Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Claire was released into Victoria and Cole’s custody while Victor and Michael finalized the plan to trap Jordan.
Society
Nina walks into the restaurant and hugs Christine. They exchange happy hellos, and Nina explains that she’s in town for a few days and wants to check up on Chance and how he’s doing at Chancellor-Winters.
Christine says she’s bumped into him once or twice but still isn’t used to him in a business suit.
Nina is “over the moon” that Chance has a job that won’t get him shot.
Christine agrees. She says the GCPD lost a good man when Chance left.
Nina couldn’t be prouder of what he achieved, but she doesn’t regret his career change. She grins and says Jill had better keep him happy… Or else!
Christine tells Nina her timing is perfect for coming to town… She could use a friend right now.
Nina figures it’s about Danny. She asks what happened between them.
Christine says, “Phyllis!”
The Genoa City Athletic Club
Phyllis walks into the dining room and approaches Danny’s table, smiling.
Danny is on a call with someone and mentions he’s moved up his tour dates. He can’t wait to get back out in front of a live audience. He’ll wait for the itinerary and he’ll start packing. He disconnects the call.
Phyllis’s face drops as she overhears him talking. After his call, she asks why he’s going on tour now… They’re so close to getting back together!
Newman Media / Crimson Lights
One of Victor’s security team opens the door to Nikki’s office and looks around, clearing it for her entrance. He beckons her to enter.
Nikki walks in and sees a beautiful boutique of flowers on her desk. She gasps and says, “Oh, Victor.”
She opens the envelope. “Thank you for being a friend still. Best, Seth.” She tells the security detail, Larry, that he can wait in the foyer.
Nikki calls Seth, who’s in Crimson Lights sipping on a coffee. She tells him she got the flowers, which were completely unnecessary, but they’re beautiful.
Seth says it’s the least he could do; she could have pushed him away when he needed someone to talk to, but she was kind instead… He thanks her and says it meant a lot to him. He says he has some news for her.
Nikki’s intrigued… What’s the news?
Seth asks if she’d be interested in getting a coffee at Crimson Lights… He thinks she’d be pleased by what he has to tell her.
Nikki doesn’t say anything.
Seth says he’s not drinking.
Nikki says she’d be happy to meet with him as long as he doesn’t mind a bodyguard hovering nearby.
Seth agrees and says he’ll see her in a bit.
Newman Ranch
Victor enters the living room as Claire, Victoria, and Cole walk in.
Victoria says they just came from showing Claire her guest suite.
Victor’s happy. He asks if everything is to Claire’s liking.
Claire laughs and says it’s the most amazing bedroom she’s ever seen, yet it still feels warm and cozy. She gushes over the sauna in the bathroom and the size of the closet.
Cole jokes that it’s a “pretty good size.”
Claire says it’s enormous; her wardrobe will fit in a corner!
Victoria says the ranch can be overwhelming at first.
Claire thinks it’s like a fantasy… The grounds, the house, the pool!
Victoria mentions a spring-fed lake on the grounds where she and Nick used to catch frogs.
Victor grins and suggests Cole and Victoria show Claire around. He asks if she rides.
Claire says she hasn’t, but she’s always wanted to learn.
Cole says there are plenty of people to teach her, and the trails are beautiful… Especially in the winter!
Claire says she’s grateful to be able to stay at the ranch. She thanks them all.
Victoria says she doesn’t need to thank them.
Victor says when the saga of “that Jordan woman” ends, Claire can decide where she wants to stay; she can stay with her parents or at the ranch… She’s a Newman now, and that will never change!
Claire and Victoria hug happily. Claire tells Victor she hopes to live up to his faith and prove herself worthy.
Cole says that’s not how family works… She doesn’t have to prove anything.
Victor says she already has by helping them capture her aunt and bringing her to justice.
Claire says she wants that as much as Victor does. She says her therapy has helped her to see the truth about Jordan. She hates what Jordan did to her, her parents, and the Newmans; the thought of Jordan makes her sick.
Victoria says Jordan raised her; doesn’t she feel any connection to her?
Claire shakes her head. Not since the day in the cabin when Claire had managed to take Jordan’s gun from her. She says she would have killed Jordan if Nikki hadn’t stopped her. Jordan is the one who took her from her family and will never be anything more to her. Claire needs to protect them all the same way they’re protecting her.
Victoria says they can’t thank her enough for it.
Victor says he’s already started the ball rolling; the news of Claire’s release has hit the media, and once Jordan gets wind of it, he’s sure she’ll respond.
Society
Christine says Phyllis’s shenanigans, which is too nice of a word, started before the holidays.
Nina says Phyllis is the “original queen of bad behavior.”
Christine says she tried to take the high road because things were better than fine between her and Danny. She says they were going to have a weekend getaway, which sent Phyllis “into orbit.”
Nina asks what Phyllis did.
Christine says Phyllis doesn’t want her and Danny to be happy, so she stirred up things on social media and timed it so Christine walked in and saw them kissing.
Nina says Phyllis got under her skin.
Christine says she promised herself she wouldn’t, but she acted like a jealous schoolgirl, and it wasn’t a good look in front of Danny.
Nina says Christine was vulnerable from the divorce, and Phyllis knew it.
Christine says it’s been nonstop drama ever since then; Phyllis acts out, Christine puts her in her place, and next thing you know, they’re at each other’s throats!
Nina grins and says she’d like to be the one to strangle Phyllis.
Christine says things are bad… Danny’s backed away from both of them because he can’t handle the conflict, and Christine says she plays right into Phyllis’s hand and drives Danny away.
Nina says she should have returned to Genoa City sooner to snap Christine out of it.
Christine shakes her head. She says the judge should have put Phyllis away for killing Jeremy Stark; they’d all be better off without her!
Nina agrees. She says Christine can’t give up on Danny… That’s not the Cricket she knows!
The GCAC Dining Room
Danny tells Phyllis that she refuses to accept reality. Phyllis sits beside him and starts speaking, but Danny cuts her off. He says nothing has changed. They are not getting back together; he doesn’t have romantic feelings for her! They’re friends and co-parents… That’s it!
Phyllis says she knows there’s something between them, and it’s very powerful. She says there’s no spark between him and Christine; it’s like watching paint dry.
Danny says this is another reason they won’t have this conversation; he doesn’t want to be the dodgeball Phyllis and Christine keep throwing at each other!
Phyllis laughs and says it’s a bad metaphor… If it were dodgeball, Christine would be on the floor by now.
Danny says it’s not funny.
Phyllis thinks it’s a little funny. She says she understands his hesitation… She didn’t expect him to walk into her life at this late date and that she’d feel this way.
Danny doesn’t buy a word she’s saying.
Phyllis says she’s completely sincere. She says he has two women fighting over him, and one of them is her… Lucky him!
Danny says it’s not flattery like Phyllis thinks. It’s exhausting, and he can’t handle all the pettiness, so he’s added dates to his tour, and it’s time for him to leave Genoa City.
Phyllis says the dates aren’t set in stone; they can be changed. She asks if there’s anything she could do to change his mind.
Danny says, “Not a single thing.”
Phyllis says it’s decided then. He’s leaving on tour, and that’s that!
Danny nods. “100%.”
Phyllis says her loss is a gain for Danny’s fans. She’s sure they’ll enjoy listening to him and watching him perform all his new songs… Especially the one they collaborated on.
Danny laughs and says he’s in town for two more weeks.
Phyllis is surprised… So soon!
Danny says it’s not soon enough for him; he needs a break from his break, which wasn’t restful at all.
Phyllis asks if they can have dinner together before he leaves.
Danny doesn’t think that’s a good idea.
Phyllis says it’ll be a no-strings-attached goodbye dinner… It’ll be a dinner with the two of them so she can say goodbye before she has to share him with the world.
Danny gives in. He says they’ll set something up in a week or so.
Phyllis would much rather do it tonight.
Society
Nina tells Christine she can’t throw in the towel and let Phyllis win… That’s unacceptable!
Christine says she’s not just upset with Phyllis; she’s not loving how Danny is handling things either. Danny insists on being supportive and treating Phyllis like a friend. She says Danny’s buying into Phyllis’s “nonsense” that she’s changed.
Nina says it’s ludicrous. Danny knows who Phyllis is as much as Christine does.
Christine says Phyllis plays on Danny’s sympathy and looks for any sign that he’s being decent to her. She says Danny isn’t helping by saying he cares for them both.
Nina doesn’t believe Danny can see Phyllis “like that.”
Christine says she finds it disturbing to think that Danny could have any attraction for Phyllis, but she has a lot of doubts right now.
Nina says Christine should throw herself into her work and stay out of sight… Let Danny know by her actions that he’s in danger of losing her again.
Christine asks if Nina is a dating coach now.
Nina laughs and says she’s been studying “romantic dynamics” for her storytelling, and this is a way to get things back on track. She says it’ll take willpower on Christine’s part, but it’ll impact Danny because Christine is the object of his desire and always has been. He’ll realize what’s at stake when he sees that she’s pulling away.
Crimson Lights
Larry, the Newman security detail, walks into the coffee shop and scans for danger. He beckons Nikki to come in.
Nikki walks in and sees Seth sitting at a table. She walks up to the counter and talks with Esther.
Esther asks Nikki if the man behind her is her bodyguard… Is Nikki in danger?
Nikki says Larry’s her bodyguard, and she’s not anticipating any trouble.
Esther’s relieved.
Nikki asks for two raspberry teas… One for her, one for Larry. She says everything will be fine and thanks Esther for her concern.
Esther says Nikki is like family to her; of course she worries!
Nikki heads into the covered patio to meet with Seth. Larry watches from the other room.
Seth says she got there quickly and thanks her for meeting with him.
Nikki couldn’t help but be curious when he said he had news.
Seth asks what the deal is with the guard. He asks if it’s about the ordeal she went through where the woman force-fed her vodka.
Nikki says it is… The “mastermind” has escaped from prison, and she’s made it clear that she’s not done torturing the Newmans yet.
Seth shakes his head. It’s terrible.
Nikki says she’s finally convinced Victor that she shouldn’t be a prisoner in her home, so they decided she can be out and about as long as Larry escorts her, and she feels safer with him around.
Seth says he’s glad she’s being careful. His mind’s blown that the woman would be foolish to come after Nikki again.
Nikki says Jordan (she doesn’t mention her by name) is insane and she’s obsessed with Nikki paying for things that happened decades ago… Things Nikki had no part in!
The Empty Glass Lounge
Jordan sits and pulls up a search engine. She searches for Claire Grace and mutters, “Okay, Claire… Where are you now?”
Crimson Lights
Esther brings Nikki and Seth their tea and leaves them to talk.
Seth asks the name of the woman who terrorized Nikki and broke out of jail.
Nikki says she doesn’t want to talk about it; it’s too upsetting. She asks what Seth’s news is.
Seth says going to meetings and talking with his sponsor isn’t enough… If he wants to kick booze altogether, he’s going to have to admit himself to rehab.
Nikki thinks that’s wonderful.
Seth says it’s his only hope… He says Isabel thought that reconnecting with Nikki and getting her forgiveness would push him to sobriety, but he thinks he needs more structured help.
Nikki says she’s glad he’s taking charge of his recovery in such a strong way.
Seth says he’s ready… It just feels like the right time.
Nikki asks about Isabel… Is that the same woman he mentioned last time?
Seth nods. Isabel is from the AA meetings.
Nikki says she can’t place her from their meetings and doesn’t recognize the name.
Seth says Isabel was probably trying to avoid Nikki.
Nikki asks why Isabel would be avoiding her.
Seth sighs.
The Empty Glass Lounge
Jordan reads an article on her tablet. “Claire Grace was released from treatment at Memorial Hospital into the care of Cole Howard and Victoria Newman, daughter of titan Victor Newman. Rumor has it that the young woman is Howard and Newman’s daughter.”
Jordan mutters that they’re taking Claire in and making her one of their own… Doesn’t Claire see what’s going on? The Newmans are going to destroy her like they destroyed Eve!
Newman Ranch
Victor tells Claire, Victoria, and Cole that once the story hits the news outlets, Newman Media will do an in-depth piece on the three of them; they’ll talk about the “newest Newman” and how her parents found her after thinking she’d died.
Claire is surprised they’re moving ahead so quickly… The whole world will know who she is.
Victoria says they weren’t planning on keeping it a secret forever.
Cole asks if Claire thought they were ashamed of her… Nothing could be further from the truth!
Claire says it feels strange to her… Jordan had insisted that she keep her identity under wraps her whole life.
Victor promises Claire that Jordan won’t be in control of any part of Claire’s life now.
Victoria says they’ll be there to help Claire through it.
Cole says that once the story hits, a lot of attention will be focused on the three of them, especially on Claire… Every news outlet will want to put their own spin on it.
Victor says Cole is right… The media will want interviews and TV appearances from Claire.
Victoria says they’ll do their best to shield her from it. She’ll also tell Johnny and Katie so that the news won’t blindside them.
Victor nods. He says Nikki runs Newman Media, and they have an exclusive on the story… That way, they can keep control of it.
Claire says they’re making sure that Jordan can’t miss the story.
Victoria says this is about Claire, not Jordan… This is their way of publicly cementing Claire’s place in the family.
Claire thanks them for the heads-up… She’ll do her best to prepare herself.
Cole says the first hurricane is the hardest; she’ll handle it like a pro after a while.
Claire asks why Nikki isn’t there… Is she okay with Claire moving in?
Victor reassures Claire that Nikki is on board with her staying at the house.
Victoria’s curious as well… Where is Nikki? She thought Victor was adamant she stay at the ranch.
Victor says Nikki convinced him that it’d be good for her to get out once in a while.
Cole asks where Nikki is now.
Victor says it’s not a problem… Wherever she is, a member of Victor’s security team will always be by her side.
Crimson Lights
Seth tells Nikki the story that Jordan had told him… He says Nikki and Isabel were friends when she used to drink. He says they got sober together, and they had a falling out after Isabel fell off the wagon.
Nikki says none of that ever happened. She’s never known anyone by the name Isabel!
Seth says he’s not sure what to say… He’s sorry he brought it up; Isabel confided in him and asked him not to mention her name because it’s such a sore subject. Now, he’s betrayed Nikki’s trust, and he feels terrible because Isabel was the one who encouraged him to patch things up with her.
Nikki asks what exactly Isabel said to him.
Seth says Isabel told him that he shouldn’t assume Nikki would hate or blame him for failing as her sponsor, and she told him that he should give Nikki credit for being compassionate.
Nikki nods. She urged him to reach out and get close to Nikki. She asks what Isabel looks like.
Seth describes “Isabel.” He says they’re about the same age, and Isabel has reddish hair and glasses.
Nikki knows she’s never met that woman; the description doesn’t fit anyone she knows. She asks how Seth and Isabel met; how did Nikki’s name get brought up?
Seth says Isabel approached him and said they had a friend in common.
Nikki asks how Isabel knew who Seth was and how she knew that Seth knew Nikki.
Society
Christine tells Nina she’s come very close to walking away from Danny, and Danny has pulled away from her, but she doesn’t believe either one of them wants to leave things on a bad note.
Nina says she can’t imagine it either; Danny’s carried a torch for Christine for years and just needs a nudge in the right direction.
Christine says one thing’s for certain… The situation with Phyllis has to end. She can’t put up with her garbage anymore, and it’s time to draw a line in the sand.
The GCAC Dining Room
Danny asks Phyllis to quit pressuring him; this is exactly what he’s trying to get away from!
Phyllis swears she’s not pressuring him. She has the evening free, which is rare for her. She has a very full social calendar. Doesn’t Danny want to get it over with so he can get back to going over his set list and finalize things for the tour?
Danny says her argument makes sense. He agrees to have dinner with her. He excuses himself to get the bill.
Phyllis follows him to the bar and shimmies up closely to him. She says she has one final request.
Danny says he can see where this is going… They’re not going to have a private dinner at her place, and they won’t be having it at his place either… He’s not falling for it.
Phyllis is fine with that. She says they’ll have to buy out an entire restaurant to do what she has in mind.
Danny looks mildly disgusted. He tells her not to go there.
Phyllis whispers in his ear that she’s not thinking of anything risque… At least not in public! She wants him to cook for her.
Newman Ranch
Victor tells Claire he will leave her in her mother’s capable hands so Victoria can give her the rest of the tour. He says he’s off to meet with the security team. He asks Cole to come with him to meet the new supervisor.
Cole agrees, and he and Victor leave.
Victoria tells Claire she’ll show her the kitchen next and asks if she’s hungry.
Claire says she’s not hungry yet. She says she feels that Victoria still isn’t comfortable with the arrangement.
Victoria says she doesn’t have a problem with the arrangement… It’s her dad’s plan that bothers her. She’s thrilled Claire is out of the hospital and getting to know her family and hopes Claire can feel how sincere everyone is about welcoming her home… Even her new grandfather!
Claire grins and says it amazes her to find out she has two brothers and a sister. She says she grew up lonely with just Jordan around.
Victoria says that was never what her life was supposed to be.
Claire says she wants to know everything about her siblings and hopes they’ll accept her.
Victoria says they’ll accept her. She has so many stories about Claire’s siblings that she’ll beg her to stop.
Claire laughs and says she can’t wait.
Crimson Lights
Seth tells Nikki that Isabel told him she spent years in and out of AA and would sit in the back and leave so she wouldn’t be noticed. He says Isabel told him that she heard him speak a few times and put two and two together and figured out that he and Nikki knew each other.
Nikki asks if it’s possible that Isabel was wearing a wig.
Seth says it’s possible… He hadn’t thought about it. He asks if Nikki’s worried about Isabel… Does she believe Isabel might be the one who gave her the alcohol?
Nikki nods and says she thinks it’s very possible.
Seth rubs his face anxiously. “My God.”
Nikki asks what happened when he last talked to “Isabel.”
Seth says he told Isabel that the meeting between him and Nikki at her house went well, and Isabel said to him that he should “be there” for Nikki. After that, Isabel started texting him non-stop, asking him for information about Nikki, but he never responded because Isabel drank whenever he saw her. He said since he decided to go to rehab, he thought it’d be best not to see her again.
Nikki tells him that she needs the number that Isabel texted him from.
Seth gives her the number and asks what Nikki is going to do.
Nikki says she’s going to find out if it’s the same woman that’s been torturing her. She figures Jordan wants Seth and Nikki to get close so she can use him as a cover to stalk her. She asks if Seth would be willing to help her.
Seth nods. Anything. Just say the word.
Nikki tells Seth to string Isabel along. She tells him not to ignore her texts and to keep her on the hook where Nikki is concerned. She asks him to keep her informed if anything comes of it.
Seth says, “Consider it done.” He says if Nikki’s right about Isabel’s real identity, he might have put Nikki in more danger.
Nikki reassures him he didn’t… He may have just given her the upper hand!
Society
Nina says she’s happy Christine is going to take the first step… She just needs to back away.
Christine says Nina’s right… Christine doesn’t like who she is in this situation; it’s time to end the cycle.
Nina agrees. She tells Christine to do it.
Christine calls Danny and leaves a voicemail asking him to meet for drinks or dinner that evening. She says it’s important.
The GCAC Dining Room
Phyllis tells Danny she wants him to cook for her as a going-away present… Even though he’s the one who’s leaving. There’s plenty of time, and she wants him to make “The Sauce.”
Danny gives her a look.
Phyllis says she wants his sauce with pasta. Christine got it; it’s only fair for her to taste it, too!
Danny says he won’t rent an entire restaurant to make her a meal.
Phyllis tells him not to worry about it; she’ll make the arrangements. Danny only needs to provide her with a shopping list, and she’ll get everything. All he needs to do is cook and say goodbye to an old friend… For now.
The Empty Glass Lounge
Jordan gets up, angry, and puts her coat on.
Seth sees her through the window and enters the bar. He approaches her angrily and says he was hoping to find her here… What isn’t she telling him? What is she trying to pull with Nikki?
Newman Ranch
Nikki walks into the living room and sees Claire and Victoria looking at pictures and laughing. She says hello.
Claire gets up, a little nervous, and says hello to Nikki. She hopes Nikki isn’t too startled to have her in the house.
Nikki smiles and says she’s been expecting her. She welcomes Claire to her new home.
Claire thanks her.
Nikki says she’s sorry she wasn’t there to greet her when she arrived.
Victoria says Victor explained that Nikki went to the office… That must have felt good.
Nikki says it’s wonderful to be out and about again.
Claire says Victoria has been showing her around the ranch and helping her get settled.
Nikki asks how she’s finding things.
Claire laughs and says she’ll probably get lost a lot at first… But the ranch is amazing!
Nikki hopes she’ll be happy there.
Claire says she will be, eventually. Right now, she has Jordan weighing on her mind and wonders how Victor’s plan to catch her will unfold.
Nikki says they may not need to wait much longer.
Victor and Cole walk in, and Victoria asks for any news. Victor says things are falling into place, and they must release more information to rile Jordan up… That way, they can be sure that Jordan will contact Claire.
Cole says it shouldn’t take much. Jordan is a suspected arsonist and murderer and is on the run from the law. She’s got to be on a hair trigger by now.
Victor gives Claire a cell phone and tells her it’s monitored, per the judge’s ruling.
Claire thanks him and asks him how Jordan will know to contact her on that phone.
Nikki says she may already have a way for Claire to contact Jordan, and if she’s right, Jordan has already made her first mistake.
Next Week on The Young and the Restless
Summer and Chance are alone in a suite at the GCAC. Summer tells Chance she hopes he’s in the mood for the same thing she is.
Amanda tells Mamie it’s an honor to finally meet her.
Christine asks Danny why he’s leaving… Is he really ready to give up on them?
Seth tells Jordan they’re going to call Nikki together, and Jordan says she’s looking forward to the reunion!
