Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Lily was jealous of Heather, Chelsea agreed to leave town with Connor, and Chance pondered a career as Police Chief.
The Newman Ranch House
Nikki walks into the living room and hugs Victor and he kisses her in greeting.
Victor asks Nikki about her meeting, which he thinks was quite successful.
Nikki asks who Victor’s been talking to.
Victor says that Nikki has the walk and look of a predator who had a successful hunt. He says he had a meeting with Nate.
Nikki says she’s sure Nate was very apologetic to Victor.
Victor says he explained his actions.
Nikki thinks that it’d be tough for Nate to explain since he went directly against Victor’s wishes and lied to Victoria.
Victor says Nate tried to prevent embarrassment to Newman Enterprises, and he lied to Victoria to protect her.
Victor continues that it’s all Adam’s fault since he defied his wishes and used blackmail against Audra. He says he needs to keep Adam in place for the investors, but he expects more trouble with Adam.
Nikki says that Nikki and Sharon will push back and keep Adam in check. She asks what Victor’s next move is.
Victor says he’s enlisted Nate’s help.
Nikki asks what Victor has asked Nate to do.
Adam’s Apartment
Nick tells Adam he’s doing everything he can to make their venture work, but everything that Adam’s doing is putting it in jeopardy. He can’t believe that Adam resorted to blackmail.
Adam says he’s been dealing with a family matter; Connor has been struggling.
Nick says he’s sorry to hear that, but even so, Adam found time to dig up dirt on Tucker.
Adam says it’s over.
Nick says it’s never over with Adam. He says that their dad found financing for SNA Media with the understanding that Adam would be a part of it, so they’re stuck with him.
Adam says that Nick’s anger shouldn’t be directed against him. He reminds Nick that Victor pulled the rug out from under Sally by offering her a job and then going back on his word.
Nick says that Sally told him about that.
Adam asks why they keep putting up with their father’s interference.
Newman Enterprises
Kyle knocks on Victoria’s office door, and she invites him in.
Victoria welcomes Kyle as “the new COO of Newman Media” and tells him she’s happy that Audra brought him on board.
Kyle thanks her.
Victoria says Kyle is part of the family now. He’s previously worked for Newman Enterprises, and Victoria’s father is glad to hear that Kyle accepted the job.
Kyle says the world will remain on its axis if Victor is happy.
Victoria asks how he’s settling in.
Kyle says there’s a learning curve, but he’s settling in.
Victoria says he’ll have to work closely with Audra. She asks how things are going with his boss.
The GCAC Restaurant
Audra and Nate are sitting at the bar talking.
Audra says she talked to Victor and told him about Adam’s blackmail plan, and she neutralized the problem. She says that Victor seemed to appreciate her loyalty.
Nate says that’s the opposite of Victor’s reaction to his own role in it.
Audra says she made it clear that Nate had done it only to protect the company. She says she’s grateful, and it’s over now that Victor has shut down Adam’s threat.
Nate says it may be over for Audra… For now.
Audra asks Nate what he means by that.
Nate says that Adam is still a threat. He says that the Newman family always comes first.
Audra asks Nate if he’s been driven to succeed in order to prove himself as an outsider to the Newman family.
Nate says he’s in a position of having to defend himself and his actions to Nikki and Victor.
Audra says that Nate’s hooking up with their daughter; of course he’s going to be under the microscope.
Nate says he broke their trust.
Audra says he didn’t break their trust… Ashland Locke and others broke Victoria’s trust, but Nate acted in Victoria’s best interest. She says it’s unfair that Victoria dumps her baggage on him.
Nate says it’s a matter of trust. Has Audra ever trusted anyone?
Audra says she doesn’t make a point of it. She asks if Nate’s done irreparable damage to his relationship with Victoria.
Nate says they’ll work through it.
Audra asks what he’s worried about.
Nate tells Audra that the next time she needs this kind of favor, she needs to look elsewhere. He leaves.
Newman Enterprises
Kyle and Victoria sit down. Kyle talks about changing jobs from high fashion and beauty to a media company and how they’re not that much different from a business back end.
Victoria tells him it’s not an interview; he’s already got the job.
Kyle says he knows… He’s glad to be working somewhere where there’s no family drama.
Victoria laughs. She says he and Audra have a lot of autonomy to do what they want at Newman Media.
Kyle says Audra’s very knowledgeable about the company… The numbers speak for themselves.
Victoria says he’s new, but she wants to know Audra’s approach to things at Newman Media.
Kyle says that Audra doesn’t feel threatened by others’ ideas.
Victoria presses further, asking Kyle about Audra’s time at Chancellor-Winters, and asking if Audra had talked to Kyle about it.
Kyle says it feels like Victoria’s testing him… Her questions aren’t about him, but they’re about Audra.
Adam’s Apartment
Nick tells Adam that he never wanted Sally to take their dad’s job offer because he knew Victor would mess with her head.
Adam says Victor left Sally hanging out to dry.
Nick says that Sally will get back on her feet.
Adam says that’s not the point… Victor hurt Sally, and it meant nothing to him. It was cold and calculating like a chess move, and Sally was just a pawn in his game.
Nick asks what Adam’s driving at.
Adam says that Victor has always played Nick and himself against one another, but this time he’s using a woman they care about to manipulate them. He doesn’t understand why Nick isn’t more pissed off about it.
Newman Enterprises
Victoria tells Kyle that Audra’s still fairly new to the job and leadership role, so she’s looking to Kyle for his executive experience. She says that Kyle seems protective of Audra.
Kyle says that he heard from Audra about an attempted takeover.
Victoria says that he heard about Adam’s blackmail attempt.
Kyle says things can get difficult during a family battle, and he’d hate seeing Audra become a casualty. He asks if Victor knows about Adam’s blackmail.
Victoria says that Victor knows… She tells him that Audra was the target of Adam’s blackmail.
Kyle acts surprised.
Victoria tells Kyle about the statutory rape scandal and how it could have damaged Audra’s career if the information had come out. She says it’s not surprising that she kept that information from Kyle; it was a long time ago.
Kyle asks if Victor is aware of what Audra has covered up.
Victoria says Audra told Victor everything and her position at Newman Media is still secure. She says that Victor also made Adam’s blackmail threat disappear.
Kyle says that Victoria’s questions about Audra are making sense now.
Victoria says she believes in Audra.
Kyle says that Victor made it clear that he was against the merger… How does Adam still have a job?
Victoria says that investments were made on the assumption that Adam would be involved with SNA Media, and Victor’s not exactly thrilled that Adam’s still involved. She asks Kyle what he thinks about merging Newman Media with SNA Media.
Kyle laughs and says it would be a disaster with Adam still involved.
Victoria agrees. She hopes it’s a matter of time until Adam is gone.
Kyle says their talk was very informative.
Victoria says she’s happy that she has an ally in Kyle.
Kyle says he feels the same way. He leaves Victoria’s office.
Chancellor park
Chloe walks in the park with Esther, talking about how her daughter wants a dog, but she’s against it… It’d be like having another baby to deal with.
Esther asks if there’s something else going on that Chloe’s dealing with.
Chloe says she walked away from her partnership with Sally.
Esther asks why.
Chloe says that Victor asked Sally to start a new design division at Newman.
Esther says that’s an incredible opportunity. She doesn’t understand why Chloe would walk away because she doesn’t want to work for Victor.
Chloe scoffs and says, “Because it’s Victor!”

The Newman Ranch House
Nick and Adam walk into Victor’s living room.
Victor greets them and asks if he needs to referee.
Adam says they’re not fighting. He says they agree on something for once.
Nick says that Victor offered Sally an amazing opportunity and pulled the rug out from under her… Why?
Victor says the timing was wrong.
Nick asks Victor if he had any intention of making good on his offer to Sally.
Adam asks why Victor was trying to mess with Sally.
Victor says they’re both presuming too much. He says he’s put in so much effort to make them work together and be successful, and yet they come together to protect Sally Spectra.
Nick says that Sally doesn’t need protecting.
Adam says she’s going to move on from this.
Victor asks why Nick and Adam are there; are they just trying to waste his time? He says that he changed his mind about the design division. They don’t need it, and it was a business decision.
Adam tells Victor he’s gone too far… Sally just lost her baby.
Victor tells Adam that he’s lucky he has a job. He’s had it with Adam’s constant defiance, and after his latest stunt, he’s reached the end of his patience… He wants the merger to happen by next week.
Chancellor Park
Chloe and her mother walk through the park talking.
Esther tells Chloe that working at Newman would bring Chloe to the next level.
Chloe says it’s not a normal job opportunity, and Victor isn’t generous… He won’t just hand out design divisions to people without the Newman name.
Esther says that maybe Victor is trying to acknowledge the connection between him and Sally since the baby was a Newman.
Chloe says that’s a very Victor-like way of dealing with things.
Sally walks into the park and apologizes for interrupting them.
Chloe says that her mother was imparting wisdom about Sally’s offer from Victor, and she was wrong to be suspicious… She’d like to join Sally on her new venture at Newman.
Sally says Chloe was right not to trust Victor… He’s not starting a new design division; maybe he never was.
Esther asks why he told Sally about the job.
Chloe repeats her mantra. “Because it’s Victor.”
The GCAC Restaurant
Kyle walks into the restaurant and sits down with Audra. He apologizes for being late, saying Victoria wanted to meet with him.
Audra asks what Victoria wanted from him.
Kyle says that Victoria was checking up on him.
Audra asks what Victoria’s real reason was for the meeting.
Kyle says Victoria was fishing for information on Audra, but he called her out on it. He didn’t want Audra to become a casualty.
Audra asks how Victoria responded.
Kyle says Victoria told him everything, including Adam’s blackmail over the singer.
Audra says she should have told Kyle about it.
Kyle says it was perfect… His surprise was genuine, and Victoria thought it would change how he felt about Audra.
Audra asks if he feels differently now that he knows.
Kyle says he doesn’t. He let Victoria believe that she’d planted a seed of doubt. He says that Victoria doesn’t completely trust Audra.
Newman Enterprises
Nate walks into Victoria’s office holding a rose. He says he must look like a walking cliche.
Victoria smiles and says he does, but she takes the rose he’s offering.
Nate thanks Victoria for not throwing the rose back at him. He wants to get over their problems.
Victoria closes the door.
Nate says it was a mistake for him not to tell Victoria about Adam right away.
Victoria says it was a warning sign for her.
Nate says he had nothing to gain by what he did… He was looking to protect the company.
Victoria says she’s been through it before.
Nate says it won’t happen again.
Victoria says she’s heard that before too… Why didn’t Nate just come to her about it from the start?
Nate says that as close as they’ve gotten, he’s still the outsider. He wants to have that type of connection with her. He asks her to go away with him on vacation, where they can work to get over this problem.
Victoria says it’s worth a try. They hug.
Chancellor Park
Sally tells Chloe and Esther that Victor changed his mind and decided not to bring on a design division. She says it was a business decision.
Chloe says Victor’s a jerk, and it was personal and deliberate.
Esther asks why Victor would do that.
Sally says it doesn’t matter why.
Chloe asks what Sally is going to do now.
Esther says Sally will pull herself up by the bootstraps and carry on.
Sally tells them Victor found a replacement for her at Chancellor-Winters, so they can’t work there. They’re back at square one and have to start over.
Esther says that whatever kills them can only make them stronger.
Chloe says she’s always hated that saying. Her phone rings. It’s Chelsea. She excuses herself to take the call.
Sally tells Esther that she’s been involved with two Newman men, and she put herself in that position.
Esther says that Victor had no right to treat her that way, and she’s a good friend to Chloe.
The Newman Ranch House
Nikki tells Victor that Adam is stirring things up again; this time, he’s got Nick to join him.
Victor says he’s handled it.
Nikki says Victor can only push them so far before it backfires.
Victor says he pushes them to get the best out of them.
Crimson Lights
Nick, Sharon, and Adam are talking in the cafe.
Sharon was told how Victor had made Sally the job offer, only to pull it away.
Adam says that’s what their dad does to remind people he’s in charge and had told them that if they don’t get the merger and launch done this week, Victor will step in and do it himself. He thinks that Victor is already making moves with their company.
Nick asks why Adam would think that.
Adam says that Nick knows how Victor’s mind works… He would love to put them all in their place and take over SNA Media entirely.
Sharon says that half the company would still be hers.
Adam says that doesn’t matter to Victor. They have to take the fight to him.
Nick says that’s a crazy response. Adam’s not thinking about the consequences.
Sharon says maybe they should be pre-emptive… Victor’s been changing the rules on them since the beginning.
Nick asks whose fault that is.
Adam says Sharon and Nick were both right, it’s his fault. He was focused on Newman Media.
Nick says it’s a little late to own up to it now.
Sharon says they can’t blame Adam for it all… Victor has been telling them how they should run the company from day one, and it’s almost like he expects SNA to fail so that he can swoop in and save the day.
Adam says they must find a way to take control and free Victor’s hold on them.
Nick says it’s not the way to handle things… He needs a break. He leaves the cafe.
Audra’s GCAC Suite
Audra pours a drink for herself and Kyle.
Kyle says that Audra is too smart and talented for Victoria to let her go.
Audra says that if Victoria does decide to fire her, at least they have Kyle to take her place. She says that Kyle is Victoria’s new “bestie.”
Kyle says being on Victoria’s good side is good for both of them.
Audra says that Nate told her he wouldn’t do anything to help her out of any other situations she might find herself in.
Kyle says Nate’s looking out for himself.
Audra asks about Kyle… Is he the type of guy who only looks out for himself when the going gets rough?
Kyle says he’ll always have Audra’s back. He kisses her, and she responds with passion.
Chancellor Park
Chloe returns to the park, and Esther asks how things are with Chelsea.
Chloe says Chelsea and Connor are going out of town for a while.
Sally says that getting away is just what Connor needs.
Chloe says that Chelsea is working remotely and offered her a job as her second-in-command at Marchetti.
Esther asks why Chloe doesn’t seem too excited.
Chloe says it’d just be her, and she doesn’t want to leave Sally in the lurch again.
Sally says Chloe should take the job.
Chloe asks about their company… What’s going to happen with it?
Sally says she doesn’t think their company was meant to be.
Newman Enterprises
Victoria and Nate are making out, and Victoria pushes him up against the door and locks it.
Their clothes start coming off.
Nate’s phone rings. Victoria looks over, realizes her dad is calling, and urges Nate to get the phone.
Nate reluctantly answers the phone.
Victor asks Nate if he’s had a chance to look at the Kirsten-McCall business plan.
Nate says he has, and he has thoughts about it.
Victor says he wants to hear it. He asks Nate to come over to the ranch.
Nate says he’s on the way and ends the call.
Victoria says she doesn’t like it. Victor has a plan and Nate’s part of it.
Nate says it’s a good thing; he has a chance to reestablish himself in Victor’s eyes.
Victoria says her father is pulling Nate away from her… She knows how his mind works, and it’s a smart move on Victor’s part to want to replace Adam with Nate. She doesn’t like it.
Nate says that must mean that she forgives him.
Victoria answers him with a smile and a kiss.
The Newman Ranch House
Nikki says that Victor plans to use Nate as a threat to Adam.
Victor says that Nate’s not a threat. He’s insurance.
Nikki says that Adam’s going to see through it.
Victor doesn’t give a damn; Adam’s been acting recklessly by pursuing his own interests and not focusing on the merger.
Nikki says it will only upset Adam and make him more reckless. She says that what Victor is doing is only going to create more chaos.
Victor says Nikki has to trust that he knows what he’s doing.
Crimson Lights
Sharon tells Adam that Nick will calm down.
Adam says he’s concerned about how anxious and depressed Connor is.
Sharon says the worst that Connor could have done was to bottle it up.
Adam says he fears Connor will inherit his own issues with depression, especially because Chelsea suffers from it too.
Sharon says that Connor will get help… He wants help.
Adam says that he wants Connor to get help and doesn’t want their relationship to become like his relationship with Victor.
Society
Nick walks into the restaurant and joins Sally, who is sitting alone and looking into a glass of wine.
Nick asks how Sally is doing.
Sally says she’s been better.
Nick tells her that he and Adam went to see their dad and to call him out for what he did to Sally.
Sally wishes Nick hadn’t talked to Victor; he’ll think it was her doing.
Nick says it’s not about Sally. It’s never just about business with Victor. He says that Adam and Sharon are looking to find a way to get out of Victor’s control.
Sally asks if breaking away from Newman Enterprises will make things worse.
Nick says he can’t take much more.
