroy her or her family; it’s the only way Nikki can regain her power!
Victoria says she agrees with her mom and supports her plan.
Claire says she may not have a vote in this, but she supports Nikki as well. It shouldn’t be one-on-one, though; she wants to go with Nikki to confront Jordan.
Victoria says she wants to go, too.
Victor doesn’t give a damn! It’s a lousy idea! He says they don’t even know where Jordan is or how to find her.
Nikki says Jordan deserves to hear from her face-to-face after everything she’d done.
Victoria says Jordan needs to hear from them all.
Claire nods. They deserve to be heard!
Nikki says Jordan needs to know that after everything she’s done to them, she has lost.
Victoria says that the three of them can keep each other safe, but they need to look into Jordan’s eyes and let her know that they’re the ones in control. They need to let her know she will never have control over anyone ever again! She says Jordan stole her daughter, poisoned their entire family, and burned down her house. She wants to see Jordan suffer!
Nikki tells Victor it needs to happen; they need it for closure.
Dr. Alcott’s Office
Dr. Alcott tells Connor they don’t think of it as a hospital. It’s more like a retreat, a place of healing where people go to find the peace they need to focus and revitalize.
Connor says it sounds like a hospital for sick people but further away.
Dr. Alcott says it’s not either of those things. She says to think of it like a vacation retreat; the people are nice, and there are other people there who are going through the same thing Connor is.
Chelsea tells Connor it sounds pretty great.
Dr. Alcott nods. She says the school is on board with it and will arrange for Connor to keep up with his schoolwork so he won’t fall behind.
Connor asks if the “retreat” has a soccer team.
Dr. Alcott says there isn’t a soccer team, but activities include art, music, and a gym. She says Connor’s coach has promised to keep his spot on the team open for when he returns.
Chelsea asks Connor if he likes the idea.
Connor gets out of his seat and says he doesn’t want to go.
Adam rushes over to comfort him and says they don’t need to decide anything immediately.
Dr. Alcott agrees. They can take their time to discuss it.
Chelsea, Connor, and Adam leave the doctor’s office and enter the waiting area. Chelsea asks if Connor’s okay after the session.
Connor says he’s not okay and doesn’t want to go to a treatment center. That would be admitting he’s crazy!
Chelsea and Adam reassure him he’s not crazy. The doctor told him that he and OCD are two separate things… He’s wonderful and clever, and they have to learn how to manage his OCD.
Adam says Connor didn’t do anything wrong, and he’s not crazy; they may not know why it happened, but they can deal with it.
Chelsea says Connor has an illness and reminds him that she went somewhere to get help for her own illness last year… But his place sounds like a lot more fun than hers was. She says it’ll help him get his OCD behavior under control, and that’s a good thing.
Connor asks if he can go back to his room at school now.
Chelsea says he can and asks if Adam can take him back… She wants to ask the doctor some more questions.
Adam agrees. They leave the office.
Chelsea goes back into the doctor’s office.
Dr. Alcott welcomes her back and says she can ask her anything. She knows Connor is having a hard time accepting and understanding his diagnosis, and she’s here to help their whole family.
Chelsea starts crying and asks if she can talk about herself… She’s not sure she can deal with this!
The Abbott Mansion
Kyle tells Harrison to go upstairs and find a game for them to play; he and Harrison can team up against Summer!
Harrison laughs and says he bets he and Claire could beat them both. He runs upstairs.
Kyle tells Summer it’s nice to see Harrison smile again; he’s been grumpy with the prospective nannies they interviewed.
Summer agrees. Harrison misses Linda, but he was happy with Claire.
Kyle says it’s a coincidence that Claire is interested in working with kids.
Summer says Claire talked to Harrison on his own level; she didn’t baby him.
Kyle says she had some good jokes, too… And Harrison meant it when he said he wanted to hang out with Claire again.
Summer says it’s sweet, but it sounds like Claire needs to build her life up from scratch.
Kyle says Claire needs a job… Maybe they could consider her as a potential babysitter for Harrison.
Summer isn’t sure.
Kyle says Claire is the first person Harrison has smiled at since Linda left… They could take her on temporarily until she figures out what she wants to do, and then they could find someone for a permanent position.
Summer asks what they even know about Claire… She may be Victoria’s daughter, but Victoria only just met her. She doubts she has any experience with children and probably lacks formal training or references.
Kyle says Victoria may not have known Claire long, but they’ve bonded. He says Claire was hired at Newman and worked directly under Nikki. She may not have a background in child care, but her resume is solid. They’ll get a reference from Nikki and go from there.
Summer agrees. She says she’ll talk to her grandmother about it, though trusting someone in an office is different than trusting them with your child.
Kyle says checking in with Nikki is a good start; he got the feeling there’s more to Claire’s story than she and Victoria were willing to share in front of Harrison.
Summer says she got that feeling, too… It’s got to be messy if they can’t talk about it in front of a child; what if it’s so bad that they’re not willing to talk about it at all?
Newman Ranch
Nikki, Victoria, and Claire work to convince Victor that their idea is solid. They’ll protect each other… Victor needs to trust them.
Victor reluctantly agrees.
Nikki asks for the address where Jordan is being kept.
Victor says he hasn’t agreed completely yet… They need someone with them when they confront Jordan.
Nikki says it can’t be Victor who comes with them… It needs to be just the three of them.
Victoria says they can assign a security guard to be with them.
Nikki agrees. Larry can join them as long as he doesn’t get in their way… And that’s non-negotiable. It’s their turn to take their lives back for good.
Society
“Ashley” sips on her drink as a voice in her head tells her that she can’t do it on her own… That’s not who she is or what she does! This is her department, and she needs her, and so does Ashley.
Ashley whispers that she has this. She pulls out her phone and sends Tucker a text message. “Forget everything. I don’t ever want to see you again.” She smiles, satisfied.
