This episode of The Young and The Restless airs Monday, December 19, 2022. In this episode, Nick & Sally wind up in bed together, Mariah and Tessa help decorate Crimson Lights, and Adam and Victor argue about Chelsea. This recap’s episode airs one day early in Canada.
On the last episode of Y&R, Kyle tries to attack Stark, the Abbott’s trim the Christmas tree and Phyllis won’t forgive her daughter.
Sharon closes the coffee shop as Mariah pulls out some old Christmas decorations out of a box. Tessa looks on laughing as Mariah pulls out a tacky old “musical TV”.
Tessa asks why Mariah’s putting an old tree topper up. They play-argue about the topper, and Sharon asks if this is their first fight as a married couple.
Tessa suggests that they call Faith to settle the argument, but Sharon laughs and says that it’s 3 AM in Sweden, so they can’t call her.
Noah shows up to the coffee shop, and jokes that they really went for a subtle tree-topper.
Tessa says she’s happy to see him, and says that they have some news… That they’re going to see a pregnant mother in the new year to see about adopting.
Mariah looks upset, and Tessa says, “Oh, sorry, I know you wanted to keep that a secret for now!”
Mariah says that she doesn’t want to get everyone’s hopes up, only to get them dashed.
She explains that she’s decorated the nursery in her head, and the idea of a baby is making the way into her heart.
Tessa says that there have been disappointments, but it’s all part of the journey.
Sharon says that there are going to be twists and turns on the way to reaching their goal, and they’re one step closer to a new baby entering the family.
Noah says that the musical TV would probably look better over the jukebox, and moves it over there.
Chloe and Chelsea show up and compliment how the place is coming along.
Chelsea’s phone rings, and she takes the call on the patio.
It’s Adam, who asks if it’s ok if Connor stays the night at the Newman Ranch, and if she’ll be alright alone.
Chelsea says it’s fine, and they end the call.
Sharon asks her to come try a drink, and Chelsea says that she loves it.
Chelsea excuses herself, and says that she’d like some time alone. She heads outside.
Chloe shows up at Chelsea’s place, and brings “Esther’s famous cringle” (a type of pastry) to her.
Chloe explains that she needs a moment away from Miles and Bella.
Chelsea invites her in, and tells Chloe she’s taking a holiday from holiday music as well. She says that they should just relax and enjoy Esther’s pastry.
They sit down on the couch, and after some laughs and drinks, Chelsea gets serious, and tells Chloe that she’s been making amends.
She says that she’s done it with Billy, Adam, and even Victoria. She tells Chloe that it’s really helped her, that it’s been cathartic.
Chelsea says that she wants to make amends to Chloe. Chloe laughs and says that she should be the one apologizing, for blowing up the cabin and other things.
Chelsea says that she needs to apologize for being a bad friend, and that Chloe was looking out for her. Chelsea says that she’s grateful that Chloe stuck up for her through tough times.
Chloe says “apology accepted”, and tells Chelsea that she’s there for her. They hug lovingly.
Chelsea says she’s feeling a lot better, and is still working to figure out her new purpose.
She says she needs a complete personal and professional makeover, because this time… She’s going to get it right.

Nick comes into the club and sees Noah getting the club prepared for the holidays.
Sally walks in, smiling and looking fabulous in a red dress, and puts her arm around Nick.
Noah gives them the premium spot in the club, and Nick says it’s fire, misusing the term.
Sally says she’s feeling really good lately, and that she’s enjoying going slow with Nick.
He agrees, and says he likes it a lot too. They clink glasses in a toast.
Nick says they should talk about her holiday night celebrations, and Sally invites Nick up to her room.
The Newman Ranch
Adam shows up at his father’s house, and Victor asks him why he’s there.
Adam says that he’d like to bring Connor to the Ranch for the holidays.
Victor says that him and Connor are both always welcome.
Adam says that he might not like his next idea, which is to ask if it would be alright if Chelsea came too.
Victor asks what brought that on.
Adam says that he doesn’t want her to be alone at Christmas.
Victor says that Chelsea “threw a wrench” into Johnny and Victoria’s life, and that he doesn’t want Chelsea there for Christmas dinner.
Adam argues that Victor set her up to poison Rey, and Victor says that he did that to get Adam out of trouble.
Adam says that it would really mean a lot to Johnny if Chelsea was able to come, and Victor grudgingly agrees to her “tagging along”, since it means that much to his grandson.
Nikki comes in to find Victor alone, looking contemplatively at his cellphone.
Nikki says that Connor has really decorated the barn, and says that he seems really happy lately.
She sees that Victor is looking concerned, and asks what is bothering him.
Victor mentions that Adam asked if Chelsea come along to the Christmas dinner.
Nikki says, “Oh, I think I know what that’s about.”
Victor questions what that would be.
Nikki says that Victoria said that Chelsea had been in a bad place lately, and that’s probably what it’s about.
She says that all families should be together during the holidays, and says that she knows that Victor would be happy to bring him back into the family fold.
Victor says that if he wants to be back in the fold, then it’s up to Adam to make the first move.
Nikki says that he’s making the first step, and Victor smiles. They kiss each other fondly.
Nikki and Victor dance lovingly around the Christmas tree, enjoying each other’s company.
Sally’s Hotel Suite
Nick and Sally show up to her suite, where they have a drink together.
Nick says that he’d love to take her to dinner at his family’s, and Sally says that she knows that Victor doesn’t really like her.
Nick explains that Victor showed him the dossier that he’d collected on her, but he didn’t read through it.
Sally says that she’s not proud of a lot of the stuff that’s in there, and explains that she faked a terminal illness to get something she wanted.
Nick tells her that he doesn’t want to hear any more about it.
He says that he wants to know everything about her, but the things that interest him are things like childhood memories, what her first pet was, and whether she ever starred in a school play.
He says that he’s done stuff just as bad as the other things she’s done, and so has everyone else in town. He says he doesn’t need to read a dossier about her.
They sit down, and Chelsea tells him about her first dog, how Prince rocked her world, and she was the lead in a play in school.
Next thing you know, they’re in bed naked, and Sally jokes and says that they didn’t take it that slow.
Nick says that he’ll have dinner with his family, and then they’ll get together and have some nice alone time.
Chelsea is in the park, listening to carollers sing Christmas music. She looks up at the stars.
Adam shows up, and says that he saw her leave. Chelsea smiles at him.
Chelsea and Adam sit down on a bench and Chelsea says she’s feeling good, and they talk about how Connor’s doing.
Adam says that she’s invited to the Newman Christmas dinner, and he didn’t tell Victor or Nikki about her hospitalization, that she should be the one to tell people.
She says that she doesn’t want to add to the drama at that family event, and she says she knows it hasn’t been easy on him.
Adam says that if Billy needs to be in her life to help her, then he will have to accept that.
Chelsea laughs and thanks him. She asks how he’s been doing, as she knows he’s just broken up with Sally.
He says that he’s trying to focus on his loving son and Connor’s loving mother.
They smile and get up, listening to the choir sing Christmas carols.
