Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Summer & Kyle agreed to divorce, Nick & Sally discussed having a child, and Tessa & Mariah had a scare with Aria.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Tucker sits at the bar, and Billy enters the room.
Billy hands a server some money and thanks her for the tip. He heads over to the bar and sits beside Tucker.
Billy makes small talk and asks about Tucker and Ashley’s plans for Jabot.
The Newman Ranch House
Victor and Nate discuss Sharon, Nick, and Adam’s new company.
Nate tells Victor he’s gone through SNA’s plans for the company, and it looks like the co-CEOS each came up with a portion of the plan and put it all together… It’s lacking cohesion and unity, and there’s no single vision of what the company should be.
Victor asks Nate why he thinks that is.
Nate says that Nick and Adam were concentrated on Sally, and Adam was doubly distracted by his pursuit of Newman Media’s merger.
Victor says the merger will be handled.
Nate says Adam has created conflict between Sharon and Nick because they don’t share his fixation on gaining control of Newman Media.
Victor says it’s no longer an issue.
Nate wonders if Victor can trust Adam to fall in line.
Society
Victoria enters the restaurant and sees Ashley at the bar. She approaches Ashley and congratulates her on the wedding, saying that Tucker must have convinced her that he was a changed man.
Ashley says Tucker worked hard to convince her of his intentions.
Victoria says she didn’t think Ashley would let herself be seduced by Tucker again; maybe Ashley is the one who changed. Victoria says she’s also heard that Ashley is leaving Jabot and starting a new company with Tucker.
Ashley says it’s in progress.
Victoria notes that Ashley has reconciled with Tucker and pushed her family away. She says it seems like a ruthless move that Tucker might make.
Ashley smirks and says that Victoria is being extreme by accusing her of being ruthless.
Victoria sits down and asks Ashley if she’s going to turn her back on Jabot. She wonders if Ashley is trying to get Jabot away from Jack.
Ashley says she’s not going rogue; she and Tucker aren’t some corporate Bonnie and Clyde. She and Jack decided to part ways for everybody’s benefit, and she’s excited to start a new venture with her husband.
Victoria has a hard time believing Ashley would leave Jabot.
Ashley says her priorities have shifted; she’s in love.
Victoria says she’s happy for Ashley. She knows Jack and Billy aren’t fans of Tucker.
Ashley looks a bit uncomfortable and says that’s a bit of a sticking point.
Victoria says she hopes Ashley and Tucker are prepared for fireworks.
Ashley nods and says she is.
Victoria tells Ashley that she’s having a business rivalry in her own family with Adam trying to take over Newman Media, and she knows how divisive such things can be.
Ashley asks Victoria why she’s asking so many questions about Jabot and her family… Is there something she wants to know?
Victoria says she’s worried about how it will affect Billy. He’s in a good place as co-CEO of Jabot and seems to be in a solid relationship with Chelsea, and Victoria doesn’t want him in the middle of a corporate family war.
Ashley says that Victoria shouldn’t worry about Billy; he’s exactly where he wants to be and will be just fine.
Victoria isn’t reassured. She wonders if Billy is part of Ashley & Tucker’s plans.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Tucker tells Billy their plan for Jabot is no longer necessary because of Jack’s wedding gift.
Billy says that Ashley was skeptical of Jack’s wedding gift. He says that it didn’t seem like enough to Ashley.
Tucker says that Ashley got what she wanted from Jack and is ready to move on.
Billy says it seems unlikely.
Tucker says the situation has changed, and they don’t see a point in using Billy.
Billy says things haven’t changed from his point of view… Jack is still in love with Diane, and now they’re married, Diane will do anything to get a seat on the board.
Tucker says that’s Jack’s problem.
Billy says that Diane doesn’t know how to run Jabot, and the company is nothing more than an opportunity for her to grab more power. He says the threat to his father’s legacy still exists, and he doesn’t think that Ashley changed her mind.
Tucker says Ashley realized how futile it is to fight with Jack about the “fatal mistake” he made with Diane.
Billy laughs and says Tucker’s right about that. He says Ashley doesn’t seem to be worried about Jabot at all.
Tucker says that Billy was intrigued about running Jabot alone and can’t get it out of his head. Now he’s scared that he missed his chance.
The Newman Ranch House
Nate says he knows Victor must have a soft spot for Adam because he’s forgiven him many times.
Victor says he’ll always protect his children, no matter what.
Nate says Adam’s actions and attitude will hurt SNA, and his daily arguments with his brother are bad for a business getting off the ground. He says Adam’s unwillingness to let go of Newman Media is also a problem.
Victor asks Nate if he has any suggestions.
Nate wonders if Adam can be directed in order to create a successful company.
Victor says Adam has done it in the past. He asks what Nate thinks of Nick.
Nate says Nick is more level-headed and prefers to play safe and take no risks. Nate says a new company demands boldness.
Victor asks what Nate would do to drive the company to success if he was in charge.
Nate says Adam’s a wild card, but the biggest problem with the company is its overall structure. He says that the merger isn’t a good idea.
Victor asks for solutions.
Nate says he’d strip Sharon’s company down to its bare essentials and then fold SNA into Newman Media. He says it’s good business, and Victor sees it, too.
Victor says Adam knows it as well.
Nate says he’s sure that Victor will bring the new company into Newman to create a single powerhouse. He asks why Victor is asking him about this since Victor probably already knows everything he’s told him.
Society
Ashley reassures Victoria that Billy can handle any challenges at Jabot.
Victoria thinks that Ashley is expecting challenges at Jabot. Why?
Ashley says that Diane has a position of power there, which could get bumpy.
Victoria wonders how Jack is going to react to his new competition.
Ashley says Jack only thinks about Diane, so Ashley has to step aside.
Victoria says they could avoid each other, and it sounds like Ashley is surrendering, which isn’t like her. She can’t believe Ashley will leave Jabot and let Diane damage it.
Ashley says she’s done everything she can to get to Jack, but he won’t listen, so she has no other choice.
Victoria says that she doesn’t buy it. She wonders why Ashley mentioned Billy facing challenges at Jabot.
Ashley asks Victoria why she’s so curious about Billy.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Tucker tells Billy that he and Ashley have decided the war with Jack isn’t worth it.
Billy says that Ashley was devastated a week ago about Jabot being destroyed by Diane, and now she doesn’t care anymore. He doesn’t believe that all it took for Ashley to turn around was Jack giving her a portion of Jabot.
Tucker says Ashley has different priorities now.
Billy says Tucker seems to be icing him out. Tucker never wanted Billy to be part of it in the first place… After all, wasn’t it Ashley’s idea to bring him on board?
Tucker tells Billy that he doesn’t think he’s trustworthy… Look what he’s willing to do to his own family.
Billy says that Jabot’s going to suffer because of Diane.
Tucker says Billy should take it up with Jack.
Billy thinks Diane is dangerous to Jabot, and he won’t stand for it. He says that if Tucker cares about Ashley, he will do whatever he can to protect her and fix the situation.
Tucker thinks Billy still wants to run Jabot.
Billy will do whatever it takes to make things balanced again.
Tucker laughs and says that Billy must figure out how to dethrone Diane on his own. He leaves the club.
The GCAC
Tucker runs into Adam in the lobby. He can’t believe Adam is out in public after his recent “epic failure.”
Adam says he’s had a few failures lately… Tucker’s going to have to be more specific.
Tucker says he’s talking about Audra foiling Adam’s blackmail attempts.
Adam smirks and says Tucker should return to celebrating how he fooled Ashley into thinking he was a changed man.
Tucker says his whole world is a celebration; everything is coming up roses.
Adam says he still has the emails; maybe he’ll let them slip out to wipe the smile off Tucker’s face.
Tucker says Adam wouldn’t be that foolish. The negative press wouldn’t be good for a company Adam now owns, and Nick and Sharon wouldn’t be happy about it either.
Adam says SNA would survive, but he’s not sure Tucker would, and that’d be worth the risk.
Billy walks up to them and asks what they’re up to.
Society
Ashley says that Victoria is still protective of Billy. She wonders if Victoria has regrets that things didn’t work out between them.
Victoria says she and Billy have both moved on.
Ashley says Victoria was good for Billy.
Victoria says she has no regrets. She asks Ashley to be straight with her… Is Billy involved in something that concerns Ashley’s departure from Jabot?
Ashley laughs and asks what’s with Victoria asking about Billy.
Victoria says they share children and worries that Billy will get into trouble.
Ashley says Billy’s fine, and so is everyone else. She gets up and says it’s been fun talking, but she has to go. She leaves Victoria sitting at the bar and heads out of the restaurant.
The GCAC
Adam says he can always count on Billy sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong. He tells Billy that Tucker’s giving him a hard time about how he’s choosing to run McCall.
Tucker says that’s right. He bids them goodnight and heads upstairs to his suite.
Billy says he’s glad he ran into Adam. He asks if Adam has heard from Chelsea.
Adam says they talked, and Chelsea and Connor had a successful visit to the therapeutic school. There was an immediate opening, so they decided to stay, and they’re already getting settled in at Anita’s.
Billy’s happy to hear that. He says it must be difficult for Adam to deal with everything Connor is going through.
Adam thanks him. He says Billy must only be partially sincere; Billy is trying to put Adam at ease to get information about Tucker.
The Newman Ranch House
Nick walks in on Nate and Victor’s meeting and apologizes for intruding.
Victor tells Nick that Nate is just on his way out.
Nate thanks Victor for his time and leaves.
Nick asks his dad what the meeting with Nate was about.
Victor says he wanted Nate’s perspective on SNA’s business plan.
Nick wonders if Adam’s on the chopping block again… Is Victor thinking about replacing Adam with Nate? Nick refuses to work alongside Nate.
Tucker & Ashley’s GCAC Suite
Tucker sends a text to Audra. “Adam still a wild card. I want him dealt with.”
Ashley enters the room and kisses Tucker. She asks what’s wrong.
The GCAC Lobby
Billy tells Adam he doesn’t like Tucker and he’s certainly not working with him.
Adam says it can’t sit well with Billy that Jack married Diane. He wonders if Billy has thought about Jack promoting Diane to co-CEO, and where that would leave Billy.
Billy scoffs. He says Adam sees the world through a web of deception.
Adam says he knows Billy’s digging for information on Tucker.
Billy says if he was looking for information on Tucker, what would it matter to Adam?
Adam says he might have some information that Tucker wouldn’t want to be revealed to the public.
Billy says everyone has information on Tucker… What makes Adam’s any different?
Adam says it’s damaging information, and he might be willing to sell it if Billy did him a favor.
Billy isn’t interested.
Adam says he knows where to find him if he ever changes his mind. Adam leaves the club.
The Newman Ranch House
Victor tells Nick nobody is on the chopping block; he wanted another perspective.
Nick asks why Victor went to Nate for his views.
Victor says that Nate made some good points. He mentions that Nate thought Kirsten would be out of date in ten years.
Nick says that he and Sharon have talked about that. They plan to update the tech, and it won’t be an issue.
Victor says that Nick’s views of Nate are clouding his judgment.
Nick says there’s something else in play… Is Victor questioning Nick or Sharon’s work?
Victor says that Nate’s assessment of the company was bang on, and he agrees with Nate’s assessment.
Nick says that Nate plays the game well but not to be fooled… At the end of the day, he’ll stab any of the Newmans, including Victoria, in the back to get his way.
Newman Enterprises
When Nate walks in, Victoria is on the phone, leaving a voicemail for Billy. She hangs up and tells Nate that there might be trouble at Jabot and Billy might get caught in the middle.
Nate says it’s nice that she’s so caring towards her ex. He asks if Victoria will be so caring about him if they ever break up.
Victoria looks unhappy and says it’s not the same thing.
Nate says he’s sorry that he upset her, especially since he’s trying to rebuild her trust.
Victoria closes the door and says she’s sorry she snapped at him. She says she had a “disconcerting” encounter with Ashley, and it’s been a long day. She wants to go home, have a glass of wine and a bath, and unwind before bed.
Nate says that sounds great, and he’d love to join her, but he thinks she’s not ready to have him at her home yet.
Victoria is glad Nate understands.
Nate says he wants to have dinner with her before she heads home.
Victoria smiles and says it sounds lovely. She wonders if Nate’s good mood is related to his meeting with Victor.
Nate says he’s not sure how he feels. It was either the best meeting or the worst. He can’t figure out what Victor’s up to.
The Newman Ranch House
Sharon walks into the living room, where Nick and Victor are talking. She takes a seat beside Nick and asks what’s going on.
Nick says he has no idea, but he suspects it has something to do with Nate.
Adam enters the room and asks what’s going on.
Victor thanks them for coming and says he has some thoughts on their new company, and changes will be made.
Tucker & Ashley’s GCAC Suite
Tucker says he’s excited that they’re making a fresh start. He asks how Ashley is.
Ashley says she had a weird conversation with Victoria that had her thinking about their future together.
Tucker asks if Ashley is having second thoughts.
Ashley says Tucker knows she loves him. She says she’s having difficulty letting go of their father’s company; she spent months trying to protect her family from Diane.
Ashley thinks that if she backs out now, Billy will push Diane to the point where Jabot collapses, meaning that Diane has beat Ashley… She can’t let Diane win.
Tucker rolls his eyes.
The Abbott Mansion
Billy walks in and says hello to Jack, who closes his laptop and gives Billy his attention.
Billy says he saw Tucker and wanted to see what Ashley and Tucker had planned for Jabot. He says their surrender seems real, and they’re giving up the fight.
Jack asks if Billy believes them.
Billy says he believes Tucker wants to move on, but he wonders about Ashley… He thinks that the family company is too important to her.
Jack can’t help but wonder if Ashley’s trying to put them at ease before attacking again.
Billy says he feels the same way… Like something else is on the horizon. He tells Jack how Adam had told him he has some information on Tucker that Tucker doesn’t want the public to know about.
Jack asks why Adam would tell Billy about the information.
Billy says Adam wants to trade the information for something else.
Tucker & Ashley’s GCAC Suite
Tucker says that Diane won’t win. She doesn’t need Billy or Ashley’s help to lose. He wonders why it’s still an issue.
Ashley says it’s her family’s company and it still means a lot to her.
Tucker says they agreed she wouldn’t fight a useless, unwinnable war. She doesn’t need Jack or Jabot.
Ashley says she’s walking away from her family.
Tucker says he’s her family, too, and her obsession with Jack, Diane, and Jabot has gotten in their way for months.
Ashley says she doesn’t like it when he calls it an obsession.
Tucker says a couple of days ago, Ashley just wanted to walk away from everything.
Ashley says they need to be able to talk about this as a couple.
Tucker says he’s sorry. He wishes Ashley could focus on them as a couple and let everything else take care of itself.
The Abbott Mansion
Jack asks Billy what Adam wants from them… What does Adam think they have?
Billy says he doesn’t know. He’s concerned about what Ashley and Tucker are up to, but he’s been shut out of that information now.
Jack wonders if they’ve found out about Billy’s charade.
Billy says he doesn’t think they figured out he was playing two sides. He says that when Jack gave Ashley her part of the company, it threw her for a loop.
Jack says he gave Ashley what she wanted, and they can all move on with their lives now and end the messy war.
Billy isn’t sure.
Jack says that Billy seems disappointed they won’t have this war to fight anymore.
Newman Enterprises
Nate tells Victoria he gave Victor his assessment of SNA and pointed out the business plan’s weaknesses, mostly because of Adam’s fixation on getting control of Newman Media.
Victoria asks if Victor agreed with Nate’s assessment.
Nate says Victor seemed to like his opinion and asked how he’d handle things if he were in charge.
Victoria thinks Victor has a plan for Nate to take him away from Newman Enterprises.
Nate says he’d be away from Victoria in that case.
Victoria says she wouldn’t be on board with Nate being away.
Nate wonders if Victor is thinking about putting him in charge of SNA.
Victoria says that Victor might want to replace Adam with Nate, which would put him on equal footing with Nick and Sharon, but she doubts he’d have Nate run the company.
Nate isn’t sure. He thinks Victor probably wants a strong, singular leader.
Victoria says it’s unlikely Victor would offer Nate that title.
Nate asks Victoria if she’d try to block the move if Victor did ask him to take the position.
Victoria says that if she didn’t know Nate better, she’d think he was trying to play her for a promotion.
The Newman Ranch House
Victor says he initially thought that he’d give Nick, Sharon, and Adam three months to see how the company would perform, but he’s changed his mind. He says they’re going along with Adam’s plan to fold SNA into Newman Media.
Adam laughs and can’t believe that Victor has actually thought his idea was a good one. He asks what really changed Victor’s mind.
