Today’s Young and the Restless recap airs in the USA on Thursday, April 18, 2024, and airs one day ahead in Canada. We post our Y&R recaps every weekday!
Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Phyllis learned about Jordan from Nick and Summer, and Traci prepped Ashley for her doctor’s appointment.
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Chelsea is sitting at the bar when Billy approaches. He kisses her and asks if she’d like to get a table with him.
Chelsea says she came to let him know that she had to cancel their meeting. Connor’s therapist wants to have a video call to talk about his status and treatment.
Billy thinks that’s a good thing; at least she’ll know what comes next.
Chelsea says not being able to talk to her son when she wants to is driving her crazy.
Billy says the doctor should be able to give her an update on when she and Connor can talk.
Chelsea’s desperate to know what’s happening with him.
Billy hopes the talk with the doctor puts her mind at ease.
Chelsea says she’s worried about something else, as well… She’s not doing the call to the doctor alone.
Adam swaggers in with his usual bad attitude and asks Chelsea if she’s ready to hear what these “so-called doctors” have been doing to their son.
Society
Phyllis stands outside the restaurant, talking to Summer on the phone. She reassures Summer that Jack, Victor, and their teams will get Harrison back.
As Phyllis talks on the phone, she sees Daniel and Danny inside the restaurant. She asks Summer if she told Daniel about any of the Harrison business. Summer responds, and Phyllis promises she won’t say anything about it to Daniel or do anything crazy.
Chancellor-Winters
Nate and Devon walk into Lily’s office. They ask if she wanted to have the meeting to discuss the latest earnings reports, which were pretty “spectacular.”
Lily says the numbers are great, but she has bad news. She says Daniel is suing Chancellor-Winters to keep control of Princess Louisa and the other games he developed on the OmegaSphere platform.
Devon asks what the legal team has to say.
Lily says they said the contract is clear and ironclad. Chancellor-Winters owns all the Intellectual Property related to the gaming division.
Devon nods. That’s a good thing.
Lily is sure that Heather, who is Daniel’s attorney, will try to find a loophole, but their legal team is confident she’ll lose, and so is Lily.
Nate asks if there’s any chance this news will stay out of the business press.
Devon thinks the media will be all over it.
Nate wonders if it’s worth going to war with Daniel… Maybe they should give him what he wants!
The GCAC Dining Room
Billy tells Adam that actual respected and accredited doctors are taking care of his child.
Adam asks Chelsea if the call will just be the two of them.
Chelsea says Billy won’t be on the call, but he’s right… These are doctors who are trained to deal with Connor’s problems.
Adam says the doctors don’t know their son like his parents do, and he doesn’t want them to forget it.
Chelsea says they’ll make sure to give them insight into their son because they do know him better than anybody.
Billy says it sounds like they’re on the same page. He kisses Chelsea and heads back to the office.
Adam asks if they should make the call now.
Chelsea says they won’t make the call until Adam promises to “drop the attitude” and the resistance he’s displaying. He needs to go into this with an open mind.
Adam says he has an open mind.
Chelsea gives him a doubtful look.
Adam says he’ll do his best.
Society
Daniel asks his father why he’s not back at the apartment doing some last-minute frantic packing.
Danny says there’s been a big change in his plans.
Daniel wonders if his “rock star father” is hanging up his keyboard, canceling the tour, and moving back to Genoa City.
Danny says he’ll be a rock star forever… No matter where he lives. He says he’s had to push his schedule while Cricket decides if she’s going on the tour with him.
Phyllis saunters up, having overheard the last bit of their conversation. She says that Cricket is waffling… Yet again! She laughs.
Chancellor-Winters
Lily asks Nate why he thinks they shouldn’t fight Daniel’s lawsuit… OmegaSphere is the biggest reason their profits are so great right now; why would they give Daniel what he wants?
Nate says Daniel created the game and built the entire gaming division, and Lily already took away his job to punish him… Isn’t that enough?
Lily says she’s not punishing anyone; Daniel was fired for the sake of company unity and morale. She asks if Nate wants her to reward Daniel for hurting her.
Nate says he’s not defending what Daniel did or how she handled it, but she should think about the spin that Heather would put out… Does Lily want to be accused of destroying someone’s career out of spite over a bad relationship? He says that’s not who she is or what the company should be.
Billy walks in and says that it’s the Daniel vs. Goliath lawsuit, with Chancellor-Winters as the big bad monster… It’s not a good look! He says it looks petty and will lead people to question her leadership.
Lily laughs and says this is ridiculous… How did she become the bad guy in this?
Adam’s Apartment
Chelsea and Adam enter his apartment. Chelsea fusses with her hair in the mirror and says she’s nervous and doesn’t want to look like a mess on the outside, even though she feels that way on the inside.
Adam says she looks good and calm.
Chelsea says she knows he has doubts about the facility but reminds him he said he’d hear the doctor out and won’t fly off the handle.
Adam agrees. They sit down, and Adam starts the video call on his tablet.
Dr. Hammond answers.
Chelsea says she didn’t realize it’d be Dr. Hammond alone. She asks if the care team has given her updates and reports on Connor.
Adam says they want to know how Connor is doing and what his day looks like since they can’t talk to him themselves.
Dr. Hammond says that Connor’s OCD therapist and his trauma therapist work closely with her, and she can answer any questions they might have.
Adam asks why Connor needs a trauma therapist.
Society
Daniel asks his mother if she’s meeting someone or picking up takeout.
Phyllis asks if he’s asking her to leave.
Daniel says he wasn’t.
Phyllis sits down with them and thanks him for the invite. She tells Danny that “the bug” is backing out, which doesn’t shock her.
Danny says she doesn’t know the whole story… Christine was offered a very important case, and she’s deciding whether or not she should take it.
Phyllis says Danny is holding up his entire tour while Christine decides whether or not she should take a case. He’s putting his career on hold for the bug! She says Christine would never do the same for him.
Danny says it’s none of her business, but they’re leaving a little early so they can have some time together before the first concert. He says he didn’t cancel any shows by pushing the trip back.
Phyllis says she bets him an order of empanadas that Christine will choose her career over him.
Adam’s Apartment
Chelsea asks Dr. Hammond why Connor needs a trauma therapist.
Dr. Hammond says they’re still getting to the root of what’s happening with Connor, and in his first sessions with Dr. Majors, the trauma specialist, there was evidence of comorbidities.
Adam asks what she means by “comorbidities.”
Dr. Hammond explains that it means that two conditions are existing simultaneously… In Connor’s case, it’s OCD and trauma. She says it’s too early to say, but it’s possible that Connor’s OCD was a response to traumatic incidents, but she wants to make it clear that his OCD isn’t caused by the trauma.
Adam asks what traumatic incidents she’s talking about; what did they do?
Dr. Hammond says nobody’s to blame for Connor’s OCD. She says they’ve learned that Connor carries an overwhelming sense of guilt; he believes that things that happened between and to his parents are his fault. She says his pain is complex and led him to question why he was even born.
Chancellor-Winters
Lily says she’s not the villain in this story; Daniel cheated on her with a woman who is now his attorney… Surely, that’s a conflict of interest!
Billy says Lily fired Heather, Daniel’s attorney, for what can only be seen as personal reasons.
Lily says she recommended Heather for the job in the first place, even though she was Daniel’s ex.
Billy says she fired her for being his “current.” He hates to point it out, but it’s a business concern for him, not a personal judgment about Lily.
Nate agrees. They’re pointing out scenarios that could adversely affect Chancellor-Winters. He says they should let Daniel get what he’s asking for and let him walk away with what he brought to the table.
Lily says Daniel brought an idea and some artwork “to the table.” Chancellor-Winters brought the team, the coders, the designers, and the office space. They funded the whole platform, and if they gave it away, that would undermine all their work. She says rebuilding a gaming platform would be too expensive and cause them to lose time in the marketplace; it doesn’t make sense to eliminate their highly profitable gaming division!
Nate says OmegaSphere can survive losing two or three of its video games; the division will be fine.
Lily disagrees. OmegaSphere doesn’t have any games in development to replace the ones they’d lose. They’d be stagnant for months or years.
Billy says it would be better than Lily being painted as a vindictive, scorned co-CEO. She doesn’t want to be seen as someone who would chase after her enemies instead of running an empire.
Lily asks for Devon’s help; this is smart business, right? If they give up the gaming division, they won’t just be losing out on a few video games, they’ll be losing on on merchandise and movie tie-ins.
Devon says she’s right, and he agrees with her.
Billy asks Devon if he’d still agree with Lily if Billy wasn’t the one who brought it up.
Devon asks if Billy’s implying he’s making business decisions for the sole purpose of contradicting Billy.
Billy says it’s a simple question. He says the thing that really gets his goat is that the Winters are having a meeting about a major company issue without his involvement. If he hadn’t walked by, he would have no idea that the company is headed for a train wreck, and there will be a PR nightmare when the media gets ahold of this.
Devon says Billy doesn’t have to act like he should be part of every single conversation in the office. He tells him to get over himself.
Lily tells them to stop… This is a big waste of time.
Nate says they have to focus on the issue at hand; a decision has to be made on how to proceed.
Lily says she’s aware, but they’re not going to decide based on Devon and Billy’s argument. They should take the matter to the board and let them vote on whether they should give Daniel what he wants or whether they should go to court over it.

Society
Danny tells his son he’s still in shock that Lily fired him over what happened between him and Heather.
Daniel says it was bound to happen. Lily wouldn’t want to see him at the office every day.
Phyllis says it was a cheap shot on Lily’s part.
Danny agrees. It wasn’t professional.
Phyllis takes Danny’s arm and tells him they see eye-to-eye. They should ask Christine, but, oh wait, they can’t because she’s more interested in her career than being with Danny.
Danny looks at his phone and says he has to get going.
Phyllis asks if the “queen bug” summoned him to her castle with all her royalty.
Danny ignores what she said and says goodbye to her. He tells Daniel he’ll see him at home and leaves the restaurant.
Daniel asks his mom why she’d said she’d accepted that she and Danny would never be “a thing” and that she’d moved on.
Phyllis shrugs. “And?”
Daniel says it was a lie.
Adam’s Apartment
Chelsea asks Dr. Hammond what would make Connor wonder why he was born.
Dr. Hammond says it’s one of his intrusive thoughts; it’s something Connor’s OCD tells him. She says it’s hard to hear, but she needs to be as honest as possible so they understand what Connor is up against with his OCD.
Adam asks if the team of specialists believes that Connor’s OCD was caused by the trauma that his parents inflicted on him.
Dr. Hammond says they don’t believe that, but they don’t know what trauma is behind it yet.
Adam asks what the plan is for moving forward.
Dr. Hammond says they’ll treat the OCD and trauma separately but simultaneously. She says the OCD and the trauma often feed off one another, so they need to address them both.
Chelsea asks how it happened.
Adam nods; what did they do wrong?
Dr. Hammond says as parents, they shouldn’t try to find blame. It’s not healthy or productive.
Chelsea and Adam ask how they’re supposed to help Connor get better. They haven’t been able to see him or speak with him; are they going to be able to?
Dr. Hammond says Connor is a strong and determined kid, and they use journalling as one of their tools. They’ve encouraged him to write down his thoughts and fears, and today’s assignment was to write down the top three things that scare him the most. Writing about them will force him to explore how they make him feel.
Adam asks if that’s supposed to help Connor.
Dr. Hammond understands Adam’s concern, but he needs to trust the therapy. It’s been very successful with others who are suffering from the same disease, and this is only the first step of ERP (Exposure, Response, Prevention). They’ll expose Connor to the things he fears so he can build the tools he needs to cope.
Adam says that they’re forcing Connor to repeatedly experience the things that trigger his OCD. How is he supposed to get through this without his parents by his side? How will they get through it?
Chelsea tells Adam that they have no choice if this will help their son get better.
Chancellor-Winters
Devon asks if Lily really wants to take it to the board… He thinks it’s something they should handle themselves.
Nate agrees… They should hash it out now without involving the board; the fewer who know about it, the better.
Billy says he agrees with Lily that taking it to the board is a good idea. It’s the smartest compromise and the fairest solution.
Devon says Billy thinks the board will vote his way.
Billy says they’ll find out. He leaves the office.
Nate apologizes. He never meant for Billy to overhear what he thought was a private conversation.
Devon says it’s fine; he’s glad Nate gave his honest opinion.
Nate smiles and leaves the office, leaving Lily and Devon alone.
Lily asks Devon to tell her honestly… If Billy hadn’t been arguing against her decision, would he have sided with her so easily?
Adam’s Apartment
Adam and Chelsea finish their video call with Dr. Hammond.
Chelsea is in shock. She says it’s so much to take in; how did Connor carry this with him for so long?
Adam says he still wonders if the doctors know enough about the disease to know what works.
Chelsea says the doctors have experience with this, just like any other illness.
Adam says Connor deserves more than just guesswork.
Chelsea thinks it was her issues that triggered Connor’s OCD. She says it all started when she was on the rooftop. She thinks Connor blames himself for her problems.
Adam says the doctor said the OCD was inside Connor all along and would have come out at some point. His OCD is because of everything he’s gone through.
Chelsea says the doctor told them not to blame themselves, but she’s having a hard time with that.
Adam says Connor thought his father was dead, but then he just showed up one day. He says Connor was held hostage at gunpoint and had to go to therapy for that as well.
Chelsea says it all started with her on that rooftop. She put herself into therapy and told Connor the truth because she thought it was the right thing to do, but maybe it was the wrong thing to do… She says that, combined with Rey’s death and finding out that Johnny was his brother, must have pushed him over the edge.
Adam says they tried protecting Connor, but they just didn’t see it. All the chaos he’s been through is too much to take for an adult, much less a child. He says the doctor said the word trauma is often overused, but in their family, it’s not!
Chelsea wonders how they missed seeing that their son was suffering so badly.
Society
Phyllis tells Daniel that she’s moved on from Danny. She cares about him, and thinks Christine will hurt him.
Daniel says his dad is a “big boy” and doesn’t need Phyllis worrying about him or feeling sorry for him. He asks what’s going on with her.
Phyllis says she’s got a lot going on.
Daniel asks how much of it is work-related. He apologizes that her job might be at risk because of his problems.
Nate and Chance walk into the restaurant, and Phyllis waves at them. She tells Daniel they must know about his lawsuit.
Daniel says they do… And they should be worried about it. Heather thinks they have a solid case and can win it.
Phyllis tells him that’s good; go after everything he can get.
Daniel says he wants what’s fair.
Phyllis says she has some “inside information,” and Daniel’s mess isn’t the only problem at Chancellor-Winters right now. He should consider himself lucky that he got out and is moving on to greener pastures. She looks over at Chance and Nate and wonders what they’re talking about; maybe it’s something that would be useful for her!
Daniel says they should slide over a little closer and eavesdrop.
Phyllis says she’d never do that… Don’t be silly!
Daniel says she’d 100% do it if he wasn’t there if she thought they were talking about something that would mean good news for her.
Phyllis says he’s right… Who wouldn’t want to hear good news?
The GCAC Dining Room
Danny approaches Christine at the bar. He kisses her and says he was thrilled to get her text. He says he has something for her. He pulls out an “official concert t-shirt” that she can wear, and says as soon as he’s finished his show, he’ll come straight to her.
Adam’s Apartment
Chelsea says there’s nothing they can do for Connor except love him. They can’t tuck him in at night, and she knows he’s been at boarding school before, but this is different.
Adam asks what happens after the doctors unravel everything that’s wrong with Connor. He wonders if the treatment will lead Connor to hate them.
Chelsea says Connor wouldn’t hate them; he loves them and knows they love him, too.
Adam thinks Connor might blame them for his misery.
Chelsea says once Connor overcomes his trauma and is in control of his OCD, he won’t hate them. Adam can’t expect Connor to push everything down and pretend he’s okay! She says Connor has to get better. His OCD isn’t going away, but he’ll have the tools to get better and lead a happy and healthy life. She says they can’t make it about their insecurities or guilt… They have to do what’s best for Connor.
Adam wonders if what’s best for Connor is never to see his parents again.
Chelsea says she doesn’t believe that would ever happen. They’re not going to take Connor from them!
Adam says they might be the triggers for Connor’s OCD… Why wouldn’t they take him away from his triggers? What will happen when Connor turns eighteen and tells them that he’s had enough of their trauma and is leaving home and will never see them again?
Chelsea says Connor will come home to them. She says Adam is bringing his own darkness into this with his irrational thoughts, and she can’t have this conversation with him.
Adam says that’s fine, but they can’t avoid this conversation forever.
The Residential Facility
Connor sits on a bench in front of the facility with a journal open in his lap. After a moment, he closes the journal and puts it aside. He starts reciting numbers.
The GCAC Dining Room
Danny tells Christine he hopes that she’s decided in his favor; tell him what he can say to convince her!
Christine says it’s not about her wanting to go with him… She does want to.
Danny says she should just go, then. He’ll dedicate every song to her and will serenade her. She’ll have anything and everything her heart desires!
Christine says he’s loving and generous and makes her feel adored, but her client needs her. She can’t walk away from this case any more than he could walk away from his tour.
Danny gets it. He says he’s disappointed, but he understands, and her client is lucky to have her.
Christine says he’s sweet to make her feel better; she wishes she could have told him what he wanted to hear.
Danny says he was looking forward to spending time together.
Christine says it’s not the end for them. She was thinking that she might come by on a weekend.
Danny likes that idea a lot.
Christine says they should make the most of their time together before he goes.
Danny says that’s an offer he can’t refuse. They kiss.
Chancellor-Winters
Devon glances around outside of Lily’s office and shuts the door. He tells Lily that he would have sided with her whether or not Billy was arguing against her.
Lily is thankful. She thought she was alone in it.
Devon says she’s not alone. Everything she’s said about hanging onto their valuable IP makes sense, but Billy and Nate had valid points, too; Heather has the ability to make them look really bad to the press. He says if they settle and give Daniel what he wants to avoid going to court, that would mean they’re trying not to let things get “ugly.”
Lily says things already have gotten ugly, and she doesn’t plan to lose out on anything else because of Daniel and Heather.
Society
Phyllis asks Daniel why he’d care if she wants to exploit conflict in a company that fired him.
Daniel says he doesn’t get why she’d want to get involved in a high-stakes situation that’s only going to get more complicated by her son’s lawsuit.
Phyllis says she’s not getting entangled with anything.
Daniel doesn’t believe her. He can see the gears turning in her head.
Phyllis says, “Watch this.” She gets up and walks over to Chance and Nate’s table. She says she’s going to get right to the point; she can’t believe that they would condone Lily firing Daniel and Heather over something so petty!
Nate says what they think isn’t any of Phyllis’s business. He knows she wants to defend her son, but this is a business move.
Phyllis asks Chance what he thinks about it.
Chance says it’s above his pay grade.
Phyllis says he’s new to the job, but he’s already mastering the art of corporate doublespeak. She says she’s going to ask Billy what he thinks of it… What does Chance think Billy thinks?
Chance says she’ll have to ask Billy.
Phyllis says she’s heard that there’s a lot of discontent in the Chancellor-Winters C-suite.
Nate says there’s nothing going on that she needs to worry about.
Phyllis says she won’t worry her pretty little head. She reminds Nate that she’s still a Chancellor-Winters employee and will have to talk to Billy about things… Maybe he’ll give her a real answer.
Chancellor-Winters
Devon tells Lily things will only get as “ugly” as she wants them to get.
Lily says if she got what she wanted, Daniel would have resigned, and there wouldn’t be any talk of a “nuisance suit” against them.
Devon hopes Lily understands that Daniel has a case because she fired him without cause.
Lily says there was plenty of cause. Daniel cheated on her while she was helping her daughter through an emotional trauma! She didn’t throw a fit or break anything; she graciously accepted the situation for what it was, and now Daniel wants to fight her and let his girlfriend trash her in the courts of public opinion! She says they can try, but Daniel isn’t walking away with anything. She’s tired of playing nice! She storms out of the office.
Crimson Lights
Billy and Chelsea talk over coffee. He asks if she wants to talk about her conversation with the doctor.
Chelsea says it doesn’t matter how well you know a person or how many times you held their hand while they fell asleep… You can’t really know what’s happening in a person’s head.
Billy asks what the doctor said.
Chelsea tells him that Connor has been diagnosed with OCD and trauma. She says they’re treating him for two disorders.
Billy’s sorry to hear that.
Chelsea says Adam was “pretty good” on the call, but afterward, he said he feared they’d lose Connor by pushing him through the program. He thinks Connor will resent them and be angry at them for everything he’s going through.
Billy says it’s not their fault, and Adam needs to find a better way to process it without dumping his panic on Chelsea.
Chelsea wonders what will happen if Connor decides he’s better off without them.
Adam’s Apartment
Adam makes a phone call to Sharon. He asks if she can help him before he makes things worse.
