Last Episode
On the last episode of Y&R, Sharon stumbled on Summer & Chance’s intimate moment as Victoria sought to mend fences with Nate.
The GCAC Dining Room
Daniel and Lily sit at a table, eating. Lily seems distracted, so Daniel says to her that she “sure likes chocolate with her pasta.”
Lily says, “Who doesn’t?” She laughs and says she is listening, but she has a lot on her mind right now.
Daniel wonders if she might be upset with him about “something else.” He wants to clear the air and says he was talking with Sally and Chloe about the design for the apartment when his daughter and Heather showed up. He wants to make sure that Lily knows he didn’t plan that; Lucy had wanted to surprise him.
Lily says he’s babbling.
Daniel says she’s not making it easy.
Lily’s confused. What’s she not making easy?
Daniel says he wants to make sure that Heather moving back to Genoa City won’t be a problem for them.
Crimson Lights
Phyllis enters the coffee shop and sits down with Danny. She says she’s been looking forward to having dinner that evening.
Danny apologizes and says he has to reschedule.
Phyllis asks if something came up… A last-minute gig?
Danny says Daniel had a last-minute change in his plans.
Phyllis figures that Danny must have told Daniel she was coming, so he canceled.
Danny says he didn’t have a chance to talk to their son… Daniel just texted and let him know.
Phyllis says they can still have dinner together even though Daniel changed his plans.
Genoa City Memorial Hospital
Sharon looks on as Summer holds onto Chance’s hand when he wakes up.
Chance looks up at Summer and asks what she’s doing there.
Nina arrives and grins when she sees her son is awake. She rushes over to his side, and Summer steps aside. Nina tells Chance she spoke to the doctor, and he’ll be fine.
Chance says of course he’ll be fine… He takes after his mother; he’s tough, and nothing brings him down.
Nina asks what is wrong with him to put her through this.
Chance coughs, and Nina starts crying. Chance tells her to stop.
Nina says his job may not be too dangerous for him, but it’s too dangerous for her!
Chance tells her he’s fine… He’s as good as new!
Nina laughs with tears in her eyes and kisses his hand.
Sharon gives Summer an inscrutable look.
The GCAC Dining Room
Lily tells Daniel he’s making something out of nothing. She’s not upset.
Daniel asks her what’s going on inside her head.
Lily says she’s disappointed that she missed the conversation with Sally.
Daniel says she’s a part of all of it… She recommended he work with Sally.
Lily asks if she’s being selfish.
Daniel says he wanted her there. It was supposed to be a fun thing with him and Lily, but it turned into a weird reunion with his daughter and his ex.
Lily says it was her fault… Her meeting with Devon ran late, and she’s just bummed she missed Sally’s thoughts.
Daniel says they should go back to his place right away. He’ll tell Lily everything he discussed with Sally and Chloe, and she can tell him what she thinks.
Lily thought Daniel wanted dessert.
Daniel gets a twinkle in his eye and says he doesn’t want dessert as much as he’d like to give her a private tour of his apartment.
Lily laughs and says she’s too full for dessert anyhow.
Daniel waves for the bill.
Memorial Hospital
Chance says he’s sorry to put everyone through this.
Sharon asks Chance to tell them what happened.
Chance nods. He never expected to get shot after a crime was committed. He explains that someone robbed a jewelry store, and the robber returned to get some evidence while Chance was investigating the crime scene.
Chance says the robber probably didn’t realize they’d be on the scene that soon. The robber pulled out a gun and let off a few shots before he was subdued, and one of those bullets happened to have Chance’s name on it.
Nina says it’s a specialty of his. She’s going to change his name!
Chance says he’s sorry for scaring them all.
Nina says he can apologize later. Right now, he has to focus on getting better. She jokes around and tells him he’s grounded when he gets home.
Crimson Lights
Phyllis says she heard about a great restaurant on the lake that has amazing tiramisu… She hasn’t had tiramisu in a long time!
Danny knows the place. Santino’s. He’s heard it’s supposed to be good.
Phyllis says they should give it a try.
Danny says he has to take a rain check. He made other arrangements when Daniel told him his plans changed.
Christine walks up to their table.
Phyllis says, “Hi, Christine.”
Christine nods. “Phyllis.”
Memorial Hospital
A nurse comes in, checks Chance’s blood oximeter, and leaves.
Summer says she needs to get going and is happy that Chance will be okay.
Chance tells her that it means a lot that she came.
Summer says she heard the news and had to check up on him.
Sharon says, “That’s so sweet.”
Nina says it is sweet and thanks Summer for her concern.
Summer explains that Chance was there for her during her ordeal with her mother.
Nina laughs and says she raised him right. She says she’s sorry that Summer had to go through that with her mom; it must have been a nightmare.
Sharon says Summer lost her marriage to the love of her life during it… It was heartbreaking.
Summer says she’s doing much better now. She’s thrown herself into work, and Chance helped her through it.
Chance says he’s got her back.
Summer says he’s in good hands and tells him to follow all the doctor’s orders! She leaves, passing Elena on the way out.
Elena tells Chance he’s glad he got to spend time with family and the “rest of his fan club.” She says Chance needs his rest, so everyone will need to leave. She tells Chance he will be transferred to a regular room soon.
Chance can’t wait… He wants to get out of the hospital soon!
Sharon kisses him and says she’ll see him in the morning. She says good night to everyone.
Nina asks Elena if she can have a few more minutes with Chance.
Elena grins. Five minutes! She leaves the room, and Sharon follows after.
Sharon notices Summer in the hallway, crying to herself. She asks if Summer is okay.
Summer wipes her eyes and says she’s fine… She’s relieved that Chance is okay, but it hit her how dangerous his job is when he told them what happened. It makes her scared for Chance and the other police.
Sharon says he’ll pull through and be out of the hospital in no time.
Summer hopes Sharon doesn’t think it’s weird that she came to the hospital.
Sharon says she knows Summer and Chance have become friends, and it was better that Chance woke up to a friendly face rather than a stranger.
Summer says Chance probably would have preferred it if it was Sharon.
Sharon says all that matters is that Chance opened his eyes. He’ll be fine, and Summer will be, too!
Summer nods and says goodnight. She leaves.
Daniel’s Apartment
Daniel and Lily enter his apartment. He flicks on the lights, but nothing happens. He hasn’t hooked up the electricity yet! He goes to turn on his flashlight on his phone, but his phone is dead.
Lily laughs. She left her phone at home. She asks if Daniel has candles.
Daniel looks through a tote and finds some candles and a flashlight. He lights some candles. He says Sally’s vision would be better if she could see what he’s showing her.
Lily says she thinks the candlelight is romantic.
Daniel kisses her and tells her she’s beautiful.
Memorial Hospital
Chance tells his mom to read him the riot act… He knows she wants to!
Nina says she hopes this gets through his thick skull.
Chance says he knows what’s coming next; she wants him to rethink his life and his future. He has a surprise for her… When he got hit and went down, his first thought was, “Not again!”
Nina is surprised.
Chance says it made him wonder if he’s getting too old for it.
Nina says he absolutely is.
Chance says his next thought was how he could put his sweet mother through this when he loves her so much.
Nina tells him she loves him too.
Chance smiles.

Crimson Lights
Danny asks Christine if Nina wants them to bring anything to the hospital.
Christine says they don’t need to. Chance is sleeping, and they don’t need anything.
Phyllis asks what happened… Why is Chance in the hospital?
Christine says Chance was shot in an armed jewelry store robbery. They caught the culprit.
Phyllis wonders if Summer knows; she’s friends with Chance. She pulls out her phone to contact her.
Danny asks Christine how Nina is holding up.
Christine says Nina’s invincible; she’s a force of nature! She says the robber should be thanking their lucky stars that the cops got them before Nina did.
Danny laughs.
Christine says their dinner reservations are due shortly, they should get leaving.
Danny says he was going to have dinner with Daniel, Lucy, and Phyllis, but Daniel canceled.
Christine says she heard; that’s too bad.
Phyllis says she wasn’t expecting an invitation from them.
Christine says the thought never crossed her mind.
Phyllis says to enjoy their evening.
Danny and Christine leave.
Memorial Hospital
Nina brings Chance a drink. She asks if he’s really having a change of heart, or whether he’s just trying to placate her.
Chance isn’t sure. He says he shouldn’t be making any life-changing decisions while he has a hole in his chest and with the meds he’s on. He can barely decide what flavor of Jello he will have for dinner, let alone decide what he wants to do with the rest of his life.
Nina says she’ll wait. She says she won’t nag, but she’ll keep hoping that he decides not to be a cop anymore.
Chance says he can’t stop her.
Crimson Lights
Phyllis sits and thinks back to when she and Danny were together.
Flashback. They’d been talking about how they were the luckiest parents in the world.
Danny tells Phyllis that he was thinking of getting Daniel boxing gloves for Christmas. If he could lick bacterial meningitis, he could take on Tyson or Holyfield!
Phyllis says that she thought Daniel could be a doctor when he grew up.
Danny says he could win a Nobel Prize for discovering a miraculous cure.
Phyllis asks what would happen if Daniel grew up to be a writer… What if he wrote a “Mommy Dearest” book about her?
Danny laughs and says it would be about how crazy his mother is!
Phyllis says that Daniel could dig up dirt on his father, too… A famous rock star!
Phyllis snaps out of her reverie when Summer enters the coffee house with a hangdog expression on her face. Phyllis hugs her and asks if Summer heard about Chance.
Summer nods. She says Chance is doing okay; she just came from the hospital.
Phyllis says it was sweet of her to visit him. She says Chance is okay, so why is Summer so sad?
Summer shakes her head. She doesn’t want to talk about it.
Phyllis asks what she doesn’t want to talk about.
Summer freaks out a bit and asks why her mom has to grill her on every thought and mood she has. She doesn’t get it.
Phyllis doesn’t understand what’s happening. She says she wasn’t grilling her… Summer seemed upset, and she just wanted to help her!
Summer says Phyllis doesn’t want to help; she wants to “get involved,” and Summer doesn’t want that.
Phyllis says she’s not trying to get involved in anything. She’s just asking questions.
Summer says they should drop it.
Phyllis says Summer’s making a big deal out of nothing.
Summer says Phyllis is incapable of respecting boundaries… Just look at Daniel and Heather!
Phyllis asks what Daniel and Heather have to do with anything.
Summer says Phyllis is trying to push them together.
Phyllis says that’s not true. She only wanted Lucy to return and be closer to her father and grandmother.
Summer says Phyllis interfered.
Phyllis says she never interfered. She’s Summer’s mom and cares about what happens to her. She asks if something else is going on with Chance.
Summer tells her mom to “just stop.” Chance is dating Sharon.
Phyllis laughs. “Really?” She says it doesn’t make a difference, but she wants Summer to be happy. She says Summer has moved on from Kyle, and nothing will happen with Sharon and Chance, so…
Summer asks how she knows nothing will happen between them.
Phyllis says history has informed her. Sharon is all about going after Nick. Sharon may do something with Chance, and she may have married Rey (bless his soul!), but at the end of the day, it’s all about Nick. He’s the only one who matters to Sharon.
Society
Christine is at a table with Danny. She finishes a call with Nina and tells Danny that Chance may be able to come home in a day or two.
Danny’s happy to hear that. He feels sorry for Chance, but he feels sorry for Nina, too. He can’t imagine what it’s like to say goodbye to someone you love every day and not know if you’ll see them again.
Christine shrugs.
Danny realizes he made a faux pas. Christine was married to the chief of police too.
Christine says it’s alright, she’s fine.
Danny says he’ll change the subject before he puts his other foot in his mouth. Christine mentioned Chance and Sharon… Is it something serious?
Christine doesn’t know… But she knows Nina’s not too happy about it because of Sharon’s track record with men. She mentions that Sharon is divorced from Nick, married Adam, and is the widow of Chance’s former partner… She’s not exactly daughter-in-law material in Nina’s mind.
Danny cringes. None of his business! He thinks the best that people can do is follow their hearts.
Christine smiles and tells him that’s sweet and corny.
Danny laughs and says relationships are too complex. Whatever happened to simplicity?
Christine grins and says she and Danny are the poster children for simple relationships. She raises her glass and clinks it in a toast with Danny.
Daniel’s Apartment
Daniel shows Lily some sketches that Sally had come up with, pointing out his favorites. He says that Sally’s putting an idea board together for them.
Lily can’t see the sketches very well by candlelight. She laughs and says she has electricity in her place upstairs… Would Daniel like to go there instead?
Daniel laughs and says she’s bragging, but he’s not really missing the electricity right now.
Lily says she’s not either, but she is missing some things… A bed, maybe a couch; something comfortable!
Daniel says he has a floor.
Lily laughs. “That’s not happening!”
Daniel grins. They go upstairs to Lily’s penthouse.
Crimson Lights
Phyllis tells Summer she was at odds with Sharon for a long time. They’ve learned to tolerate each other, but they’ll never be friends. She says she was going to work with Sharon and didn’t even throw a grenade through the door when that didn’t happen.
Summer laughs and says that’s a big step for her… She’s so proud of her mom!
Phyllis asks Summer if she has feelings for Chance.
Summer says she has no desire to come between Chance and Sharon.
Phyllis says that may be the case, but is she wrong?
Summer sighs. No, Phyllis isn’t wrong. She has feelings for him, but she won’t do anything about them. She asks her mom to stay out of it now that she knows.
Phyllis says she won’t stay out of it because she wants Summer to be happy… But, this is the new Phyllis, and she’s proud that Summer is showing restraint. Summer certainly didn’t learn that from her mom.
Summer says she’s proud of her mom’s restraint, too. She tells her to keep up the good work.
Phyllis smiles and tells Summer she loves her.
Summer takes her mom’s hands and tells her she loves her too.
Lily’s Penthouse
Daniel and Lily cuddle on the couch, naked under the covers, with candles all around.
Lily says she wants to clear something up once and for all… She asks if she’s convinced Daniel that she doesn’t care that Heather is moving back.
Daniel smirks and says, “Almost.” He jokes that he’s a skeptic.
Lily smiles and says she’ll have to try again. They kiss passionately.
Society
Christine and Danny sit and talk after their meal. She says even after eating at the best restaurants in the world, she finds herself missing his “famous” pasta sauce.
Danny’s taken aback. Really? He’ll have to make it for her sometime!
Christine says she’d love that.
Danny takes her hand, and they look into each other’s eyes, smiling.
Outside the restaurant, Phyllis looks in through the window at them.
Memorial Hospital
Elena walks into Chance’s room and tells Nina her time is up… Chance needs to sleep!
Nina laughs and asks, “What about my needs?” She thanks Elena and everyone at the hospital for what they’ve done.
Chance tells his mom to go home. He’s not the only one who needs sleep!
Nina kisses him on the forehead. “Goodnight, my sweet son.” She leaves.
Crimson Lights
Summer gets up to leave the coffee house and runs into Sharon, who’s on her way in.
Sharon says, “Hello… Again.”
Summer asks if there are any updates on Chance.
Sharon shakes her head. Nope. She says the plan is to release him in a day or two.
Summer says she’ll keep him in her thoughts. She says, “Just so you know, Sharon, I am falling for him.” She says she can’t help it. The heart wants what it wants!
Sharon grabs her by the arm with a concerned look on her face. She asks if Summer is okay… She zoned out for a second there!
Summer realizes she was daydreaming about telling Sharon she was falling for Chance. She says she’s okay; she’s just tired. She leaves the cafe.
Sharon shakes her head, confused.
Next Week on The Young and the Restless
Nikki tells Claire she should focus on taking care of her aunt… She knows how important she is to her.
Claire says there’s something she needs to tell Nikki about her aunt.
Nikki tells Victor she’s unsure whether she should leave town with all the family upheaval.
Victor says she needs to go. She’s been looking forward to seeing her sister, Casey, for a long time!
Nikki cries for help as she fumbles with the phone.
Claire comes up behind her with a syringe and injects her in the neck.
