This episode of The Young and The Restless airs Friday, December 9, 2022. In this episode, Jack tells Jeremy Stark to get the hell out of his office, Nate talks with Lily and tries to make amends with Devon, and Diane makes the tough decision to leave town. This recap’s episode airs one day early in Canada.
On the last episode of Y&R, Lauren wonders about Nick and Sally’s relationship, Victoria finds out that Jeremy Stark is in town, and Jeremy Stark is introduced to Phyllis.
Jabot
Jack sees Jeremy and Diane in his office, and asks what he’s doing there.
He says that Jeremy is not welcome at his place of work, and asks if calling security would make his point.
Jeremy laughs and says that he’s impressed that Diane’s “new partner” has such gravitas.
Jack says that he’s formed his own opinions, he’s read the articles about Jeremy’s crimes and doesn’t want him around.
Jeremy says that he doesn’t want to cause trouble, he just wants something from Diane.
He says that he couldn’t blame Diane even if she did put him away behind bars, because he was using her.
He says that he never mentioned her name to the FBI, and protected her, otherwise she’d be behind bars as well, not because she struck a deal for immunity.
Jack asks how much it would take to leave Diane alone.
Diane says that Jack isn’t there to help her pay off her debts.
Jeremy says that he needs to speak to Diane alone, but Jack tells him to leave his building, and doesn’t want to see him at his office or his home.
Jeremy leaves, and Jack says that Jeremy is there for something else, to settle a score, or he would have taken Jack’s offer for money.
Jack asks what was in her immunity deal, and Diane says that she can’t bring that up, as that would let Jeremy know that she informed on him.
Jack says that maybe she should enter the witness protection program, but Diane says that she won’t be intimidated into going into that lonely life.
Jack says that he understands, and says he’s seriously worried about Diane’s safety. He says that offering him money was a slam-dunk, but he was wrong.
Diane says there may be another way out of it.
They talk off-screen, and she says that she should leave town for a bit, and let people think that she’s left town. They leave the office and head to the Abbott Mansion.
Society
Ashley meets with Tucker, and they exchange pleasantries.
Ashley says that Jeremy Stark is in town, and she says that Diane may be in danger.
Tucker says that Ashley is in way over her head with this Jeremy Stark business, and suggests that she distance herself from Nikki and Phyllis.
Ashley suggest that he’s done a 180, and he agrees that he’s changed his mind about things.
He says that the three women were acting a bit heavy-handed by wanting to chase Diane out of town.
He says that when he cheated on Ashley with Diane years ago, it wasn’t Diane’s fault, and he says that he owns up to it.
Ashley asks him if he’s for real.
He says that he understands where Ashley is coming from in a way that Jack and Kyle cannot. He says that Jeremy Stark is trouble, and that she should redirect her anger at Tucker instead.
Ashley says that she feels only feels scorn for Diane, and that there are a lot of reasons she wants Diane out of town.
She says that there’s some residual anger that she slept with Tucker, her fiance at the time.
Tucker says that people have changed, and that she should let go of her anger.
She laughs, and says that she sees through him.
He says that that is what he loves about her, and he sees through her too.
He says that considering what he’d done to her, he doesn’t blame her, but he’s changed, and they still have a connection.
He asks if they’re not both wiser now, and have enough life experience to realize what they lost.
He says, “Can you imagine how much better it would be now, if we gave it just one more chance?”
She says that she hasn’t seen any real evidence that he’s changed, and that she isn’t willing to give their romance a shot right now.
She says that he has changed, though, and she will try to direct her “Diane vitriol” right at him.
He says he won’t count her out, and she leaves with a smile.

The Abbott Mansion
Diane says that she saw Phyllis at Jabot, and that Phyllis had admitted that she had contacted Jeremy.
Jack tells her everything will be all right, and hugs her.
Ashley walks into the house, and sees them hugging. She looks shocked and disgusted.
Ashley doesn’t say a word, but Jack says to Diane that Jabot security will escort her to the hotel and then to the cabin. Diane thanks him and leaves.
Jack says to Ashley that thanks to her and her friends, Diane is leaving town, and she may not return.
Ashley says she thinks it’s best if she does leave town. She says that she had absolutely nothing to do with Jeremy Stark coming to town.
Jack says that she’s just as guilty as if she did. He says that Jeremy Stark thinks that Phyllis called him, and that she’s gone too far.
He stalks away, angry, to another room, where he looks at a picture of himself, Diane, and Kyle together.
Crimson Lights
Sharon sees Chance at the coffee shop, and says that he looks pretty sad.
Chance says that he just left Abby and Dominic, and that he’s feeling overwhelmed.
He says that he’s feeling relieved, too, and that’s just another reason that the divorce should proceed.
Sharon
The Chancellor Mansion
Abby is holding Dominic when Chance shows up.
He cuddles Dominic, and sits down and plays with him with a stuffed dinosaur on the couch.
Chance talks to Dominic, and tells him that sometimes, parents live in different houses, and that’s ok.
He tells him he’ll always have his mommy and daddy, and has lots of people who love him.
The nanny, Louise, takes Dominic to the park, and Chance says that he should be going.
Abby asks if they can talk about visitation schedules. Chance says he’ll call first before he drops by, and that he’ll come by regularly to see Dominic.
Abby is thankful for that, and says that a regular schedule is good for Dominic.
She says that Louise has been told that he will have top priority if Chance drops by, as his hours at the precinct can be unpredictable.
Chance thanks her, and turns to leave.
Abby cries out, “Chance, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry! Can you believe that?”
Chance turns around and says, “I’m sorry too.”
He says that it was an accumulation of a lot of things, that they got married too fast, and had kids too quickly.
He says that when he went away right after their wedding, it wasn’t exactly a newlywed’s dream. He says they’re different people, and they needc different things to make each other happy.
He says that her and Devon was the breaking point, and they were doomedc from the beginning.
Abby says that what he’s saying is just diminishing the love that they have, the love that’s under all the pain.
Chance says he’s accepted that it’s over, and hopes that she can too, that they can move on with their lives.
He turns around and leaves Abby to cry on the sofa, while he ponders what’s next in the hall.
Society
Nate comes into the restaurant and sees Lily there.
He says he hopes there won’t be a problem.
Nate comes over and says that he wanted to thank her for Elena’s opportunity, and that she’ll be working at Newman Media soon making podcasts.
Lily tells Nate that Devon is really angry and hurt. She doesn’t understand how Nate could betray them like he did.
Nate apologizes, and says that he hopes that they can work their way through it. He says that he didn’t act alone, that Devon played a part in it.
She says that she wants to get over it, and that he can’t push her, nor can he push Devon either.
Nate says that he got a call from Imani, and that she mentioned that Amanda had resigned.
Lily says that’s a business matter, and none of his business, since he’s no longer with the company.
Devon comes in and sees Nate and Lily. Nate tries to talk to him but is rebuffed.
Devon takes Lily to a table.
Lily tells Devon that Jill wants to move forward with the IPO, and says that Nate can’t sell his shares, so he’s not a danger to the process anymore.
Devon says that he’s not sure if it’s a good idea, that maybe they should wait before they do the IPO.
He asks what Nate and her were talking about.
She says that Nate wanted to regain their trust, and asks Devon if Nate is betraying them as much as Devon betrayed Amanda.
Devon sputters, and says that those are two different situations.
Lily says that Devon did something he regrets and wants forgiveness, and asks how that’s different than Nate wanting forgiveness.
Abby walks into the restaurant, harried, and Devon looks over at her. He says to Lily that he’ll be back in a minute, and runs after Abby.
Abby sees Devon outside the kitchen doors, and he asks how she is.
Abby tells him that Chance packed his bags and left today. It’s really over.
Devon comforts her, and they hug.
The Grand Phoenix Hotel
Tucker meets Diane in the hallway of the hotel, and he says that he hopes everything’s going well.
She glares at him and says she thinks he knows that Jeremy Stark is a problem.
He laughs, and asks if she needs anything. Does she need money?
Diane slaps him across the face.
She says he’s going to crash and burn, and that she has half a mind to call Devon and tell him not to trust Tucker.
She goes into her suite and slams the door behind her.
Next week on The Young and The Restless
Nate asks Devon, “What could you have done to mess things up with Amanda?”
Billy says to Chelsea that there’s nothing to make amends for or apologize for.
She says, “That’s nice of you to say, though we both know it’s not true.”
Billy says, “So we’re talking about what happened in Myanmar?”
Tucker says to Ashley, “If I propose that you quit your family business and build your own empire, what would you say to that?”
