Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Chance & Summer talked about their relationship, and Sharon surprised Nick at the launch party with the company’s new name.
Crimson Lights
Summer tells Chance he needs a friend to talk to and eat some comfort food with.
Chance grins and says comfort food sounds great. They leave the coffee shop together.
On the patio, Nikki enters and sits down with Lauren. Nikki can see that Lauren is upset about having to “rescue” her last night and apologizes.
Lauren says the only thing she needs to know is whether Nikki has been drinking again.
Daniel’s Apartment
Daniel sits down with his father and apologizes for the music Lucy was “blasting” earlier, saying it’s called Pop Rock and can apparently only be enjoyed at high volume.
Danny laughs and says he asked Lucy to send him her playlist. He was shocked he wasn’t on it!
Daniel reassures his dad that Lucy must be a fan of his; she’s family, after all!
Danny’s phone pings with a message notification.
Daniel grins and says that his dad’s phone has been blowing up… Who could it be? Oh, wait, he knows exactly who it is… Christine is the only one who could make him smile like that.
Danny looks at his son with a guilty expression.
Phyllis’s Suite at the Athletic Club
Phyllis was the one who sent Danny a message. “Did you get my message? Do you have a minute to talk?” She looks at her phone, expecting an answer, but doesn’t get one.
She paces around, wishing Danny would get back to her. After a moment or two, she figures that Christine and Danny are probably together; that’s why he’s not answering!
Phyllis thinks Christine is obviously slinging mud at her to Danny. She vows never to let “the bug” come between her and Danny ever again!
Daniel’s Apartment
Lucy enters the living room, complaining that she’s hungry.
Danny tells her he can cook something up for her.
Daniel thinks ordering some burgers from a takeout joint would be best.
Lucy doesn’t want burgers… She’s got a very specific craving for a grilled cheese sandwich!
Danny gets up and says he’ll make her one.
Lucy interrupts him and tells him she wants it made like her mom makes it. She texts Heather and says her mom is the only one who makes a grilled cheese properly.
Daniel says Lucy doesn’t need to go all the way to her mom’s for a sandwich.
Lucy says she’s not… Heather’s already on her way! She leaves the room, saying she wants to ensure they have everything her mom needs.
Danny says that escalated quickly.
Daniel nods… One text and Heather’s on her way over? He figures whatever makes Lucy happy…
Danny asks whether it makes Daniel happy that Heather is on her way over.
Daniel says he won’t tell Lucy that she can’t call her mom.
Danny says that’s not what he asked… Heather spends as much time at Daniel’s apartment as she does at her own place; how does Daniel feel about that?
Phyllis’s GCAC Suite
Phyllis digs through her bureau and finds a bra. She takes it into the washroom and holds it up over her sweater, seeing how it looks on her.
She’s obsessing. She says, “You’ve given me no choice, Danny, but I don’t mind one bit.”
Crimson Lights
Nikki swears to Lauren that she hasn’t had any alcohol since last night. She says she had a bad moment at the office yesterday and gave in to temptation. She’s pulled herself together since and is completely sober.
Lauren says she’s glad to hear that, but what about ten minutes from now? Will Nikki be okay then?
Nikki holds open her purse and shows Lauren there’s no flask inside. She went to an AA meeting after Victor picked her up in the morning; it was humbling, but she needed to do it to get back on track.
Lauren believes her but wants Nikki to know she’s concerned for her.
Nikki can’t blame her. Her behavior was deplorable, but she’s determined to beat it. She’s done it before, and she’ll do it again!
Lauren says words alone can’t make it happen, and neither can one meeting.
Nikki says she will do her damnedest to ensure nothing like this ever happens again.
Lauren says it was heartbreaking to see Nikki drunk, and it was luck that nobody saw her. She knows Nikki’s been going through some tough times lately, and that can be hard on her addictions.
Nikki says she’s been through agony and chaos; none of this would have happened otherwise.
Lauren says Nikki has incredible strength and pride, and her sobriety means everything to her, but she saw none of that last night.
Nikki says she didn’t want Victor to see her that way. She’s sorry she put Lauren on the spot when Victor called.
Lauren says Victor knew something was wrong when he called.
Nikki says it spared Victor from worrying that something terrible had happened to her.
Lauren says something terrible did happen to her, and Victor had the right to know where she was. She says she had never been so worried as when Fenmore was going through his addiction. She says she felt utterly helpless during it, and nobody should ever feel like that.
Nikki says she never wanted to upset Victor like that.
Lauren apologizes for coming down so hard on Nikki. She says Nikki can talk to her anytime… If she can’t find her sponsor or she can’t talk to Victor about it, she can call Lauren any time of the day.
Nikki promises she will.
Lauren tells Nikki not to suffer alone or let her family suffer any more than they already have.
Society
Summer and Chance sit in the restaurant, deciding what to order. Summer figures they should start with a drink, though they should only have one or two… She doesn’t want to get him drunk; she just wants to distract him from what’s weighing on his mind.
Chance agrees but says he doesn’t need to be cheered up; he’s fine.
Summer says it may take some time to process everything. Good wine and food will help him pass the time!
Chance admits he was caught off guard… He thought things were good between Sharon and him, but after thinking about it, he thinks Sharon was right and breaking up was the best thing for them. He says there was no bitterness between them, so he has no hard feelings, and he thinks they’ll remain friends once they get over the breakup awkwardness.
Summer says that’s a mature attitude; she and Kyle are trying to do something similar, but it’s not easy.
Chance figures it must be harder for her because her relationship with Kyle was much deeper and longer. Speaking from experience, it will take some time for her to figure it out.
Summer says they’re not here to cheer her up; they’re here to cheer Chance up!
They order their drinks.
Daniel’s Apartment
Daniel tells his father he doesn’t mind Heather coming over because she’s Lucy’s mom, and they’re co-parenting. He says nothing is happening between him and Heather, but he thinks Lucy has an agenda.
Danny thinks Lucy might be missing her mom since they were always together for years. It must be thrilling to have both her parents in the same town.
Daniel says he’s thrilled to have his daughter so close again.
Danny says it will take Lucy some time to adjust to their new living situation.
Daniel says Lucy’s been through a lot because of him, and she has to deal with her parents living in the same town but not being together.
Danny thinks it’s reassuring for Lucy to have family time with her parents together like they were before.
Daniel laughs and says it’s different for him… Having his parents in town is not reassuring at all; in fact, it’s a bit terrifying! He remembers Phyllis and Danny at each other’s throats and says it left a mark on his “fragile young mind.”
The doorbell chimes, and Daniel answers the door. It’s Heather.
Danny gets another text message from Phyllis. “We should meet in person. Let’s meet tonight at the Jazz Lounge.” He responds that he’s on his way.
Daniel tells Danny and Heather that he has to go. He’ll see them soon! He leaves without further explanation.
Phyllis’s GCAC Suite
Phyllis is wearing sexy undergarments. She puts on her robe and grins.
Daniel’s Apartment
Daniel tells Heather he’s sorry that Lucy dragged her out tonight.
Heather smiles and says she’s happy their daughter wants to hang out with her “boring old mom.”
Daniel says she’s not old or boring and shouldn’t let their daughter take advantage of her!
Heather says Lucy’s not taking advantage; she lives for such moments.
Lucy comes into the room and says they’re out of cheese… Maybe they could have banana and peanut butter sandwiches instead!
Heather can’t believe Lucy called her over to make grilled cheese when there wasn’t any cheese.
Daniel says they can’t have grilled peanut butter and banana sandwiches… It sounds terrible!
Lucy scoffs and says she never said anything about grilling them. Gross!
Heather looks at Daniel. “Yeah, gross!” She kisses Lucy on the cheek and goes into the kitchen to prepare.
Lucy says, “Isn’t mom the best?” She follows her mom into the kitchen.
Daniel gives a thumbs-up. “Yeah, the best.”

Crimson Lights
Nikki tells Lauren she plans to maintain her sobriety and thanks her for offering her time… Hopefully, she’ll never have to take her up on it.
Lauren smiles. She says whatever happens, her offer stands. Nikki can always count on her.
Nikki says she can’t fail with all the support around her.
Lauren says her sponsor, Seth, seems committed as well.
Nikki says Seth was there for her when Lauren called him last night for backup.
Lauren says Seth was there without hesitation. He knew Nikki needed all the support she could get.
Nikki says she’s lucky to have found Seth. She’d been going to meetings with him for years, and he made it easy to reach out when she realized she was in trouble.
Lauren says she knows how important a sponsor is to someone in recovery. She says Fenmore is close with his sponsor, too… In fact, Fenmore and Trey spent Christmas with Fen’s sponsor.
Nikki says she doubts it’ll be like that with her and Seth, but he was there for her, and that’s all that matters.
Seth walks into the coffee shop and sees Nikki and Lauren chatting.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Danny walks into the lounge and sits down with Phyllis, who’s already bought him a drink. He thanks her and asks what’s so urgent; why did she want to see him?
Phyllis says she wants to ask him for a favor first. She asks him to play the song that she helped inspire.
Danny is incredulous… That’s why she wanted to meet? She wants him to play the song right now? He says he hasn’t even finished the lyrics yet. If she wants to talk about something, he’s there to talk.
Phyllis says she does want to talk, but first, she wants to hear the song. She says his beautiful music makes her feel like everything will work out how it should… His music inspires her.
Danny agrees to play for her. He steps up to the piano and starts to play.
Phyllis takes out her phone and records him, smiling.
Society
Chance says he and Sharon had decided to break up when he last saw Summer, but he didn’t feel like baring his soul to her because it was fresh.
Summer asks if he’s ready to bare his soul now.
Chance says he’d rather talk about anything else. He owes Summer a thank you!
Summer says he doesn’t have to thank her for dinner; she’s having fun too!
Chance says he wants to thank her for the wardrobe tips she gave him. He’s on the right track now!
Summer grins and says the shopping spree she went on saved his career.
Chance laughs. There’s no doubt!
Summer says that means he must trust her judgment in everything going forward.
Chance grins and says he doesn’t have a choice.
The GCAC Jazz Lounge
Phyllis puts her phone away and applauds after Danny finishes playing.
Danny grins and walks back to the table. He asks what’s bothering her… Does it have to do with Tucker McCall?
Phyllis wonders why Danny would ask if Tucker was bothering her.
Danny says Tucker has a reputation for trouble. He saw them together on New Year’s Eve and hopes she and Tucker aren’t seeing each other.
Phyllis asks if Danny thinks it’d be a mistake for her to be involved with Tucker.
Danny says he can’t make judgment calls for Phyllis. He only knows Tucker has a notorious reputation.
Phyllis says she doesn’t see a future with Tucker. He doesn’t sweep her off her feet like Danny does! She says she’s getting really warm and starts tugging at her blouse, revealing her bra and cleavage.
Danny can’t help but look.
Phyllis says you can’t just let it go when you have passion with someone. She asks if he remembers the passion they had together.
Danny says he does remember, but it wasn’t all good.
Phyllis says it was all good. There was fire and heat between them; if they tried, they could have it again.
Danny’s phone pings and Phyllis tells him to ignore it. Danny looks at his phone and says, “Are you kidding me?”
The GCAC Dining Room
Upstairs from Danny and Phyllis, Christine is sitting at the bar and looking at her phone.
She’s watching a video of Danny playing for Phyllis, captioned “That feeling when your ex plays you a love 💞song ❤️”
The GCAC Jazz Lounge
Danny asks Phyllis, “What the hell is this?” He says she just posted a video and asks about the caption. Why would she post something like this?
Phyllis says she inspired him and wanted the world to hear the song’s beauty. She thinks he’s making a big deal out of nothing.
Danny says it is a big deal. Daniel’s right about them being in the same town together and is right… She is infuriating!
Phyllis says she doesn’t understand what’s happening.
Danny tells her to stop trying to play him. She posted the video; she wants the world to think something is happening between them and that they’re romantically involved, but that’s not true! He says she convinced him, but he knows now that she hasn’t changed.
Phyllis says she has changed.
Danny says she hasn’t changed… She’s still up to her same old tricks, playing games and manipulating people’s lives to suit her warped agenda.
Phyllis says she’s not the one playing games; she’s direct and upfront! Christine is the one who’s playing games; she couldn’t wait to tell Phyllis that the two of them were going on a romantic trip together.
Danny says the two of them are “at it again.”
Phyllis says it hurts her when Christine “comes after her” like that.
Danny rolls his eyes. Was Phyllis minding her own business when Christine told her she was going on a trip with Danny?
Phyllis says she was minding her own business. She was trying to apologize to Christine when she had the trip thrown in her face because Christine couldn’t wait to make her feel like dirt. She can’t help it if Christine is threatened by her!
Danny asks Phyllis if she told Christine she had kissed him.
Phyllis says Danny kissed her back… But she never told Christine, even though she could have thrown it in her face. She showed restraint!
Danny laughs and says posting the video wasn’t showing restraint. Does she think she should get credit for posting that?!
Phyllis says she should. She asks why Danny didn’t tell Christine about the kiss.
Danny says it wouldn’t accomplish anything by telling her. He doesn’t want Christine to be upset and fuel the rivalry between her and Phyllis.
Phyllis says there’s another reason he didn’t tell Christine… She thinks Danny liked the kiss.
Crimson Lights
Seth walks up to the table, smiling, and greets Lauren and Nikki.
Nikki says Seth’s ears must have been burning.
Lauren smiles and says it’s nice to see him again; they didn’t get a chance to talk when he came to help.
Nikki says she couldn’t finish thanking him this morning, but she wants him to know how much she appreciated him being there for her when she needed him.
Seth says he’s there to help her with whatever she needs, and it’s nice to see her looking so much better now. As her sponsor, he’s there to help her get back to stable sobriety.
Nikki says she didn’t see him at the meeting this morning.
Seth nods and yawns, saying meetings are important.
Nikki figures he’s probably tired because he was up helping her.
Seth says he’s just under the weather. He’s on his way to a late meeting.
Nikki says he might be coming down with something and should go home after the meeting to rest.
Seth says he was thinking the same. He tells Nikki to call him any time; his phone is always on.
Nikki thanks him, and he leaves. Nikki sits down with Lauren and asks if Seth seems okay to her.
Society
Outside the restaurant, Chance tells Summer that if she thinks his jacket looks good, she should see what else he got from Marchetti; she’d be proud!
Summer says the clothes are nice, but the man inside is what makes the biggest difference.
Chance looks at his watch and says he should head home… He doesn’t want to be tired from hanging out too late.
Summer says it’d be bad if he was fired in his first week. She doesn’t want to be responsible for that! She says she had a nice night.
Chance smiles and says he had a nice night, too… They should do it again soon!
Daniel’s Apartment
Lucy tells Heather and Daniel that she needed this… Hot chocolate with marshmallows helps her fall sleep! She hugs her dad, says goodnight, and promises her mom she won’t call her over to make her a grilled cheese again.
Heather says she should wait until they actually have cheese in the house.
Lucy laughs and hugs her mom, wishing her goodnight. She leaves the room.
Heather says she’ll get going soon, too, but she’ll wash the dishes first.
Daniel tells her she cooked, he cleans, that’s the deal. He says she’s dropped everything at Lucy’s request, so he owes her.
Heather says she’s just a soft touch.
Daniel says he is too… He’s putty in Lucy’s hand and gets the feeling Lucy likes them all hanging out together like old times.
Heather says Lucy isn’t the only one… Heather says she’s falling back in love with him all over again.
The GCAC Jazz Lounge
Danny tells Phyllis she’s deliberately misreading the situation and twisting it into what she wants to believe, no matter what the truth really is.
Phyllis says Danny doesn’t want to admit it to himself, but it shows in his demeanor and body language.
Danny asks if Phyllis knows what she’s talking about.
Phyllis says Danny is tense and on edge when he’s around Christine, but he’s so much more comfortable with Phyllis. She says he seems to be walking on eggshells around Christine and is afraid to “scare the little bug off.”
Danny gets up, angry, and says Phyllis has no idea what she’s talking about. He goes up to the bar and orders a scotch, neat.
Phyllis sidles up beside him and says Danny’s working so hard to be comfortable around Christine; he’s trying to make it look like he’s still attracted to her, but it’s all an act.
Danny tells Phyllis to do him a favor and back off. He says she pretends to know his feelings, but she doesn’t.
Phyllis gets up close to Danny and says she always trusts her instincts; they never lead her astray. She tells him he should trust them too.
Phyllis wraps her arms around him and kisses him. Danny responds and kisses her back.
Christine walks down the stairs into the lounge as they’re kissing.
