Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Claire confronted Jordan with Victoria & Cole’s support; Ashley dug for the truth about Paris from Audra & Tucker.
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Mariah speaks to reporters and reminds them that there won’t be any interviews at the launch party.
Tessa brings Mariah a thin, wrapped package and says she’s dying to know what’s in it. It looks to be a painting or something of a similar size.
Mariah says it’s a surprise that Sharon has planned for later.
Tessa says she can keep a secret; she’s family!
Mariah laughs and hands the package to a server, asking them to put it in a discreet place where nobody can see it.
Tessa says playing the “wife card” usually gets her further.
Mariah grins and kisses her, saying she’ll have to wait like everyone else.
Chancellor-Winters
Billy and Devon have a quick meeting. Billy asks if Devon has had time to go over his proposals.
Devon says he hasn’t had enough time to look them over and make a decision yet.
Billy says his ideas come with years of experience.
Devon is aware but knows that Billy’s ideas aren’t always successful.
Billy asks him not to take too long, as some of his ideas have an expiry date.
Devon says they might expire because he won’t be rushed.
Chelsea and Abby enter the office, dressed in evening gowns.
Billy says it looks like it’s date night… Hopefully, Abby can convince Devon to leave the office early… He could use a little fun!
Abby says she and Devon are going to the launch party for Sharon’s new company.
Chelsea says they are heading there, too… Double date?
The Abbott Mansion
Jack helps Diane zip up her dress. He asks if his tie is too short.
Diane says his tie is perfect, just like him. He looks extra handsome!
Jack smiles and says she looks ravishing.
Diane says she’s ready to network. She imagines the night will be a who’s-who of Genoa City’s business elite.
Jack thinks she’s expecting dull conversations.
Diane laughs and says it can’t be boring with Mariah in charge. She’s sad they lost her to Chancellor-Winters.
Jack says they can’t blame her for wanting to work with her family.
Diane says, speaking of family, Jack can promote Kyle now since Tucker figured out Kyle’s plan… They can stop pretending!
Jack says there’s plenty of time for that; they can discuss it later.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Nick brings Sharon some flowers. She thinks they’re from Nick and says he shouldn’t have. Nick grins and says they’re from Noah and Faith, but this is from him. He hands her a gift-wrapped box.
Sharon opens the box and pulls out a desk nameplate with her name and “CEO” engraved on it. She thanks him for it, and Nick says he couldn’t be prouder of her. She hands off the flowers and nameplate to her assistant, Simone, and asks her to put them somewhere safe for her.
Nick says he couldn’t be prouder of her. He says he saw Mariah upstairs whipping the press into shape. It’s going to be a stellar event! Is Sharon nervous?
Sharon says she’s not nervous… Launching her own company feels like a natural fit. She tells Nick that she had a dream the other night, which put things in perspective for her, and part of that dream is becoming reality now.
Adam and Sally walk by and hear Sharon talking with Nick. Adam asks if dreams coming true is part of the theme tonight.
Society
Phyllis meets Summer at the restaurant. She asks why Summer wanted to meet at the restaurant instead of at the Athletic Club.
Summer says she was craving Society’s specialty cocktail.
Phyllis sees Summer’s drink and asks if that’s the specialty cocktail. She picks it up and takes a sip, saying it’s hard to find seltzer water anywhere in town.
Summer says she hasn’t ordered her drink yet… She was waiting for Phyllis.
Phyllis figures that Summer didn’t want to see Sharon at the Athletic Club.
Summer says she didn’t want to run into that crowd.
Phyllis thinks maybe Summer didn’t want to run into Sharon and Chance.
Chancellor-Winters
Chelsea asks if they should head out to the launch party.
Devon says he has some emails to finish up before they go.
Chelsea says they’ll meet them at the party. She and Billy leave the office.
In the reception area, Chelsea asks Billy if everything is okay between him and Devon… Things seemed a little tense in the office.
Billy says things are fine. They have a difference in business style and stay out of each other’s way for the most part.
Chelsea says they’re trying to run a company together; it’s important that they talk.
Billy says Devon didn’t expect him to join the company at Jill’s request, so he’s being aloof. He says that when Chelsea and Abby walked in, Devon and Billy were talking about a proposal that Devon had been taking a long time to look over… That’s the bit of tension that Chelsea picked up on.
Chelsea asks if Devon is delaying on purpose.
Billy says Devon is used to running the company with Lily and being a decision-maker. Devon needs to get used to Billy’s presence, but he’s a pro and will adjust to it.
In the office, Abby asks Devon how working with Billy is going.
Devon says they’re finding their groove. Billy’s used to working one-on-one with Jack and getting his ideas approved quickly, but they work a bit differently at Chancellor-Winters. He figures Billy will adjust to how things run here and promises he’s playing nice with Billy.
Abby smirks and says she could feel the warmth when she entered the room. She says they have to keep work at the office tonight since it’s a very important night for Sharon.
Devon agrees. He promises Sharon and Abby will have his full attention.
The Jazz Lounge
Sally congratulates Sharon on her new business.
Sharon thanks Sally and says she’s not the only winner that night… Nick and Adam scored a big win with Victor at Newman!
Adam nods and says things are going well, and he feels lucky.
Nick tells him it wasn’t luck… Adam goes after what he wants!
Adam says anything worth having is worth the effort. He gives Sally a meaningful look. He says they all have something to drink to.
Sharon says she couldn’t have done this without Nick and Adam’s help… Their input helped her determine what kind of company she wanted to create.
Adam says Sally’s design business is taking off, too.
Sally says a big part of that was Nick’s investment.
Adam asks Sharon if she’s thought about hiring Sally to design her offices.
Sally says Adam can’t put Sharon on the spot like that and asks him to get her a glass of champagne.
Sharon says she’d like one too.
Nick says they’ll take care of it. He heads off to the bar with his brother.
Sharon tells Sally that Adam seems to be her biggest fan.
Sally laughs and says she’s sorry he’s pushing her design business so hard; Adam’s been a big cheerleader for her designs.
Sharon says that’s not what she meant.
Sally says she’s “cautiously optimistic” about her and Adam and thinks the same could be said for Sharon and Nick.
Sharon says Nick is just there as her date. It’s not a “date” date, but Nick always manages to be there for her when she needs him. She looks at Nick and smiles, and he smiles back.
A minute or two later, Adam brings Sally a glass of champagne and apologizes for the awkwardness with Nick.
Sally says Nick seemed fine when they saw him earlier.
Adam says it was pretty obvious they were both on their way up to Sally’s suite.
Sally thinks it’s going to take time for Nick to get used to seeing them together in public.
Adam asks how Sally feels about it.
Sally says she doesn’t imagine anyone is too surprised by her and Adam’s reunion… Sharon certainly wasn’t. Sally says she feels wonderful about it. She smiles and kisses Adam.
Mariah brings Sharon a glass of champagne, saying Nick asked her to bring it to her. Mariah had pointed Nick toward some “mucky-mucks” so he could mingle and hype Sharon up.
Sharon thanks her and asks how things are going.
Mariah relates her itinerary for the night, saying Sharon’s job is to schmooze with everyone until her speech, and then they’ll give out the Jabot swag bags… And speaking of Jabot, there they are now!
Jack and Diane walk into the lounge smiling and greet Sharon. Jack congratulates her and says they couldn’t be happier about the new chapter in her life.
Diane says it’s very exciting, but she’s not sure she can forgive Sharon for stealing Mariah away from them.
Sharon grins and says all is fair in business; they won’t be getting any apologies from her!
Jack says Mariah is doing a wonderful job, judging from the digital invitations.
Mariah laughs and says they couldn’t launch a tech company with paper invitations. She says she’s sorry she left Jabot, but she had to work with her “favorite mogul.”
Billy and Chelsea approach the bar and order some champagne.
Adam and Sally walk up and say hello. Adam says he meant to call Chelsea earlier. He wanted to talk about Connor’s latest report card… It didn’t have the A’s they were used to seeing, and he was worried about it.
Chelsea says Connor is getting used to his new school and has to find his rhythm.
Adam agrees. He tells Billy that he heard he’d left Jabot… That was quick!
Billy says it was… He grins and says he lasted longer than Adam did.
Adam laughs. He asks if there’s an office pool betting on how long he will last at Chancellor-Winters.
Billy says he’s not a gambling man anymore, but if Adam’s looking for a job, he can put a word in for him… Though he’s not sure it would help.
Adam says he’s good… Nothing can rival his co-CEO job at Newman!
Chelsea and Billy are surprised at his news.
Sally says Adam and Nick are doing great things and working well together.
Adam says that Sally’s new design business is doing well. He says that it’s not an established business like Newman or Chancellor-Winters… It’s all her!
Abby and Devon walk down the stairs into the lounge. Abby tells Devon she feels awkward that she’ll run into Chance.
Devon doesn’t see Chance anywhere.
Abby says Chance would never miss Sharon’s big night. She wonders where he is.

Society
Phyllis prods Summer about Chance.
Summer says her mom’s right; she didn’t want to see Sharon with Chance at the party. She asks that they don’t talk about Chance anymore.
Phyllis says she understands that Summer wouldn’t want to make a play for Chance at the party.
Summer says she doesn’t want any more of Phyllis’s advice to “just go for it.” She says that Sharon overheard her giving her that advice at Crimson Lights, and it was very unhelpful. Sharon seemed “cool” about it, though.
Phyllis says she stands by her advice; being cool with it means that Sharon isn’t very interested in Chance. She asks why Summer should give up her shot at happiness when Sharon isn’t going to fight for her man.
Summer thinks Sharon was cool about things because she knew the advice was coming from Phyllis. She’s glad it happened because it allowed her to invite him for lunch… But she has to respect the fact he declined.
Phyllis says she doesn’t see a problem with two friends having lunch together. She wants Summer to be happy.
Summer says it’s not going to be with Chance.
Phyllis, out of the blue, says she’s mad at Kyle. She can’t believe Kyle was mad at Summer for being loyal to her mother when he did the same thing with his sorry excuse for a mother, and then he went and cheated on Summer! Kyle is the reason Summer doubts she deserves happiness.
Summer says she doesn’t want to hear it anymore; she doesn’t want Phyllis to keep on about going after Chance. She played dirty and crossed lines in the past, but that’s not who she is anymore. She’d be ashamed of herself if she took her mom’s advice now.
Phyllis says that sounds like a slam on her. She says she’s never regretted going after what she wants.
Summer says it wasn’t a jab at her. She knows she wouldn’t be here if Phyllis hadn’t crossed any lines.
Phyllis says Summer was born out of love and wants Summer to feel love like that, too.
Summer says she’ll have love when the time is right; she’s okay being alone until then. She says she has to finish some work before the evening ends.
Phyllis says she loves Summer and wants her to be happy.
Summer says she wants that for both of them. She finishes her drink and leaves the restaurant.
Christine walks in and sees Phyllis sitting alone.
The Jazz Lounge
Jack and Diane walk up to Billy and Chelsea at the bar. Jack grins and says they’re both looking well. He figures Billy’s new job is agreeing with him.
Billy says he has no complaints so far.
Abby and Devon walk up to the bar and say hello.
Jack says they were just talking about how Billy is doing at his new job.
Devon smiles and says, “So far, so good!” He says Billy’s familiar with the business and has hit the ground running.
Abby and Chelsea both agree that they see nothing but success for the company.
Diane says she realizes it’s a touchy subject, but they’re worried about Tucker’s intentions toward Jabot. She says Tucker’s been quiet since the news of his scandal dropped… Does Devon have any insights?
Billy says it’d be nice to know if Tucker is coming after Chancellor-Winters, too.
Devon says he’d love to know, too, but he’s not on speaking terms with Tucker right now.
Jack’s sorry to hear that and figures Ashley will be sorry, too. He says Ashley thought Tucker’s relationship with Devon and Dominic was his one saving grace.
Devon says Tucker will have to save himself if that’s even possible.
Abby shakes her head and declares the club a “Tucker-free zone.” This is Sharon’s big night!
Everyone agrees. Billy leaves to get a drink, and Devon and Abby excuse themselves to mingle.
Jack is left alone with Chelsea and asks her how Billy is really doing.
Chelsea grins and says Jack loves his brother… She can hear the concern in his voice.
Jack says he worries that Billy decided to leave Jabot because of Jack.
Chelsea says Jack doesn’t need to worry about Billy. She thinks leaving Jabot was good for him.
Jack says it stings a bit, but if it was good for Billy, he’s all for it.
Chelsea says Billy enjoys creating things instead of reacting to what Jack wants. He’s trusting his instincts, and he’s brilliant.
Jack says he’s glad Billy is doing well at Chancellor-Winters, and thinks spending time with Chelsea is good for him too.
Crimson Lights
Summer enters the cafe and is surprised to see Chance sitting alone, reading his tablet. She approaches him and says hello, asking what he’s doing at the coffee shop.
Chance says he’s just reading up on Chancellor-Winters… It’s a pretty steep learning curve for him.
Summer asks why he’s not at Sharon’s launch party.
Society
Phyllis sits down at the bar beside Christine.
Christine sighs and says she just wanted to have a cocktail and catch up on email… She doesn’t want any drama.
Phyllis says she couldn’t agree more. She’s buying drinks and wants to apologize for how she acted the last time they spoke.
Christine says she was behaving like a bratty teenager.
Phyllis says she wasn’t herself. Seeing Christine and Danny made her fall into old patterns. She’s not combative and angry.
Christine laughs and says she could have fooled her.
Phyllis says she promised her children and Danny she would change and wants to make peace with Christine.
Christine doesn’t buy it. She’s lived through too many of Phyllis’s redemptions to believe this one is real.
Phyllis says she’ll take that as a challenge. She’ll bring Christine over to “Team Phyllis” and change her opinion of her!
Christine shrugs and says she guesses Phyllis will be wishing them a “bon voyage.”
Phyllis asks if Christine is going somewhere.
Christine says she and Danny are going away to spend time together this weekend and drink some “great wine” in a cabin in front of a fireplace. She says Danny planned the whole thing and figured Phyllis would have already heard since she and Danny are such great friends.
Crimson Lights
Summer tells Chance his new job can wait; he can’t be late for Sharon’s event. She doesn’t think he has time to change his clothes, but that’s not important… What’s important is that he be there for Sharon on her big night!
Chance tells her to slow down; he’s not going to the launch.
Summer says even if they had a fight, he needs to put it aside and be there for Sharon… This is too important.
Chance says they didn’t get into a fight… They broke up.
The Jazz Lounge
Nick tells Sharon that he loves that the party is drama-free.
Sharon says that Nick helped by being civil with Adam. She says it was a “bit of a statement” for Adam to bring Sally as his plus-one.
Nick says Adam’s on top of the world right now… He’s back in Victor and Sally’s good graces.
Sharon asks if it’s driving him crazy… Even though Nick was civil with Adam, he still had a bit of an edge.
Nick admits he doesn’t like seeing Adam with Sally because he knows Adam will do something to blow things up and will probably end up hurting Sally, but he’s also relieved because a happy Adam means that he probably won’t cause problems at the office. He hopes he didn’t just jinx things.
Jack asks Adam and Sally if assuming they’ve worked things out would be presumptuous.
Adam grins and says he and Sally are heading in the right direction.
Devon asks Tessa and Mariah how Aria is doing.
Mariah says Aria is doing amazing, and her hearing aids are working well for her. She smiles whenever she hears her name.
Tessa says Aria responds when she sings to her.
Devon says it must be a special feeling for them both.
Mariah asks how Dominic is doing.
Devon says Dominic impresses him every day with what he’s learned.
Abby sits with them and asks if this is the “Proud Parents Club.”
They laugh. Tessa says they want to ask about the music classes that Dominic is attending… They want to sign Aria up for the classes as well.
Devon and Abby exchange a glance.
Tessa wonders if they’re not happy with the classes.
Devon says they love the classes and think the teacher is doing a great job.
Mariah says she needs to take care of some party-related matters and needs Tessa’s help. She excuses them from the table.
Abby tells Tessa and Mariah she’ll text them about the music classes.
Tessa and Mariah thank them and leave the table.
Abby asks Devon about the look on his face when they mentioned the music classes… Did Tucker show up again to Dominic’s classes?
Devon says he didn’t. Tucker seems to be listening to him about staying away from him and Dominic.
Abby asks if Devon is disappointed.
Devon says he’s not disappointed at all… Tucker did exactly what he asked him to do.
Crimson Lights
Summer tells Chance she doesn’t understand; she thought Chance and Sharon were happy together.
Chance says they were, but happiness isn’t everything.
Summer doesn’t want to pry, but she’s confused… Their relationship seemed solid the last time she saw Chance and Sharon together. She asks if Sharon was upset that they went to the concert together.
Chance says that had nothing to do with it. Sharon realized they wanted different things out of the relationship.
Summer says she’s sorry.
Chance says he’s sorry, too, but Sharon is a smart woman who knows her heart better than he does. He’s glad it happened sooner rather than later.
Summer figures it still hurts him that they broke up.
Chance nods. He’s sorry to miss the launch party and wishes Sharon nothing but success.
The Jazz Lounge
Mariah stands beside Sharon and calls for everyone’s attention.
Everyone applauds and Sharon thanks them for coming to the launch party. She says she had a lot of support to get to this point but needs to point out two special people who helped her.
Sharon says she needs to thank Mariah Copeland for joining the company and planning the launch party and needs to thank Nicholas Newman, who is no longer working with her but helped her get to this point. She wouldn’t be there without him!
Everyone applauds.
Sharon says everyone knows how she came to own the company, but she won’t dwell on that… From dark places, light can shine. She’s relaunching the company she inherited with the mission to impact the world positively. 50% of all company profits will be donated to projects close to her heart.
Sharon continues her speech, mentioning that her daughter, Faith, asked her to help raise awareness about underage alcohol abuse. She says they’ll also donate to Delia’s Foundation, New Hope, the Abbott-Winters Foundation, and other charities. She says all the charities will also receive free software and tech support.
Sharon promises to keep her speech short, but she has one more announcement. The company needs a new name that’s free from its history and promotes optimism and positivity. She unveils the new company logo and says the new name is “Cassidy First Technology.”
Everyone applauds. Nick gets a tear in his eye, and Mariah walks over and gives him a hug.
Society
Phyllis tells Christine she hadn’t heard about her upcoming trip with Danny. If Danny had told her, she’d have pointed him in a different direction; cabins are cold and drafty!
Christine says that’s what blankets are for. She can’t wait to curl up in front of a cozy fire with Danny. She says they need to get away from all the distractions in the city so they can focus on each other.
Phyllis is flattered Christine thinks she’s a distraction.
Christine says her definition of distracting is more off-putting.
Phyllis says Danny doesn’t see her as off-putting.
Christine says that’s proof that Phyllis hasn’t changed. Phyllis is trying to mark her territory, even when it’s not hers to mark!
Phyllis says Christine hasn’t changed either… She’s still acting superior to everyone.
Christine grins and says that only applies to everyone sitting at the bar with her. She finishes her drink and thanks Phyllis for buying it. She picks up her handbag and leaves the restaurant.
Phyllis pulls out her phone and calls Danny, asking him what he’s up to at the moment.
Crimson Lights
Summer asks Chance why he’s laughing.
Chance grins and says he was thinking about how Summer was worried that he missed Sharon’s party. He figures she would have had a tuxedo sent over from Marchetti and demanded he change into it in the bathroom.
Summer says that might have been her next suggestion. She knows launching a business is difficult and figured Sharon needed his support.
Chance says he felt bad about not attending the launch, but he talked it over with Sharon, and they both agreed it didn’t feel right. He asks why Summer didn’t go to the party.
Summer says she has a deadline at work and had dropped into the coffee shop to grab some “fuel.”
Chance says that reminds him that he has ten years of annual reports to get up to speed on.
Summer says she’ll let him get back to it. She stands up and gathers her purse and coat.
Chance thanks her for looking out for him.
Summer smiles. She says that it’s hard to work on an empty stomach… Can she buy him dinner?
The Jazz Lounge
Jack tells Sharon he knew she’d do great with her new business, but her presentation exceeded his expectations.
Devon and Billy thank her for donating to the Abbott-Winters Foundation and the Delia Foundation.
Sharon says there’s no thanks necessary. She says it was overwhelming when she took control of the company from a man who had ruined so many people’s lives, but she realized that she could turn it around and do something honorable with it. She asks Jack if she could speak to Billy and Devon alone.
Jack nods. No problem. He congratulates her again and leaves her to talk with Devon and Billy.
Sharon tells Billy and Devon this may sound strange, but she had a dream the other night, and she wants to run something by them both.
Devon tells her to continue; they’re curious!
Sharon says in her dream, Cassidy and Chancellor-Winters teamed up. She thinks it might be unbeatable if the two companies joined forces. Cassidy’s technology and Chancellor-Winters’ content could be a knockout! She asks if they would consider a partnership.
Devon and Billy agree that they’re intrigued… They’d love to hear more.
Sharon says they don’t need to rush into anything.
Devon says he’ll get his assistant to arrange a meeting for them.
Sharon says that sounds great. She tells Devon and Billy to enjoy the party and walks over to join Nick, who’s looking at the new company logo. She asks Nick if he likes the new name.
Nick says she could have given him a heads-up… He didn’t expect to get all misty-eyed at her cocktail party!
Sharon says she has been misty-eyed since Mariah first showed her the design.
Nick thinks the name is perfect and says Sharon is building something special.
Sharon says she feels like Cassie has been guiding her… It feels like she’s part of their lives every day. She asks whether Nick feels that, too.
Nick says he does. He says Cassie would be so proud of her, and Nick has never been more in awe of her. Tonight, she triumphed!
