Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Nate caught Audra lying about ending her relationship with Kyle, while Billy lost his cool with Jack.
The Abbott Mansion
Kyle comes home and asks Jack and Diane what’s wrong… Is it Harrison?
Jack says that Harrison is fine.
Diane says it affects Harrison, though… They want to talk about Kyle’s marriage.
Kyle says it’s fine. He figures Abby has told them about what’s going on with him.
Jack says Kyle fought to be with Summer and would have done anything for her.
Kyle says it’s in the past.
Diane says love like that doesn’t disappear; he needs to deal with this.
Jack says Kyle needs to deal with his anger and hurt. Bottling them up will eat him alive.
Crimson Lights
Nick enters the restaurant and says hello to Heather and Sharon.
Heather tells Sharon that since Nick might be the new co-CEO of Newman Enterprises, it may be best to discuss this later.
Nick figures they’re talking about how Sharon can maintain control of Kirsten, and he supports Sharon fully in her endeavor.
Heather excuses herself to make some calls while she readies for their visit with Victor.
Sharon tells Nick she’s prepared for a fight, but she’ll be fine whatever happens. She says Adam’s in a bad way since Victor kicked him out.
Nick says he warned Sally about Adam… It’s a ploy to make Sharon feel sorry for him.
Society
Adam sits alone at a table, thinking.
Sally walks in and approaches his table. She says that Nick told her what happened, and she’s sorry.
Adam says he pushed for something that he wanted and went to extremes.
Sally says that Victor would have done the same.
Adam says he blew what could have been a great partnership with Nick and Sharon.
Sally says it sounds like he regrets it.
Adam says he can’t believe it’s taken this to make him see who he is and how he’s been living. He says it’s the second part of the wake-up call he needed.
Sally asks what the first part was.
Adam says losing their daughter was the first part of the wake-up call… At the same moment, he lost Sally. He says it’s not about him being in love with her; he doesn’t want anything from her.
Sally thinks he’s oversharing.
Adam says losing their daughter changed him, and he can’t stop thinking about what could have been… He’ll be marking milestones for the rest of his life that Ava will never achieve.
Sally understands and wipes a tear from her eye.
Adam says losing his job was the last straw.
Sally says Adam and Victor have always worked things out before.
Adam says that Victor’s washed his hands of him. Life hit him with one punch after another, pushing him in a new direction that’s not clear to him yet.
Crimson Lights
Nick tells Sharon he’s surprised it took Victor so long to cut Adam loose.
Sharon says Adam wants to accept responsibility for what happened.
Nick asks what else Adam said.
Sharon says that Adam wants her to help him fix things with his family, and he wants to fix things between Nick and himself.
Nick wonders why Adam wouldn’t talk to him about it face-to-face.
Sharon says Adam wouldn’t get far talking with Nick these days and hoped that he would at least listen to her if Sharon approached him instead.
Nick says Adam showed no concern for Nick and Sharon’s feelings, and he got what he deserved for trying to get revenge on Victoria.
Sharon says she doesn’t disagree with that. She says that Victor wants to dismantle Kirsten now.
Nick says that Adam wanted to whittle Kirsten away to nothing and make Sharon’s role in the company useless, yet now he’s sorry and wants another chance. Nick doesn’t buy it and doesn’t think Sharon should either.
The Abbott Mansion
Kyle angrily tells Jack that he forced him out of his job to protect Summer and Marchetti and offered him an “unspecified” position at Jabot.
Jack says he’s taking things out of context. He says that he wanted to give Kyle and Summer space so that they could find their way back to each other.
Kyle says that Jack can tell himself whatever he needs to hear.
Jack says that’s what he’s talking about… Kyle’s misdirected anger.
Kyle says he gets it… It was a business decision.
Jack says it was more than just a business decision… Kyle is his son.
Kyle pours a drink for himself.
Diane says they love him and have his best interests at heart.
Jack says they must speak to him when they see him going down a dark path.
Kyle says his path is great, thank you very much. A new life and a new job is just what he needed. He’s loving every minute of it, just like “Smilin’ Jack” in his old days.
Jack says he wants Kyle back at Jabot.
Kyle says he has a job at a media company; he works alongside Nikki Newman and doesn’t need anything. He tells his mother that he’s broken things off with Audra Charles… So, what exactly is the problem?
Diane says Audra is kept on at Newman Media and wonders if it was Audra’s idea to break things off.
Kyle says that they can work together and keep it professional. He says this has nothing to do with Summer, either. He’s not getting back together with Summer, and Audra isn’t to blame.
Diane says that Kyle was the one who brought Audra up.
Jack asks Kyle if he knows his new position at Newman Media; since Audra will be working in a diminished position, Kyle will also be taking a diminished role.
Kyle says the merger’s not finalized.
Jack says that Kyle is willing to take a lesser position working for Nikki but won’t do the same for his family.
Kyle says it’s not the same; he was forced out of Marchetti.
Jack says he offered him a position at Jabot, whereas he would never be a priority at Newman.
Kyle says that Billy is Jack’s second-in-command, and his past record is a train wreck.
Jack says Billy isn’t a problem.
Kyle says he saw Billy earlier, who said he’s having conflicts with Jack.
Jack asks what else Billy said.
Kyle says he and Jack both know they can’t trust Billy, but he kept him on, offering Kyle a lesser position as a pity move for throwing him out of Marchetti.
Jack says they need to step back and try to work things out.
Kyle says he’s right where he wants to be.
Diane asks how that’s possible.
Kyle says that leaving Jabot and breaking it off with Summer is the best thing that ever happened to him.
Crimson Lights
Sharon tells Nick she wishes she could believe Adam is sincere.
Nick says that Adam looking sincere is a tactic. He knows his brother, and he’s not above using the loss of his daughter to curry favor.
Sharon says she hopes the battle with Victor will be over soon, but he won’t make it easy.
Nick says he’s proud of her. It’s a time filled with endless possibilities for both Sharon and Sally.
Sharon asks what he means about Sally.
Nick explains that Sally has taken him up on his offer to fund her project.
Sharon asks if Nick’s going to work with Sally or whether he’s going to go back to Newman.
Nick says Sally’s project is her own, and he won’t be involved except for funding, and he’s not sure whether he’s returning to Newman Enterprises yet.
Society
Sally says that Adam’s in a dangerous place right now.
Adam laughs. He says he’s been in a dangerous place his whole life. Everyone thinks he’s damaged, but he embraced it and wore it like a badge of honor.
Sally says Adam has a son who adores him.
Adam wonders if he gave Connor the genetic gift of depression.
Sally says it doesn’t mean that Connor will turn out bad.
Adam says it was Connor’s idea to find the school that would help him. He took the steps to help himself.
Sally says it’s a lesson for them both.
Adam says his son is a role model for him, so he’s going to change his course… He’s going to make amends to his family and start over.
The Abbott Mansion
Jack tells Kyle that he can’t be serious about how leaving Jabot and the family was the best thing to happen to him.
Kyle says he’s never felt better. He’s free to do what he wants.
Jack says that Kyle has a son who depends on him.
Kyle says he’s done nothing to make them think he’d neglect Harrison.
Diane says they’re just trying to figure out what Kyle’s new “freedom” entails… Doesn’t he care who he hurts in the process?
Kyle says he’s spent too much time worrying about everyone else.
Jack says he’s not buying it.
Kyle doesn’t care whether Jack buys it or not. He’s living life the way he wants to.
Diane pleads with him. She says she knows him and knows he’s not this cold.
Kyle says he doesn’t need her approval to justify anything he’s been doing, and she needs to stop harping on him, or he will move out with Harrison.

Sally tells Adam she wants to believe he’s sincere.
Adam says he knows how much time and effort it will take, but he’s sure he’ll make changes.
Nick walks up to the table and tells Adam to stop getting Sharon to fight his battles for him.
Sally stands up and says she just came to see how Adam was doing.
Adam tells Nick he’s sorry that he took his conversation with Sharon that way.
Nick asks Adam if he’s ready to admit he trashed his partners because of his own ego.
Adam says he didn’t think Nick would listen to him. It was a mistake using Sharon.
Nick asks Adam what his goal is.
The Newman Mansion
Victor takes a drink and remembers the times he’d spent with Adam… They’d butted heads and reconnected so many times.
He remembers Adam telling him he wished he had never found out that Victor was his father and that he wished he’d never come back to Genoa City.
Adam had told him that he was worthy of Victor’s respect.
Victor had wondered why Adam was so different than Nick or Victoria, and Adam had said he was cut from a different cloth… He’d accepted it, and it was time that Victor accepted it, too.
Victor’s phone rings. He tells his assistant to send them in.
Sharon says she’s invited Heather to join them, so there’s no ambiguity.
They take a seat.
Sharon says she’s the sole owner of Kirsten Incorporated and had agreed to merge the company with McCall Unlimited because it was a mutually beneficial arrangement.
She says that Newman Media creates content, and Kirsten has tech that distributes the content, but folding the company into Newman Media was never part of the discussion.
Victor says he changed his mind when he thought the timing was right.
Sharon says Victor wanted to gut the company.
Heather says that Victor made the decision to get rid of most of Kirsten before the merger was even complete, and Sharon was operating in good faith.
Sharon says the company is sound and wants the chance to develop it and realize her vision for it.
Victor says he agrees… She should.
Society
Adam tells Adam that he had a goal and would have done anything to achieve it.
Nick says he turned to blackmail and backstabbing his partners.
Adam says he did. He told himself it was a smart move, but he was wrong. He says he’s been making decisions based on anger and resentment and needs to change.
Nick asks him what he means.
Adam says he needs a reset… He wants to be someone Nick and the family can accept and respect. He asks what he can do to make that happen.
Nick says he can’t help Adam… He has to help himself.
Sally says Adam’s trying.
Adam says he’s thankful Nick took the time to hear him out.
Nick says he should thank Sally.
Adam leaves the restaurant.
Nick tells Sally he doesn’t know what to make of it.
The Newman Mansion
Heather asks what Victor is referring to.
Victor says that Sharon should retain control of Kirsten Incorporated.
Sharon asks what Victor wants in exchange.
Victor wonders why Sharon is even interested in the company after what Cameron put her through, but he’s prepared to return the company to her, free and clear.
Sharon asks if she can trust him.
Victor says she doesn’t have a choice.
Heather says she’d like to see it in writing.
Victor says she’ll see it in writing. Victor Newman never reneges on a deal.
Heather says she’ll draft some paperwork. She leaves.
Sharon thanks Victor and says she’s sorry things didn’t work out with Adam.
Victor says he wishes Sharon had never approached Adam to bring him into the business and wishes that he’d never purchased McCall for him to run.
Sharon says Adam is devastated by it; it’s hitting him hard.
Victor says it’s hard on him too. He only wanted Adam to become what he was capable of.
Sharon says that Adam needs to make changes himself.
Victor wonders if Adam has psychological wounds that he’ll never get over.
The Abbott Mansion
Diane tells Kyle she can’t believe he’s using Harrison to threaten her and Jack.
Kyle says that Diane’s clinging to the idea of Kyle and Summer reconciling and everything will go back to the way it was… It’s not going to happen.
Jack says everyone needs to calm down. He says Kyle is free to make his own choices.
Diane says she’s made many bad choices and wants to stop Kyle from making a similar mistake.
Jack says that if Kyle doesn’t face what he’s dealing with, he’ll only have superficial relationships for the rest of his life.
Kyle rolls his eyes.
Diane says he’ll be lonely.
Jack says there’s a flipside to his freedom.
Kyle says he understands their concern, but he’s where he wants to be and needs the freedom to figure out what he wants. He doesn’t need his parents interfering with him.
Jack asks Kyle to sit. He says that Kyle is free to live his life as he chooses.
Diane asks if they’re never supposed to express concern about their son.
Kyle says she’s made herself perfectly clear, and he’s made all the reassurances he’s going to.
Diane says they don’t want him and Harrison to leave.
Kyle is happy they understand each other. He says even though Tucker & Ashley are out of town, they don’t need more stress.
Jack says that Ashley has claimed to accept Diane as a family member.
Diane says she won’t let her guard down.
Jack says that Billy’s now trying to limit Diane’s role at Jabot.
Kyle warned Billy not to mess with them.
Jack says it was a mistake to recruit Billy as a double agent.
Diane says that Tucker & Ashley have Billy “all fired up” about the threat she poses.
Kyle says that Billy’s probably making moves to undermine Jack, and that he shouldn’t trust him.
Jack says he hopes that Billy will come back without Tucker & Ashley feeding his worst impulses.
Kyle says that if Jack fires Billy pre-emptively, then Kyle will think about stepping back into his old role; Jack knows he can trust his son.
Society
Nick asks Sally if she believes Adam.
Sally says she believes people can change, but Nick has reason to be skeptical.
Nick says that Adam wants to be part of the family only after everything has fallen apart.
Sally says that sometimes, that’s what it takes. She says only time will tell if Adam is sincere. She asks whether Nick is going to take the position at Newman.
Nick says he’s been thinking about Sally’s thoughts on why he shouldn’t. He says he’d have to work with Nate, who he doesn’t trust.
Sally says he’d be miserable having to work with Nate. She wonders if Nick would be taking the job out of obligation.
The Newman House
Sharon and Victor talk about Adam.
Sharon says that Adam’s been through a lot of devastation and pain, which involves Victor.
Victor knows, and Adam won’t seem to let go of it.
Sharon says Adam is a wonderful father to Connor, and she won’t let go of the hope that Adam can bring out the best in himself.
Victor says he feels the same.
Sharon says it could be a good opportunity, but Victor would need to forgive Adam and give him another chance.
Victor says he’s given Adam so many chances and is tired of it.
Sharon says maybe this time is different… Adam’s lost so much at once that it’s made an impact on him and made him realize he needs to change.
Victor thanks Sharon for caring.
Sharon thanks Victor for letting her keep Kirsten.
Victor tells her to do great things with it.
Sharon says she intends to.
The Abbott Mansion
Kyle has left, and Jack tells Diane that Kyle was right… Firing Billy is already on the table.
Diane says she knows Jack doesn’t want it to come to that.
Jack says Billy was different this time… He made a commitment to Jack and the company.
Diane asks if Jack thinks Billy will back off.
Jack says he can’t see it… He knows that if he fired Billy, Kyle said he’d return to Jabot, and Billy wouldn’t be able to attack Diane. He figures he’d lose his brother the same way he almost lost Ashley if he fired him, and he doesn’t want that.
Diane says she wants Kyle back at Jabot, too… She feels like their son is slipping away.
Society
Nick tells Sally that he does feel obligated, but he’d take the job to protect what their father has built.
Sally says that Victoria already has that covered, and Victor wants everyone working at Newman together. She says that Adam didn’t fall in line, and Victor offered Nick the job to lock him in.
Sharon walks in smiling and says hello to Nick and Sally. She tells them Victor just returned Kirsten Inc to her with no strings attached.
Nick tells her it’s fantastic news.
Sharon asks if he’s decided about Newman Enterprises yet.
Nick says that he’s still on the fence about it.
Sharon says he has another option… Come and work with her to realize the dream they had for the company without Victor’s interference.
Nick is taken aback. He asks if she’s serious.
Sharon says they’ll do it right this time.
Adam’s Apartment
Adam walks in, pours a drink, and thinks about how he’d told Nick he wanted to be a part of the family he could respect.
Adam sneers and says, “As if that would ever happen.” He takes a drink.
There’s a knock on the door.
It’s Victor.

Abby wonders why Tucker returned from Paris alone and why Ashley isn’t returning her calls. What has he done with her mom?
Nikki warns Adam to stop whatever he’s scheming against Victor, or he’ll regret it for “the rest of his miserable life.”
Victoria and Victor talk about Nick’s decision not to return to Newman Enterprises, which leaves a top position open.
Victor says he knows who’s going to fill that position, and it’s not Nate Hastings.

So glad Victor came around to Sharon’s view. It was a very generous thing to do. So glad it turned out well. The last thing you want is to be on Victor’s bad side. There is no coming back from that.
