Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Nikki sought Jack’s help after visiting Claire, Summer & Kyle’s divorce was finalized, and Traci assisted Ashley in her quest for truth.
Daniel’s condo
As Heather dresses after sex with Daniel, she flashes back to sex. He watches her and it’s awkward. “So…what happens now?”
She asks what he’d like to happen.
He has a hard time getting anything out but says he screwed up in Savannah and made himself forget it all until today.
He motions to the bed. She asks about their future. He smiles and says being with her again… he trails off and swipes his face, thinking Lily deserves better.
Heather is not saying she doesn’t, but it’s not as if he’s in love with her – he said so himself.
Daniel agrees, but they’re still a couple, and there are expectations that go along with that, like not seeing others.
He respects how honest she’s been with him, but he can’t respect himself.
She understands and is sorry it affects Lily, who has been kind to her. But this is about them.
Years of love between them and a child. “You’re you again, so we can be us again,” she says.
She knows about his history with Lily but asks if it compares to theirs.
He says nothing, so she tells him she won’t push but does feel close to him.
He agrees this feels lovely, but he never lets himself think of them being together again.
She admits she hoped for this, but the sex wasn’t premeditated. He calls her strong, beautiful, and brilliant.
Chancellor-Winters offices
Abby strolls into Chancellor-Winters to surprise Devon.
They kiss, and she tells him she has been considering her offer of him hiring her or adding her to the board to help protect the company from Tucker.
Devon, too, has given it thought and also thinks she’d do a good job at the company.
She likes the thought better than what she’s doing now. “Just say the word,” she says, knowing the company’s their son’s legacy.
Devon decides to put her on the board. There’ll be red tape and reaching out on his end.
They’ll need a plan before presenting it to Lily and Jill.
He gets a text. His meeting was just cancelled, so they decide to head to lunch, on her.
Abbott mansion
Jack lets Nikki into the mansion and offers a drink or for Mrs. Martinez to make her something to eat.
She refuses and admits she had one…maybe two drinks, but called before it got out of hand.
Jack is glad she called and agrees to take her to a meeting, but not before they call Victor.
She begs him not to and downplays the drinking, calling it minor. Progress has meant she asked for help.
Still, Jack says you’re only as sick as your secrets.
That’s how addicts stay addicts by keeping these secrets.
She says Victor is constantly checking and hovering, and it’s maddening. Jack thinks it makes it harder for her to make a drink.
Nikki hates this is an issue and tells her friend that Victor wants to go away with her.
Jack likes the idea, but she says she’d be taking her addiction with her.
At least in Genoa City, she has meetings and support.
She needs to kick this. Jack argues that she needs a new sponsor, and Nikki says he’d hate it if it were Jack.
She can’t start anew with someone else.
She needs Jack to help pull her out of this nightmare.
Jack’s touched she has faith in him but doesn’t want to keep it from Victor.
Nikki thinks they’ll just ensure he doesn’t. Jack again reminds her deceit is part of the disease.
They argue about her finding someone else, a move she thinks would be more stressful.
He agrees to help her for now and asks why she drank today. He knows about someone forcing alcohol on her to begin with.
She calls it terrifying and tells him about Aunt Jordan and Claire being Victoria’s child.
Jack rears back in shock.
Once he knows everything, he can’t believe what those women put his ex through. She knows.
She talks about feeling the vodka burning through her veins and how it clouds her thoughts and emotions.
She didn’t know what was happening initially, thinking it was familiar. Without the taste or weight of the glass, she couldn’t place it.
Once she did, she realized Jordan knew what she was doing — her history. She talks about her family almost dying, and Jack calls the woman sadistic. He recalls when Cole and Victoria mourned over Eve’s death.
Jack will be there with Nikki as she recovers. Nikki admits she went to see Claire today to see how she’d feel about her, wondering if she’d pity her or be enraged by the woman.
Nikki says she opened up, making her realize she’s so damaged. Hypnotized her whole life.
She doesn’t know what she did or the consequences.
She knew only lies that Victoria and Cole didn’t want her. Jack calls the aunt an evil woman. “She is evil incarnate,” Nikki agrees.
She admits she thought she might forgive Claire in time, but when she broke down, she couldn’t bring herself to hug her.
“My granddaughter.” Nikki felt ashamed, upset, and self-pity.
Images of her kidnapping returned, overwhelming her, and this is why she wanted a drink.
Jack’s there for her, he says, which makes Nikki grateful. She forces him to swear not to tell Victor.
He won’t. It’s late for a meeting, so Jack offers to take her home, but she says she’ll get home herself. They embrace.
Newman Enterprises, CEO office
In Victor’s office, Victoria hugs and kisses her father to thank him for talking about accepting Claire into the family.
Adam and Nick appear at the door, and Adam asks what it means to accept Claire into the family.
Victoria tells her brother to butt out. He’s just asking about family, but she doesn’t want his opinion.
He asks why it’s impossible that he’d want to protect the family.
Nick snarks that Adam is being selfless, and Victoria crosses her arms over her chest and reminds Adam he’s the outsider who is always trying to claw his way back in.
He doesn’t know Claire, but he’s just concerned.
Nick tells his brother that his concerns are noted. He should move on. Adam calls the girl a felon, and Victoria yells, ‘That’s enough!”
Victor says they’ve got their eyes wide open.
He barks out that this won’t be contentious.
Adam faces his dad, wondering if he’s the only one who worries Claire’s crazy aunt will be around again.
What if she begs them to accept that Jordan is rehabilitated like her?
Victor knows that won’t happen, and Victoria adds that Claire cut all ties with her. Adam finds it suspicious.
What if they are planning another escape?
Victoria details the trip to Oregon but wasn’t there for the conversation between Jordan and Claire.
Adam’s skeptical about that, too, but Victor trusts her instincts.
Adam’s been in Claire’s shoes, so Nick asks if they shouldn’t trust anything he says.
Adam says he will prove himself to them with his actions over time, and Claire only has words.
They need to be cautious. Victoria calls it ironic that the Newman black sheep tells them to watch themselves.
Adam purses his lips and asks Victor for support, but his dad only crosses his arms over his chest as he sides with Victoria.
Victoria thinks Adam is worried they’ll love her more. He says no, it’s Claire’s aunt… They haven’t heard the last of her.
Victoria doesn’t care. She’s not a threat. She’ll die in prison. Nikki meanders into the room as Adam says she can’t guarantee that.
Victor greets his baby, who says she’s fine and asks what she walked in on.
Victoria thinks Claire poses a threat to Adam’s ego. He denies it and just wants to know they’re all safe. Nikki says it’s not over, but they’re handling it.
Victoria thinks Claire deserves compassion, but Adam thinks if Nick gave this advice, Victoria would be all in.
Nick denies it. Adam is told to be all in. “Whatever you say,” the ‘black sheep’ says and leaves.
Nikki fills the family in on her visit with Claire. Victoria’s happy with the news, but Victor worries.
Nikki calls it enlightening. Nick asks why she likes going to the children’s ward, and Nikki says she likes watching kids interact with families.
Something she never had. She’s not clear on what family is, but the walks will help. She’s trying to fill an empty place in her heart.
Memorial Hospital psych ward
A nurse brings Claire a cell phone and says there’s a call for her from her mother.
Claire takes the call and learns it’s Aunt Jordan, who asks her not to hang up.
Claire looks petrified as she listens.
Jordan can hear her breathing, so she goes on to say she’s sorry she lied and told them her mother was calling.
She worried Claire wouldn’t answer otherwise. Claire says they’ve nothing to say to one another.
“It’s over. You’re dead to me.” Jordan refuses to believe that.
She looks around and says she only has a few minutes and needs to understand that the Newmans aren’t good for her.
They’ll take her into their world and annihilate her. They don’t deserve her. Claire tells her aunt she’s wrong.
They want her to have a future, but she is the one who doesn’t deserve them.
Jordan gets all worked up as Claire says, “I want you dead. You hear me? Dead.”
She disconnects, and Jordan yells into the phone, shocked and upset.
When the nurse returns, Claire asks her never to give her a call from that number again.
The nurse apologizes and asks who it was on the line. “The devil,” Claire says.
Once the nurse is gone, Claire rolls up into a ball and cries.
Society
Devon and Abby wander into Society for lunch and find Daniel and Heather at a table.
They comment that they have the same idea.
Daniel immediately looks guilty and asks what they mean.
Devon says they’re getting a late lunch, too.
Daniel’s awkward, and Abby furrows her brow in confusion.
Heather thinks it’s nice they’re taking time out for themselves and says they’re discussing Lucy’s schedule.
Devon and Abby head to a table, and while Abby gets busy on her phone, Devon stares thoughtfully at Heather and Daniel.
Abby wants her guy to tell her he thinks bringing her on the board is a good idea.
He’s sure and thinks Jill and Lily will. Abby’s excited. She loves it there but feels she’s hit a ceiling.
They talk about her doing a new location, like the old Colonnade Room, but this fell into her lap.
She doesn’t want to get pigeonholed into the hospitality field. They talk about this at length.
She thinks this is the best thing for her. To be more than on the board, “Voting everything against Tucker.”
They talk up their excitement to see where this goes, and then she notices his eyes straying to Daniel and Heather and asks what’s up.
