Y&R Recap – Wed Mar 27: Lily Terminates Daniel & Heather Despite Billy & Devon’s Counsel; Chelsea Persuades Adam to Enroll Connor

Lily Winters, Heather Stevens, and Daniel Romalotti.

Today’s Young and the Restless recap airs in the USA on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, and airs one day ahead in Canada. We post our Y&R recaps every weekday!

Last Episode

Ashley, Tucker, Christine, Danny, and Phyllis.

On the last episode of Y&R, Tucker offered to go to therapy with Ashley, Danny & Christine shrugged off Phyllis’s false alarm, and Sally reminded Adam to focus on Connor instead of his own feelings.

Crimson Lights

Adam and Chelsea talk in the cafe over coffee. Adam says they should make sure Connor has everything he likes to eat.

Chelsea Lawson talks to Adam Newman.
CBS

Chelsea tells Adam they need to figure out Connor’s triggers. He wasn’t eating enough at school because he feared contamination, but they need to know the specifics. Was it because the food was plated “incorrectly” for him? There’s so much they don’t know, and they need to figure it out.

Adam says they’ll figure it out.

Chelsea says they can’t just guess what Connor needs or dislikes.

Chelsea and Adam.
CBS

Adam asks if Chelsea is relieved that Connor is back home… Adam is.

Chelsea says she’s not.

Adam says it’s been a long time since they saw Connor smile like he did when he walked into Chelsea’s apartment. He thinks sending Connor to his school was more of a setback than a solution.

Adam talks to Chelsea.
CBS

Chelsea says he shouldn’t think that… The school picked up on things they would have missed; they would have thought that Connor was just a picky eater or that he liked his desk to be organized. She says the school served a purpose and got them to this point.

Adam says a weight was lifted from Connor’s shoulders when he came home.

Chelsea says that the first thing Connor did when he got home was to make sure nothing was moved around in his room. His issues won’t go away because of a change of scenery; he’s focused on numbers and obsessed with germs.

Chelsea talks with Adam.
CBS

Adam says Connor’s back home now, and they can get him treatment in Genoa City.

Chelsea knows Adam is struggling with Connor’s diagnosis, and Chelsea is too, but nobody is struggling more than Connor. It doesn’t matter what they feel or what they want. They have to make a decision for Connor’s sake.

Daniel’s Apartment

Daniel picks up a picture of him and Lily together. He puts it away in a drawer as Heather walks into the room. Daniel tells her that he doesn’t know why Lucy is nervous about introducing them to Waylon; what parents in their right mind would let their daughter go to the prom with someone they’ve never met?

Daniel Romalotti talks to Heather.
CBS

Heather asks what would happen if he met Waylon and didn’t like him, even though Lucy is over the moon about him… Would he actually tell Lucy that she couldn’t go with him?

Daniel says he might.

Heather laughs and says that’s funny… Daniel is the biggest pushover when it comes to Lucy that she’s ever seen.

Heather Stevens-Romalotti talks to Daniel.
CBS

Daniel protests that he’s said no to Lucy plenty of times… Like when she was three years old and wanted to learn how to drive!

Heather says Lucy’s always made good decisions about the people she hangs out with, and she doesn’t think this time would be any different.

Daniel says it’s true; he hopes that Waylon isn’t like Daniel was at his age.

Daniel and Heather.
CBS

Heather laughs. “Fingers crossed.” She looks at her phone and says that as much as she’s enjoyed not talking about Chancellor-Winters, it’s time to head to the office.

Daniel groans.

Heather says they should head in separately and go to their separate offices so they don’t have to make it harder on Lily.

Daniel agrees. He says Devon also asked him not to rub it in Lily’s face. It’s probably best if they do it that way.

Heather talks to Daniel.
CBS

Society

Lily enters the restaurant and joins Devon at his table. She says lunch was a good idea.

Devon says Lily often forgets to eat, which he can’t relate to, but he’s gotten used to it after all these years.

Devon Hamilton-Winters talks to Lily.
CBS

Lily asks if the lunch was his way of distracting her from Heather and Daniel.

Devon says if it was, she just ruined it by mentioning both of them.

Lily says it’s because she knows what she has to look forward to when she goes back to the office.

Lily Winters talks to Devon.
CBS

Devon says she has no reason to see them when she heads back.

Lily says she had Esther set up a meeting with them to catch up on what she’d missed while she was gone… Though she’d rather have a root canal than meet with them.

Devon tells her to cancel the meeting. He can catch her up on everything.

Devon Hamilton-Winters.
CBS

Lily says she can’t just avoid the head of their gaming division and a key legal team member. The sooner she gets it over, the sooner she can return to work, where it’ll be business as usual.

Devon asks if Lily thinks there’ll be a time when seeing both of them in the office won’t bother her.

Lily thinks it’ll always bother her… Which is why she thinks it best to fire them both.

Lily Winters.
CBS

Billy walked in while they were talking and overheard Lily’s last sentence. He asked what she had just said… Are they planning another corporate purge? What’s going on?

Devon tells Billy they were talking about terminating Heather and Daniel’s contracts.

Billy nods. That’s what he heard. He asks what the reason behind it is.

Billy Abbott.
CBS

Devon says there’s a reason, but they don’t need to discuss it right now. They simply feel it’s necessary.

Billy says it is his business. He’s on the board and works for Chancellor-Winters, so he thinks he deserves more information.

Devon says he’s aware and asks Billy to trust them. He doesn’t want the argument to become a “paranoid” Chancellor vs. Winters argument.

Devon looks at Billy.
CBS

Billy takes a seat and says it sounds like they’re not confident in their decision if they won’t tell him what’s going on. He wants to know if there are any other company divisions they plan on “gutting” behind his back.

Lily says firing two people isn’t exactly gutting a company division.

Billy says it is; Daniel literally built the gaming division. He asks again what their reason for firing Daniel and Heather were… Was he getting a vote on it, or would he find out in the corporate newsletter?

Devon Hamilton-Winters.
CBS

Devon says they were going to tell him.

Billy says he wouldn’t have heard about it until after it had been done… Even though Devon is the one who’s been paranoid about corporate power moves.

Lily says Billy stole her office while she was taking care of her daughter.

Lily smiles as she takes a sip of coffee.
CBS

Billy says he did that. He asks how Mattie is.

Lily says she’s good. She asks what Billy’s plans are now that she’s back; is he going back to Jabot so she can have her office back?

Billy says he’s happy to move his office, but he’ll be staying at Chancellor-Winters.

Billy Abbott.
CBS

Devon and Lily think the Abbotts would love to have Billy back at the family company.

Billy agrees, but he has to stay at Chancellor-Winters to ensure his mom’s interests are represented, which means he will be part of every decision the company makes.

Daniel’s Apartment

Heather tells Daniel his job is safe; she’ll be the one who loses her job. She says Lily told her she could fire her because she thinks Heather targeted Daniel from the moment she returned to Genoa City. She says Daniel is the head of the gaming division, and she’s just another lawyer on a team that was doing fine before she arrived.

Daniel talks to Heather.
CBS

Daniel says Devon reminded him that Chancellor-Winters owns OmegaSphere’s intellectual property and will continue to benefit from it whether or not Daniel is working for them.

Heather says she’ll investigate whether there’s a legal argument they could use to prevent Daniel from being let go.

Daniel says he signed a contract; he’ll leave if they want him gone. He says Devon is looking out for Lily; he can’t blame him.

Heather says Daniel put his heart and soul into OmegaSphere. He turned his life around, but he may lose the company he created. She wonders if Daniel regrets getting back together with her.

Heather talks to Daniel.
CBS

Crimson Lights

Adam is happy that Connor is home, but he’s not suggesting that they throw up their hands and admit defeat. He says Connor has serious issues.

Chelsea says Connor has OCD. They love him enough and have to admit that he has this problem, but they can’t manage it by themselves. They have to make a decision as soon as possible.

Chelsea talks to Adam.
CBS

Adam says it’s a mistake to rush it.

Chelsea says the doctor told them that the sooner Connor gets in-depth treatment, the sooner he’ll get the tools he needs to handle the illness.

Adam asks why she doesn’t want a second opinion before they send Connor away again.

Adam rubs his face as he talks to Chelsea.
CBS

Chelsea says it would probably be the same outcome, and they’d waste time in which Connor could be getting treatment. She asks Adam if anything the doctor told him seemed untrue. She says Connor told them about the germs and the counting… Does Adam really think Connor has been misdiagnosed?

Adam says he’s not a doctor; that’s his point.

Chelsea says she’s not asking him anymore; she’s begging him to get on board with her. She says they have to show Connor his condition is manageable with the proper help.

Chelsea Lawson talks to Adam.
CBS

Adam says they’ll get their boy whatever help he needs.

Chelsea says she researched the residential programs and found an impressive one in Maryland. She thinks Adam will be as impressed as she was when he reads about it; she emailed him a copy.

Adam asks why they aren’t looking closer to home. He says even if it is the best residential facility, Connor still has to get on board with it; if they force him to go anywhere, it could make it worse.

Adam Newman.
CBS

Chelsea says Adam shouldn’t tell Connor that he doesn’t need to go away if he doesn’t want to… It’s not helpful.

Adam says it was important to let Connor know his opinion matters to them. He says Connor told him he felt like a freak and didn’t want to go to a “hospital for crazy people.”

Chelsea says Adam and Connor both need to understand that there’s no shame in getting help, and it’s not a hospital that Connor would be attending. If they show Connor that they accept it, he’ll learn to accept it, too. She says she’ll work on Connor and convince him that going to the facility will help him, but she needs Adam on her side. She says they can be the parents that Connor needs them to be, but they need to be on the same team and put aside their differences

Adam finally relents and says he’ll look at the material she sent him about the facility in Maryland.

Chelsea Lawson.
CBS

Society

Billy asks Lily and Devon what will happen to the gaming division after they fire Daniel; will they shut it down and sell off the Intellectual Property (IP), or do they have a plan?

Billy Abbott talks to Lily Winters.
CBS

Devon says they haven’t gotten that far yet, but they’ll welcome Billy’s input when they do.

Billy isn’t so sure… They won’t tell him the reason behind the firings; it must be serious because Lily is firing the person she’s in a relationship with.

Lily doesn’t say anything.

Lily Winters.
CBS

Billy figures it out. She’s not in a relationship with Daniel anymore.

Devon asks him to drop the subject.

Billy reasons that something happened between Daniel and Heather, and now Lily wants them both fired.

Billy Abbott.

Daniel’s Apartment

Daniel figures Heather might be the one who’s decided that he’s more trouble than he’s worth.

Daniel smiles as he talks with Heather.
CBS

Heather says she adores him, and her heart flutters when she sees him. He’s the father of their daughter, and she’s excited to start a new chapter in her life with him… She has no regrets.

Daniel takes her hand and promises he has no regrets either. He knew he needed to show her he was the man she could count on. He’s lucky she’s here with him.

Heather smiles as she talks to Daniel.
CBS

Heather says, unfortunately, it’s not the best timing for Lily or for Daniel’s career. She says OmegaSphere helped him turn his life around.

Daniel says he loves OmegaSphere and is proud of the people it helped. He says it helped his mom reconnect with his dad because of the music in it, and Lucy is the best beta-tester that anyone could ask for. He says OmegaSphere came about as a way for him to improve himself and to bring Lucy and Heather back into his life; it seems to have served its purpose! He promises that no matter how things turn out at Chancellor-Winters with Devon and Lily, he’ll be fine.

Heather nods.

Daniel talks to Heather.
CBS

Daniel says he was a painter but moved into video games. He never thought he’d be a video game designer, but here he is. He says he’s not worried about him; he’s concerned for Heather.

Heather asks why he’d be concerned for her.

Daniel says one of the reasons she came back to Genoa City was because of the job at Chancellor-Winters.

Heather talks to Daniel.
CBS

Heather says she appreciated the job offer and liked the work, but she liked it more because it kept her close to him for 40+ hours a week! She says she can find a new job in town.

Daniel says they have a lot to look forward to regardless of what happens at Chancellor-Winters.

They kiss.

Daniel and Heather kiss.
CBS

Society

Lily congratulates Billy on his deductive skills and confirms that she and Daniel aren’t an item. She says Daniel and Heather were together, and she didn’t know about it.

Billy is sorry to hear it and is sorry she’s been hurt. He asks if this is why they’ve decided to fire Heather and Daniel.

Billy Abbott.
CBS

Devon says it’s a good enough reason to fire them.

Billy disagrees but understands Lily is hurt and doesn’t want to see Daniel or Lily at the office.

Lily says it’s not about being hurt; it’s about the success of her family’s company.

Lily Winters.
CBS

Billy says she needs to explain that part… As far as he knows, OmegaSphere is doing very well, and Heather has found her place in the legal team.

Lily says the tension will affect the work environment. She says people will find out about Daniel and Heather, and it will make them uncomfortable.

Billy says a possible wrongful termination lawsuit would be worse than tension at the office.

Devon Hamilton-Winters.
CBS

Devon says nobody will sue them… He’s already talked to Daniel about it, and he’s accepted responsibility for it.

Lily says Heather doesn’t want to create any drama either.

Billy says they’re being short-sighted. A wrongful termination suit could arise when Heather or Daniel realize their finances will be impacted by their firing or for other reasons that neither Lily nor Devon have considered.

Billy Abbott.
CBS

Lily thanks him for his unsolicited advice.

Billy says he’s sorry… It makes him angry that Daniel would cheat on her while she was away, but their decision to fire Daniel and Heather is a mistake; they’re letting their emotions dictate their professional decisions. They hired Daniel and Heather, who rekindled their relationship with each other, and that didn’t cross any lines except the ones around Lily’s heart. He says he hates that Lily’s going through this, but they have to find a way to separate the personal from the business because they’re about to make a decision that’s going to be difficult to come back from. He leaves the table and takes a seat at the bar.

Devon tells Lily that Billy may be annoying, but he has some valid points.

Devon talks to Lily.
CBS

Lily doesn’t agree. She says Jill hired her and Billy as a team at Chancecom because Jill didn’t trust Billy’s judgment, and she doesn’t think that’s changed. She says Billy has no right to judge her for her business decisions.

Devon says he understands, but they should wait until the dust settles before they make any decisions.

Lily says she’s not waiting; she’s already made her decision. She says Billy lectured her about keeping emotions out of business, but he’s never kept them out of his business decisions! How should she feel when she sees Daniel and Heather daily at her own company?

Lily gestures as she talks to Devon.
CBS

Devon says she’ll eventually learn how to cope with it.

Lily says she’s done with the conversation. She picks up her bag and leaves the restaurant, passing Abby on the way out.

Abby walks up to Devon and asks what just happened with Lily.

Devon talks with his girlfriend, Abby Newman.
CBS

Daniel’s Apartment

Daniel tells Heather he’s figured out how they can work together while doing what they’re best at… They have to open a fancy art/law boutique!

Heather doesn’t think that’s really a thing.

Heather smiles at Daniel.
CBS

Daniel jokes that they’ll sell a painting with every lawsuit; how could it possibly fail? He stares into space for a moment and sighs, saying it’s hard to forget he’s the guy who broke Lily’s heart.

Heather says she wants to be with Daniel no matter what. She’s not even sure she’ll be comfortable staying at Chancellor-Winters because of her guilt. She says she’ll let Lily fire her first, and maybe Lily will be happy enough she won’t fire Daniel afterward.

Daniel says they need to stop second-guessing things and get proactive by doing something that will benefit everyone involved. Maybe he should resign first to keep the peace.

Daniel Romalotti.
CBS

Crimson Lights

Adam reads the document that Chelsea had sent him. He says she’s right; the program seems to be top-notch, the program director is world-renowned, and former patients rave about how it changed their lives. Connor’s school vouches for it, too. He wishes there was a place like that for him when he was growing up. He may not have OCD, but he had plenty of other issues.

Chelsea says she felt the same way when she read it; they both had complicated childhoods that led to complicated adult lives. She wants Connor to look back and know they did everything they could for him.

Chelsea Lawson.
CBS

Billy walks in and greets them, saying that Summer told him he could find them there. He sees they’re looking at the facility’s website and says it seems pretty great.

Adam asks how Billy knows about it.

Billy says Chelsea told him about it and he read up on it. He says it’s the type of place a parent could trust to help their child.

Billy Abbott talks to Adam and Chelsea.
CBS

Chelsea agrees; Connor needs guidance… They all do.

Adam says Billy’s in the loop and already has an opinion… Adam feels like he’s outnumbered. He asks if it’s an ambush.

Chelsea says it’s not an ambush. She emailed Billy the information so he could take a look; Adam should consider it as a second opinion.

Adam Newman.
CBS

Adam says he wanted a second opinion from a professional mental health expert, and Billy isn’t one of Connor’s parents, so why should Billy have a say in this?

Billy says he doesn’t have a say in it. Chelsea asked him for his input, and that’s what he’s providing.

Adam says he wants Billy to know that this is only his and Chelsea’s decision to make.

Billy nods. He couldn’t agree more.

Billy talks to Adam.
CBS

Society

Devon and Abby sit at the bar and talk. Devon tells Abby that Billy had just found out about Lily wanting to fire Heather and Daniel. Devon had said that Billy had made some good points, and Lily stormed off because she didn’t want to talk about it anymore.

Abby Newman talks to Devon.
CBS

Abby says what they put Amanda and Chance through was similar to what Lily is going through… Though theirs was worse.

Devon says he’s thought about the similarities, too. He says Lily’s getting through it and will be fine, but she’s angry and hurt. He says Billy pointed out that emotional reactions have real-world ramifications, but he’s hoping they can find a solution that causes the least amount of damage possible… Maybe Heather and Daniel can work from home, or if not, they can work on a different floor in the building.

Abby says he seems to be avoiding the other obvious solution to the problem.

Abby and Devon talk.
CBS

Devon says he realizes that Billy might be right; firing Daniel and Heather could be a mistake.

Abby disagrees. She thinks Daniel and Heather should be fired.

Crimson Lights

Daniel and Heather grab a coffee and discuss their upcoming meetings with Lily. Daniel thinks it’s going to be excruciating.

Daniel talks to Heather.
CBSa

Heather says it’ll be fine as long as they keep it professional.

Daniel thinks they could reschedule the meeting.

Heather says that would make them look like cowards.

Heather talks to Daniel.
CBS

Daniel says he’ll put them out of their misery and resign.

Heather won’t let him do it. OmegaSphere was his passion, and he can’t just say it’s served its purpose of bringing them back together and walk away from it. He’d regret it for the rest of his life!

Daniel says it’s a chance he’s willing to take.

Daniel talks with Heather.
CBS

Heather suggests that they might need a cooling-off period. Lily may be angry right now, but she seems reasonable and level-headed.

Daniel shoots Heather a look as Lily walks into the cafe, and Heather looks around.

Lily looks over at them. She didn’t expect to see them there.

Lily looks at Daniel and Heather.
CBS

On the cafe’s patio, Billy tells Adam not to get mad at Chelsea for keeping him in the loop. He’s trying to support Chelsea; she needs someone to lean on. He says he’s not trying to tell Adam how to raise his kid.

Adam says that’s good to know.

Adam glances at Billy.
CBS

Billy asks if Adam has anyone to talk to about things. He says Adam and Chelsea both need support to figure out what’s best for their child.

Adam says Sally gave him some useful advice, including what Billy had just mentioned. He says Connor needs them more now than ever before, and they need people around them to support their decisions… If that helps Connor, that’s all that matters. He says they should move forward and do whatever it takes to get Connor into the program.

Chelsea smiles and takes Adam’s hands.

Chelsea smiles at Adam with tears in her eyes.
CBS

Society

Devon asks Abby why she thinks Heather and Daniel should be fired.

Devon talks to Abby.
CBS

Abby says that when she and Devon got together, Amanda left to go to Wisconsin to care for her mother and because she didn’t want to see Devon and Abby every day.

Devon nods. True.

Abby says Lily and Daniel have been close since they were kids; Lily may be hurt right now, but she won’t begrudge Daniel his happiness with Heather. She thinks Daniel and Heather should resign out of kindness to Lily; Lily shouldn’t have to dread going into the office and seeing them every day.

Abby talks with Devon.
CBS

Devon says that may be true, but it would be unprofessional or unethical for Lily to punish them for a personal matter.

Abby asks if Devon thinks Lily should “just deal with it” instead of demanding their resignation.

Devon says Lily’s been through worse, and she’ll get over it. In the meantime, he’ll do whatever he can to keep her away from Daniel and Heather.

Devon Hamilton-Winters.
CBS

Abby says Devon is the CEO of Chancellor-Winters; he shouldn’t have to worry about seating arrangements to protect his sister!

Devon says he’d also be protecting his company; Billy had pointed out that there were legal consequences for firing them, and Heather is an attorney. They don’t know how they’ll react to being fired for falling back in love.

Crimson Lights

Lily approaches Heather and Daniel. Heather backs up as she approaches until she’s beside Daniel. Lily says she would wait until she got to the office to talk to them, but she might as well tell them now. She says she spoke with Devon, and they’re both terminated, effective immediately; they’ll give them a great severance package, and that’s how it is.

Lily Winters.
CBS

Daniel says he’s sorry that it had to get to this point.

Lily says he should have thought about that before he betrayed her.

Heather looks on as Daniel talks to Lily.
CBS

    1. Lily is making a mistake firing Daniel and Heather for personal reasons. She is going against the advice of both Billy and Devon. She actually “terminated them effective immediately” because “Daniel should have thought before betraying her.” It looks and sounds like a wrongfully terminated court case to me in real life.

  1. She should have asked Heather to resign. She was calculating and desperate. She should have been up front from the start. She is conniving and how can she trust her.

  2. I really really hope Heather & Daniel sue Lily for wrongful termination… If Heather doesn’t, then I hope Amanda will!
Seems like she tries to protect the employees against Devon and Lily.
Lily although hurt, was completely unprofessional!
I’m sure Jill will have something to say about this too.

    1. Lilly’s acting on anger which is understandable. I feel she should have sought legal advice before firing them. Billy’s right she may have made matters worse if they decide to sue for wrongful termination. Technically they did NOTHING to endanger the company and Chancellor-Winters was thriving until Heather sank her claws into Daniel. Devon’s work at home was an EXCELLENT idea. Hope her decision doesn’t come back to bite her.
