Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Mamie asked Nate to come back to Chancellor-Winters, and a conflicted Sally told Nick she’s falling in love with him.

Jack pepares flowers and arranges candles as Diane walks into the restaurant in a silver dress. Jack says she’s a vision and wonders how he got so lucky.
Diane says he’s really outdone himself, and can’t wait to see what’s next.
They kiss.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Lily asks Mamie what her plans are for Chancellor-Winters.
Jill wonders as well.
Mamie says only Jill would show up to a private party that she wasn’t invited to. How rude!
Jill says she had to find out if Mamie was the secret investor.
Mamie says it’s wonderful to be able to support a successful business and reconnect with her family. She has an opportunity to be a strong presence in her family again.
Lily says that Jill and Mamie may not get along well, but she’s really to have Mamie back.
Nate says it’s been too long since Mamie was in town. Video chats aren’t enough.
Mamie tells Jill that life is so fragile, and she wants to be with her family and make up for lost time.
Jill says it’s a crock. There’s something else going on, and she wants to know what it is. She says Chancellor-Winters wasn’t looking for investors, this seems like a back-alley deal. Victor was a silent minority partner who didn’t need the cash, so why would he put his stake up for grabs? She asks Victoria if she had something to do with it.
Victoria emphatically says she didn’t.
Jill asks Abby if she knew about this.
Abby says she didn’t. Everyone knows she’s out of the loop.
Jill asks Mamie why there’s all the secrecy around it.
Mamie says Jill is looking too deep for something that isn’t there.
Lily says it was out of the blue. After all, Mamie was in town for the bicentennial gala; why didn’t she say anything then?
Mamie says she wanted to be a part of their lives… Isn’t that explanation enough?
Devon tells Mamie she didn’t have to invest in the company to spend more time with them.
Nate says they’re all just surprised and thinks people are making it sound harsher than they mean to. He says that Mamie trying to bring the family closer together is a loving gesture.
Devon says he can appreciate Mamie wanting to get the family together, but he wants to make sure that Mamie knows that Nate is not part of Chancellor-Winters and is speaking for himself.
Lily agrees. Because of Nate, they’re wary of family making secret moves when it comes to the company.
Mamie says that’s why she’s there… She wants to put the animosity behind them. Life is too short, and love and family matter above all else. Perhaps she can help them remember that.
Society
Diane and Jack clink their glasses in a toast. Diane thanks Jack for the special moment together.
Jack says he asked Abby if he could close the restaurant for a private party, and waited until she said yes before he told her it was a private party for two.
Diane says Jack’s amazing.
Soft jazz starts to play, and Jack asks Diane to dance. They dance slowly, enjoying each other’s company.
Diane says she’s a little nervous about tomorrow… It’s the icing on the wedding cake, but she has pre-wedding nerves, even though they’ve been married for months.
Jack says they’ve been through a lot, and it’s ok to be nervous.
Diane says her days have purpose now, and loving Jack feels so natural. She doesn’t know if she can get used to feeling so lucky. For so long, she felt that she didn’t deserve happiness.
Jack smiles and hugs her tightly as they dance. He says they should restate their vows at the beginning of the ceremony.
Diane smiles and says she’s on board.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Mamie asks Jill why she only sees shadows and secrets. It’s her family she’s supporting, it’s nothing to do with Jill.
Jill says she knows who Mamie really is, and finds it hard not to doubt her motives.
Mamie says Devon was right; she didn’t have to make an investment in order to spend time with the people she cares about, but why not take advantage of a good business move at the same time?
Jill says Mamie really knows about taking advantage.
Mamie wags her finger at Jill and says she stood beside John Abbott as he built his empire, and took good care of the Abbott children.
Jill says it wasn’t Mamie who stood beside John.
Mamie says they’ve both grown since they left the Abbott house. She figures Billy, Jill’s son, would want them to have peace, not conflict. She asks Victoria what she thinks about that.
Victoria says that it may be surprising, but Mamie is part of the Winters family, and the company is, after all, Chancellor-Winters.
Jill says Victoria has no skin in the game… She has a lifetime.
Mamie asks Jill if she wants to spend the rest of the time they have left bickering with each other.
Jill says some things never change… Mamie never misses an opportunity to throw her words back at her.
Mamie says Jill thinks her feelings are the only ones that count, but they aren’t. She says that when she was there last, she could tell that Lily and Devon’s relationship had soured, and she decided to help them by doing what John would do… Help protect the family legacy.
Jill figures Mamie is only bringing John up to make Jill out to be the shrew who didn’t deserve him. She says it’s not about John or her either. She demands that Mamie tell her why she took over Victor’s investment in Chancellor-Winters.
Mamie says Victor told her about the threat of the company going public, and she didn’t want that to happen when the family was so broken up.
Lily says she appreciates that, but Mamie’s investment caught them off-guard.
Mamie says it doesn’t matter whether she approached Victor or whether he approached her… The result is the same.
Jill gets angry and says it does matter. She thinks Mamie went to Victor and was playing an angle, so she must have a goal in mind.
Mamie asks Jill what she thinks her goal is.
Jill says maybe it’s just to piss her off. She says they need to get down to brass tacks… How much would it take to buy Mamie out?
Mamie says her stake isn’t for sale. It’s a sound investment.
Jill asks if there’s any number that Mamie would accept.
Mamie says there’s not. She has faith that Lily and Devon can take Chancellor-Williams to the next level, and she wants to support their efforts, even if it includes Jill.
Jill laughs and says she’s the Chancellor in Chancellor-Winters! Of course it includes her.
Mamie asks if they can stop talking about business. The evening was supposed to be a lovely reunion in a room that has meaning to all of them.
Lily agrees. She thinks Neil would want them to enjoy being together without business getting in the way.
Mamie raises her glass and asks everyone to toast to family, friends, and togetherness.
Nate raises his glass and says, “Here’s to family.”
Glasses are clinked, and Mamie tells Jill she’s welcome to stay for the festivities, but she has to stop going on about Mamie’s “intentions.”
Lily asks Jill to stay… She has so much to be thankful for.
Jill says that none of them really knows what’s going on here.
Victoria says it’s a room full of big personalities.
Devon says he’s happy they’re still a private company and don’t have to answer to Wall Street.
Lily says she’s happy they can be together in person.
Jill says she will stay because she’s sure they’ve only heard part of the story from Mamie.

Diane tells Jack she could dance with him all night.
Jack says they have to eat sometime, and he arranged for a very special pre-celebration dinner. They sit down.
Diane says he really takes care of her. She raises her glass and toasts to their love and their family. She asks Jack if he thinks Kyle will stand up with Jack as his best man… After all, he didn’t even bother to show up at their civil ceremony.
Jack thinks Kyle was blindsided by their announcement at first and was going through problems with Summer, as well as blaming Jack for his departure from Marchetti.
Diane says they’ve been making up for past hurts lately… Maybe they can do the same with Kyle.
Jack peers at her curiously and asks if she’s talking about healing Kyle’s heart or if they’re talking about giving him back his old job.
Diane says they can’t heal Kyle’s heart.
Jack says he can’t just cut Billy loose and put Kyle in his place. It’d be mending one relationship, but destroying another.
Diane says she’s not asking Jack to choose between his brother and his son.
Jack says he loves Kyle and wants to work with him, but Billy is part of the Abbott family legacy, and it would be a mistake to cut him loose for personal reasons.
Diane asks if it would really be personal. Billy has done things in the past that compromised the integrity of Jabot.
Jack says Billy admitted he was tempted by Tucker’s offer to run Jabot on his own, but he didn’t give in to the temptation.
Diane says she knows Jack is loyal to his brother, but how strong is Billy’s loyalty to Jack?
Jack says it’s not easy for him, he has to think things through. If he cut Billy loose now, there would be ramifications… Not just from inside Jabot or from the family, but from the outside world. The appearance of unsteady leadership in the company could harm the investor’s view of the company.
Jack continues that he’s worked hard to rebuild his relationship with Billy and he thinks it’s good for Billy’s stability.
Diane asks what Jack means by stability.
Jack says that when Billy feels abandoned or isolated, he goes to some dark places.
Diane asks if Billy’s that fragile. She says Jack’s approval means a lot to Kyle too.
Jack says he’s trying to keep the family legacy alive, and Jabot has been through a lot of leadership changes, including John, himself, Jill, and Victor!
Diane laughs and says Jill has a colorful past with the family and Jabot.
Jack says with Mamie back in town, Jill’s past is all too present. Whatever history Mamie and Jill have was settled years ago. He hopes they’re able to let go of their past. He asks why they’re talking about other people, when they should be talking about their future together. He says their love and commitment is solid, and they can conquer anything.
They clink their glasses in a toast.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Jill, Lily, and Devon are talking by themselves. Jill asks what they think of Mamie’s investment. She says if they knew her like Jill knows her, they’d be suspicious too.
Devon says he don’t really know her, so it’s hard for him to have an opinion. He doesn’t understand why she was so secretive, though.
Lily says she doesn’t want to make the night about Jill’s suspicions. The company is strong and growing… They should just focus on that.
Devon says he’s fine with that; as long as there isn’t an IPO, he’s happy.
Jill says there are other issues.
Lily asks Jill to just drop it. She says that Jill should let Mamie feel like she’s part of something bigger with her family, and not feel like she’s a threat. She’s family, and she’s not backing down. They just need to welcome her.
Jill says Devon is right, she doesn’t know the history between them. She agrees to hold her tongue unless Mamie “comes after her.”
Mamie tells Victoria she’s pleased that she’s working together with Nate and says that he’s brilliant.
Victoria smiles and says Nate is an impressive man.
Mamie says that Nate got into medicine like his mother and then branched out to start a path of his own… That takes a lot of grit, and she’s proud of him.
Nate thanks her.
Mamie looks up at Neil’s portrait and says that Nate may not be his son, but she sees a lot of Neil in him.
Victoria says Neil’s presence is felt today. Her phone rings, and she excuses herself from the table.
Mamie tells Nate that she can tell there’s more than a working relationship with his boss.
Nate tells her to stop… He’s a grown man!
Abby looks uncomfortable and says she’s going to leave them to talk together. She gets up and joins Devon, Lily, and Jill at the bar.
Mamie asks Nate what happened to “that doctor lady”. She got good vibes from her.
Nate says things didn’t work out between him and Elena. They weren’t growing in the same direction.
Mamie says he was growing in the direction of Victoria.
Nate tells Mamie to be careful.
Mamie asks if Victoria was the reason that Nate broke up with Elena.
Nate says how he and Victoria got involved is “a story for another day”, but Mamie would just have to listen and not pass judgment.
Mamie laughs and says Nate is asking a lot of her.
Nate says he doesn’t see his mom often, so it’s significant and meaningful to have Mamie in back in town.
Mamie says she can hear a “but” in there.
Nate laughs and says she has great intuition. He asks that Mamie stay out of their personal lives or cast judgment on any of them… Can she do separate the business from the personal?
Mamie apologizes if she came off that way. She doesn’t want to be seen as a busybody. She just wanted to make sure they’re all happy. She stands up and takes her purse.
Nate stands up with her and says he hasn’t been this happy in a long time.
Mamie says she’s thrilled. They hug.
Devon gives Abby a kiss after talking with Jill and apologizes for “abandoning” her.
Abby says it’s not a big deal, she knows all about the family drama.
Devon still doesn’t understand why Mamie needed to be so secretive about everything… Why didn’t she call them and let them know before this meeting?
Abby figures Mamie might have wanted to surprise them.
Jill walks over to Mamie and says she has to hand it to her… She sure has come a long way from the Abbott house.
Mamie thanks Jill for the “compliment”, but thinks there’s a sucker punch coming.
Jill says it won’t be tonight. She’s decided to put her reservations aside and offer Mamie congratulations.
Mamie says that’s unheard of.
Jill says it is, but Mamie has managed to pull the deal off without any of them seeing it coming. That takes some smarts!
Mamie says she’s always been smart and capable, but Jill simply didn’t like her and couldn’t accept it.
Jill says that’s probably true. She says she really wants to know, though… What is it that she ultimately wants?
Mamie smiles and says, “Never show your hand until it’s time, Jill.” She walks away grinning.
Lily’s Apartment
Lily and Daniel sit on the sofa and talk. Lily says she’s happy that Mamie has found new purpose in her life and that her investments are doing well, but she’s curious as to why she’s back.
Daniel asks if Lily is worried that Jill is right about Mamie having a hidden agenda. He thinks Jill is making a mountain of a molehill. She’s making an investment, it’s not a big deal.
Lily supposes he’s right.
Daniel starts rubbing Lily’s shoulders to relax her. “Here, my specialty.”
Lily smiles and says that’s not his only specialty. They kiss.
The Neil Winters Jazz Lounge
Victoria and Nate sit alone in the lounge. Victoria laughs and says that was quite the family gathering.
Nate says Victoria took it in stride.
Victoria says she’s used to all kinds of family drama.
Nate says he’s fearful that Mamie and Jill won’t find any middle ground.
Victoria agrees. She says she’s more concerned about Nate.
Nate is confused. If his aunt and Jill want to fight, he can’t stop them.
Victoria asks if he was tempted by Mamie asking him to come back to Chancellor-Winters.
Nate says he wasn’t at all tempted. He’s happy where he is, and Devon and Lily would never agree to it, and even if they did, it would be as miserable as when he last worked there.
Victoria says some things heal with time.
Nate smirks and asks if she’s trying to get rid of him.
Victoria says not a chance. They kiss.
The Abbott Mansion
Diane thanks Jack for dinner and a wonderful evening. It was magical.
Jack tells her it was his pleasure. It’s a fitting end to the evening before they renew their vows.
Diane says she can’t wait for their next chapter.
Jack says that together, they can handle anything, whether it’s an unpredictable Billy, Kyle’s defiance, or Tucker’s onslaught.
Diane says they’re a force of nature together.
Jack says he couldn’t love anyone as much as he loves her right now. They kiss and head upstairs.
They get undressed and snuggle up in bed, kissing each other passionately.
The Chancellor Mansion
Jill, Devon, and Abby enter the mansion and take off their shoes. Jill tells Abby she was happy to be able to spend time with her. She sends her regards to Abby’s mom.
Abby thanks her and goes upstairs to check on Dominic.
Jill tells Devon she’s really happy that he and Abby have moved into the Chancellor Mansion.
Devon thanks her. He says he’s happy that Dominic is going to grow up in such a cool house.
Jill looks at Katherine Chancellor’s portrait and says whenever she’s in the house, she really feels Katherine’s presence.
She laughs as she tells Devon she spent a lot of her youth in the house, and that she went through love, loss, and fighting. One of the fights involved a cake.
Devon asks what is on Jill’s mind.
Jill says seeing Mamie opened a lot of old wounds regarding the Abbotts.
Devon says a lot of Jill’s family and her career were centered around the Abbotts.
Jill says she has fond memories of John, but not about Mamie. She’s skeptical of Mamie, and wants Devon’s take on it.
Devon was surprised just like Jill was. He wishes Mamie had told him about it beforehand, but he doesn’t know her very well, so maybe she gets a kick out of doing stuff like this.
Jill says Mamie certainly got a kick out of it today. She says there must be an ulterior motive behind it. Knowing Mamie, there’s bound to be a surprise behind the surprise.
Mamie’s GCAC Suite
Mamie sits down on the sofa, laughing to herself as she takes off her shoes.
She looks over and smiles as she sees a bottle of champagne. She pours herself a glass.
Raising the glass, she says, “Cheers to myself and a perfect evening!” She laughs and takes a drink.
Mamie’s phone rings. She answers and tells the person on the other end that things went off without a hitch. She says “they don’t have a clue”; everything went perfectly. She laughs.
