Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Jack & Ashley finally buried the hatchet, and Nate convinced Victoria to merge Newman Media with Adustus.
Summer’s GCAC Suite
Summer finishes writing on her laptop when her phone pings her with a text message from her mom to meet in the park.
There’s a knock at the door. It’s Daniel. He asks if she got a text from their mom to meet up.
Summer says she did. She’s finished with her mom’s nonsense.
Daniel thinks Phyllis is probably trying to find a way to stay out of prison. He wonders what they will walk into when they meet with her.
Summer is pretty sure it’s going to be another nightmare.
Chancellor Park
Phyllis is setting the table in the park when Lauren arrives.
Lauren tells Phyllis she’s done well on the setup.
Phyllis asks where Michael is, and Lauren says he’s still in Singapore working on Gloria’s legal issues.
Lauren says it seems that Heather did a great job for Phyllis.
Phyllis says she turned the judge around.
Lauren says she’s happy for Phyllis.
Phyllis says she set everything up in the park for family and friends to celebrate her freedom.
Crimson Lights
Adam hands Sharon his phone, showing her a listing for some office space.
Sharon thinks Adam would prefer a more modern office space.
Adam says he wants a space that’s different than Newman Tower.
They talk about the various spaces they’ve been looking at, and Sharon mentions that they need to have room for Mariah at the offices as well.
Adam says they can’t forget about Phyllis either.
Sharon suggests they move on to a different topic… Has Adam thought of a different name for the company since “everyone in their right mind” hates Adustus?
Adam suggests, “Touche,” but he likes the sound of “Newman Media.”
Sharon says that “Newman Media” is already taken.
Adam says that’s never stopped him before.
Audra’s GCAC Suite
Nate enters Audra’s room, and she asks him how things are going with convincing Victoria to merge Newman Media with Adustus.
Nate says it’s getting there.
Audra says she talked with Adam, and he’s serious about releasing the damning emails if Audra doesn’t come through.
Nate says it’ll work out, but it will take time.
Audra says he needs to get Nikki and Victoria on board.
Nate says he knows but can’t overstep his boundaries, especially with Nikki.
Audra says Adam’s not going to wait forever.
Nate says he knows what’s at stake for Audra, but she’s asking a lot of him.
Audra appreciates Nate’s support.
Nate says he thinks the merger will go ahead anyhow. He says he’s walking a fine line, and if things look like they’re going badly, he’s out.
Newman Enterprises
Nikki walks into the office and talks with Victoria.
Victoria asks how Nikki’s meeting was.
Nikki says it was good until she ran into Diane… That’s an easy way to kill a good mood.
Victoria can’t believe Jack married Diane.
Nikki says that Ashley and Tucker were there, and she also brought up their wedding invitation.
Victoria thinks Tucker and Ashley are an “odd coupling.”
Nikki says she doesn’t understand either and isn’t sure whether Victor will attend the wedding, even if he returns from his trip in time. She asks what Nate and Victoria talked about after she left and wonders what Victoria thought about the merger.
Victoria asks Nikki what she thinks first.
Nikki says Victoria won’t like what she has to say. She thinks Nate is testing the waters, and it’s the first step of a power play.
Victoria says she agrees.
Nikki laughs and says she can’t believe Victoria agrees with her.
Victoria says there’s nothing wrong with Nate wanting to make a power play; he’s looking out for the company.
Victoria tells her mom that Nate has made some good points about having two media companies under the same corporation, but he’s not suggesting they make any moves behind Victor’s back.
Nikki says running the idea by them first was a good idea. She wonders if Nate is aware of the tension between Adam and Victoria and why he thought Victoria would agree to a merger.
Victoria says Nate knows about her rivalry with Adam but only thinks about the business.
Nikki asks if Victoria discussed how Audra would fit into the merger since Audra would be under Adam in the corporate structure. She thinks that’s another reason to question Nate’s loyalty.
Audra’s GCAC Suite
Nate says he can’t guarantee this will work out, but he’s doing his best. He wonders if there’s something that they could offer Adam in return if it doesn’t work out.
Audra says that Adam isn’t willing to negotiate.
Nate thinks Audra could spin it differently… He thought she loved a challenge.
Crimson Lights
Sharon hopes Adam is joking. She says Victor already shot down the idea of merging the company with Newman Media.
Adam says Victor never actually shot down the idea. He says Victor is waiting to see how they handle McCall when they get it off the ground.
Sharon says Adam’s putting everyone in a tight spot if he continues to go after Newman Media, and she doesn’t appreciate it, and neither will Nick.
Audra walks into the coffee shop at that moment.
Adam tells Sharon he feels that Victor will be more accepting of the merger soon.
Sharon notices Adam’s glance at Audra and asks what Adam is up to now.
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Daniel tells Summer they need to be prepared if they’re meeting with their mother.
Summer says that Phyllis told her that Tucker is why Carson is back in town and Tucker is blackmailing her.
Daniel knew something was up between them.
Summer says that their mom is using Adam now to get around Tucker.
Daniel asks when they stop buying into Phyllis’s bad decisions.
Summer says she can’t longer twist herself into knots over her mom’s bad decisions.
Daniel says Summer seems different, somehow.
Summer says she is different. She’s not shut down; she’s just found new ways to cope and move forward.
They agree to be there for each other, and they head off to meet with Phyllis and tell her that they’re “done with her insanity.”
Chancellor Park
Phyllis tells Lauren she’s invited Daniel and Summer, but she wanted Lauren there because Lauren supported her through everything.
Lauren says she loves Phyllis, and so does Michael. She says she’s proud of Phyllis.
Phyllis says that Michael agreed to defend her, and that gave her a lot of confidence.
They laugh about how Phyllis put Heather through the wringer, but she’s free now.
Phyllis says she won, and Christine didn’t. She’s surprised Christine went along with the judge’s decision. She says that Lauren and Michael are her best friends.
Phyllis opens a bottle of champagne.
Lauren hopes Phyllis doesn’t take her freedom lightly. She hopes Phyllis learned something from this whole situation.
Phyllis laughs and says, “Don’t fake your own death. It’s a bad idea.” She says she did learn a lot. She says that she’s been fighting her whole life, but she’s not doing it anymore.
Summer and Daniel walk into the park.
Phyllis says she’s going to change and embrace her freedom. She’s living a new kind of life now.

Crimson Lights
Adam asks Sharon if she’ll excuse him for a minute. He goes out onto the patio with Audra.
Adam asks Audra how things are going.
Audra says it’s going to be hard… Victor’s not in the country.
Adam says Victor will be back soon.
Audra says that Victoria is reluctant to approach Victor with the idea.
Adam says Victoria hates him and thinks he’ll push her off her throne.
Audra asks him why Newman Media is so important to Adam… Surely there must be other things that she could help him acquire?
Adam says that he wants her to stick to the plan.
Audra says that Victoria is getting resistance from Nikki.
Adam suggests that Audra become friends with Nikki to get her on board.
Newman Enterprises
Nate walks into the office and wishes Nikki and Victoria a good afternoon. He gives Nikki an update about their clients and their meeting.
Nikki’s phone pings. She says Audra wants to meet with her. She leaves the office.
Nate closes the door behind Nikki and asks Victoria what she thought of the merger.
Victoria says she’s thought about it and is unsure if the idea is worth discussing.
Chancellor Park
Daniel and Summer approach Phyllis and Lauren’s table and ask what’s happening.
Phyllis says she’s a free woman, and the charges have been dropped.
She says she pled guilty to all the charges, just like they wanted her to, and explained to the judge what happened with Jeremy.
Daniel asks if Phyllis is going to prison.
Phylis says she’s been sentenced to community service and probation.
Summer says she didn’t see this coming.
Phyllis asks why they’re reacting the way they are.
Summer says that a lot has happened leading up to this moment.
Phyllis says she knows they’re angry about how she handled things, but she wanted to throw a party to celebrate her freedom.
Summer asks what they’re celebrating… The torture that Phyllis put her children through? The lies she told?
Phyllis says they’re missing the point. She wanted to acknowledge them for supporting her. It’s an apology for the pain and anger she caused.
Summer says they’re not angry anymore.
Daniel says they’re not angry, but they’re done with the drama.
Newman Enterprises
Nate asks Victoria why she doesn’t think the merger is worth discussing.
Victoria says she looked at Newman Media’s financial projections and is happy with how it’s performing… Audra’s doing a great job, and Victoria is having a problem getting past the fact that Adam would be involved.
Nate doesn’t think Adam is worth worrying about.
Victoria says that Nate shouldn’t have to deal with Adam. She thinks that they should stay out of each other’s way.
Nate says that having two media companies will get in the way.
Victoria says he might be right, but they don’t have to make any moves with Newman Media performing the way it is.
Nate says he loves working alongside Victoria.
Victoria says it’s not the time to upset their father. She wants to know what Adam, Sharon, and Nick have planned for Adustus.
Nate says it’s a ridiculous name.
Victoria laughs and says Adam will probably never accomplish anything with Adustus because he’ll be too busy arguing with Nick.
Nate says he accepts Victoria’s decision and won’t bring it up again until she does.
The GCAC
Nikki enters the restaurant, and Audra stands up and thanks her for meeting her.
Audra tells Nikki that they haven’t spent enough time getting to know each other.
Nikki says she first knew Audra as the woman who broke her grandson’s heart.
Audra says she’s sorry about what happened with Noah. She hears he’s doing great things in Europe.
Nikki says he’s thriving.
Audra invites her to have a seat and asks to get Nikki’s feedback on her performance at Newman Media.
Nikki thinks there’s more to it than that. She doesn’t like to be played or buttered up. She wants directness. What is this really about?
Audra says she heard rumblings that Adam might be making moves on Newman Media.
Nikki says just because Adam wants something doesn’t mean that he’s going to get it.
Audra says she’s happy at Newman Media, but she thinks that the merger is a good idea, since there are a lot of redundancies between the two companies… And she doesn’t want to be a redundancy.
Nikki figures this is what Audra really wants to talk about.
Audra says she’s looking out for Newman Media but wants to stay with the job to continue to help it thrive.
Nikki asks where Audra is getting her information.
Audra says she’s done her due diligence.
Nikki asks if Audra got the idea about the merger from Nate.
Audra says that she hadn’t discussed it with Nate… She thought about it on her own.
Nikki says it’s an interesting idea, but she’s opposed to it, as are Victor and Victoria. She asks Audra never to bring it up again.
Chancellor Park
Phyllis asks Summer what she means by saying she’s done.
Summer says they’re done with Phyllis’s betrayal. They’re happy that she’s not in jail, but she hopes she means it when she said she learned a lesson from it.
Phyllis says she really means it.
Summer says she has to prove that she can change first.
Phyllis asks Daniel if he feels the same way as Summer.
Daniel says they were close to reconciling, but her lies just kept coming, and then they found out about her dealings with Tucker and Adam.
Phyllis says Tucker forced her hand with Carson, and she needed something to hold over Tucker’s head, so she approached Adam, who gave her some dirt on Tucker.
Daniel says that Phyllis is tied to Adam now. He’s angry about it.
Lauren says that Phyllis is going to figure it out now that she’s not going to jail.
Daniel scoffs and says nothing ever changes with Phyllis.
Summer thinks that Tucker paid Carson to lie to the judge.
Phyllis can’t believe it. She says that Carson saw what happened through the motel window; it’s all true.
Summer says it’s too convenient.
Phyllis says Carson is a non-issue now; the charges were dropped.
Summer says that Carson isn’t the issue… The problem is the way Phyllis pushed them away and lied to them. Champagne and cake won’t make everything better; she’s out of touch.
Phyllis says she will prove to them that she’s going to change.
Lauren says they should meet her mom halfway and keep an open mind and heart.
Phyllis says she did everything to protect Summer and Daniel.
Summer says Phyllis destroyed her marriage, and she’s lost Kyle and Harrison now.
Phyllis says she wants to fix things.
Daniel says making them believe her will take more than her word.
Phyllis asks what she needs to do to fix it.
Daniel says she needs to figure that own on her own.
Summer says goodbye, and she leaves the park with Daniel.
Newman Enterprises
Nikki walks off the elevator and sees Nate in the lobby. Nikki tells Nate she just had a very interesting conversation with Audra.
Nate says he was surprised that Audra reached out to Nikki. He hopes it wasn’t a waste of time.
Nikki says Audra told her that merging the two companies is a good idea. Nikki doesn’t think it’s a coincidence that Audra and Nate feel the same way.
Nate says he wasn’t aware of how Audra felt; he hadn’t spoken with her.
Nikki says Nate’s playing an interesting game, and she doesn’t advise that he continue down that path.
Nate says Victoria said the same thing, and it’s not an issue anymore… He won’t bring it up again. He gets on the elevator and leaves.
Crimson Lights
Adam tells Sharon they can get Nick to weigh in on the office space options once he returns from his trip.
Sharon says that Adam shouldn’t try to distract her. What did he have to speak with Audra about?
Adam says he was scoping out the competition.
Sharon warns Adam not to try anything shady with Newman Media.
Adam says Sharon’s blowing it out of proportion.
Sharon says they’re working on something important, and she’ll be damned if she lets Adam’s vendetta against his sister mess things up.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Summer tells Daniel that she can’t believe their mom turned to Adam the moment there was a new threat in her life.
Daniel says it’ll only lead to more trouble. He wonders how long until Phyllis needs their help again.
Summer says she’s changed and is done with her mom’s B.S. Summer needs to focus on her own life and move forward. She won’t let anyone, especially her mother, get in her way.
Chancellor Park
Phyllis sits with Lauren. She says that wasn’t how she expected the meeting to go with Summer and Daniel, but it was “fun.”
Lauren waves her hands at the table and says it’s time to stop the pity party. She says that Phyllis deserves a toast. They raise their glasses.
Phyllis says she’ll win her children’s hearts back.
Lauren says they love Phyllis and are testing her. They know she can change, they just need to see it.
Phyllis tears up and says that Lauren’s a great friend.
Lauren tells Phyllis to buckle up; things are about to get wild.
Crimson Lights
Adam tells Sharon that he does not intend to harm their company. He only wants to make it as solid and great as possible.
Sharon thinks he wants to sabotage his competition.
Adam tells her that she worries too much. He leaves the cafe.
Newman Enterprises
Nikki asks Victoria if she spoke to Nate about the merger.
Victoria says she told Nate that she changed her mind and was no longer considering the merger. Nate accepted it, and they moved on. She asks why Audra wanted to meet with Nikki.
Nikki tells Victoria that Audra pitched the merger idea as well. She says Audra sounded just like Nate, and her gut tells her that Nate and Audra are up to something.
Audra’s GCAC Suite
Nate walks into Audra’s suite and asks what she said to Nikki.
Audra says she pitched Nikki the idea of the merger.
Nate gets angry and says he told Audra he would handle Nikki and Victoria his own way.
Audra says she doesn’t have the luxury of time; Adam is applying pressure on her.
Nate tells Audra that whatever she said to Nikki set off her alarm bells, and the merger isn’t happening now.
Audra says she’s screwed now… Adam has her, and she’s going to lose everything.
Next week on The Young and the Restless
Sally shows up at Adam’s apartment with a housewarming present.
Nikki tells Victor they have big problems… And the problems’ names are Nate and Audra.
Abby tells Ashley she doesn’t have to go through with her wedding if she’s not ready.
